The WHO has announced that it intends to update its “widely-used gender mainstreaming manual.”

The body says of the manual that it is “updating it in light of new scientific evidence and conceptual progress on gender, health and development.”

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi told the country's cabinet in a statement Thursday he will resign after losing the support of the populist government coalition partner Five Star, but Italian President Sergio Mattarella later rejected the resignation. Five Star leader Giuseppe Conte indicated his group is willing to continue talking with Draghi and said the group is "available for dialogue and to give a contribution to the government."

Mattarella and other leaders in the parliament are looking to hold the current government coalition together at least until elections scheduled for early 2023 for the good of the nation. Understand this: there is an infinite supply of all Gov't Fin. products because of the term 'hypothecation'-explained below. We will be using the Mortgage market(s)-specifically how the M.E.R.S. system enabled 100's of claims on one mortgage, Silver trading (secondary) in the same way (but worse) and how this is directly relatable the those operations at the NYFRB.

In this presentation we will be looking at the Mortgage market(s), Commodities-specifically precious metals for the term 'rehypothecation', and stocks. It will seem that this jumps around a little but there is a method here as all of this is connected back to what the New York Federal Reserve does with it's daily operations with Treasuries/Mortgage-Backed Securities and GSE-issued debt. They also do Currency swaps and as you've seen the over $11B they have done with the ECB stil has not helped the EURO >>139491, >>142756 pb Today is particularly pertinent as you've seen the Silver Spot price completely smashed down to around $18/oz-$18.13 to be precise see here: https://www.kitco.com/charts/livesilver.html and tbh it looks like we will see $16 soon. Moar on that tomorrow as they spent a TON of money to accomplish that today-as of yesterday the system has 'traded' 2,141,410,000/ozs and we'll be able to add about 1 billion moar to that tomorrow. This (the actual trading function) is not directly related to hypothecation/rehypothecation for out example(s) but the price is derived from that proces and something you need to be aware of. Remember all of this is priced in US Federal Reserve Notes-FIAT currency-try to keep taht in mind as they blow the dollar up and all the other currecies lower.

We'll need to have some basic terms explained-one of which is 'Hypothecation' which is 'book' defined in this way: Hypothecation occurs when an asset is pledged as collateral to secure a loan. The owner of the asset does not give up title, possession, or ownership rights, such as income generated by the asset. However, the lender can seize the asset if the terms of the agreement are not met. Hypothecation is different from a mortgage, lien, or assignment.

Here is the 'book' definition of hypothecation for 'investments/stocks: the buyer, buying shares on margin, places his existing shares as collateral with the brokerage firm. The brokerage firm can sell these shares if the buyer faces a margin call. A margin call is received when the value of securities bought decreases more than a certain limit or the account value reduces beyond a certain limit. Sounds ok right? there is risk involved in this proces for both parties...the big problem with this (and all other examples of using margin loans and your assets-stocks in this case)-is if those drop in value by a certain % amount against the amount you have been loaned you have to come up with the difference in price (cash) or face your loan being called which means your collateral gets sold to satisfy the margin"call" if you cannot privide the money in 3 days. The biggest risk that the book definition addresses is this: "The lender runs a risk as there may be instances where the borrower sells off the hypothecated asset without the lender’s knowledge" but is does not touch the following scenario:What if all the holders show up at once to claim the asset?This is important in the secondary metals markets-not the actual physical markets where you have it.

Here is what they don't tell you. Thekeypart of this (hypothecation) is the following "the owner of the asset does not give up title, possession, or ownership rights" our example will deal with the housing market bubble that was heading towards implosion (not unlike what is going on right now) and specifically how the Mortgage Industry(all of itfrom origination to funding, servicing and moar importantly how they are held in trusts after they are created.''' Our example is pertinent to the NYFRB Operations that go on every night becasue they use the above mentioned products that have been created and tossed back an forth to each other using hypothecation and not only does the NYFRB sanction this they actively participate in it and it's a commonly accepted practice among the den of thieves and liars. It's all completely legal and a big part of why we are in the position we are in now-held hostage as debt slaves by a system that keeps inventing new ways to continue the control of this system that was created in this way back in 1913-some of it existed prior but not on the same scale..the Federal Reserve Act basically rubber-stamped it all.

What is important to take out of this example is that each and every segment of the financial system has a vehicle that uses the same process-hypothecation-to create cash flow(s) from the products that they do not specifically own yet have a 'claim' upon...it is via THAT process.

Mortgage Electronic Registration Services (MERS)

This is where the FUGGERY starts in a big way (and they STILL do this-it's just under a different name now) this is key in the M.E.R.S. (Mortgage Electronic Registration System) mortgage and title problems-moar on that below-, possession, or ownership rights''' so they retain ownership of the asset but basically lend it out as collateral for a loan, or as a mechanism for Margin lending (if you trade they will give you a loan against the equities you hold in your account-it is costly and they really want you to do this-see Archegos Capital for when this process goes wrong in a big way but keep in mind that was a different arrangement where they had the banks hold the actual levered stocks they bought so they (Archegos) did not have to show them on the books. In a normal process if you take out a margin loan (and Elon Musk's attempted takeover of Twatter is a good example of this) as early there was a question on whether he had the funding and what he did was use equity from Tesla and took out a margin loan against that. He also sold $8.5B of Tesla to use as well as some of his remaining shares as collateral-he secured funding from other sources so his issue with a margin call on that part was removed at that point

Now imagine this on a YUGE scale with the banks, hedge funds , GSE's(Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac/GinneMae-any Gov't/State and Municpal Debt, Mortgages, Commodities (yes even pork bellies and frozen concentrated orange juice, Stocks, Cryptos (yes even those)..essentially if it is debt or financial product-it is all hypothecated-NOTHING IS IMMUNE TO THIS. A key part of this process is what the Mortgage Backed Securities rely on-in some cases you can have a mortgage that exits many times AND in many places yet there is only one owner and this got really tricky in the early 2000s with the last housing bubble so the system developed a way to trade these back forth to each other while circumnavigating the municipal recording process that requires the owner of the mortgage to be recorded if it changed hands at the county (municipal) level. Well (((they))) din't want to do that as it's too time-consuming for them plus spend the $35 it cost them to do it each time. That doesn't sound like a lot but when we get to what they did with it all via the trusts that your mortgage (plus the title) are held in you'll see exactly why they wanted to do this-it was a MASSIVE cost savings to them for what they had planned for it. The other 'neat'.../s trick this allowed them to do what is called bifurcation of the actual mortgage note AND the title to the house. So, in essence splitting up the title from the actual mortgage so that they were never together.

Rehypothecation and the Metals (Silver and Gold) markets

Silver, for example is the biggest rehypothecated asset EVER there are about 500-1000 'claims' the exist on every ounce of investment silver-and this entire problem is mitigated if you own it yourself. We are highlighting what the system has done to control the actual prices of silver here not the physical supply available for purchase and hold it-remember if you don't see it, touch it, smell it, feel it -you own NOTHING-just a promissory note or paper claim (but this can be used in any asset class-as mentioned above it is SYSTEMIC this is known as Rehypothecation. Rehypothecation is when the institution with whom you’re storing your metals (the silver that you supposedly own outright and some adviceNEVER DO THIS: buy any asset and allow a third-party between you and it) lends out that Silver, sometimes to more than one borrower at a time, often in exchange for a smaller or no storage fee. You can't help this with a mortgage and this is also why they created the MERS system becasue there will always be a third-party involved in that-see above

This threat (all the claims showing up at once) played out during the 2008 financial crisis-and will again as nothing was fixed from that it has been allowed to get many multiple times worse-so it's important to note that nothing was ever fixed from the 2008 event-they used the official bailout ($750B) to recapitalize the banks and then continued on as if nothing habbened. The banks who were engaged in precious metals rehypothecation failed: this is Bear Stearns/Lehman Brothers/ MF Global-that is a perfect example of this problem-Merrill Lynch-ALL of them did it , resulting in a nightmare for those with hypothecation claims on those precious metals (gold and silver). Lehman Brothers even tried to use client(s) assets (forbidden by SEC rules-but they never enforce anything) as collateral (hypothecation) to keep them afloat during that entire time-frame. It's worth mentioning that the CEO at the time (Dick Fuld) put all of his assets in his wife's name in later 2007-so he knew what was about to unfold. The movie Margin Call is a hollywood-ized presentation of Lehman Bros.-the CEOs name of the firm-which they never name is Tuld....

Macro gamblers grapple with immovable Bank of Japan

SINGAPORE/NEW YORK (Reuters) – Investors betting that Japan will have to quit its ultra-loose monetary policy are running into riskier and pricier territory as the showdown shifts to the Bank of Japan’s home turf in the bond market.

Japan is now alone among major economies in its stance of enforcing near zero interest rates, and hedge funds and momentum-chasers have made hay as the growing divergence with its rate-hiking peers has pounded the yen.

As the currency hits depths not seen since the late 1990s, wagers on further declines are being pared back, and funds have stepped directly into the path of the BOJ – to short the government bonds that it has promised to support without limit.

The allure is a windfall profit, if the BOJ abandons its yield-curve control (YCC) policy and 10-year Japanese government bond yields shoot from their de-facto cap of 0.25% to Goldman Sachs’ estimate of fair value at around 0.60% or further.

Yet the price could be uncomfortably high while the BOJ remains steadfast. Its vast bond buying has bent a previously quiet market out of shape and sent the cost soaring for those staying in a trade nicknamed the “widowmaker” for its notorious unprofitability.

The BOJ spent more on bonds in June than ever before, its control of the market has had dealers’ borrowing charges for the most popular cash bonds spiking as high as 3% a week and futures have turned diabolically volatile.

“(It) makes things finally interesting,” said Ales Koutny, global bonds portfolio manager at Janus Henderson Investors in London.

“But the problem is there is a lot of leveraged positions, and this level of volatility is going to cause a lot of VaR shocks,” he said, referring to how the value-at-risk, or the size of potential loss on the trade, can skyrocket.

The Bank of Japan has given no hint of a policy shift, with Governor Haruhiko Kuroda even suggesting this week it would take extra monetary easing steps if needed.

Its policy meeting next week is expected to deliver no surprises, with the bank reiterating its pledge to keep policy ultra-loose. Japanese inflation is still relatively low compared with other countries and the tepid economy has still not recovered to pre-pandemic levels.

TOURISTS

Koutny’s fund is sticking to a strategy of using interest rate swaps to bet that Japan’s artificially flat yield curve will eventually steepen, which he says might pay less than shorting bonds but can be maintained with far less volatility.

There are signs, though, that at least some investors have been spooked by wild swings in the bond market recently, or by the vastness of BOJ buying, and have started to drift away.

The 10-year cash yield has dropped slightly below the Bank of Japan’s target in recent days. Turnover in the futures market, which has been popular with short sellers, has also fallen away sharply since the middle of June. [JP/]

“I think a lot of tourists would have gone out of it for the time being,” said Jimmy Lim, CEO and chief investment officer at $950 million macro fund Modular Asset Management, who has pared back a short position in JGBs since June.

“Value wise, you’re not going to have a lot of upside unless you completely abandon YCC,” he said, since if policymakers were only to make some tweaks, the response would be less dramatic.

“While waiting for that to happen you’re losing carry. Potentially if it happens some time next year…then you could lose 40% on carry and that reduces your gain.”

WHO BLINKS FIRST?

The price squeeze on short sellers is only one of several pressure points testing resolve on both sides of the trade.

Investors see inflation, which after years has finally hit the BOJ’s 2% target, and a sliding yen as harbingers of how unsustainable the policy stance is becoming.

But they are also nervous about the fortitude of the BOJ’s defence of a policy experiment it has pioneered.

Last month, the BOJ bought a record 16.1 trillion yen ($116 billion) in JGBs, according to a Deutsche Bank calculation based on BOJ data – more than the monthly pace of the Federal Reserve’s purchasing through most of 2020 and 2021.

That has pushed its ownership of the bond market past 50%, which is draining liquidity, while some purchases have also led to unexpected stresses in the futures market.

“Bond scarcity can worsen, as it has, and certain issues can become very special, with borrowing costs escalating,” said one portfolio manager at a global asset management firm, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

To be sure, the elevated JGB borrowing charges also suggest plenty of short interest remains.

BlueBay Asset Management said via a spokeswoman that it has not recently changed its wager on the BOJ capitulating and holds “a short position with respect to Japanese yields.”

But with price levels where they are, it might be becoming less of an all-in bet.

“From a hedge-fund perspective, they still want to have something in their portfolios that will perform if the Bank of Japan adjusts yield-curve control at some point,” said David Beale, who deals with macro funds at Deutsche Bank in Singapore.

“They will do it when the market least expects it.”

An increasing number of economists think Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda won’t budge in the final lap of his term, in sharp contrast to lingering market speculation that a pivot toward policy tightening may be near to hand. All 47 economists said the central bank will keep its yield curve control and asset purchases unchanged at the end of a two-day meeting on July 21, according to a Bloomberg survey. Only 14% expect a policy tightening before Kuroda ends his decade-long stint in early April, dropping from 22% in the survey last month.

Despite a further slide in the yen this week to fresh 24-year lows and central banks around the world continuing to surprise with outsized rate hikes, economists see the BOJ cementing its outlier status even further. Kuroda has repeatedly said Japan’s slow economic recovery from the pandemic requires continued monetary stimulus, given the risk of a drag on consumer spending from cost-push inflation. The BOJ’s new economic projections are expected to support his view next week, with a downgrade in growth forecasts and upward revisions in the inflation outlook, according to the survey.

Economists see the new quarterly inflation forecast at 2.1% for this fiscal year, up from 1.9% in the previous projection, according to the survey. The growth outlook will fall to 2.4% from 2.9% for the same period, the poll showed. Cryptocurrency billionaire Matthew Mellon "dies"

Matthew Mellon, cryptocurrency investor and heir to one of the most prosperous banking fortunes, has died prior to entering a rehab center in Mexico at age 54, according to multiple sources. His death was later confirmed by his cousin Peter Stephaich, who declined to provide details. Mellon said he would be checking into rehab in 2016 shortly after announcing he and his second wife were going through a divorce. That same year, he admitted spending $100,000 a month on his addiction to OxyContin. Mellon claims to have taken 80 pills a day when he checked himself into the Passages treatment center in Malibu, California. “[Using that much] is the death zone,” Mellon told Page Six at the time.

Mellon, a former chairman of the New York Republican Party’s finance committee, said he got hooked after a surfing injury when doctors prescribed OxyCotin “like they were Smarties.”

Mellon descended from two powerful banking firms. His father founded Mellon Bank, now part of BNY Mellon, while he was related on his mother’s side to Anthony Joseph Drexel, co-founder of Drexel Burnham Lambert, the now-defunct bank famous for pioneering junk bonds. Mellon inherited 13 trust funds starting with a $25 million allowance when he was 21 years old.

The prominent figure made his own fortune in recent years off cryptocurrency, investing in Ripple and its token XPR. Ripple is now the third largest cryptocurrency behind Bitcoin and Etherium, according to CoinMarketCap. The cryptocurrency was cited in a statement released by a representative for the family.

“Matthew Mellon, 54, died suddenly in Cancun, Mexico, where he was attending a drug rehabilitation facility. Mellon made his fortune in cryptocurrency, turning a $2 million investment into $1 billion,” the statement said. “He is survived by his three children, Force, Olympia and Minty. The family asks that their privacy be respected at this very painful time.”

Mellon said his family, who thought he was “insane” because of his drug addiction, had tried to discourage him from investing in cryptocurrency. China Evergrande handed another HKEX condition to lift trading halt on shares

China Evergrande Group said on Friday the Hong Kong state bourse had directed it to have a winding-up petition filed by a creditor dismissed for shares to resume trading.

Shares of the indebted property developer have been on hold since March 21 as the company struggles to repay its suppliers and creditors and complete projects and homes. Top Shine Global Ltd, an investor in Evergrande unit Fangchebao, in June filed a winding-up petition against the developer for not executing a pact to repurchase Fangchebao shares from Top Shine.

China Evergrande is attempting to secure the support of offshore creditors to fight the lawsuit aimed at liquidating it, ahead of the first hearing in a Hong Kong court on Aug. 31.

Apart from having that petition dismissed, Evergrande will also have to conduct an independent probe into 13.4 billion yuan ($1.98 billion) pledged by a unit to banks and release its pending financial results to get the trading halt lifted.

The company also said its unit, Evergrande Real Estate, had not made principal and interest payments on its Shenzhen-listed bonds, as at July 8. The bonds have an issue size of 4.5 billion yuan, with a coupon rate of 6.98 per cent and a term of 3 years. "Evergrande Real Estate will actively negotiate with the bondholders in order to reach a consensual solution," China Evergrande said in a filing to the bourse, and will try to resolve debt risks.

Reeling under more than $300 billion in liabilities, the company's offshore debt is deemed to be in default after it missed payment obligations late last year.

Musk Seeks to Block ‘Warp Speed’ Twitter Trial Over $44 Billion Deal

Elon Musk’s lawyers say Twitter Inc. officials are unfairly pushing for a “warp speed” trial over claims the billionaire improperly canceled his proposed $44 billion buyout of the social media company, and asked for the case to be heard next year instead.

Musk’s legal team on Friday rebuffed Twitter’s argument the case over the teetering transaction can be wrapped up in a four-day trial starting in September in Delaware Chancery Court, saying it will require “forensic review and analysis of large swaths of data” about Musk’s claims that Twitter’s customer base is riddled with spam and robot accounts. Musk is requesting a Feb. 13, 2023, trial at the earliest, “an extremely rapid schedule for a case of this enormous magnitude,” he said in a 14-page filing, according to a representative for Musk. The judge will hold a hearing July 19 on whether to put the case on a fast track. The Twitter buyout agreement specifies that all legal disputes over the deal must be heard in Delaware, corporate home to more than half of US public companies, including Twitter and Musk’s Tesla Inc., and more than 60% of Fortune 500 companies. Unlike some states, where it can take several years to get a case to trial, Delaware Chancery Court moves quicker. The judges, business law experts, are known for parsing legal thickets of complex merger-and-acquisition disputes fast and thorough. Complex business cases are often argued before a judge within six or seven months of being filed. Until now, Musk hadn’t responded in court to Twitter’s allegations that he’s using the bots issue as a pretext to walk away from the $54.20-per-share bid he made for the company in April. Musk even chided Twitter officials for being no fun. “With the sense of humor of a bot, Twitter claims Musk is damaging the company with tweets like a Chuck Norris theme and a poop emoji,” according to the filing. “Twitter ignores that Musk is its second largest shareholder with a far greater economic stake than the entire Twitter board.”

Musk’s response includes a claim that Twitter checks only 100 accounts a day when trying to calculate the number of spam bots on the service, something Musk has referred to in prior Tweets. In those tweets, though, he suggested that Twitter checks 100 accounts in total, not daily. The company says it checks roughly 9,000 accounts a quarter, which would average out to roughly 100 a day. In response to Musk’s requests for specifics on spam and robot accounts, Twitter officials said they made available all the information they had by providing their whole “firehose” of data. Musk counters that the firehose didn’t provide a wealth of bots data, but instead offered “a bespoke partial data set structured to make the necessary machine analysis impossible.” Musk accused Twitter of violating the deal’s “ordinary course” provisions by firing some executives and setting up a hiring freeze. Such obligations require the target of a buyout to operate in the ordinary course of business while waiting for the deal to close.

A Chancery judge recently concluded that violations of this obligation by the owner of a string of luxury hotels allowed a would-be buyer to walk away from the more than $5 billion purchase. The case is Twitter v. Musk, 22-0613, Delaware Chancery Court (Wilmington).
