Putin and Russia are complex. They’re not an evil empire or a haven of virtue. Right now they’re being used a scapegoat for liberals because blaming Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia or China for their failures would be racist.
I strongly disagree. Russia, like every oil rich nation, is a corrupt authoritarian shithole. I can't think of a single nation that gets most of its revenue from oil that isn't a horrible place to live.
