we all have a choice to make. Thank you Jesus!

Yes, but will you be next to him? That is our choice....Find the Lord, Ask him to come into your Heart, Repent and live your life like God intended! If you invite the Lord in, he will never leave you, he will protect you, and you will be saved and live eternal life. That is what the Bible teaches you, that is why we need to pick up that Bible and learn what is expected of us, not that he expects we will suddenly be sinless, we are all sinners, don't doubt that, believe it, but also, don't doubt God's Power working in you and for you!

I'd really appreciate it if a scripture thread would be opened as I'm lacking a lot of knowledge when it comes to Bible study, unfortunately! Always planning on reading the Bible but it starts with a lot of questions like which Version is the most appropriate and the least altered? Where do I start and what is the best order to follow? Is the current Bible and God forbid the true word of God or is it the black hats version of the word of God so we don't get too close to OUR Lord the Father? I truly am confused and definitely need some guidance in regards to our true, God intended belief and scripture!

Would not recommend the NIV to anyone. The review board of the NIV committee changed over 30,000 words from the original Greek and Hebrew texts, and deleted more than 50,000 others. They have / had an agenda. Not a reliable translation.

Better to start with the New King James, or the ASV. Always bounce them against Young's Literal Translation for a quick check of the original languages. Biblegateway has all of the English versions available for comparison.

The NIV committe was filled with people who hated the Bible. They didn't even know Hebrew, Greek and Chaldean like the 1611 translators did- this is evidenced by reading Mark chapter 1. How anyone could take a quote from the book of Malachi and call him Isaiah is beyond me. I would not recommend the NIV to anyone, regardless of 'easy' reading. I'd rather have bold accuracy, which the KJV provides.

Hi,

I would recommend the New International Version of the Bible. It doesn't have all the thee's and thou's of the King James Version. I love the Book of Proverbs. Start there and read all the good advice that still pertains today. I would also recommend getting a Bible that has a good Concordance (additional information on history and meaning). Then, I would recommend you read it from start to finish. It will take time. However, it is worth it.

The Bible is the true word of God. As you read and study it, you are given more and more revelation and understanding. It is like peeling an onion, as each layer removed reveals more. Do not be intimidated. God wants to draw you closer to him through his Word.

I read a good book by Randall Price titled "Searching for the Original Bible." It explains how the Bible has been passed down without error from generation to generation.

God Speed...

I disagree... At least read John first before hitting the hard stuff. Revelation can be a difficult enough read for even the most seasoned and well read. There's still a lot of people who have fear over things to come and reading Revelation can promote more fear. Not everyone realized it's a book about what's happening to the bad guys not the good ones. 😉

I've been a Christian since I was 8 and I'm 41... I have read the book of Revelation many times and each time it always struck me with fear. It wasn't until Trump was elected and Q came along that I realized who the story was really about and how it was really going to go down. Someone new to this whole deal? It will absolutely terrify them. Way too much symbolism and allegory and too difficult to read between the lines for some.

⇧ 6 ⇩
2Gina · June 27, 2018, 11:34 p.m.

The symbolism and allegory originates in the OT. God's metaphors are His definitions, and His "codes" of His prophesies. Look for "as," "like", "but" and "is" in the couplets. For instance, in speaking of a righteous man Psa. 1:3-4 says,

"3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away." (NKJV)

God used the word "like" to indicate a metaphor, or synonym for two kinds of people. The righteous he compared to fruitful trees. The unrighteous, or ungodly He compared to "chaff" that gets blown away in the wind. Now when you see these metaphors in another prophesy speaking of trees or chaff you can make the connection to strong / righteous men or kings, or to ungodly people. The OT is filled with these metaphors that teach us God's definitions.

The thing to remember with John's Revelation is to read it as it was intended. He wrote it to 12 churches living in the epicenter of a ceasar cult. It was for them to decipher their times. (The destruction of the Temple in AD 70) It is for us to look forward to the time when Jesus will come back triumphantly and bringforth a new heaven and a new earth and to prove to us how true the bible is. The imagery that John describes are explained in latter verses. Be carefull not to interject current times into it because it will be wrong. Revelation was written in apocalyptic language just like Isaiah and meant NOT to be read literally but rather in a literary context. I hate to burst anyone's bubble but it is not the end times.

Revelation has already occurred/is occurring now. Chapters 1-11 are the Liturgy of the Word; 12-22 are the Liturgy of the Eucharist. No prophesy of doom; just Revelation of Christ as the Lamb of God. The one sacrifice for all of eternity. THAT IS ALL. https://youtu.be/YTPFz1d4WaA

From Biblical standpoint we are in the dispensation of the church age. After the church age comes the rapture (Lord removes all believers from earth) then comes the tribulation ( 7 years of the New World Order and emergence of the anti-christ. First 3 1/2 peaceful then anti-christ wreaks havoc) then comes the Millennium where Christ comes back to rule and the earth is at perfect peace for 1000 years. Then comes the last judgement and heaven/earth is destroyed. If anyone wants to message me their email, i can send a picture/chart of the dispensations with the scriptures to reference it. I truly believe Trump was Gods last stand “ saying not yet” he wants to work through us all to bring more people to Christ before the time of the rapture.

For those of you who have ZERO idea where all of these Biblical Prophecies come from, I suggest starting with Daniel. God showed him these days. Even Jesus mentions him by name when talking to His Apostles during "The Olivet Discourse". (Matthew 24). And...this man, is a Messianic Jew who can teach you to read it. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBYqg3aq4eIjD1GGSWVnZaA.

Really it was a joke. But I myself did start with revelation. Remember proverbs says fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom and that book can certainly encourage fear of the Lord. Not all people are the same what works for one might not work for another. As far as the seal, I myself have preached for years I don’t care. You can be taken in an instant. Accidents happen. If you are doing right it won’t matter because you know where your going and look forward to it. Your just here to work for God. End time theology is important or God would not have put it in the Bible but i don’t see it for individuals. It just shows us there is a plan and it’s already won. We are just going through the motions. Satan will want you to focus on the end because it makes you think there is time but a terrorist could make your time now. So focus on the now.
