GOP Rep. Cloud says Justice, FBI putting up 'roadblocks' in efforts to verify voter fraud

"What we've seen is roadblocks when it comes to looking at those items," said Texas GOP Rep. Michael Cloud.

Texas GOP Rep. Michael Cloud on Friday accused the Justice Department of putting up "roadblocks" in President Trump and others' efforts to uncover election fraud.

"There's plenty of evidence there to see, certainly enough evidence to warrant an investigation," Cloud said on Just the News' "Water Cooler" show.

To a question from show host David Brody about why neither the Justice Department nor FBI appears to be looking into such matters, Cloud replied: "Some of these accusations are pretty easy to track down if we had the fortitude to do it. … But instead of an interest in this, what we've seen is roadblocks when it comes to looking at those items."

The exchange follows Attorney General William Barr saying Tuesday that the Justice Department has yet to uncover evidence of voter fraud on a scale sufficient to affect state outcomes in the Nov. 3 presidential election.

Cloud was cautious about speculating on what federal officials might do but said, "Ultimately, the DOJ could be putting forth search warrants. They could be impounding evidence. There's a lot that they could be doing right now. And it's almost like they're waiting for the evidence to come to them."

At Least 14 People Killed, 26 Injured as Bus Falls From Bridge in Brazil, Reports Claim

A tourist bus plunged from a bridge in Brazil's southeastern state of Minas Gerais, killing at least 14 and injuring 26, Brazilian news agency Folha reported on Friday, citing local police and fire departments.

According to the report, the accident took place at around 4:25 p.m. local time (19:25 GMT) in the Joao Monlevade municipality. The bus reportedly fell from a height of about 15 meters (50 feet).

The Civil Police of Minas Gerais said that 11 people died at the accident site and three others at a hospital.

The bus owner has confirmed to the news agency that the vehicle was carrying tourists.

UN: "2021 is literally going to be catastrophic"

Next year is "going to be catastrophic" in terms of worldwide humanitarian crises, World Food Program executive director David Beasley warned on Friday, per Reuters.

Driving the news: The stark outlook comes as many countries contend with not only the coronavirus pandemic, but also possible famine, economic instability, conflict and other humanitarian crises. A record 235 million people will need humanitarian assistance and protection next year, a nearly 40% increase from 2020, the UN projected earlier this week

On Wednesday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged nations to take greater action on climate change to end the "war on nature," saying "the state of the planet is broken."

What he's saying: “2021 is literally going to be catastrophic based on what we’re seeing at this stage of the game,” Beasley told a special meeting covering COVID-19, per Reuters.

The WFP chief also said that famine is "knocking on the door" of dozens of countries.

2021 is likely to be “the worst humanitarian crisis year since the beginning of the United Nations," Beasley added.

"We’re not going to be able to fund everything … so we have to prioritize, as I say, the icebergs in front of the Titanic.”

World Health Organization head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also told the UN General Assembly Friday that people "simply cannot accept a world in which the poor and marginalized are trampled by the rich and powerful in the stampede for vaccine.

“This is a global crisis and the solutions must be shared equitably as global public goods," he said, urging countries to invest in a global vaccine-sharing program.

"Sharing the fruits of science is not charity, it’s in the best interests of every nation."

North Korea held a public execution by firing squad to punish a breach of coronavirus rules, insiders in the country say.

A man accused of smuggling across the sealed-off Chinese border was shot dead on November 28 in order to scare people into following the rules, according to Radio Free Asia.
