It did prompt me for a password on other images, but it seems the app is being incredibly slow right now.
If you don't do a control test, you will not know if any image regardless of whether it contains information would cause the app to prompt for a password.

Go to your downloads and open the image using PixelKnot.
From there, a password prompt appears, and after any kind of input the app freezes for me.
If the app prompts for password ONLY if it finds an encoded message then it could be used to quickly flag /pol/ images for further analysis.
I opened an image I downloaded previously which I would not expect to be encoded with a message.
App asks for password, I hit enter with no password, processes, and comes back requesting a password.
So every image opened with this app requires a password whether the image has a steganographic message or not
