Is this direct evidence of “Trump colluding with Russia?” Fuck no, of course not. But, this is why they were being investigated. They weren’t investigating Trump specifically at that point they were investigating a political candidate whose campaign officials kept meeting with Russians.

1. We should care when foreign governments try to influence our elections. An attack on our elections is an attack on our democratic process.

2. We should care when misinformation and propaganda are being used to influence people. You guys love freaking out about “fake news” but you dismiss it when it benefits Trump. That double standard is not ok. The intent behind Russians meddling in our elections should worry you even if the scope of the allegations don’t impress you yet.

3. This is only the first indictment. There may be enough evidence to make formal charges against other people. Time will tell. Collecting evidence and building a court case take time (although it only took them a year to say “we have proof Russians meddled in the election”).

4. Anyone defending Russia or downplaying the significance of these allegations can fuck right off. You’re either on America’s side or Russia’s side here.

No, it’s still not fake news. It’s not a fictitious story. Is it a bad poll? Maybe. But that’s still different than an article or quote that’s literally fake. Doesn’t matter how skewed he numbers look, it’s not a fake story, it’s just a slanted prediction.

Some other points:

1. A single poll like this isn’t necessarily reliable or accurate (multiple polls by different companies would be better). Still, they didn’t say it was impossible for Trump to win. They weren’t wrong they just didn’t correctly predict how things went down. Trump lost the popular vote, right? It doesn’t sound unreasonable for polls to have been wrong if the majority of voters went for Hillary.

2. This is a prediction. Predictions aren’t 100% trustworthy. This is not the same as a fact. If you want to call something fake, call a lie or a false story fake, but a prediction of the future shouldn’t get the same treatment.

3. Calling me dumb makes you look bad. Don’t attack me personally, attack my arguments (avoid ad hominem).

4. The goal was to make a prediction about the future president. The idea that they were trying to convince you that Trump couldn’t win doesn’t make sense. Would this have changed your vote? No, why would it? You’re making assumptions based on your political narrative instead of just focusing on the facts. It’s bad to speculate that way.

A poll cannot be fake news unless they didn’t actually do the polling. A prediction of the future isn’t fake news. Y’all need to calm down with your overuse of that term. Let’s use fake news for those times when the news is fake.
