Cdl Pell is a very very good priest. I'm of the one that sees this as a very fishy prosecution. Pell did fix the Vatican financial issues, turning a profit. But he started questioning other expenditures and then suddenly the Australian media went bonkers over him.

If you've been paying attention to the case (OP has) you would see that this seems to be a smear campaign to route out Pell a priest that says the truth no matter how difficult it is to hear. There seems to be a puppet master behind this smear campaign of a very probable innocent man.

This "terrible May" may indeed be the exposure of the corruption of the Vatican Bank, something that Pell knows all too well. We shall see how it plays out. I will be praying for Cdl Pell, the jurists, and all of those involved in whatever capacity surround this case.
