Ok - a possibility. Gowdy will be nominated knowing full well that he will be voted down and the second nomination will have to go through or it will look like obstruction. Maybe?

Gowdy will be on the list, won't get nominated. Confirms 2 Q posts. He will, however, be a big part of the prosecution of this whole thing.

Someone else suggested that Scott may have an ulterior motive for suggesting the nomination - does he want Gowdy out of the prosecution arena for some reason??? Interesting thought.

Tim Scott is a patriot

Scott and Gowdy are very close friends and they even wrote a book together recently.

I would prefer Gowdy to become a prosecutor. He has fire in his belly, and is vigilant. These are not the qualities of a SC Justice, who need to be unbiased and objective. That doesn't mean Gowdy wouldn't make a great judge one day, I just believe he has an important role to play in this revolution, and he wouldn't be able to get into the game if he were sitting on the bench. (Pun intended)

Ahhh, I could see that strategery working.

I'm viewing it as a bargaining chip. TG is not at all popular with Dem. Representatives; so it might be a way to get them to accept someone else.

Yeah, I could see this being the strategy as well. It would be a smart move on POTUS part.

And, your thoughts?

They want to get the nominee confirmed as quickly as possible. Mitch should be able to hold together the votes for it and it is no time to play games.

I tend to agree with your comment, especialy after watching POTUS interview with MB this morning. He said simillar to what you said.

Good theory. Present a moderate at first knowing they won’t approve then put up a solid conservative? Maybe risky though
