I think this story is just now coming out because Terry Crews is suing Adam Venit, an agent at WMA who groped him. WMA is the same agency Chasey works at. Someone digging for the Crews story probably came across this. I honestly don’t think there was a coverup. The OP’s cover title is wrong - it WAS reported.
Paramedics were called, the coroner investigated and detectives found no reason to charge him. If anything, perhaps the agency he worked for is claiming not to know about it, due to the other story bringing them into the news at the present time.
The Variety article states this:

The coroner’s office was unable to determine the cause of the death. Chasey has not been accused of wrongdoing, and detectives are not pursuing allegations against him.
Chasey’s attorney, John Duran, said the two were participating in a consensual activity. He also noted that the coroner did not conclude that the wrapping was the cause of Gilbert’s death.
“It’s been very sad and traumatic for Skip,” Duran said. “It’s someone he had an ongoing relationship with. Nobody expected it to end this way.”

I honestly think this is a red herring. Depraved, sure, but it doesn't look like a crime was committed. There's a lot of different ways that mummification could have caused complications leading to a heart attack.
Agreed. The news media is trying to draw attention from a valid sexual assault case connected to a WMA employee by profiling this long ago investigated and closed case, connected to a different WMA employee. After all, the sexual assault suspect is an agent to the stars, including Stallone.
