(POTUS WANTS SECTION 230) ELIMINATED

Sept 2020

Section 230

The Justice Department Unveils Proposed Section 230 Legislation

Today, on behalf of the Trump Administration, the Department of Justice sent draft legislation to Congress to reform Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. The draft legislative text implements reforms that the Department of Justice deemed necessary in its June Recommendations and follows a yearlong review of the outdated statute. The legislation also executes President Trump’s directive from the Executive Order on Preventing Online Censorship.

“For too long Section 230 has provided a shield for online platforms to operate with impunity,” said Attorney General William P. Barr. “Ensuring that the internet is a safe, but also vibrant, open and competitive environment is vitally important to America. We therefore urge Congress to make these necessary reforms to Section 230 and begin to hold online platforms accountable both when they unlawfully censor speech and when they knowingly facilitate criminal activity online.”

“The Department’s proposal is an important step in reforming Section 230 to further its original goal: providing liability protection to encourage good behavior online,” said Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey A. Rosen. “The proposal makes clear that, when interactive computer services willfully distribute illegal material or moderate content in bad faith, Section 230 should not shield them from the consequences of their actions.”

The Department of Justice is grateful to all the experts, victims’ groups, academics, businesses, and other stakeholders that have and continue to engage closely with the department during this process. The draft legislation reflects important and helpful feedback received thus far. The department is also grateful to our colleagues in Congress for their support on Section 230 reform and looks forward to continued engagement moving forward.

The Department of Justice’s draft legislation focuses on two areas of reform, both of which are, at minimum, necessary to recalibrate the outdated immunity of Section 230.

'Tyranny will not topple us': Michael Flynn's family thanks Trump for pardoning the ex-national security adviser who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI - as president tweets 'have a great life General!'

Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn's family has issued a statement expressing their profuse gratitude to President Donald Trump for pardoning him.

Trump on Wednesday pardoned Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his calls with the Russian ambassador, only to later seek to withdraw the plea.

'It is my Great Honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted a Full Pardon. Congratulations to @GenFlynn and his wonderful family, I know you will now have a truly fantastic Thanksgiving!' Trump wrote on Twitter. 'Have a great life General Flynn!'

'We are forever appreciative to President Trump for giving back to Michael his freedom in undoing a hideous wrong,' Flynn's family said in a statement shared on his Twitter account.

'Let it be heard across this great country and around the world that tyranny will not topple us. Masks will not silence us. Threats will not stop us. Evil will not triumph. We are Americans,' the statement added.

Flynn's attorney, Sidney Powell, also thanked Trump and called the case against Flynn 'one of the most egregious injustices I've witnessed in American history.'

'Enough was enough. We had passed the point of proving General Flynn's innocence, all of the evidence we've gotten since I joined the case shows that, and it was high time that he be exonerated of all these charges,' Powell told Fox Business Network host Lou Dobbs.

STEALTH TACTICS China secretly building military bases and village near disputed border with India, satellite images show

NEW satellite images show China is developing secret bases on a disputed border with India - in the latest sign of escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed powers.

Monitors say there has been construction of "new military storage bunkers" near the Doklam area, which was at the centre of a tense stand-off between the two fierce rivals in 2017.

According to US-based satellite operator Maxar Technologies the images - dated October 28 - show "there has clearly been significant construction activity this year all along the Torsa River valley area."

The area is along a hotly-disputed Himalayan border between India and Bhutan - which is seen as being of strategic importance to all three countries.

Three years ago military tensions flared in Doklam when China started to construct a road in the area.

While both countries sent troops to the area no lives were lost and eventually the situation was diffused.

Maxar Tech said the images show the newly-constructed Pangda Village, on the Bhutanese side of the disputed border as well as a "depot" in Chinese territory.

Beijing's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that "China's normal construction activities on its own territory are entirely within the scope of China's sovereignty, and there is nothing wrong with it."

Meanwhile, India's Ministry of External Affairs did not respond to a request for comment, reports CNN who broke the story.

TONS of Dog Comms.. Wolf thrown in here and there too.. here is one now:

Pennsylvania appeals court judge orders officials to HALT any further steps toward certifying election results showing Biden won - as Gov. TomWolfvows to fight the ruling and Trump celebrates 'Big News'

A Pennsylvania appeals court judge has ordered state officials to halt any further steps toward certifying election results.

The ruling on Wednesday comes a day after Governor Tom Wolf said the Pennsylvania Department of State had certified Democrat Joe Biden as the state's winner of the presidential election.

It wasn't immediately clear if the order from Commonwealth Court Judge Patricia McCullough could hold up the certification of state and local contests on the ballot or interrupt the scheduled December 14 meeting of the state's 20 electors.

'To the extent that there remains any further action to perfect the certification of the results of the 2020 General Election for the offices of President and Vice President of the United States of America, Respondents are preliminarily enjoined from doing so,' pending an evidentiary hearing, according to the judge's order.

Media going at Mama Kraken

Fired Trump lawyer Sidney Powell claimsIran and ChinausedVenezuelan voting machine softwareto rig election in favor of Biden and says 96,000 absentee ballots in Georgia were NOT recorded - in typo-ridden lawsuits with flimsy 'expert' evidence

A Texas-based lawyer kicked out of Donald Trump's legal team after spouting wild conspiracy theories at an RNC press conference has released what she termed 'the Kraken' - two law suits alleging 'massive voter fraud' in the presidential election.

Sidney Powell published a 104-page document detailing allegations about Georgia and a 75-page document looking at Michigan on Wednesday night, calling for the election results to be decertified, Trump to be declared the winner and voting machines to be impounded.

In the documents - released online at midnight on the eve of Thanksgiving - she alleged the election had been 'rigged' to favor Joe Biden, and that foreign powers were involved.

She tweeted: 'The #Kraken was just released on #Georgia', along with a link to her website.

She added: 'Exhibits to follow. Also #ReleaseTheKraken in #Michigan'.

Powell has pushed some of most extreme conspiracy theories around Biden's win. But, despite allegations from her and other Trump defenders, no evidence has emerged of widespread voter fraud. The Trump legal team - which has distanced itself from Powell and her two suits - has filed over 30 suits of its own in battleground states trying to overturn the election. The majority of them have been thrown out of court.

In her filings, the maverick lawyer spelled out claims she had previously made at a tumultuous press conference the week before - namely that Georgia and Michigan used election machinery designed by Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, who died in 2013, with the express wish of rigging the vote.

She alleges that China and Iran used these voting systems to influence the US election, and that 96,000 votes cast for Biden in Georgia were illegally counted.

The lawyer also claims that officials in one Georgia county forced everyone to evacuate because of a water leak, only for counters to stay unsupervised to tamper with the votes.

But Powell's filings were riddled with typos, with both misspelling the name of the courts they were being filed in.

In the Georgia filing, the court was named as 'United States Districct Court, Northern Distrcoict of Georgia', while the Michigan court was named as the 'Eastern Distrct of Michigan'.

Well so I have been thinking about things. Prior to Q being around, fringe sights were all we had to glean what we could on what was going on. Seriously. Until Q we had to discern good from bad. Go to the actual article it is decent and sauced for what they are reporting on. So someone who goes to CNN regularly might think 8kun.top/midnightriders/ would be like the blog site.. just another perspective to look at. As is only a few will give us what little we get, hence why Twatter/FacePlant/Social Media has played such a big part. Several high profile members of the Defense Policy Board were removed on Wednesday by the Trump administration, in yet another purge of longstanding foreign policy experts and national security establishment figures in the final days of the Trump era, according to three defense officials.

Members who were suddenly removed include former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Henry Kissinger, former ranking member of the House Intelligence committee Jane Harman and former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, two of the officials said.

The Defense Policy Board is an outside advisory group of former high profile national security officials who "provide the Secretary of Defense and the Deputy Secretary of Defense, independent, informed advice and opinions concerning matters of defense policy in response to specific tasks from the Secretary of Defense, the Deputy Secretary of Defense," according to their website.

"As part of long-considered changes, we can confirm that several members of the Department's Defense Policy Board have been removed. We are extremely grateful for their dedicated service, commitment, and contributions to our national security. Future announcements for new members of the board will be made soon," the third official said.

"As we adapt the Department for great power competition, I look forward to naming new board members in the coming days," Miller said.

Germany to double net borrowing for 2021 to fight pandemic impact

Germany plans to almost double the borrowing it had planned for next year to finance emergency aid for businesses during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said on Friday. The parliamentary budget committee agreed to a debt figure of almost 180 billion euros ($215 billion) - the second largest amount of net new borrowing in the history of post-war Germany.

“Our goal is to overcome this pandemic and grow out of it with full strength next year,” Scholz said during a virtual news conference, adding that the stimulus package for this year and next would result in new debt of more than 300 billion euros.

“We know that these are exceptional budgets in 2020 and 2021,” said Scholz. He added that the budget provided for financial support to be extended until June 2021. The new debt approved for 2020 will “by far” not be exhausted, said Scholz, and much will be postponed until next year.

Germany will extend and tighten a partial coronavirus lockdown and keep bars, restaurants and entertainment venues shut until at least Dec. 20. Chancellor Angela Merkel has suggested that the restrictions may well extend into early next year if infection numbers don’t fall significantly.

“The high debt is necessary to bring our country safely through the pandemic,” said Eckhardt Rehberg, a lawmaker of Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU). “We must once again make use of the exemption rule from the debt brake.”

Enshrined in the constitution, the brake restricts the issuance of new debt by limiting the federal budget deficit to 0.35% of economic output. Parliament suspended it this year in light of the pandemic.

Merkel’s government has already taken unprecedented steps to help companies and small businesses get through the crisis, freeing up billions of euros to soften the pandemic’s impact on the economy. The planned new debt of 179.82 billion euros for 2021 compares to 96 billion euros initially envisaged by Scholz in September.

Economy Minister Peter Altmaier, speaking during the same news conference as Scholz, said he did not expect lockdown measures to produce a “major wave” of insolvencies in the last two months of the year given businesses can draw on financial lifelines. “I believe that for the sectors primarily concerned (…) we have - through the November and December aid - created a possibility for the economic consequences to remain within manageable limits,” he said.

The government expects the economy to shrink by a calendar-adjusted 5.9% in 2020 and rebound by 4.4% in 2021.

Dollar falls to lowest level in almost 3 months

The dollar index fell on Friday, hitting its lowest level in almost three months, after strong economic data from China favored commodity currencies over safe havens and equity markets continued their rally.

The dollar has fallen more than 2.2% so far this month as global market sentiment has surged following Joe Biden's election victory and positive COVID-19 vaccine progress, which reduced demand for the safe-haven currency. The Australian dollar hit its highest level since September after news that China's industrial firms grew in October for a sixth consecutive month and at their quickest pace since early 2017, pointing to a steady recovery in the manufacturing sector after it was hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The British pound declined against the euro as the European Union and Britain said there were still substantial differences over a Brexit trade deal as the EU chief negotiator prepared to travel to London in a last-ditch attempt to avoid a tumultuous finale to the five-year Brexit crisis.

Mnuchin asks Republican senators to trust in future Treasury, Fed actions

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin wrote in a letter to Senate Banking Committee Republicans on Friday that he hopes they will continue to show trust in the Treasury and Federal Reserve to manage coronavirus relief programs.

Mnuchin came under fire from President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team and Democrats in Congress over his decision to allow some Federal Reserve coronavirus lending programs to expire.

His action limits the ability of Mnuchin’s expected successor, Janet Yellen, to backstop credit markets for mid-size businesses, municipal bond issuers and other borrowers should financial conditions worsen, but frees up some $455 billion in borrowed cash for Congress to re-appropriate for other uses.

left unsaid here is that it also limits future actions by Munchkins or any other Treasury Sec that he may be replaced by in POTUS' administration-dick move

While Democratic Senator Ron Wyden on Tuesday called the move “economic sabotage” that would tie Biden’s hands, some Republican senators had applauded the move, including Senate Banking Committee Chairman Mike Crapo, who said markets had stabilized, credit was flowing freely and the money could provide targeted relief for hard-hit sectors or reduce debt.

“As a result of Congress’s swift legislative action and Treasury’s and the Federal Reserve’s work to implement these programs, we have been successful in restoring confidence in financial conditions,” Mnuchin said in the letter to Banking Committee Republicans.

“It is my hope that, because of our responsible use of these authorities in a manner consistent with Congressional intent, Congress will show similar trust in Treasury and Federal Reserve leadership in the future.” A Treasury spokesperson said that the agency’s career transition team began meeting with Biden’s Treasury Agency Review Team following Monday’s decision by the General Services Administration to start the formal transition process.

The two teams would “share information and facilitate an effective transition,” the spokesperson said.

U.N. Seeks ‘New Social Norms,’ Declares Itself a ‘Trusted’ Coronavirus News Source

The United Nations has joined the World Economic Forum (WEF) to announce a global coronavirus news service, declaring the time has come for “new social norms” that seek out and correct “wrong” information.

Observing that social media is a mechanism for driving opinion on a host of issues, the two globalist organizations announced Thursday they want to “combat dangerous misinformation.”

“When COVID-19 emerged, it was clear from the outset this was not just a public health emergency, but a communications crisis as well,” Melissa Fleming, chief of global communications for the United Nations, said.

“We’re trying to create this new social norm called ‘pause – take care before you share’,” Fleming continued. “We’re equipping people, through this new social norm, with a bit of ‘information scepticism’.”

The U.N. is also encouraging social media influencers to help spread what it selects as “real news about the pandemic,” recruiting them in their tens of thousands to spread the digital messages the U.N. itself has deemed necessary.

“So far, we’ve recruited 110,000 information volunteers, and we equip these information volunteers with the kind of knowledge about how misinformation spreads and ask them to serve as kind of ‘digital first-responders’ in those spaces where misinformation travels,” Fleming said.

U.N. chief Antonio Guterres is pleased to enter the global information age and seek out “wrong think.”

Put your trust in the U.N. alone and all will be well, is his simple alternative message.

As Breitbart News reported, in March the Chinese Communist Party declared the coronavirus did not start in the city of Wuhan, claiming support from both the U.N. and World Health Organization (W.H.O.) in rejecting “hurtful” U.S. allegations to the contrary as “bald-faced racism and xenophobia.”

This was supported directly by the United Nations which had earlier worked to deflect any criticism of the Chinese Communist Party and China.

“Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel [coronavirus] identified in [Wuhan],” the WHO wrote on Twitter.

The W.H.O. was later forced to backtrack on its stand and concede the coronavirus is indeed capable of human-to-human transmission and presented a huge risk to global health.

Now it hopes the rest of the world will fall into line and observe its dictats as driven by selected social media warriors.

REBELLION DEFENSE - ERIC SCHMIDT Pentagon, Special Operations, Kissinger PT1

https://reportglobalnews.com/2020/05/i-could-solve-most-of-your-problems-eric-schmidts-pentagon-offensive/

‘I Could Solve Most of Your Problems’: Eric Schmidt’s Pentagon Offensive

In July 2016, Raymond Thomas, a four-star general and head of the U.S. Special Operations Command, hosted a guest: Eric Schmidt, the chairman of Google.

General Thomas, who served in the 1991 gulf war and deployed many times to Afghanistan, spent the better part of a day showing Mr. Schmidt around Special Operations Command’s headquarters in Tampa, Fla. They scrutinized prototypes for a robotic exoskeleton suit and joined operational briefings, which Mr. Schmidt wanted to learn more about because he had recently begun advising the military on technology.

After the visit, as they rode in a Chevy Suburban toward an airport, the conversation turned to a form of artificial intelligence.

“You absolutely suck at machine learning,” Mr. Schmidt told General Thomas, the officer recalled. “If I got under your tent for a day, I could solve most of your problems.” General Thomas said he was so offended that he wanted to throw Mr. Schmidt out of the car, but refrained.

Four years later, Mr. Schmidt, 65, has channeled his blunt assessment of the military’s tech failings into a personal campaign to revamp America’s defense forces with more engineers, more software and more A.I. In the process, the tech billionaire, who left Google last year, has reinvented himself as the prime liaison between Silicon Valley and the national security community.

Mr. Schmidt now sits on two government advisory boards aimed at jump starting technological innovation at the Defense Department. His confidants include former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and ex-Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work. And through his own venture capital firm and a $13 billion fortune, Mr. Schmidt has invested millions of dollars into more than half a dozen defense start-ups.

In an interview, Mr. Schmidt — by turns thoughtful, pedagogical and hubristic — said he had embarked on an effort to modernize the U.S. military because it was “stuck in software in the 1980s.”

He portrayed himself as a successful technologist who did not believe in retirement and who owed a debt to the country for his wealth — and who now had time and insight to solve one of America’s hardest problems. The goal, he said, “should be to have as many software companies to supply software of many, many different kinds: military, H.R. systems, email systems, things which involve military intelligence, weapons systems and what have you.”

Mr. Schmidt is pressing forward with a Silicon Valley worldview where advances in software and A.I. are the keys to figuring out almost any issue. While that philosophy has led to social networks that spread disinformation and other unintended consequences, Mr. Schmidt said he was convinced that applying new and relatively untested technology to complex situations — including deadly ones — would make service members more efficient and bolster the United States in its competition with China.

His techno-solutionism is complicated by his ties to Google. Though Mr. Schmidt left the company’s board last June and has no official operating role, he holds $5.3 billion in shares of Google’s parent, Alphabet. He also remains on the payroll as an adviser, earning a $1 annual salary, with two assistants stationed at Google’s Silicon Valley headquarters.

‘I Could Solve Most of Your Problems’: Eric Schmidt’s Pentagon Offensive

That has led to allegations that Mr. Schmidt is putting Google’s financial interests ahead of other considerations in his defense work. Late last year, a federal court ordered a congressional advisory committee he leads to turn over records that could shed light on whether Mr. Schmidt had advocated his business interests while heading the group.

Mr. Schmidt said he had followed rules to avoid conflicts. “Everybody is rule-bound at the Pentagon, and we are too,” he said.

Google and the Defense Department declined to comment on Mr. Schmidt’s work.

Even without those complications, shifting the military’s path is no simple task. While Mr. Schmidt has helped generate reports and recommendations about technology for the Pentagon, few have been adopted.

“I’m sure he’ll be frustrated,” said Representative Mac Thornberry, a Republican of Texas who nominated Mr. Schmidt in 2018 to an advisory committee on A.I. “Unlike the private sector, you can’t just snap your fingers and make it happen.”

Mr. Schmidt acknowledged that progress was slow. “I am bizarrely told by my military friends that they have moved incredibly fast, showing you the difference of time frames between the world I live in and the world they live in,” he said.

But he said he had little intention of backing down. “The way to understand the military is that the soldiers spend a great deal of time looking at screens. And human vision is not as good as computer vision,” he said. “It’s insane that you have people going to service academies, and we spend an enormous amount of training, training these people, and we put them in essentially monotonous work.”

‘I Could Solve Most of Your Problems’: Eric Schmidt’s Pentagon Offensive

‘You Want to See These Things’

Mr. Schmidt’s first brush with the military came in 1976, while he was in graduate school at the University of California, Berkeley. There, he focused on research on distributed computing, funded by money from Darpa, a research arm of the Defense Department.

The work catapulted Mr. Schmidt into his technology career. After completing his graduate studies in computer science, he worked at various tech companies for more than two decades, including the networking software maker Novell. In 2001, Google appointed him chief executive.

The search engine company was then in its infancy. Its 20-something founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, were fresh out of a Stanford University doctorate program and had little business experience. Mr. Schmidt was hired to help guide them, providing “adult supervision,” which he did — and then some.

Mr. Schmidt took Google public in 2004 and built it into a behemoth, diversifying into smartphones, cloud computing and self-driving cars. The success turned him into a business celebrity. In 2009, he served as a tech adviser to the Obama administration.

In 2011, with Google worth nearly $400 billion, the company announced Mr. Page was ready to resume the C.E.O. reins. Mr. Schmidt became executive chairman.

In that role, Mr. Schmidt took on new projects, many of which brought him to Washington. In 2012, he participated in classified briefings on cybersecurity with Pentagon officials as part of the Enduring Security Framework program. In 2015, he attended a seminar on the banks of the Potomac River, hosted by then-Defense Secretary Ash Carter, on the use of technology inside the government.

“It was all interesting to me,” Mr. Schmidt said. “I didn’t really know much about it.”

He also traveled to North Korea, Afghanistan and Libya while writing a book about technology and diplomacy, and dabbled in politics, lending technical support to Hillary Clinton in the run-up to her 2016 presidential campaign.

His venture capital fund, Innovation Endeavors, was active too. It invested in start-ups like Planet Labs, which operates satellites and sells the imagery to defense and intelligence agencies, and Team8, a cybersecurity company founded by former Israeli intelligence members.

REBELLION DEFENSE - ERIC SCHMIDT Pentagon, Special Operations, Kissinger PT4'

https://reportglobalnews.com/2020/05/i-could-solve-most-of-your-problems-eric-schmidts-pentagon-offensive/

‘I Could Solve Most of Your Problems’: Eric Schmidt’s Pentagon Offensive

At the 2016 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Mr. Carter asked Mr. Schmidt to meet. He had a proposal: Could Mr. Schmidt lead the Defense Innovation Board, a civilian advisory group tasked with bringing new technology to the Pentagon?

“We were in one of these dumpy hotels, and there he is with his small entourage walking in, and he basically said to me, ‘This is what I want to do. You’d be the perfect person to be chairman,’” Mr. Schmidt said.

Mr. Schmidt said he turned down the role because he was busy and had no military background. But Mr. Carter argued that Mr. Schmidt’s tech expertise was needed, as the U.S. military — which had once been a center of innovation — was falling behind companies like Google and Facebook in software and A.I.

Mr. Schmidt ultimately agreed. (Mr. Carter did not respond to requests for comment.)

As head of the Defense Innovation Board, Mr. Schmidt began touring military bases, aircraft carriers and plutonium strongholds. The trips, which took Mr. Schmidt to about 100 bases in places like Fayetteville, N.C., and Osan, South Korea, were a distinct break from his well-heeled life in Silicon Valley.

“You want to see these things,” Mr. Schmidt said. “I got the nuclear missile tour. Things that are hard. I got a tour of Cheyenne Mountain so I could understand what their reality was.”

One of the first trips was to Tampa to visit General Thomas, who is known as Tony, where Mr. Schmidt saw maps and live video feeds displayed on massive screens. “Eric’s observation was that a huge part of what the military does is it sits and watches,” said Josh Marcuse, the then executive director of the Defense Innovation Board who was on the trip.

The visits made tangible what Mr. Carter had told Mr. Schmidt about how the military was lagging in technology. Mr. Schmidt soon made suggestions to change that.

Some of his ideas were impractical. Eric Rosenbach, then the chief of staff to Mr. Carter, recalled Mr. Schmidt once telling him that the Pentagon would be better off if it hired no one but engineers for a year.

Others were useful. At an Air Force facility in Qatar in 2016, Mr. Schmidt visited officers who scheduled flight paths for the tankers that refueled planes. They used a white board and dry-erase markers to set the schedule, taking eight hours to complete the task.

Mr. Schmidt said he recalled thinking, “Really? This is how you run the air war?” Afterward, he and others at the Defense Department worked with the tech company Pivotal to ship software to the officers.

‘I Could Solve Most of Your Problems’: Eric Schmidt’s Pentagon Offensive

On another trip to a military base in South Korea in 2017, an intelligence analyst complained to Mr. Schmidt that the software he used to review surveillance videos from North Korea was clunky.

“Let me guess,” Mr. Schmidt said, according to a Defense Department aide who traveled with him. “You don’t have the flexibility to change that.”

In December 2017, Mr. Schmidt stepped down as Google’s chairman but remained on the board. He said he was seeking a new chapter.

“If I stayed as chairman, then next year would have been the same as the previous year, and I wanted a change of emphasis,” said Mr. Schmidt. “As chairman of Google, what I did is I ran around and gave speeches, and went to Brussels and all the things that Google still does today. It’s much better to work on these new things for me.”

Google declined to comment on Mr. Schmidt’s departure as chairman.

By then, Mr. Schmidt’s ties to Google had caused problems in his defense work. In 2016, Roma Laster, a Defense Department employee, filed a complaint at the agency raising concerns about Mr. Schmidt and conflicts of interest, Mr. Marcuse said.

In the complaint, earlier reported by ProPublica, Ms. Laster, who worked with the Defense Innovation Board, said Mr. Schmidt had asked a service member what cloud computing services their unit used and whether they had considered alternatives. She said Mr. Schmidt faced a conflict of interest because he worked for Google, which also provides cloud services.

Mr. Marcuse, who now works at Google, said Mr. Schmidt was “scrupulous and diligent” in avoiding conflicts. Mr. Schmidt said he followed the rules forbidding conflicts of interest. Ms. Laster did not respond to requests for comment.

Mr. Schmidt soon got caught up in another issue between Google and the military. Google had signed a contract in 2017 to help the Pentagon build systems to automatically analyze drone footage to identify particular objects like buildings, vehicles and people.

Mr. Schmidt was a proponent of the effort, called Project Maven. He said he encouraged the Pentagon to pursue it and testified in Congress about the project’s merits, but was not involved in the agency’s selection of Google.

But the effort blew up in 2018 when Google employees protested and said they did not want their work to lead to lethal strikes. More than 3,000 workers signed a letter to Mr. Pichai, saying the contract would undermine the public’s trust in the company.

It was a black eye for Mr. Schmidt. Military officials, who said Project Maven was not being used for lethal missions, condemned Google for abandoning the contract. Google employees also criticized Mr. Schmidt’s ties to the Pentagon.

“He has very different goals and values than the engineers at his company,” said Jack Poulson, a Google employee who protested Mr. Schmidt’s military work and who has since left the company.

Mr. Schmidt said he sidestepped discussions about Project Maven because of conflict-of-interest rules, but wished he could have weighed in. “I would have certainly had an opinion,” he said.

Last April, Mr. Schmidt announced he planned to leave Google’s board. He had helped create an A.I. center backed by the Pentagon in 2018 and had also become co-chair of the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence, a new group advising Congress on developing A.I. for defense.

A month after leaving Google, Mr. Schmidt invested in Rebellion Defense, a software start-up founded by former Defense Department employees that analyzes video gathered via drone. His venture firm later put more money into the company, and Mr. Schmidt joined its board.

The investment led to more trouble. The Electronic Privacy Information Center, a nonprofit privacy and civil liberties group, sued the A.I. commission last September for failing to turn over records. EPIC said the group was stacked with industry executives like Mr. Schmidt and others from Microsoft, Amazon and Oracle, who could potentially sway the government in favor of their companies’ interests.

Mr. Schmidt was under scrutiny because of Rebellion Defense and how he could push the government to use the start-up’s services, EPIC said.

“We don’t have any public disclosure about what information Eric has provided to the commission about his business interests,” said John Davisson, an attorney at EPIC.

In December, a district court ruled the A.I. commission must disclose the records requested by EPIC. The commission has released hundreds of pages of documents, most of which do not involve Mr. Schmidt or his businesses. EPIC said more records are set to be released.

Chris Lynch, the chief executive of Rebellion Defense, said Mr. Schmidt advised the company solely on hiring and growth. Mr. Schmidt said he did not advocate for the Defense Department to buy technology from the start-up.

He has continued plowing ahead. In November, he unveiled a $1 billion commitment through Schmidt Futures, the philanthropic firm that he runs with his wife, Wendy, to fund education for those who want to work in public service.

“People listen to me, either because I’m right, or because I’m from Google in the past, or they knew me, or because I can bring money to the table,” he said. “I don’t care, as long as I have a positive impact.”

Six U.S. Oil Executives Are Convicted of Corruption in Venezuela

CARACAS, Venezuela — A Venezuelan judge on Thursday found six American oil executives guilty of a wide-ranging corruption scheme and immediately sentenced them to prison.

The so-called Citgo 6 — employees of the Houston-based Citgo refining company, which is owned by Venezuela’s state oil company, PDVSA — had been lured to Venezuela three years ago for a business meeting and arrested.

The men — Gustavo Cárdenas, Jorge Toledo, Tomeu Vadell, Jose Luis Zambrano, Alirio Jose Zambrano and Jose Angel Pereira — each face more than eight years in prison. Five are Venezuelan-Americans with roots in Texas and Louisiana, and one is a permanent U.S. resident, according to media reports.

Five of the men were sentenced to prison terms of eight years and 10 months, while one received a 13-year sentence. A defense lawyer, Jesus Loreto, said the five with lesser terms could be released on parole in a couple of years.

Relatives of the men say they had been wrongly convicted, and defense lawyers vowed to appeal Thursday’s verdicts. Alirio Rafael Zambrano, whose two brothers are among the defendants, said that they were “undeniably innocent” and victims of “judicial terrorism.” No evidence presented in the case supports a guilty conviction, he said.

“We, the family, are heartbroken to be separated even further from our loved ones,” Mr. Zambrano said by phone from New Jersey. “We pray that the leaders of our nation step forward and continue to fight unceasingly for their freedom and human rights.”

Damage from the Covid mRNA Vaccine is Irreversible

Hesitancy is Widespread, Even Among Medical Professionals

Robert F. Kennedy Jr: COVID19 Vaccine Should Be Avoided At All Cost

I would like to draw your attention urgently to important issues related to the next Covid-19 vaccination. For the first time in the history of vaccination, the so-called last generation mRNA vaccines intervene directly in the genetic material of the patient and therefore alter the individual genetic material, which represents the genetic manipulation, something that was already forbidden and until then considered criminal.

This intervention can be compared to genetically manipulated food, which is also highly controversial. Even if the media and politicians currently trivialize the problem and even stupidly call for a new type of vaccine to return to normality, this vaccination is problematic in terms of health, morality and ethics, and also in terms of genetic damage that, unlike the damage caused by previous vaccines, will be irreversible and irreparable.

Dear patients, after an unprecedented mRNA vaccine, you will no longer be able to treat the vaccine symptoms in a complementary way. They will have to live with the consequences, because they can no longer be cured simply by removing toxins from the human body, just as a person with a genetic defect like Down syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, Turner syndrome, genetic cardiac arrest, hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, Rett syndrome, etc.), because the genetic defect is forever!

This means clearly: if a vaccination symptom develops after an mRNA vaccination, neither I nor any other therapist can help you, because the damage caused by the vaccination will be genetically irreversible. In my opinion, these new vaccines represent a crime against humanity that has never been committed in such a big way in history. As Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg, an experienced doctor, said: In fact, this “promising vaccine” for the vast majority of people should be FORBIDDEN, because it is genetic manipulation! ”

The vaccine, developed and endorsed by Anthony Fauci and funded by Bill Gates, uses experimental mRNA technology. Three of the 15 human guinea pigs (20%) experienced a “serious adverse event”.

Note: messenger RNA or mRNA is the ribonucleic acid that transfers the genetic code of the DNA of the cell nucleus to a ribosome in the cytoplasm, that is, the one that determines the order in which the amino acids of a protein bind and act as a mold or pattern for the synthesis of that protein.

Another deal has been struck in the rapidly evolving market for gene therapy manufacturing. Just two months after Catalent jumped big time into the gene therapy realm, it is adding a couple of small vaccine production sites and 100 employees to its operation. Catalent, which in April struck a $1.2 billion all-cash deal for gene therapy CDMO Paragon Bioservices, is now picking up the gene manufacturing operations of vaccine biotech Novavax. Catalent will pay $18 million up front for the production equipment and other assets and take over the leases on Novavax's sites in Gaithersburg and Rockville in Maryland, as well as about 100 employees. Novavax is negotiating a long-term arrangement with Paragon to provide process development and manufacturing services for specified Novavax programs. A veteran police lieutenant was reassigned last week after a one-day trip to Chicago by Attorney General William Barr caught Chicago Police Department leadership and the mayor’s office by surprise.

Sources told the Chicago Sun-Times that Lt. Patrick Quinn was pulled from his position in the Crime Prevention and Information Center in police headquarters and sent to the Rogers Park District on the North Side after Mayor Lori Lightfoot and CPD brass learned of Barr’s visit during a conference call Nov. 17 — just a day before Barr, the nation’s top law enforcement officer, was scheduled to arrive in Chicago.

Quinn could not be reached Tuesday and representatives for the CPD lieutenant’s union did not respond to inquiries. Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s office referred questions to the CPD, which declined to comment on Quinn’s move.

“All personnel decisions are made by the Chicago Police Department Superintendent and his leadership team,” mayoral spokesman Pat Mullane said.

The nature of Barr’s visit remains unclear, and a representative for the Department of Justice declined to comment on the attorney general’s trip. A representative for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago said Barr did not meet with anyone from the local federal prosecutors’ office.

“That’s when the sparks started flying,” said a high-ranking CPD source familiar with the call.

The Crime Prevention and Information Center, known as CPIC, is a fusion center in the CPD’s Bronzeville headquarters that works to coordinate intelligence and law enforcement efforts among local, state and federal agencies.

At the time of his reassignment, Quinn was overseeing CPIC in place of Cmdr. Mel Roman, who was on furlough last week, according to police sources.

Quinn has been with the CPD for 19 years and is well-respected among his colleagues. “His institutional knowledge can’t be touched by anyone in this department. We are actually weaker now because of this,” another police source said.

Earlier this year, two other police officials were demoted and reassigned after a conference call with Lightfoot.

Sources previously told the Sun-Times that Ronald Kimble, the former commander of the CPD’s Narcotics Division, appeared to irk Lightfoot during a conference call in May. Shortly thereafter, Kimble and William Bradley, then the deputy chief of the CPD’s Criminal Networks Group, were demoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned to patrol districts on the North Side.

Barr was also in Chicago last September, touting the efficacy of “Operation Legend,” a federal initiative aimed at curbing violent crime. CPD officials declined to join Barr at his news conference, which Barr said was “just the way things roll here in Chicago.” Lightfoot later told reporters the city would not be used as a “prop” by an administration that has continued to “bad-mouth Chicago, making misleading and outright false statements.”

Eric Clapton Collabs With Van Morrison On Anti-Lockdown Song, Gets Called ‘White Supremacist’

Liberals seethe over news of new collaboration against COVID fearmongering between two legendary rock musicians

Legendary rock-and-roll guitarist and vocalist Eric Clapton is collaborating with Van Morrison on a song called “Stand and Deliver” that is critical of United Kingdom’s laughably stringent COVID lockdowns and their effects on live music. Predictably, liberals on Twitter are seething uncontrollably over the news.

Clapton, the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, told Variety magazine that he chose to collaborate with Morrison on the song after finding the effect of lockdowns on musicians “deeply upsetting.”

“We must stand up and be counted because we need to find a way out of this mess. The alternative is not worth thinking about. Live music might never recover,” Clapton stated.

Morrison, who founded the Save Live Music campaign, said “Eric’s recording is fantastic and will clearly resonate with the many who share our frustrations,” adding, “It is heart-breaking to see so many talented musicians lack any meaningful support from the government, but we want to reassure them that we are working hard every day to lobby for the return of live music, and to save our industry.”

The attacks on Clapton from unknown verified profiles on Twitter began almost immediately. Buzzwords such as “white supremacist,” stemming from Clapton’s collaboration with Morrison and and off-the-cuff remarks he made onstage in support of British nationalism in 1976, appeared at the vanguard of the outrage machine.

Van Morrison previously announced the release of three anti-lockdown songs in September, after calling the U.K.’s COVID policies “fascist”:

Van Morrison will soon release three protest songs that slam the coronavirus lockdowns in the UK as being “fascist,” claiming they “enslave” the population.

Van Morrison, the Northern Irish singer behind such hits as “Brown Eyed Girl” and “Gloria,” is set to release the three coronavirus-themed songs over the next couple of weeks, called “No More Lockdown,” “As I Walked Out,” and “Born to Be Free.”

“No More Lockdown” has the strongest messaging of the three. Morrison sings:

No more lockdown / No more government overreach / No more fascist bullies / Disturbing our peace … No more taking of our freedom / And our God-given rights / Pretending it’s for our safety / When it’s really to enslave…

It also slams “celebrities telling us what we’re supposed to feel,” and “Imperial College Scientists making up crooked facts,” with the latter likely being a reference to Professor Neil Ferguson, whose flawed model that claimed there would be hundreds of thousands of deaths in the UK pushed the government into locking down the country. Ferguson was later caught breaking the rules to have an affair with his mistress.

“Stand and Deliver” will be released on December 4, and proceeds will benefit Morrison’s Lockdown Financial Hardship Fund for musicians struggling during lockdown.
