Shout out when you get here so we know how to help you.

Tonight we'll be looking at and discusssing a few general baking subjects and having our usual Q&A.

Baking Discussion Subjects & Q&A

  • Handoff Comms

  • Max post Length

  • Hardware - having a great mouse scrolling settings

  • What to expect when Q posts

  • What could go wrong?

If there's anything you think would benefit new bakers to discuss, just let us know.

Ahoy GYB, thanks for the fresh bread and the Qs!

I'll take a couple to start off -

How do you deal with a laggy board when baking? How do you get the timing right?

  • Bake as early as you can. I would start at 630 posts in bad lag. Better to have a fresh bread up earlier rather than after the present one finishes.

  • Baking from the index -

Have the index link bookmarked just in case.

https://8kun.top/qresearch/index.html

  • Create the new thread in the top area. You don't need to click 'create new thread' in index, the windows are always there.

  • Take a note of one of your thread title words

  • Once posted, rather than have to scroll to find your new thread / see if it's appeared yet, just CtrlF a word from your title. If your thread has posted you'll see quickly. Saves a lot of time.

  • Then from the thread listing in the index, simply click 'reply' and you'll be directed to the thread where you can enter the rest of the dough.

Continuing Classes

>>10524

Wanted to say that I saw your replies about the classes, and seeing as you all think it's of most benefit to keep going, I'm all in for it.

What do you all think about getting a schedule going where one of us took the class each week? Weekly is often too much of a commitment here, although I juggle. It would be good to get a break though, or to be here to answer Qs.

>>10535

Never enough rum my friend.

Understand. It does need a few of us here, at least a couple.

I really should be back in the kitchen as well.

I'm happy to keep on as we are for now, we can see how it goes.

Handoff Comms

So let's go over the handoff comms.

HANDOFF COMMS

Call and Response

Handing off mimics military comms.

As when you do a radio check, the initiator ends the comm:

- Current baker states they need a handoff

Baker requests hand off

- New baker responds

New baker requesting hand off

- Current baker responds

Baker handing off requests confirmation

- New baker

Handoff confirmed

- Old baker

Handoff confirmed

Basically its a redundancy to make sure

the new baker confirms the handoff, and the old baker confirms, this way there is zero chance for confusion.

The language I think is less important than the idea that there is a challenge, and then a response.

Awesome doc. Bless ya. Thank you.

Of course you're qualified. I can give you the videos, slides and pasta and you just have to post them and keep the class rolling.

Hello Anon, thanks for coming, good to see you.

Have you been in class before or first time? Would you like to learn to bake tonight, or join the Q&A? We can do both.

Excellent baker. I've saved it and will make a graphic. Meant to say to you, if you would like I can pass you the 'impact' font which is the one used for the slides and videos.

So if you're making any materials and want to match up you could use it if you wanted.

HOW'S YOUR MOUSE FOR BAKIN'?

Your hands and fingers work etremely hard when baking. Here's how to make it as easy as possible on them -

  • Have a great mouse

High quality, ergonomic mice are inexpensive these days. I just replaced my Rapoo (which was like a Jag), with a Jelly Comb (also boss).

Be good to your hands and treat yourself to a good mouse.

Mice with scrolling wheels on top are great for baking.

Mouse Settings

As a baker you'll be scrolling like your mouse has never seen. Make it easy on yourself by adjusting your scrolling settings.

With these settings, if you need to scroll FAST, you've got lightening speed.

Set at high: Choose how many lines to scroll each time

Anyone have any other tips for keeping our hands comfy while baking?

What to expect if Q posts while you're baking?

Bakers?

kek

Here's mine. You can expect -

  • Your body to come out in an instant cold sweat

  • You will sit straight up

  • Your hands will soak and possibly shake

  • Your mind will be telling you to keep it together

  • The bread to finish in 30secs from now

What to do as soon as you see a Q post -

  • Keep it together and go up to 5th gear

  • Log it in the dough. Use a formatting line from a post below

  • Look out for anons posting caps, videos or docs for the Q posts. They will.

  • Ready bake your new bake immediately

  • Line up your pastebin ready, immediately

  • Put a call out for anons to call out notables if that'll help you.

The main thing is to get the Q posts logged as priority. Anons will forgive you anything if you just get this part right.

BAKE SUPER EARLY

Possibly at 630 posts

Excellent point. I do that as well.

Q seems to time posts as well to sync and be as easy as possible on the baker.

Often he'll wait until you post an update (notes and Q posts), before posting again.

>>10656

I love it as well. Best buzz in the world.

REPORTING A THREAD OR POST

As baker you'll sometimes have to report something to the BO/BV team.

You could have made a mistake with the thread title and number

That's ok. Just report it and request that the BO/BV's rename it.

On your first post of the thread, beside the thread title, click on the triangle and 'report'. Type 'Requesting a rename to #2444. TY, baker'. A BV will rename soon and let you know in the thread.

Make a clear post about it as soon as you can in the thread - Incorrect Thread Number. This should be #2832

I have requested that the BV change it. Sorry folks, baker.

Somone could self dox

IF someone types in their email address, report the post for deletion as above.

Use the triangle on the actual post you're reporting.

It's good to tell anon not to do that any more, that it's not safe to share their info on here.

CP is posted

This is awful but it has happened. Report and click 'GLOBAL REPORT'.

Put a red text message out the the board to report as well.

A Global Admin (one who watches and admins all 8kun boards), will then be alerted and will delete/ ban the poster/posters

Double Bakes

If 2 or more threads are made, report the extra one/s as above, requesting the BO/BV's lock it / them.

Post a post on them directing anons to the working bread.

Anything missed that we would have to report, bakers?

Well done bakers.

It's nothing short of magical when the bread's alight and everyone pulls in to help.

Brings tears to my eyes often.

>>10672

That's great news. Fantastic.

>>10681

How about trying a clean up with a tool like JetClean or CCleaner anon. See if that helps. It's good to do it regularly.

>>10694

Always laugh when you do that. It works 100%. kek

Do you bake because you want to?

  • Absolutely. It's an absolute honor to bake for the Great Awakening and such an incredible band of anons. I feel humbled to be in this position and to have this opportunity to serve.

Do you bake because you feel you have too?

  • Sometimes. I feel I'm letting the board down and fellow bakers when off. Many times I've baked when I'd rather have been recouping energy, but I see the board as super important. Sometimes we just have to take a break though, and trust that others will step up.

Do you have your own agenda to baking?

My agenda for baking is always "How can I best serve Q, the movement and anons?", and "How can I improve?"

What would happen if people stopped baking?

Other anons would step up. This bread won't end until the fat lady sings. kek
