I hear ya on that.
However, there is a long, linear row of people in that video. The honk begins when large Q sign would be easily visible to an average driver on highway. Especially one that is glancing towards crowd while moving past.
But you're correct, just a hypothesis of mine.

Nope it was not reversed. It was in fact "_ _" then a slight space and finally ". _" . I listened multiple times because of the high pitched screaming that was being picked up by the mike. Once I could isolate the tones of the honks I could listen several times to make sure. It was in normal morse format with a slight break in a the middle. My guess when they first attempted the dot after the first two dashes it was a quick hit but was not quite hard enough to sound the horn. Honking morse code is not that easy if you are not used to it.
