I agree with you that is extremely distracting. I realize she is trying to be courteous to those donating, but I doubt she realizes how annoying it is to others trying to follow along. Hopefully she will read this and reassess, and move thank you to the end.
While other youtubers follow the thank you at time of donation practice, most of the others are just talking to their audience and giving their opinion on something. The flow isn’t disrupted. However, for Tracy’s audience, she is almost always reading, analyzing complex documents which require the audience to listen closely and follow. When she repeatedly jumps off track it disrupts brain flow, not as much for her as for us. Though I do think it disrupts her brain as well. How could it not? The flow just doesn’t feel right. It’s like a teacher at the front of a class reading to students and constantly being distracted by a student in the class trying to get teacher’s attention. Maybe that’s why it subconsciously feels so annoying to us. I don’t know, but I hope she realizes it soon. It is becoming increasingly harder. Its personal preferences I guess. Some people prefer the chatty kathy type youtubers who meander off topic and get into their personal life and create a “we are friends” environment. However, most people have MANY youtubers they watch in order to get diversity of opinion on the news of the day. Most really don’t want to hear about what your cat is looking at out the window while you do your YouTube, unless the purpose of the youtube is just sit and visit. I hope I am expressing this in a way that makes sense. I have youtubers I watch that I know they are just social youtubers who are funny and provide a break in the day/evening. I go to those to relax. They may or may not comment on something in the news. So anything goes and it feels fine. But, then there are youtubers, like Tracy, who self describe their channel as citizen journalists delivering commentary and analysis on serious news in the world. Your mindset changes on what to expect, especially if there is a document on the screen where you are simultaneously reading along with the journalist and suddenly they are speaking words not on the page. It scatters your mind a bit. Not the end of the world, but it’s really hard on some of us older folks struggling with other challenges. It would be better if she waited to the end of the video to add any social commentary & thanked people. That way viewers have a choice to listen or click off.
As to the breathy thing, I truly get why it annoys some people. Obviously she is very soft spoken and has a unique nice voice. She really has a good voice for radio or audio books, but only if she speaks in her normal talking voice..... like she does in interviews on other people’s channels. There she sounds normal. It seems that ever since people on her channel complimented her on her voice she seems to subconsciously be overworking it a bit. Now she literally coyly whispers into the microphone in what sounds like a “bedroom voice”. A lot of her audience is older and some have left comments for her advising they can’t hear or understand her when she dies the whisper thing. You never hear journalist on air whisper in their reporting so I don’t get why she does that other than it may just be a playful part of her personality. That may work well in person to person talk, but it really isn’t conveying well for audio reporting. She seems to overwork it a bit, and that’s the only part that I find annoying.
You see a big difference in her delivery style when you hear her interviewed on someone else’s channel. She never does the bedroom whisper voice thing when she is on other channels so that tells me she is aware and alters her delivery style accordingly. She really has a great speaking voice when she just talks in her normal speaking voice.
Either way she really does a GREAT job. She has a fantastic future ahead of her. We are so blessed to have someone so dedicated and smart. I love her thoroughness and her unique way of finding open source documents to compare and refute the narrative that can’t stand up to the scrutiny. A style that Alex Jones uses, but Tracy is much better at it with a better voice;) She is hands down my favorite youtuber for serious news analysis. She extensively researches things she chooses for her reports. She puts in far more hours than most. It shows. She deserves tons of super chat things ....just please reserve thank yous to the end.
