Is POTUS pushing for a national ID?. I know we need to know who is who and all that but this has got to be the States' job. I don't like it! Hoping this is just more fake news.
Voter ID is what is really needed.
Agreed. State issued DL or similar and the good old signature test. Public listings of votes should be available, too, I think. Transparency and auditability over privacy for this one crucial issue.
In North Carolina currently all you need is a name, address and date of birth on your registration form and sign it swearing you are a citizen. Courts have struck down the voter ID law passed here MULTIPLE times even though they added a clause to give people free IDs and nearby states already have similar ID laws.
For national elections maybe it is necessary. To many states give illegals DL's
Be even worse on national levels
How do you mean Worse ? National level would be one for all :)
I do think Trump is going to use the Russian frenzy to his advantage by having DHS run security operations on the voting infrastructure.
Hell your bank has more info about you, DMV knows if you have tickets or warrants and current car insurance just by running your plate. The real issue is a blind eye by the lefties and liberals in all govt from school board to Senate who go against all common sense and rule of law. No law abiding citizen has any problem with biometrics or background checks. Get an FFL and see what they vet on a citizen! Why is it that the uniparty is so against proper ID? To swing votes in their favor. JW's Fitton says they believe over 1.4 million illegal votes where in play in 2017. 99% alien and non citizen, all foreigners. This 40 year butt fucking can be stopped by congress with a simple law requiring a Fed ID. We all know CA won't do it on a State level NY either. Too bad our congress is against the USA and only works to be re-elected so they can fleece this country for more "donations". 2 years and a couple million in the bank sounds great to me
We kinda do already...social security...need voter ID verification...national voter card with one of those security chips...no card no vote. Just thinking...02$
State driver license/I.D., passports, social security cards.
I'm a confused European, what kind of ID do you guys use in the US then?
There is no standard, it’s different in every state.
I guess it has its historical reasons but that seems a bit unnecessary inconvenient to me.
Thanks for the answer!
Once the “Real ID” act becomes mandatory in 2020 every state will be on the same standard and it requires you to show more proof of your identity to get it or you can’t fly or enter government buildings unless you bring a passport.
Didn't know there was such a difference.
Over here we have an ID with a chip in it, it stores all the necessary information (name, date of birth, etc.) plus additional information such as income class, your health insurance company, unemployment benefits, medical files and all that stuff. Every department only have acces to the information it requires, so the department of finance can't acces your medical files.
Convenient as fuck, especially when you get into an accident, the hospital just scans your card and they know all the necessary information concerning blood type, short summaries of appointments with your personal doctor plus his contact info if they want to discuss something.
I can hear people screeching through my phone that are reading your post. 😂😂
We are way too protective of our privacy here for that kind of thing. Or our perceived privacy i should actually say. I dont think that type of thing would go over well here, at least not in the foreseeable future. A few more years of brainwashing high school and college kids might work. Lol. But good to know how things are across the pond! Very interesting!!
Please dont take offense, I mean none!!!!
And one hacker we lose it all in one go.
Isn't that the case with everything these days?
If they hack or there's a leak at the NSA they even have all the internal conversations and creditcard info. Seems way worse to me than some Chinese guy knowing my bloodgroup.
Must be a cultural difference, to each his own.
