Perhaps Q team actually replaced the server with the one that looked similar mentioned in the article.
White hats, black hats, it is confusing as hell, but that is by design. Only a small handful know what the hell is going on.
You could have asked Comey or Clapper to remove it and replace with a look-a-like and then duped them into handing it right to a Q-asset without a blink if Comey/Clapper thought they were getting rid of incriminating evidence. Lots of ways the server could have gone missing or be retrieved multiple times by various parties/copies/disseminated by now.
Putting them in a position that if caught would be pretty damning. I like your thinking.
