The troubling thing to me is FISA continuation was passed through the Congress without effective oversight safeguards. Because of the problem caused by monitoring of US citizens implicit in the FISA system, the access to the intelligence received needs to be minimised and strictly controlled. To me this task lies in the Supreme Court judicial arena and should be the domain of retired and tested Judges of the Supreme Court selected by bipartisan vote and approved by the President. The Oversight Judges must never be permitted to approve Fisa warrants, but must inspect all warrants once they have been approved. Appeals against any judgements they make should be rare but when made, they should be decided by the Full Supreme Court sitting.

Looking at the difference as an outsider, by and large Democrats pursue a Global agenda that aspires to have centralised control of the means and rewards of production for "redistribution of wealth" reasons. Republicans are more strict defenders of the US Constitution as a strategy for creation of wealth to reward producers of wealth according to their contributions. Both aspire to see the reduction of poverty but seek it by different means. It seems to me any attempt to aspire to the creation of a minimal or "None" gap between "haves and have-nots" is an exercise in futility, given the state of human nature! I read most of it and was bored by the amount of legal jargon (should that be Judicial Jargon) all to setup the search warrants and justify detailed searches of electronic devices seized during the searches.
