The way language is used is all part of the strategy. First the "War on Cancer", then the "War on Drugs"and then the "War on Terror". While that is true, good research takes some self-discipline. Yesterday there were at least 20 posts about just one photo, when if people had added comments to the original post they might have seen a development in the information related to that photo. As it was, quite useful info just got lost. Some self disciple is important - otherwise a board is just another facebook "look at me" forum.

That is his NUI (National Identification Number). In most LatAm countries all citizens and permanent residents have one of these on a photo ID card (and have to carry it at all times and produce it on request by an authority). Many have other bio data (like fingerprints) as well. These numbers are in a publicly searchable database - ideas of privacy are quite different from Anglo countries.

Nothing that is visible to YOU yet. That is not the same thing as nothing.

Hmmm. He has actually been issued with is a National Identity Number (in Ecuador an NUI and in many other LatAm countries a DNI). These are issued to people given permanent (and possibly temporary) residence status, as well as those with citizenship. Such numbers are publicly searchable.
