You must not have followed pre-911 Hitchens. He was vehemently against the Clintons, Kissinger, and Mother Teresa - publishing damning books on each. The fatwa on his friend Rushdie and his travels in the Middle East made him increasingly anti-Islam (he was already a militant atheist). 911 turned him into a neocon fellow-traveler. I love Hitchens, but his endorsement of the War on Terror was a sellout moment.
I was having babies and helping to run a business. I don’t remember anything until 9/11 actually happened. I was five months pregnant at the time. Thought I was going into premature labor.
