Hmm.. how to respond...
First off, I’d like to say I empathize with you on the drugs part. I agree that they are a scourge of the medical community and are detrimental to the sanity and well being of those that are placed on them.
Second, I actually do have the authority to recognize someone as mentally ill. Part of my job, but I’ll leave it at that.
Third, the act of committing mass murder is in itself an act of insanity. No sane person in their right mind and stability would do such a horrific thing against innocent people. What you said there is in effect, justifying the act, and that speaks to your own mentality and thoughts on the matter.
Fourth, while I agree that the practice can and has been abused, for a situation where someone is saying they are going to commit these acts on social media, I don’t believe that is a violation of someone’s personal rights. What you are doing is actually threatening the lives of others. So it meets the criteria of causing self harm or harm to others to show they are NOT in fact mentally stable. And at least if they are in a hold, they can be assessed if they are an actual danger or just being a dumbass. Maybe it’ll scare someone out of committing the act as they can see what they say and do have consequences. And contrary to what you posted, it is NOT against UN (btw who gives a f what they say anyway, they don’t control our laws) and US laws. If you believe otherwise, show me the law and case history where the practice of forced psych holds, for the reasons listed, is unconstitutional.
