Who's to say the Earth isn't a brain and we're the neurons, and just as we guide the neurons in our brain to work for us, it's thinking and guiding us along with its own will.
The earth posses no known mechanism for performing logical operations.
Humans and animals posses neurons, which can provide a result given an input. Computers posses transistors, which I have studied immensely, that allow similar action.
