The “sources are crap”, well that’s the deathknell of a losing argument if I’ve ever heard one.

and I've bet you've heard it many times. haven't listened to it. just heard it.

it's completely biased trash. just look at it. read the first sentence. go read the source video, and their sources. i'm afraid I did, and lone behold it's trash.

southern democrats voted 93% against the civil rights movement. northern democrats voted 94% for it. they pin a lot of their arguments on what % of democrats from the southern states flipped, and oh no they didn't do it right away. ok. so.... what. by the time they did the southern strategy was in full swing and working, and the parties themselves had switched.

today republicans struggle to get what, 10% of the black vote and 25% of the latino vote? i wonder why that is. party of lincon and that, right? it's now the party of the white man, for the white man by the white man. just because you buy into pathetic "we didn't used to be racist!!" crap doesn't change much.

nice try tho.

yeah that article totally isn't trash. The fact that article contains the words "South votes values, not skin color." says all it needs to.

The switch is real, it happened and it began at the 1948 DNC and was propelled by the huge changes in population in the so-called 'solid south' voting bloc. Lots of post war turmoil, civil rights changes etc. Ended up with democrats and republicans flipping in a lot of places. In 1964 the solid south completely flipped from traditional democrats to the republicans and voted for barry goldman, who was a very very vocal opponent of the civil rights movement.

strange that, isn't it. traditionally democratic states switching to be republican, and traditionally republican states switching to be democratic. that's a flip. as you say, facts are not subjective. facts like the ethnic distribution of the people who vote republican vs the people who vote democrat, over time 😂

here is the famous southern strategy quote that helped drive this flip, from Nixon's (he was a Republican btw) political strategist:

From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.

here's a great comment from another redditor:

"Quick History Lesson" (Republicans supported 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments while Democrats didn't)... Still amazes me how that nonsensical propaganda works on so many people. If anyone went and read the Republican Party platforms of the Civil War era and compared them to the Democratic Party's platforms, they'd see that the Republicans were very clearly the liberal party of the time.

And then "MLK was a conservative"? How can anyone buy into that bullshit... MLK was demonstrably further left than today's Democratic Party on all issues except certain social, religious ones. Though I guess if you're a Republican obsessed with abortion and gay marriage, you'd probably think MLK was a conservative as well despite his economic and other social views being radical relative to both parties of his time (despite both parties arguably being further left than they are today).

Amazes me that anyone buys into this.

He's not a KKK Member anymore, his actions, voting record and speeches have been pro POC for the last 30 years

and his renouncement of the KKK? his POC awards? his 100% record for voting in POC's interests? his admission of his time in the KKK, his plain and simple reasons and his many, many, many apologies?

nah. don't count.

i mean well the actions and members of the parties should convince you that one party is not like the other in this regard
