ROME — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently published a sharp letter excoriating the Vatican’s plans to renew an agreement with the Chinese government on Church operations in China.

He promoted the article in a tweet, concluding, “The Vatican endangers its moral authority, should it renew the deal.”

An indignant Vatican took the article more as a calculated affront than a diplomatic gesture. The friction broke into the open on Wednesday as Mr. Pompeo arrived in Rome and met with prelates

and others who are hostile to Pope Francis, while the Vatican denied him a meeting with the pontiff and rebuffed his efforts to derail the deal with China.

“Pompeo asked to meet” the pope, who turned him down because Francis had “clearly said that he does not receive political figures ahead of the elections,” Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who,

as secretary of state, is the Vatican’s second-ranking official, told reporters.

But to some observers on both sides of the tensions between the Roman Catholic Church and the Trump administration, Mr. Pompeo’s visit is as much about the coming presidential election as

about China policy. Mr. Pompeo dismissed that suggestion as absurd, but intended or not, his trip signals that President Trump is on the side of those conservative American Catholics who worry

about the church’s direction under Francis and think he is soft on China.

Francis and Mr. Trump, who have exchanged sharp words in the past, present starkly different visions on issues ranging from the environment to immigration to the threat of populism.

In appealing to the Vatican’s support for religious freedom as a reason to drop its China agreement, Mr. Pompeo seemed to seek common ground, but in a way that upset the pope’s chief

allies and delighted his chief critics.

Cardinal Parolin said Mr. Pompeo’s article had caused “surprise” at the Vatican, because this visit to Rome by the secretary and the meetings with high officials at the Holy See had already

been in the works and would have been a “more opportune” forum for airing grievances. He added that Mr. Pompeo’s choice to publish in First Things, a conservative Christian magazine that has

called Francis a failure as Pope, also mattered.

John A. McCone was born in San Francisco, California, on January 4, 1902. His father ran iron foundries across California, a business founded in Nevada in 1860 by McCone's grandfather.

McCone served for more than twenty years as a governmental adviser and official, including head positions at the Atomic Energy Commission in the Eisenhower Administration in 1958–1961 and with

the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the Kennedy Administration and the Lyndon B. Johnson Administration in 1961–1965.

However, it would be his service in 1950–1951, as the 2nd United States Under Secretary of the Air Force that John McCone got his first taste of duty in the senior levels of the U.S. Government

during the Truman Administration."

developed at the Agency for International Development, he was shifted there.[9] Thus Kennedy, urged on by his brother Robert, turned to McCone.[9]

He was a key figure in the Executive Committee of the National Security Council (EXCOMM) during the October 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. In the Honeymoon telegram of September 20, 1962,

he insisted that the CIA remain imaginative when it came to Soviet weapons policy towards Cuba, as a September 19 National Intelligence Estimate had concluded it unlikely that nuclear missiles

would be placed on the island. The telegram was so named because McCone sent it while on his honeymoon in Paris, France, accompanied not only by his bride, Theiline McGee Pigott but by a CIA cipher team.[10]

McCone's suspicions of the inaccuracy of this assessment proved to be correct, as it was later found out the Soviet Union had followed up its conventional military buildup with the installation of

MRBMs (Medium Range Ballistic Missiles) and IRBMs (Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles), sparking off the crisis in October when they were later spotted by CIA's Lockheed U-2 surveillance flights.

While McCone was DCI, the CIA was involved in many covert plots; according to Admiral Stansfield Turner (who himself later served as DCI from 1977 to 1981, under President Jimmy Carter), these included:[11]

In the Dominican Republic, the CIA had armed an assassination plot to take out President Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina. After the Bay of Pigs, Kennedy wanted the project stopped because

it was too soon for another debacle. The problem is that once you encourage and arm a group of highly motivated locals, you can't just turn them off. Trujillo's enemies gunned him down dramatically,

though technically speaking without U.S. help.

In Laos, the CIA backed the Hmong (then known by the derogatory name Meo) people of the highlands to fight a counterinsurgency. This set off a complicated three-way civil war that hit the Hmong hard.

In Ecuador, the CIA helped overthrow President José Velasco Ibarra. His replacement didn't last long before the CIA turned on him, looking for greater stability and allegiance.

In British Guiana, the CIA stirred up trouble through the labor unions to take down the democratically elected Cheddi Jagan.

In Cuba, there was Mongoose, a secret campaign against Castro."

"John Alex McCone was born in Los Angeles on 4th January, 1902. A child of Scotch-Irish parents, he was raised a devout Roman Catholic.

McCord studied engineering at Berkeley, where he met Stephen D. Bechtel, his future business partner. Following graduation, McCone found work at the Llewellyn Iron Works.

He started off as a riveter but by the age of 26 he had become construction manager.

In 1931 McCone was appointed sales manager for Consolidated Steel. The company was in financial difficulty but McCone came to the rescue when he sold 55 million tons of steel to a

group of Californian businessmen building the Boulder Dam (later renamed the Hoover Dam). This group of businessmen included Henry J. Kaiser and Stephen D. Bechtel.

In 1937, McCone left Consolidated Steel to join Bechtel and Kaiser. Initially they established the Bechtel-McCone Corporation. Over the next few years the three men formed several

companies with them taking it in turn to become the front man. In some cases, they remained silent partners in these business ventures.

The first major customer of Bechtel-McCone was Standard Oil of California (Socal). The company obtained a contract to build Socal’s new refinery in Richmond. It was the first of many

refineries built by Bechtel-McCone. By 1939 the company had more than 10,000 employees and was building refineries, chemical plants and pipelines all over the world.

In the summer of 1940 McCone and Stephen D. Bechtel had a meeting with Admiral Howard L. Vickery of the U.S. Maritime Commission. Vickery told the men he “had received a telegram from

the British Purchasing Commission (BPC) urgently requesting that the Maritime Commission arrange the building of 60 tankers to replace the ships the British had lost to German torpedoes”.

At another meeting a few weeks later, Maritime Commission chairman, Admiral Emory S. Land, told Bechtel and McCone that: “Besides building ships for the British,

they would have to build them for the Americans as well. Not merely tankers, but Liberty and Victory cargo ships, troop transports, the whole makings of a merchant navy.”

Admiral Land confidently added that thousands of vessels would be needed as “America was headed into war.”

As a result of these two meetings, Bechtel, McCone and Kaiser built shipyards at Richmond and Sausalito. Several of their companies were involved in this project that became known as

“Operation Calship”. This included Kaiser Company (78 ships), Kaiser-Swan Island (140 ships) and Kaiser-Vancouver (118 ships).

It was a terrible gamble because at that time they were relying on the predictions of Admiral Emory S. Land. However, Land was right and only a month after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor,

the Maritime Commission awarded Calship its first shipbuilding contract. Within a year, Calship was employing over 42,000 workers at its shipyards.

In 1942 McCone and Stephen D. Bechtel obtained a contract to build aircraft at Willow Run in Alabama. The War Department agreed to pay all the company’s costs plus 5 percent on work estimates

presented by Bechtel-McCone every six months. A 300-acre factory was built and 8,000 employees hired to staff it. However, no aircraft were built. Employees were paid for doing nothing.

A local man, George P. Alexander, discovered details of this scam and collected affidavits from workers who admitted that they “went in every day at 9.00, punched the time clock, then went home”.

They then returned to the factory at 5.00 to “punch out”.

Alexander filed suit against Bechtel-McCone in federal district court on 31st July, 1943. He claimed that the company had made “many and various claims against the government of the United States,

or a department or officer thereof, knowing such claims to be false, fictitious or fraudulent.” However, the judge dismissed the case. The problem was with the contract, not the claims by Bechtel-McCone.

As John McCone admitted to Fortune Magazine on 17th May, 1943: “Every six months, we estimate how much work we expect to do in the next six months and then we get a fee of five percent of the estimated

amount of work regardless of how much work we actually do turn out.”

Adam Weishaupt (1748–1830) became professor of Canon Law and practical philosophy at the University of Ingolstadt in 1773.

He was the only non-clerical professor at an institution run by Jesuits,whose order Pope Clement XIV had dissolved in 1773.

The Jesuits of Ingolstadt, however, still retained the purse strings and some power at the University, which they continued to regard as their own.

Christians of good character were actively sought, with

Jews and pagans specifically excluded,along with women, monks, and members of other secret societies.

Favoured candidates were rich, docile, willing to learn, and aged 18–30.[13][14]

Transition

Having, with difficulty, dissuaded some of his members from joining the Freemasons, Weishaupt decided to join the older order to acquire material to expand his own ritual.

He was admitted to lodge "Prudence" of the Rite of Strict Observance early in February 1777.

His progress through the three degrees of "blue lodge" masonry taught him nothing of the higher degrees he sought to exploit,

but in the following year a priest called Abbé Marotti informed Zwack that these inner secrets rested on knowledge of the older religion and the primitive church.

Zwack persuaded Weishaupt that their own order should enter into friendly relations with Freemasonry, and obtain the dispensation to set up their own lodge.

At this stage (December 1778), the addition of the first three degrees of Freemasonry was seen as a secondary project.[15]

With little difficulty, a warrant was obtained from the Grand Lodge of Prussia called the Royal York for Friendship, and the new lodge was called Theodore of the Good Council,

with the intention of flattering Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria. It was founded in Munich on 21 March 1779, and quickly packed with Illuminati.

The first master, a man called Radl, was persuaded to return home to Baden, and by July Weishaupt's order ran the lodge.[15]

The next step involved independence from their Grand Lodge. By establishing masonic relations with the Union lodge in Frankfurt, affiliated to the Premier Grand Lodge of England,

lodge Theodore became independently recognised, and able to declare its independence. As a new mother lodge, it could now spawn lodges of its own.

The recruiting drive amongst the Frankfurt masons also obtained the allegiance of Adolph Freiherr Knigge.[15]

Provided with material by Weishaupt, Knigge now produced pamphlets outlining the activities of the outlawed Jesuits, purporting to show how they continued to thrive and recruit,

especially in Bavaria.

Meanwhile, Knigge's inability to give his recruits any satisfactory response to questions regarding the higher grades was making his position untenable, and he wrote to Weishaupt

to this effect.

In January 1781, faced with the prospect of losing Knigge and his masonic recruits, Weishaupt finally confessed that his superiors and the supposed antiquity of the order were fictions, and the

higher degrees had yet to be written.[16] “

The manuscript was among the scrolls found in Qumran Cave 1, acquired by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and first published posthumously by Eleazar Sukenik in 1955.[1]

The document is made up of various scrolls and fragments including 1QM, and 4Q491–497.[1] It is possible that The War of the Messiah is the conclusion to this document.[2]

The 4Q491–497 fragments were published by Maurice Baillet in Discoveries in the Judaean Desert, 7 and comprise a shorter recension of the War Scroll.[1]

Two time periods have been put forward and defended as the most probable time of composition: the Seleucid period and the Roman period.[3]

The Seleucid period proposals include the very beginning of the Maccabean Revolt (165 or 164 BCE), the height of Jonathan's military power (143 BCE),

and the reign of John Hyrcanus (135–104 BCE).[4]

Scholars who believe the scroll was composed during the Roman period propose a date from the middle of the 1st century BCE to the first decade of the 1st century CE.[4]

The War Scroll's description of the weaponry and tactics led Yigael Yadin to assign the composition of the scroll to a date between the capture of Jerusalem by Pompey (65 BCE)

and the death of Herod (4 BCE).[1]

More recently, author Russell Gmirkin in "The War Scroll and Roman Weaponry Reconsidered" disagrees with Yadin's analysis and assigns the weaponry described in the War Scroll

to the 2nd century BCE.[5] Lt. Col. Peter Fromm (US Army Ret.) sides with Gmirkin also assigning the army and weaponry described in the War Scroll to the 2nd century BCE.[6]

Scholars have been unable to determine the exact author of the text. The unity and cohesiveness of the manuscript leads some, such as Jean Carmignac and Yigael Yadin,

to believe that it was written or compiled by a single writer.[1] Most scholars believe, at this point, that it is a composite document, copied from many source documents by one scribe.[7]

In modern times, the genre of 1QM has been described as apocalyptic literature, though some translators and interpreters contend that it is actually a part of sectarian liturgy or tactical treatises.

Jean Duhaime believes that it was probably classified as a part of the serek (rule) texts developed by the Qumranites.[8]

THE WAR SCROLL

The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness

These scrolls contain an apocalyptic prophecy of a war between the Sons of Light and the Sons of Darkness.

The war is described in two distinct parts, first (the War against the Kittim) described as a battle between the Sons of Light, consisting of the sons of Levi, the sons of Judah,

and the sons of Benjamin, and the exiled of the desert, against Edom, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Amalekites, and Philistia and their allies the Kittim of Asshur

(referred to collectively as the army of Belial), and [those who assist them from among the wicked] who "violate the covenant". The second part of the war (the War of Divisions)

is described as the Sons of Light, now the united twelve tribes of Israel, conquering the "nations of vanity." [9]

In the end, all of Darkness is to be destroyed and Light will live in peace for all eternity.[7] The text goes on to detail inscriptions for trumpets and banners for the war

and liturgies for the priests during the conflict.

There are many key differences in the way the War against the Kittim and the War of Divisions are described.

The War against the Kittim is referred to as a day of battle with seven stages, with the Sons of Light and the Sons of Darkness each winning three of the first six

before final victory for the Sons of Light by divine intervention in the seventh.

While it is unclear if this is meant as a literal 24-hour period, it does not seem to describe a protracted battle.

After the War against the Kittim there is a six-year period of preparation culminating in the restoration of the Temple in Jerusalem.

The beginning of the description of the War of Divisions says that there are 33 years of war remaining of the total 40 years of the war.

In the War against the Kittim each side will fight alongside angelic hosts and supernatural beings and final victory is achieved for the Sons of Light directly by the hand of God.

In the War of Divisions, on the other hand, there is no mention of angels or supernatural allies fighting alongside either the tribes of Israel or the Nations.

Another distinction is that in the War against the Kittim the Sons of Light face defeat three times before victory, but in the War of Divisions there is not mention of defeat or setbacks of any kind.[7]

On 13 August 2011, Bertone informed Viganò that Pope Benedict was appointing him Nuncio to the United States.[12] Reuters reported that Viganò was unwilling to take that assignment. Vatican broadens seminary abuse trial amid negligence claims

VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican criminal tribunal agreed Tuesday to broaden a sex abuse trial involving the Holy See’s youth seminary beyond two priests already charged to include the religious organization responsible for running the residence.

The lawyer for the alleged victim argued in court that there was evidence of “gross negligence” and “lack of vigilance” in running the St. Pius X seminary that resulted in his client being abused when he was a young altar boy.

The seminary, located in a palazzo inside the Vatican gardens, houses boys aged 12-18 who serve as altar boys at papal Masses in St. Peter’s Basilica. One of the former altar boys says he was repeatedly molested by an older seminarian while living there.

Attorney Dario Imparato asked the court to also charge the seminary itself and the Opera Don Folchi association of priests that runs it, as well as the diocese of Como, which is responsible for both.

After consulting behind closed doors with other judges, Tribunal President Giuseppe Pignatone said the court agreed to prosecute the seminary and Opera Don Folchi, though it rejected the request to bring the Como diocese into the case.

The development substantially broadens the first-ever criminal trial in the Vatican concerning allegations of sexual abuse that occurred on Vatican soil. According to the original indictment, the Rev. Gabriele Martinelli, 28, is accused of abusing his authority as a more senior seminarian to force a younger seminarian into “carnal acts” of sodomy and masturbation, using violence and threats, from 2007-2012.

The former seminary rector, the Rev. Enrico Radice, is charged with having helped Martinelli avoid investigators by discrediting the victim’s allegations as baseless.

The scandal is particularly grave because the abuse allegedly occurred within Vatican City itself, and the allegations were known since at least 2012 but were covered up by the Vatican and other church authorities until the victim and his roommate, Kamil Jarzembowski, went public in 2017.

After that, Pope Francis waived the statute of limitations in the case and signed off on a new policy for Vatican City requiring such crimes to be reported to Vatican prosecutors.

Neither Martinelli nor Radice have responded publicly to the allegations. They were in court on Tuesday and were supposed to have been questioned, but the hearing was taken up with the question of whether to broaden the trial.

The Opera Don Folchi has lashed out at the allegations against Martinelli and its seminary as “mud,” a “violent attack on the church” and nothing more than “calumny and falsifications.”

The next hearing was set for Nov. 19.

Commentary:

We do not expect our Law Enforcement to be perfect yet we do expect them to be less criminal and more observant of the Law, the Law that they volunteered to serve, more than the average citizen.

Likewise we do not expect our Clergy to be perfect, although that would be wonderful, yet we do expect them to be less criminal and more observant of Gods Law, which they volunteered to serve, than the average citizen.

Upon occasion, I have heard Apologist use the argument "Clergy molests with no greater frequency than School Teachers and other professions" as a defense of Clergy and it's issue with sexual abuse.

What does this tell us? That Religion does not work as a deterrent of deviant sexual behavior? It certainly seems to be the case.

Clergy should be better than the average just like we expect Law Enforcement Officers to follow the Law on a higher level than the average citizen.

Teachers and others who choose professions which deal with children should also be held to a higher standard.

Instead of giving Law Enforcement, Teachers, Clergy and many other professions a lesser sentence, if they receive any punishment for misdeeds at all, which has been the norm for centuries, they should be more harshly punished and maybe that would serve as a proper deterrent.

The same should apply to Government Officials and other who Swear an Oath to protect and do their best for their respective Nations.

Instead the norm has been to do nothing or very little yet the common citizen with no Oath or higher Allegiance is punished more for the same or even lesser criminality.

China Continues Religious Repression While Inking New Deal with Vatican

ROME — The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has thumbed its nose at the Vatican, continuing its flagrant abuses of religious freedom even while negotiating its new deal with the Vatican, Catholic News Agency (CNA) reported Monday.

Last week, the Vatican announced it had extended its controversial 2018 agreement with the CCP regarding the naming of Catholic bishops in the country, stating in a communiqué that “the two Parties have agreed to extend the experimental implementation phase of the Provisional Agreement for another two years.”

The Vatican said that the deal is of “great ecclesial and pastoral value” and that its initial application had been “positive.”

Critics of the agreement have noted that persecution of religious believers in China has intensified since the original signing of the accord in 2018 and many members of the underground Catholic Church in China have said they feel “abandoned” by the Vatican.

In recent weeks, the Communist government has “ramped up enforcement of the prohibition on the sale and distribution of religious texts,” reported CNA, with the justification that religious texts are considered as “contraband” in China.

Mister President,

Allow me to address you at this hour in which the fate of the whole world is being threatened by a global conspiracy against God and humanity. I write to you as an Archbishop, as a Successor of the Apostles, as the former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States of America. I am writing to you in the midst of the silence of both civil and religious authorities. May you accept these words of mine as the “voice of one crying out in the desert” (Jn 1:23).

As I said when I wrote my letter to you in June, this historical moment sees the forces of Evil aligned in a battle without quarter against the forces of Good; forces of Evil that appear powerful and organized as they oppose the children of Light, who are disoriented and disorganized, abandoned by their temporal and spiritual leaders.

Daily we sense the attacks multiplying of those who want to destroy the very basis of society: the natural family, respect for human life, love of country, freedom of education and business. We see heads of nations and religious leaders pandering to this suicide of Western culture and its Christian soul, while the fundamental rights of citizens and believers are denied in the name of a health emergency that is revealing itself more and more fully as instrumental to the establishment of an inhuman faceless tyranny.

A global plan called the Great Reset is underway. Its architect is a global élite that wants to subdue all of humanity, imposing coercive measures with which to drastically limit individual freedoms and those of entire populations. In several nations this plan has already been approved and financed; in others it is still in an early stage. Behind the world leaders who are the accomplices and executors of this infernal project, there are unscrupulous characters who finance the World Economic Forum and Event 201, promoting their agenda.

But this world, Mr. President, includes people, affections, institutions, faith, culture, traditions, and ideals: people and values that do not act like automatons, who do not obey like machines, because they are endowed with a soul and a heart, because they are tied together by a spiritual bond that draws its strength from above, from that God that our adversaries want to challenge, just as Lucifer did at the beginning of time with his “non serviam.”

Many people – as we well know – are annoyed by this reference to the clash between Good and Evil and the use of “apocalyptic” overtones, which according to them exasperates spirits and sharpens divisions. It is not surprising that the enemy is angered at being discovered just when he believes he has reached the citadel he seeks to conquer undisturbed. What is surprising, however, is that there is no one to sound the alarm. The reaction of the deep state to those who denounce its plan is broken and incoherent, but understandable. Just when the complicity of the mainstream media had succeeded in making the transition to the New World Order almost painless and unnoticed, all sorts of deceptions, scandals and crimes are coming to light.

Until a few months ago, it was easy to smear as “conspiracy theorists” those who denounced these terrible plans, which we now see being carried out down to the smallest detail. No one, up until last February, would ever have thought that, in all of our cities, citizens would be arrested simply for wanting to walk down the street, to breathe, to want to keep their business open, to

In Sacred Scripture, Saint Paul speaks to us of “the one who opposes” the manifestation of the mystery of iniquity, the kathèkon (2 Thess 2:6-7). In the religious sphere, this obstacle to evil is the Church, and in particular the papacy; in the political sphere, it is those who impede the establishment of the New World Order.

As is now clear, the one who occupies the Chair of Peter has betrayed his role from the very beginning in order to defend and promote the globalist ideology, supporting the agenda of the deep church, who chose him from its ranks.

Mr. President, you have clearly stated that you want to defend the nation – One Nation under God, fundamental liberties, and non-negotiable values that are denied and fought against today. It is you, dear President, who are “the one who opposes” the deep state, the final assault of the children of darkness.

For this reason, it is necessary that all people of good will be persuaded of the epochal importance of the imminent election: not so much for the sake of this or that political program, but because of the general inspiration of your action that best embodies – in this particular historical context – that world, our world, which they want to cancel by means of the lockdown. Your adversary is also our adversary: it is the Enemy of the human race, He who is “a murderer from the beginning” (Jn 8:44).

Around you are gathered with faith and courage those who consider you the final garrison against the world dictatorship. The alternative is to vote for a person who is manipulated by the deep state, gravely compromised by scandals and corruption, who will do to the United States what Jorge Mario Bergoglio is doing to the Church, Prime Minister Conte to Italy, President Macron to France, Prime Minster Sanchez to Spain, and so on. The blackmailable nature of Joe Biden – just like that of the prelates of the Vatican’s “magic circle” – will expose him to be used unscrupulously, allowing illegitimate powers to interfere in both domestic politics as well as international balances. It is obvious that those who manipulate him already have someone worse than him ready, with whom they will replace him as soon as the opportunity arises.

Mr. President, you are well aware that, in this crucial hour, the United States of America is considered the defending wall against which the war declared by the advocates of globalism has been unleashed. Place your trust in the Lord, strengthened by the words of the Apostle Paul: “I can do all things in Him who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13). To be an instrument of Divine Providence is a great responsibility, for which you will certainly receive all the graces of state that you need, since they are being fervently implored for you by the many people who support you with their prayers.

Pope Francis is preparing to ramp up his fight against corruption in the Vatican, he said in an interview on Friday, weeks after the shock ousting of a cardinal over embezzlement accusations.

"I have had to change many things, and many more will soon change," the Argentine pontiff told Italy's Adnkronos news agency when asked about his anti-corruption strategy.

Pope Francis, elected in 2013 on a mandate of cleaning up after a series of scandals in the centuries-old institution, has reformed laws and fired top financial officials to bring the Vatican into line with international standards on transparency and money laundering.

Irish Catholics in uproar after warning that priests could go to prison for celebrating Mass

In the wake of new laws which Catholics in Ireland are comparing to penal times and the persecution of the Catholic Church, an ever growing number of priests and lay people are demanding the return of Mass and the sacraments.

On 6th October Ireland moved into a “Level 3 lockdown” meaning that all religious services must “move online.” However since then, the country has been ordered into the highest level of restrictions, and a new law introduced, expressly forbidding gatherings for “religious or other reasons” and threatening priests with heavy fines and even jail, should they attempt to offer public Mass.

The law is in direct violation of Article 44 of the Irish Constitution, which states: “The State acknowledges that the homage of public worship is due to Almighty God. It shall hold His Name in reverence, and shall respect and honour religion. Freedom of conscience and the free profession and practice of religion are, subject to public order and morality, guaranteed to every citizen.”

Fr. Sean Mulligan of the Clogher Diocese protested the law in a powerful sermon, (which has subsequently been viewed more than 1,700 times on YouTube), in which he decried the new law as “a new type of tyranny and persecution” and stated that “it’s our own government who are orchestrating this attack on our faith and our right to practice it in public.”

The four Archbishops of Ireland had a meeting with the Taoiseach last week, in which they “emphasised that they are fully supportive of the Public Health messages but highlighted that the coming together in prayer and worship, especially for Mass and the Sacraments, is fundamental to Christian tradition and a source of nourishment for the life and well-being of whole communities.”

The Taoiseach is reported to have thanked them, but no concessions have been made regarding the opening of churches.

Both parties agreed the “need for a shared understanding of the effects of the pandemic as it evolves and to align our response accordingly.”

In an open letter published in May, Catholic clergy led by former papal nuncio Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò and Cardinals Gerhard Ludwig Mueller, Joseph Zen, and Janis Pujats reminded politicians around the world that “the state has no right to interfere, for any reason whatsoever, in the sovereignty of the church.”

“This autonomy and freedom are an innate right that Our Lord Jesus Christ has given her for the pursuit of her proper ends. For this reason, as pastors we firmly assert the right to decide autonomously on the celebration of Mass and the Sacraments, just as we claim absolute autonomy in matters falling within our immediate jurisdiction, such as liturgical norms and ways of administering Communion and the Sacraments,” the signatories stated.

Pope appoints new special delegate to Order of Malta

VATICAN CITY — After the surprise resignation of Cardinal Angelo Becciu in October, Pope Francis named Cardinal-designate Silvano Tomasi as his special delegate to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

In a letter dated Nov. 1, the pope said the cardinal-designate "will possess all the necessary powers to decide the eventual questions that should arise for the implementation of the mandate entrusted to you," and said Tomasi would "receive the oath of the next grand master."

The order is set to elect a new grand master Nov. 8 to succeed Fra' Giacomo Dalla Torre, who died in April.

The special delegate, the pope said, also will work closely with Fra' Ruy Goncalo do Valle, the chivalric order's temporary head, and the next elected grand master to carry out the renewal of the order's constitution.

Francis also said Tomasi will serve as "my exclusive spokesperson in all matters relating to relations between the Apostolic See and the order."

The position of special delegate to the order was created in 2017 following a dramatic series of events that began in November 2016 with the removal and eventual reinstatement of Albrecht Freiherr von Boeselager, the order's grand chancellor.

Weeks of public tension between the order and the Vatican ended when Francis requested that Fra' Matthew Festing resign his post as grand master in January 2017.

Becciu, who the pope had named as the order's special delegate in 2017, was asked to retire Sept. 24 by Francis amid a financial scandal.

Despite having most of his responsibilities transferred to Tomasi, U.S. Cardinal Raymond L. Burke remains the cardinal patron of the order.

Although Burke is often viewed as one of Francis' most vocal critics, in an interview, the pope said he did not regard the American cardinal as an "adversary" and that the decision to appoint "a delegate with a different charism than Burke" was a question of "clearing things up a bit in the order."

"The problem with the Order of Malta was more than he [Burke] was unable to deal with it," the pope said in the 2017 interview with Germany's Die Zeit newspaper. "I have not removed his title of patron. He is still the patron of the Order of Malta."

It's been a tough year for America's Catholic bishops. Years ago they "put the scandals behind us," but they're still hounded by investigations, bankruptcies, lawsuits, corruption and debt. They've closed countless schools and parishes. Worst of all, they've virtually closed down the Church for months.

Blaming the China virus, they capitulated to Caesar without a fight.

They deprived the faithful of the Mass — in the midst of a crisis! — just when we needed it most. Now they dither in their chanceries, wondering how many of the faithful will come back at all.

Meanwhile, they wait in fear and trembling, dreading the release of the McCarrick Report.

They admit it. Their credibility is shredded.

And, in the words of Abp. Carlo Maria Viganò, the faithful are "bewildered, scandalized and abandoned."

Carrying Democrats' Water

While our shepherds have abandoned their teaching authority on the tough moral questions, they spend their time conferring their imprimatur on the political agenda of the Democrat Party.

For example:

They oppose "systemic racism" — but Joe Biden can do that

They support unlimited illegal immigration — but California senator Kamala Harris can do that

They support sanctuary for illegal criminals — but California governor Gavin Newsom can do that

Thus, just as on Golgotha, the Sanhedrin thought that it had defeated Our Lord by having him condemned to death by Pontius Pilate, today the Vatican Sanhedrin believes that it can overthrow the Church by delivering it into the hands of the globalist anti-Christian tyranny.

We must therefore evaluate what is happening today with a supernatural gaze, in light of the battle that the world’s élite are conducting against Christian civilization. The attack that was initially launched from the outside against the Catholic monolith has evolved, from the Second Vatican Council onwards, into an action of widespread infiltration by means of the deep State in civil society and the deep Church in the religious sphere. The enemy has succeeded in penetrating the interior of both the State and the Church, in order to rise to the very top, building a network of complicity and connivance that binds all of its members by means of blackmail, having chosen them precisely because of their corruptibility. Vatican City, Nov 5, 2020 / 07:00 am MT (CNA).- Pope Francis has requested that responsibility for financial funds and real estate assets, including a controversial London property, be transferred out of the Vatican’s Secretariat of State.

The pope asked for the management and administration of the funds and investments to be given instead to APSA, which functions as the Holy See treasury and sovereign wealth manager, and also administers payroll and operating expenses for Vatican City.

Pope Francis’ decision, outlined in an Aug. 25 letter to Cardinal Pietro Parolin, was made as the Secretariat of State continues to be at the center of unfolding Vatican financial scandals.

In the letter, made public by the Vatican Nov. 5, the pope asked for “particular attention” to be paid to two specific financial matters: “investments made in London” and the Centurion Global investment fund.

Pope Francis requested that the Vatican “exit as soon as possible” from the investments, or “at least dispose of them in such a way as to eliminate all reputational risks.”

The Centurion Global Fund is managed by Enrico Crasso, a longtime investment manager for the Vatican. He told the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera Oct. 4 that Pope Francis had asked for the fund’s liquidation last year after media reported its use of Vatican assets under its management to invest in Hollywood films, real estate, and utilities.

The fund also registered a loss of some 4.6% in 2018, while at the same time incurring management fees of roughly two million euros, raising questions about the prudential use of Vatican resources.

“And now we are closing it,” Crasso said Oct. 4.

The Secretariat of State has also come under fire over a London property deal. The building at 60 Sloane Avenue was purchased over a period of years from the Vatican’s investment manager Raffaele Mincione for a reported 350 million pounds. Financier Gianluigi Torzi brokered the final stage of the sale. The Vatican lost money in the purchase and CNA has reported on the potential conflicts of interest in the deal.

The building is now controlled by the secretariat through a U.K.-registered company, London 60 SA Ltd.

Vatican set for November release of long-awaited McCarrick report. Will it be honest?

November 5, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Reuters reports today that, according to its own sources within the Vatican, the long-awaited McCarrick report on the history of Theodore McCarrick's misbehavior and the high-ranking cover-up or tolerance of it will be published before the Fall Meeting of the USCCB, November 15-19. LifeSite was told the same by several sources.

According to Reuters, this report is to be published ahead of the USCCB meeting and is the result of Pope Francis' order of “a thorough study of all documents in Holy See offices concerning McCarrick in 2018.” Catholic theologian and book author Dr. Taylor Marshall is also listing November 11 as the publication date for the report.

The four U.S. dioceses where he served - New York, Metuchen, Newark, and Washington, D.C. - had made their own investigations to contribute to the Vatican report, the report adds.

“There is great anticipation for the report,” Reuters continues, “because it may show how McCarrick managed to rise through the ranks even though his history of sexual misconduct with adult male seminarians was an open secret.”

According to LifeSite's own sources, the report is between 600 and 700 pages long with numerous footnotes. Some sources say the report could be published as early as November 10 or 11. One source pointed out that the report contains much meaningless material, that is to say, it is inflated. However, other sources told LifeSite that it could very well lead to a deep crisis in the Vatican since it might well mention many curial members who were involved in the cover-up or toleration of McCarrick's corruption and sexual misconduct over the course of many decades.

This latter point is seen by some observers in the context of Pope Francis' own curial reform. In a sense, when several key curial members are being weakened or humiliated for their misconduct with regard to McCarrick, less members of the Curia might resist when Pope Francis is about to implement a revolutionary curial reform with for example the weakening of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF). Until today, the CDF has repeatedly shown the willingness still to defend Catholic doctrine, for example when recently rebuking German bishops for promoting intercommunion. This might well change after Pope Francis' curial reform.

So, while we all await the truth about the history of the McCarrick cover-up, we might also be aware that this upcoming report might be also used for other purposes.

Whether the upcoming report will reveal the full truth remains to be seen. Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò reported in August of 2018 that he personally informed Pope Francis about the sanctions placed on McCarrick by Pope Benedict XVI, something that took place in person, and not in a written form. However, Pope Francis and his ignoring of this warning might very well not be mentioned at all in this report.

Pope Francis had repeatedly called upon McCarrick to help him with international missions, such as with China and Cuba, thereby ignoring the sanctions placed on McCarrick.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, in his now-famous McCarrick testimony, had named multiple high-ranking Vatican prelates as being complicit in the cover-up of McCarrick's misdeeds, among them Cardinals Tarcisio Bertone, Angelo Sodano, and Pietro Parolin.

Theodore McCarrick was laicized in June of 2018, after there came reports of his having sexually abused minors. He now lives in an undisclosed location.

In a recently published interview book written by Dr. Robert Moynihan, Finding Viganò, Archbishop Viganò reports how he had confronted McCarrick with his misdeeds when he became the papal nuncio in Washington, D.C. McCarrick then admitted to him his fault.

As Archbishop Viganò told LifeSite, McCarrick “recognized that he did something wrong, but he was absolutely diminishing the gravity of his acts and did not feel or show any sense of repentance. It was somehow as if he thought his behavior was something normal.”

Viganó, when speaking to Dr. Robert Moynihan about this matter, was deeply moved and felt compassion toward McCarrick.

I'm in the early stages of learning about all of this, but I'm old and have a lifetime of lived experiences. I think you need to be very clear on what your definition of the "Catholic Church" is. As I see it today,

The Vatican is poised to release a long-awaited report on what it knew about ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick’s sexual misconduct during his rise through the church hierarchy.

McCarrick, who was one of the highest-ranking, most visible Roman Catholic officials in the United States, was defrocked by Pope Francis in 2019 after a Vatican investigation determined he sexually abused minors as well as adults.

A number of accusers have come forward in the past two years, and the 90-year-old McCarrick and the various archdioceses where he was stationed are facing lawsuits.

McCarrick denied an initial allegation that led to his removal from public ministry in 2018 — an accusation that he had groped an altar boy in the 1970s. He has not commented on the lawsuits against him, nor did he when he was defrocked last year.

June 2018: On the same day the Archdiocese of New York announced a credible and substantiated claim of abuse of a minor by McCarrick, the Archdiocese of Newark, New Jersey, where McCarrick was a bishop and archbishop, said it was aware of three decades-old allegations against him involving sexual misconduct with adults.

The Newark Archdiocese disclosed that two of those claims had resulted in legal settlements but declined to provide additional details, citing confidentiality concerns. It was subsequently reported that the settlements were made in 2005 and 2007.

August 2019: One of McCarrick's accusers, James Grein, filed a lawsuit in New York alleging

he told then-Pope John Paul II in 1988 about being sexually abused as a child by McCarrick but the Vatican did nothing.

The lawsuit named the Archdiocese of New York but not McCarrick directly.

The Associated Press does not typically name victims of sexual abuse. AP initially identified Grein only by his first name, but he later agreed to be fully identified and shared postcards and letters McCarrick wrote him.

Grein has said McCarrick was a close family friend and alleges McCarrick abused him over the span of about two decades. He told Vatican investigators that McCarrick began abusing him at age 11, sometimes during confession.

Grein's was one of hundreds of sex abuse lawsuits filed against a wide array of institutions and individuals as New York state began accepting cases once blocked by the statute of limitations.

A spokesman for the Archdiocese of New York said at the time that it would carefully review the claims.

The timeline includes information on his episcopal appointments to dioceses and archdioceses and covers allegations of abuse lodged against him.

1958 June 15 — Father McCarrick ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of New York by Cardinal Francis Spellman.

1958 — Father McCarrick performs his first baptism in Tenafly, New Jersey. The child, James, later would allege he was abused by Father McCarrick.

1969 — Msgr. McCarrick named assistant secretary of education for the Archdiocese of New York.

1969 — Msgr. McCarrick allegedly exposes himself to James, then an 11-year-old boy, in Northern New Jersey. As reported by The New York Times July 19, 2018, James alleged that an abusive relationship continued for nearly 20 years.

1971 — Msgr. McCarrick becomes personal secretary to Cardinal Terence Cooke of New York.

1971 — Msgr. McCarrick allegedly abuses a 16-year-old altar boy in the Archdiocese of New York prior to Christmas Mass. A year later he allegedly abuses the same altar boy, again before Christmas Mass. Both incidents were reported to the archdiocese sometime between March 1, 2017, and April 15, 2018.

1977 June 29 — Msgr. McCarrick ordained as an auxiliary bishop of New York by Cardinal Cooke.

1981 Jan. 31 — Bishop McCarrick installed as first bishop of newly created Diocese of Metuchen, New Jersey.

1984 — Bishop McCarrick authorizes Diocese of Metuchen to purchase beach house in Sea Girt, New Jersey, according to The New York Times. He is alleged to have abused seminarians at the house.

1986 July 25 — Archbishop McCarrick installed as archbishop of Newark, New Jersey.

1987 — Archbishop McCarrick allegedly abuses unnamed seminarian for the Diocese of Metuchen in New York City. The former priest received a settlement from the Archdiocese of Newark and Diocese of Metuchen in 2007, as reported by The New York Times July 16, 2018.

1994 — The unnamed Metuchen priest writes a letter to Archbishop McCarrick’s successor in Metuchen, Bishop Edward T. Hughes, stating that abuse he allegedly endured from Archbishop McCarrick and other priests triggered him to touch two 15-year-old boys inappropriately. In the letter he also claimed he saw Archbishop McCarrick having sex with a young priest and that the archbishop invited him to be next. The letter was in a file the priest provided to the Times on the condition his name not be used.

1995 October — Archbishop McCarrick hosts Pope John Paul II in Newark during his Oct. 4-9 visit to the United States.

2000 Nov. 21 — Archbishop McCarrick appointed by Pope John Paul as archbishop of Washington.

2000 Nov. 22, 24 — Seminary instructor Father Boniface Ramsey says he spoke Nov. 22 with Archbishop Gabriel Montalvo, the Vatican nuncio in Washington, about his concerns about Archbishop McCarrick. He also expressed his concerns in a letter addressed to the nuncio and mailed Nov. 24. Theodore Edgar McCarrick was born July 7, 1930 in New York City. His father died when McCarrick was three years old.

McCarrick entered New York’s St. Joseph’s Seminary in the early 1950s, after a family friend paid for him to study for a year in Switzerland.

He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of New York in 1958.

While a priest he earned a Ph.D. in sociology, and was an administrator and fundraiser at The Catholic University of America. He was president of the Catholic University of Puerto Rico from 1965 to 1969. He was briefly an administrator in the Archdiocese of New York, and was priest-secretary to New York’s Cardinal Terence Cooke from 1971 to 1977.

In 1977, he became an auxiliary bishop of New York.

In 1981, he became Bishop of Metuchen, New Jersey. He was the first bishop of the newly-erected Metuchen archdiocese.

In 1986, he became Archbishop of Newark.

In 2001, he became Archbishop of Washington, and was made a cardinal.

McCarrick retired as Archbishop of Washington in 2006, at age 75, the customary retirement age for bishops.

In June 2018, initial reports of sexual abuse on the part of McCarrick emerged.

In July 2018, he resigned from the College of Cardinals.

In February 2019, he was laicized, after he was found guilty in a canonical process of serial sexual abuse and misconduct.

What is the McCarrick Report?

In June 2018, the Archdiocese of New York reported that McCarrick, then a cardinal, was credibly accused of sexually abusing a teenager.

The initial allegation said McCarrick had been accused of acts of abuse that happened nearly 50 years ago, when McCarrick was a priest in the Archdiocese of New York. McCarrick was prohibited from public ministry at the time of the announcement.

No they heard there had been allegations. Pope John Paul II ordered an investigation but that delivered no Credible proof and no conviction. The result of that investigation was then passed on to the pope by his advisers. Pope JP II therefore treated McCarrick as innocent.

The following Popes got the same information about the result of the investigation and continued according to the decision of pope JPII.

Innocent untill proven guilty.. beyond reasonable doubt. etc.. a lot of people don't like a judge's decision. But you don't blame a judge for abiding by the rule of law nor accuse the judge of the crime because "he knew" about it. And this seems to me what the Vigano-Vatican standoff is about.
