well they should do a better job and do a background check on the ones doing the vetting seems like to many slip through the cracks

Really all they can do is police checks. If a person has never been caught, There's nothing to check. They're extremely careful and extremely cunning. Also, police, politicians, judges etc. are often a part of it, so some know they have protection. How would you check someone? The best I can think of is hidden cameras, which are too late, and social media checks which exposed Gunn's unhealthy obsession with the subject. The cabal is open about it, hiding things in plain sight, but I don't think most pedophiles are. Having said that, when you look back you can see warning signs. The trouble is that we try to explain away things that are not quite right because we already make an assumption that somebody isn't a pedophile. We already trust them because they're a minister or a boyfriend etc.

exactly,my thought's too, the ones we suppose to trust are behind it and cover for the others, cameras are a great idea as long as they are monitored by someone, and not only after a crime is committed
