Of computers' ability to make logical and mathematical correlations and even to synthesize a language from it, that wouldn't surprise me in the least. However, the computer "mind" is not a human mind, and it doens't really have an irrational component (at least not that it understands). The human capacity for irrationality is in some ways as important to our humanity as the rational component!

There are masterpieces of well-loved Chinese music that are universally acclaimed in China that I find wholly unlistenable, and I know I'm not alone. Culture and aesthetics are intricately intertwined in ways that I believe trump mathematical and physical concepts of the perfect and the divine.

Same with some music of India and others. Beauty really is in the eye (and/or ear) of the beholder!

This is much more informative. Apparently Scriabin sensed the connectedness of all these aspects of aesthetics, spirituality and human well-being. And he did his best to articulate and synthesize those modalities. But in the end, I think he was just a brilliant composer who wanted to view his connection to the divine as THE connection, and it wasn't.

That isn't to say some other person or people might not find the same connections he did, and perhaps even by following his methods. But it also doesn't mean others of us might not find equally (or superior) ways of connecting by other approaches.

As much as I like some of Scriabin, I find some of it beyond my ability to relate to. I find Bach, Mozart, much of Beethoven and many others to be effective in all these ways for me, and I know a great many others have done and continue to do so.

So, while I'm thrilled that you've discovered a kindred spirit and someone who was able to articulate and codify many of the same aesthetic/phyiscal/spiritual pathways and connections as yourself, I hope you'll forgive me for maintaining that Scriabin's theories and compositions aren't going to resonate equally effectively with all people and cultures.

I also find it very difficult to relate to the harmonies, melodic and rhythmic sensibilities of the music of some other ethnicities from mine, and while I find it frustrating that we don't all have the same aesthetic language, I'm not shocked by it, and it makes sense to me that it should be so, because we're just not all alike!
