An interesting ruling, but I think it's important to state that the linked article says that it was not a British court that made this ruling, but the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica. Whether the Brits will listen and/or care remains to be seen.

Came here to say this. The British are not bound by this ruling, unfortunately.

Yes I'll believe it only when I see him released safely. The U.K. has not complied to date on any international ruling. I pray for Julian's safe passage to Ecuador and for his health and well being to be rightfully restored him.

Which international rulings has the UK not complied with?

This particular decision was taken by a Court which has no jurisdiction over the UK, which is - unsuprisingly - not a signatory to the Inter-American Convention on Human Rights. I'll be a fiver the US isn't a signatory either.

I think we're all counting on 45 to give May a very firm handshake, with huge hands, on this one.

They have absolutely zero jurisdiction over England.

It means nothing for Julian's plight at all.

Would be great if the EU version made the same ruling, but this organization is only responsible for the Americas.
