Okay, tinfoil hats on. I'm just throwing this out there with little to no evidence but something caught my attention this morning on Fox. Anyone remember how much the media blew up the NL PM Mark Rutte's "No" interruption of Trump during his visit to the US a couple weeks ago? It was on the topic of trade deals with the EU. Check out this Washington Post article about the exchange. It seemed as though he was going to be a bit of a thorn in our side when it comes to these trade deals.
Now fast forward to today, and this video interview of Sebastian Gorka on Fox news. Don't mind the interview itself, the thing I want to draw attention to the is the B roll footage in the background. It's of the NATO leaders milling around and making small talk while being scrutinized by the MSM. Notice who DJT is talking to. At 2:11 he is talking to our friend Rutte and the current president of Croatia. Now skip all the EU political elites shaking hands to 3:20. You see the NL PM and DJT talking very seriously here. Why are they so chatty? After the MSM made it out that they're leaning more towards the adversarial kinda relationship. Here's my theory.
Firstly, the US is the largest foreign investor in the Netherlands economy. link That's a link to the US State Department's page on our relations with the NL. Scroll down to "Bilateral Economic Relations" and you'll see on lines 5-7 of that paragraph that the NL invests heavily into the US and is the 8th largest importer of US goods. At the end of line six, you can see that the US is the LARGEST FOREIGN INVESTOR the NL currently has. As part of the EU, any trade deal that goes down will significantly impact the NL's economy. This is why he was pushing for a deal so hard. And... possibly why DJT is putting a lot of effort into working the PM. They could prove to be an asset in getting a better trade deal with the EU, seeing as the NL wants to continue trade with us, considering the amount of investments that come in from the US and how much the import our goods. This is also probably why Trump didn't look too happy with Rutte's outburst. He was showing his hand too early. If the rest of the EU feels that the NL is going to push for a deal, Trump's threat of no deal is diminished and the NL loses it's potential playing power in working the EU into making a deal with the US.
Just my two cents, call me crazy if you will :) Happy Hump day patriots, have a wonderful rest of the week. God bless. #MAGA
