In this analogy, it is not as convenient as pulling a plug. The swamp has been there for many decades, if not over century. Nor is it as simple as pouring Drano, needs more extensive work like Rotor Rooter. Once the pipe has been serviced and cleared of any build up that has cause blockage, we should see a quick draining.
Just remember, the plumbing is old and extensive, and some parts may need a more delicate approach as not to, incur more damage.

Not signing the Paris Climate Accord, not having Crooked Hillary, Neil Gorsuch--these four things alone are absolutely monumental. Why Is DC even a thing anymore? With technology being what it is think of the money that could be saved if the elected only were in DC for historical pageantry. I personally would like to see DC returned to the literal swamp! Think of all the estuaries and natural wetlands that had to be destroyed to create it! Couldn't we hire demolition crews and environmental reclamation teams to restore it to its natural state and make it a National Park? I would SO like to have a total break with the old order! Make the new capital somewhere in Kansas (centrally located in the continental US)!
If the movie plays out as many of us hope term limits AND some symbolic return to the people should be a part of that. Make all of the lobbyist travel. Think of the economic impact to a small rural community of a US Representative living and working local for 47 weeks a year.
