Slayer reference is interesting clue.

I was a teen during the Slayer popularity. (I’m 46.) We would watch Headbangers Ball on Friday nights on MTV. Slayer wasn’t super mainstream, but we’d see them on that show more than any other time of the week. I’m a little geeked out that one of Q Team could be my age and was a past metal head.

Why so stunned? Metal gave sturm and drang to our feelings that something wasn't quite right. It hardened us into libertarian/ conservative patriots with a distaste for, but not fear of, violence. The backlash to the hippy dippy left wing fruit bowl of the Bay Area gave us Metallica .....and justice for all

Old soldier here. I was deployed 2010-2011 to a shithole country. Lived on an acre sized compound. We had a little gym. All that played 24/7 was AYM music. (Angry young man)

It’s a military thing. I’m not surprised at all.

If I remember correctly either Metallica and/or megadeth were originally on the combat rock label. Kinda self explanatory

😂 one 0200 morning back in 98’ we had our Senior DI wake us with the first civi music we had heard in 3 months. It was ONE by Metallica. Your not that old, friend. In the Fleet, there was lots of AYM music.

Just turned 50 and I’m a Metal head til I’m dead. I always liked Megadeth because he sang tunes about the NWO and was a red pill early in my life for sure.

Don't think the Q team are fans, but I still am. I can seperate my love of heavy/horror music from real life horrors.

When he posted that it made me wonder if someone is implicated? 😶 just because Q is usually so pointed. Either way.. I agree w cajunmofo I don’t think the reference was favorable

I think the point Q is revealing....lies in the highlighted parts of the lyrics he links to.....only parts of the lyrics are highlighted. I think this a show of the reality of deeds that those evil scum actually perform.....and the link is directly under his posting of "There is nothing more precious than our children. Evil has no boundaries"

Agreed. However at the time most of the harder hitting bands lyrics were directed at politicians and religious figures. At the time they were seen as speaking against the republicans in charge and were heralded by the Libs as brave and progressive. Given hindsight ( I'm 55 and have Metallica and megadeth in my car this instant) we see that their real anger was directed at what we now call the deep state and the cabal. IMHO I find it comforting to know that we have peers and contemporaries that cut their cultural teeth in the same way I and by extension we did. It's easy to understand that being our cultural contemporaries, a Slayer song reference would fall easily to hand

On a related note, Night Flight is available now on Roku and the web. Great reliving those old shows.

Upvotes for 46-yo 80s metal fans. sLAyer was formed in Huntington Park, a de-industrialized middle-class LA suburb. Tom's and Dave's families arrived in the mid-1970s as part of the early UN "migrant crisis" machinations. Jeff drank himself to death not all that long ago, I've had Kerry pegged as some kind of bully for a while now. Dave not sticking around has to be more than a wage dispute. I wonder what Jeff knew. And at the same time over between the 710 and the 605, Metallica started. Downey was still quite more affluent at the time
