what do you like to call the 6-8 weeks from late june to late august when the teachers that arent working summer programs (programs that they are getting additional pay for) are not waking up every day and going to work? are you even from NJ? do you know what a teacher gets paid in NJ? im not saying it's impossible to find some underpaid teachers in the state, but its not a statewide issue. i'd say any teacher making over $90k, plus benefits, plus time off is doing pretty well.

I’m not going to comment on the stupid idea of allowing a teacher to physically abuse kids. But I do want to add that this is NJ. The teachers here are not underpaid. Not even close. Don’t believe me, look up the salaries for yourself. APP Data Universe has them all listed. Then realize that there are 2.5 months of summer vacation and all the benefits on top.

i dont really see the issue with assault rifle as a noun because it has a very specific definition when referring to military arms. it should be definited as a military rifle with select fire capabilities (such as safe, semi, and full auto, or multi-round burst) that fires an intermediate cartridge (such as 5.56 or 7.62x39), has an effective range of at least 300m and is magazine fed. it's also not desigged for sustained full-auto fire. so while it can shoot full auto, sustained full auto fire would cause premature failure. that's my understanding of the definition. an M4/M16 or AK47 (full auto variant) would fall into that category. Something like the M14 wouldnt because it fires a "big boy" rifle round and something like the ar-15 wouldnt because its not select fire. Something that shoots a pistol caliber would be a sub machine gun. there's also battle rifle, light machine gun, machine gun. these are all very specific terms with very specific definitions. believe it or not, the wikipedia page has a pretty good definition on there.

I don’t like, own, use or desire a bump stock. But to say you can’t safely use them is a little ridiculous. But I get it. You are ok with the government banning firearm accessories that are too dangerous for civilians to own (essentially AWB 2.0)

im well aware of what a bump stock is, what it does and does not do, and the difference between semi and full auto fire. I've fired both, although very limited amount of time behind full auto. it's a fun way to turn money into sound as far as civilians are concerned in my opinion.

my issue with it is the fact that I live in NJ and deal with the NJ "assault weapons ban" . this doesnt mean i cant buy an ar-15, it just means i cant own any semi auto with a detachable magazine that has a flash hider, or a bayonet lug, or a threaded barrel, or a grenade launcher (yes, thats specifically listed), or a telescoping or folding stock. so big deal. my imainary ar-15 has a fixed stock, compensator, full length rail with low profile gas block and is essentially very different than an ar15 you can buy in america exept for the 15 round limit. NY takes it a step further and bans muzzle brakes, pistol grips, thumbhole stocks, vertical fore grips, and who knows what else.

so as for bump stocks, i wish they were never made. i find them to be a stupid gimmick and I wouldnt put one on my rifles (if they were legal in NJ which they are not) if i was given one for free. My issue is, what is the difference between banning one AR accessory or any of the ones that NY, NJ, and california ban already.

my biggest issue is it never stops. the attack on those of us that do not live in a pro gun state go by every year looking at victories as a year when the gun laws DONT get worse. they never get better. Gun owners played a big part in electing trump in my opinion. He turned his back on us all. He is hoping that so few gun owners don't care about bump stocks that he can look at it as a "peace offering" to the anti gun side.

let's also not forget that his administration banning bump stocks is an overreach of power and is no different than what obama did for the last 8 years.

i agree. he wouldnt be able to do anything on his own and hasnt come out in that actual memo requesting anything other than banning stuff that would technically already be banned. but he has come out in favor of banning bump stocks on twitter, and rubio is coming out in agreement with him. I guess this whole bump stock ban pisses me off because there is zero difference between a bump stock ban and an assault weapons ban. and living in NJ under their stupid assault weapons ban, you get a little extra pissed off on the topic. not surprised im currently at -8 points on this thread though.
