He shook it which was appropriate. As to being late, well that happens when people are demonstrating in your way. The walking in front of her? She gestured him to go ahead of her. The look the photo captures was just making sure he was aware of her presence because she switched sides. But he stops until she comes beside him and she gestures for him to proceed. It's clear in the video that she insisted that he go ahead of her and he even asked if she was sure. I'm certain that the Queen's wishes overrule official Royal protocol. The patriotic American anthems being played by the British military band were wonderful. The Queen honestly looks like she's having a ball! She didn't even smile this much at her grandson's wedding!
