Welcome to Q Research Scotland

If you are Scottish , no doubt by now you will have noticed that neither the Scottish nor UK Parliament represent you THE PEOPLE.

New "rules" are being made up daily to undermine our Legal System, effectively turning us into Government Property. We no longer are in control of our government, they no longer even pretend to act on our behalf once elected. Pretty soon they will no longer need to play along with their fake elections designed to brainwash you into believing they work for you.

The intention of this board is to provide free space for the people of this Nation to circumvent the traitorous Media, Government and Business interests arrayed against us the people, to allow us to post a collection of open-sourced and verifiable information, supplied BY and FOR the People to demonstrate their corruption and lies and take back OUR power.

UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL.

Let's take back our power collectively, no matter your racial, employment (yes, the police and military too) or religious background, we are all in this together, and will be subjected to the same tyranny if we allow the perverts and criminals in power to proceed with their plans.

Margaret Keenan, a 90-year old woman from Northern Ireland, on Tuesday became the first person to receive the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine outside of clinical trials, marking the start of the UK’s mass vaccination program as announced last week.

Keenan, who turns 91 next week, said, “I feel so privileged to be the first person vaccinated against COVID-19. It’s the best early birthday present I could wish for because it means I can finally look forward to spending time with my family and friends in the New Year after being on my own for most of the year.”

Covid: Health and care workers get first vaccine in Wales

8 December 2020

Health and care workers have been the first people in Wales to get a vaccine to protect against Covid.

Vaccinations were rolled out from Tuesday morning at seven sites across Wales as part of the UK-wide immunisation programme.

Dr Ami Jones, an intensive care consultant at Aneurin Bevan health board, was another early recipient of the vaccine.

She said: "It's huge - a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope people realise how important this is and how safe it is.

"People should trust the science. It's to protect my family and other people."

Among the first was care home worker Craig Atkins, 48, of Ebbw Vale, who got a jab at a vaccination site in Cwmbran.

More than 1,700 people received the vaccination on Tuesday, according to the Welsh Government.

It came a day after Wales reported 2,000 Covid cases in a single day for the first time.

Coronavirus Scotland: £185m business support 'too little too late'

9 December 2020

KATE Forbes has been accused of offering too little too late to businesses on the brink of collapse after she unveiled £185 million of support – but it won't be available until January.

Scotland’s Finance Secretary told MSPs that funding already passed onto the Scottish Government from Westminster will now be allocated - but £300 million will be held back as "contingency".

Ms Forbes said the £185 million pot of funding will be handed out on a “sector by sector basis so that it is appropriately targeted”.

Hospitality businesses, such as pubs and restaurants, will also be offered one-off payments of either £2,000 or £3,000 in January to help them mitigate the traditional post-Christmas dip in demand.

Included in the £185 million, is £60 million for the tourism sector – details of which are yet to be set out.

The funding will include £15 million for the wedding sector and supply chains including photographers, one-off grants totalling £15 million for mobile close contact services, such as hairdressers and a £19 million fund and one-off grants for taxi drivers.

A £5 million fund will be made available to travel agents along with almost £6 million for coach companies and tour operators and £1.5 million for visitor attractions.

The Scottish Government has also made £1.5 million available to “travelling show people ineligible of other support”.

Ms Forbes said: “We have listened to businesses and this assistance will be provided on a sector-by-sector basis, targeted at those who need it most.

“We are developing grant schemes for hospitality, for the events sector, live music and cultural venues, for the arts, indoor football centres and for the food and drink sector, including £1.8 million for brewers.”

But business leaders have lashed out at the announcement – insisting the lack of support in the lead-up to the Christmas period will do little to help sectors already in trouble having been forced to close their doors during the pandemic.

Director of the Scottish Licensed Trade Association, Colin Wilkinson, said the Scottish Government “needs to get a serious grip on the reality of the cataclysmic devastation” facing the sector.

He added: “The Finance Secretary’s ‘Christmas gift’ of £2,000 or £3,000, although we will have to wait until January to get it, will at least help pay some of the recent extra lockdown costs incurred by many of Scotland’s pubs and bars – so the one-off grant has gone even before we get it.

“The announcement of a £60 million fund for the tourism sector, the details of which will be developed in consultation with the industry, will we hope include those organisations at the coalface of representing the licensed hospitality sector which is a major contributor to Scotland’s overall tourism industry.

“Some sectors supported by this new package have done better than the licensed hospitality industry and this only raises the question of why there is such disproportionality between the level of support given and the size of the sector needing financial aid. We accept that all businesses need support but surely any financial support should be directed to those hardest hit and in most need.”

Andrew McRae, the Federation of Small Businesses’ Scotland policy chair, has welcomed the support.

He added: “While we’d like to have seen a speedier and more systematic approach to supporting local businesses crushed by the crisis, we’re pleased that ministers have seen the light following representations.

“However we’re now left with a myriad of schemes at various stages of delivery, with much of the cash unlikely to reach firms until the new year. In the future, we need to see policymakers in Edinburgh deliver help for local businesses at the same pace as they implement restrictions on the economy.”

Liz Cameron, chief executive of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said the additional help “will be cold comfort to many businesses who have so little cash left they have only weeks to survive”.

She added: “We are not convinced that the urgency of the need to pay our rent and other costs are fully understood.

“For many, January will be too late to save business owners, their families and their employees from economic ruin. This should be the top priority for all organisations who are going to be involved in supporting businesses.’’

PMQS: Blackford and Johnson on Scotland, UK and Brexit

Ian Blackford said the government admits Northern Ireland would be “getting the best of both worlds” with access to the EU’s single market and customs union.

But the SNP's leader in Westminster said Scotland was suffering from “double dealing” and asked the prime minister why that was fair.

Boris Johnson said Scotland, and the rest of the UK, would benefit from “substantial” devolved powers, the “regaining of money, borders and laws” and “control of colossal quantities of fish”.

Covid-19 in Scotland: Show us the data on new virus strain, demand scientists

Leading academics have demanded more data on the new strain of coronavirus after Christmas celebrations were curtailed without consulting the wider scientific community.

Devi Sridhar, a member of the Scottish government’s Covid-19 advisory group, said that raising the alarm over a new strain without wider peer review had stoked “unhelpful” rumours about an increased risk to children.

Linda Bauld, chair of public health at Edinburgh University, said that experts around the country had not been shown any data to support the claim from UK government scientists that the new strain was up to 70 per cent more virulent than existing strains.

Police Scotland to double its presence in border areas but no checkpoints planned

Chief Constable Iain Livingstone today announced the presence of officers would hopefully ‘deter’ anyone who might be considering breaching travel restrictions.

Edinburgh Evening News logo Police Scotland to double its presence in border areas but no checkpoints planned

Chief Constable Iain Livingstone today announced the presence of officers would hopefully ‘deter’ anyone who might be considering breaching travel restrictions.

a person riding on the back of a truck © Police Scotland to double its presence in border areas as new restrictions are put in place.

It came as the British Transport Police confirmed increased officers at major transport hubs across tier 4 regions as well as the wider network.

Yesterday Police Scotland insisted people should take ‘personal responsibility to do the right thing’ and that enforcement would only be used ‘as a last resort’.

Mr Livingstone said: “I’ve completely underlined my compassion and concern for everyone affected by the highly restrictive measures which are, unfortunately, absolutely necessary to control the spread of the virus and, ultimately, protect life.

"Following the announcement by the First Minister, there can be no doubt that, other than for the most essential journeys, people should not be travelling between Scotland and other parts of the UK.

"Today, I have authorised the doubling of out operational presence in the Border areas of Scotland.

"These highly visible patrols will be proactively deployed on our road networks to continue our operational activity to ensure drivers and vehicles are in a fit condition to drive.

"The patrols will also deter anyone who might be considering breaching the coronavirus travel restrictions.”

On Saturday, Ms Sturgeon said travel between Scotland and the rest of the UK would be banned.

This came after a surge of cases of a new coronavirus strain was identified.

The Chief Constable continued: “It is the consent of the public from which policing in Scotland draws its legitimacy.

"As our communities expect, where officers encounter wilful, persistent or flagrant breaches we will act decisively to enforce the law.”

British Transport Police Assistant Chief Constable, Sean O’Callaghan, said: “The advice is clear, and we are confident that the large majority of people will abide by the restrictions in place.

“As has been the case throughout the pandemic, officers will be supporting rail staff through high-visibility patrols across England, Scotland and Wales, ensuring those on the network are safe. Our policing method remains the same – officers will engage with passengers and only use enforcement if absolutely necessary.

John Lamont, Scottish Conservative MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, said:

“The Scottish Government and Police Scotland need to ensure clarity around travel restrictions to avoid any public misunderstanding.

"Clearly this virus does not respect borders but a range of exemptions have always been in place to allow safe and necessary travel for valid reasons, and we need to know if that has changed.”

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said:“The police have been rightly commended for their proportionate response to the travel restrictions.

"The guidance has a range of exemptions so we need the police to act in a sensitive and helpful fashion.

"That proportionate response should not just apply to the English border but across Scotland.

"There is a significant difference in the infection rate between the Highlands and central belt so that will need attention too but in an intelligent way.

"Police Scotland should resist pressure to adopt a heavy handed approach whether it is on the English border or across Scotland.”

That "consent of the public" part has me wondering when the Public was asked for consent

Check Point secures and streamlines management of NHS Scotland's sensitive health data in the public cloud, and gives hyperscalability to support rapid roll-out of Covid-19 related apps and vaccine management systems

EDINBURGH, Scotland, Dec 17, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE via COMTEX) EDINBURGH, Scotland, Dec. 17, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Check Point(R) Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), a leading provider of cyber-security solutions globally, has announced that it has been chosen by NHS National Services Scotland, the publicly funded healthcare service in Scotland to secure and streamline the management of its public cloud data, and provide complete threat prevention for vital public services such as Scotland's 'Test & Protect' and vaccine management services.

NHS Scotland provides public health and social care services to the country's population, and has been transitioning healthcare data and services to Microsoft's Azure public cloud for the past 18 months. The start of the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the need for security that seamlessly expands on demand to hyperscale capacity. NHS Scotland's cloud infrastructure powers the country's 'Test & Protect' services, which has over a million users, as well as the 'Protect Scotland' proximity app, so it was critical these services were completely secured against threats and attacks. The organization is also developing systems for scheduling and managing Covid-19 vaccinations in Scotland as the vaccines become available.

"Check Point's CloudGuard has been key in enabling us to add new cloud workloads and services without needing to constantly review or deploy new security infrastructure. This means we can focus on the critical public-facing tasks where we can add real value, such as developing and running Scotland's 'Test & Protect' services," said Deryck Mitchelson, Chief Information Security Officer, NHS Scotland. "Right now we are building our vaccination management systems, and our cloud-first approach gives us the agility and scalability we need to roll it out nationally while being sure that data and services are secured."

As it runs multiple essential healthcare systems, NHS Scotland also needs to have full visibility of who is accessing data, where it is being shared and how it is used to comply with GDPR and national data security legislation. To secure its healthcare data and services to the public cloud, NHS Scotland has implemented:

CloudGuard IaaS which delivers the same advanced threat prevention and data security in public clouds as the organization's on-premises security gateways, through the same management interface

Check Point Maestro orchestration delivers the hyperscale features that NHS Scotland requires, enabling it to seamlessly expand the capacity of existing security gateways to meet growing demands

"Health data is probably Scotland's most valuable asset, so it's essential that it remains absolutely secure wherever it is being stored or accessed. We now have much more visibility than we had before we implemented the Check Point solutions," added Mitchelson. "We can really understand where the data is and who is accessing it, from where, and ensure it is protected at every point of entry."

NHS Scotland also uses a Security information and event management (SIEM) solution. "One of the things I liked with Check Point is its integration with the SIEM vendor we're working with," said Mitchelson. "That means that we don't have to go and actually start writing and creating configurations, it just links to the SIEM system and automatically starts to work, giving us the information we need in a single console."

The five key events in the fake pandemic

by Jon Rappoport

This article is a summary. I’ve written extensively on each of the five key events.

ONE: The false claim that a new virus was discovered and isolated.

No true isolation has been performed. The so-called genetic sequencing of the virus was actually a concoction, a cobbling together of pieces of data referencing segments of RNA. These segments were PRESUMED to be parts of the new virus—but researchers didn’t have the virus, so their presumptions amounted to fraud.

TWO: The erecting of a diagnostic test (PCR) for the virus they didn’t have. Obviously, no such test has meaning. It is built on the same sorts of absurd assumptions that led to the fictional discovery of the virus. However, strategically speaking, the test has produced millions of “positive results,” which are taken to mean “infected by the virus.” On this foundation of sand, the lockdowns were declared.

THREE: The Chinese lockdown of 50 million citizens, for no medical reason. This unprecedented event provided the model for other governments, and for the CDC and the World Health Organization. Now it was “acceptable” to imprison the global population and wreak economic devastation across the planet.

FOUR: The absurd computer prediction of 500,000 deaths in the UK and two million in the US, made by historically failed modeler, Neil Ferguson. His institute at the Imperial College of London is bankrolled by Bill Gates. Ferguson’s predictions were used to convince Trump and Boris Johnson that states of emergency and lockdowns were necessary.

FIVE: The forced premature deaths of millions of elderly people across the world—which were falsely called “COVID-19 deaths.”

These people were and are suffering from multiple long-term health conditions, made far worse by decades of medical treatment with toxic drugs. Terrified by a COVID diagnosis, then isolated from family and friends, they give up and die.

There are other important events, to be sure, but these are the key five.

The underlying fact that needs to be understood: what is called COVID-19 is not one condition. It is a variety of illnesses and effects stemming from different traditional causes RE-PACKAGED under the label, “COVID.”

Where authentic new conditions and causes may be involved, independent investigators need to look closely at such clusters of people, where they live. For example, the investigators should find out whether toxic vaccine campaigns were initiated in a community or region prior to declaration of the “COVID outbreak.”

Scotland names its snow plows and their titles are amazing

The pun game is strong with the Scots.

11 December 2020

"Snowbegone Kenobi, reporting for duty." Imagine hearing that over a dispatch radio. Guess what? It's a real name, for a real snow plow in Scotland, because the Scots clearly know how to have more fun with things – this is from the country that gave us Boaty McBoatface, after all.

On Friday, social media began picking up on the fact Scotland names its whole snow plow fleet and a map of the current active plows began pushing into viral status. On first glance, some of the names may not make sense to people in the US, but note the country calls these vehicles "gritters." That makes "Gritney Spears" make much more sense.

List of names. Not sure how up-to-date this is though. pic.twitter.com/RYBMyDZ8wO

— King 👑 (@King_Gamer_1st) December 11, 2020

Who else do we have here? Ah, yes, "Gangsta Granny Gritter" was out for deployment, as was "Gritty Gritty Bang Bang." Let's not forget about "License to Chill" or "For Your Ice Only." The James Bond references are strong with the Scots. "Snowkemon Go" is another name worthy of our round of applause.

Then there's "Fred." Oh, Fred. What happened there, little dude? Imagine being on that Scottish gritter crew, when your pals get to plow through the dreaded snow in machines named "Han Snow-Lo" and "Ready Spready Go." At least Fred has a couple other toned-down (possibly Simpsons-related) names to run with, like "Mr. Plow" and "Snowball."

The BBC reports the practice of naming the plows goes back to 2006 when the Scottish Transport Ministry encouraged wee school children to come up with funny monikers for them. It launched its online tracker in 2016.

We salute you, Scotland, for the unexpected Friday laughs.

Portuguese Nurse Dies Suddenly After Receiving COVID Vaccine

05 January 2021

The latest suspicious death to occur days (or, in some cases, even hours) after a patient received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has surfaced in Portugal, where a pediatric surgery assistant in Porto (who was reportedly in "perfect health" when she received her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine) has died suddenly.

Health authorities are investigating the death. Meanwhile, scientists from around the world continue to criticize the European Union for its comparatively sluggish vaccine rollout, which only began on an emergency basis little more than one week ago.

The patient was identified on Monday as Sonia Azevedo, 41, a mother of two who worked as a surgical assistant at the Instituto Portugues de Oncologia, a cancer hospital in Porto. She was among the 538 healthcare workers at IPO who received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine last Wednesday. Azevedo had dinner with her family on New Year’s Eve, but was found dead in her bed the following morning.

Now her family members are demanding answers about the circumstances of her death, RT reports.

"I want to know what caused my daughter’s death" her father Abilio told the Portuguese tabloid Orreio da Manha. He described her as a "well and happy” person who “never drank alcohol, didn’t eat anything special or out of the ordinary."

Azevedo was so proud to be among the first to receive the vaccine, she changed her Facebook profile picture to reflect that. “Covid-19 vaccinated,” she wrote under a selfie with her face mask on. "We don’t know what happened.

It all happened quickly and with no explanation," Azevedo’s daughter Vania Figueiredo told the paper. "I didn’t notice anything different in my mother. She was fine. She just said that the area where she had been vaccinated hurt, but that’s normal…"

Portugal, which has a population of around 10 million, has so far reported more than 427K cases and over 7.1K deaths due to COVID. While Germany is leading the EU in vaccinations, Portugal is lagging behind even Argentina, according to data provided by Bloomberg.

What they don't tell you is that many among the first wave of individuals designated to receive the vaccine have been turning it down, including many health care workers like Azevedo.

Nightmarish Details Emerge on Irish Mother-Baby Homes Where 9,000 Infants Died

A government-commissioned report has uncovered some shocking revelations about the so-called “mother-baby” homes in Ireland. It’s believed that more than 9,000 infants died over the last several decades, mostly from neglect and abuse.

Most of the homes were run by the Catholic church, but similar stories were told about state-supported facilities. It’s a dark chapter in the history of this mostly Catholic, conservative country that the church kept hidden from the public.

The stigma of giving birth outside of marriage was so severe that the expectant mother was supposed to hide herself away in one of these mother-baby homes and was then pressured to give her child up for adoption. Since the babies couldn’t be placed right away, some of them spent a large part of their childhood in these homes.

Seattle Times:

The report, the culmination of a six-year investigation, detailed some 9,000 deaths of children at 14 of the country’s so-called mother and baby homes and four county homes over several decades, a mortality rate far higher than the rest of the population. The institutions, where unmarried women and girls were sent to give birth in secrecy and were pressured to give their children up for adoption, were also responsible for unethical vaccine trials and traumatic emotional abuse, the report found.

For decades, the stories of these places and the atrocities carried out in them were largely unspoken — despite calls from the mothers who became virtual prisoners within their walls and children who spent their earliest years there, later sharing stories of neglect and abuse.

The impetus for the investigation was created when the skeletal remains of 800 babies were found in an unmarked mass grave at a home run by nuns in the town of Tuam in County Galway. There had been rumors for decades about the horrific treatment of young, vulnerable women whose children were all but stolen from them after they gave birth.

It should be noted that the report spans the years from 1920-1998 — the last year the homes were open.

The report detailed how 56,000 unmarried mothers and about 57,000 children came through the homes investigated by the commission during a 76-year period. It attempted to differentiate between the earliest years of the home and those that came later.

“In the years before 1960 mother and baby homes did not save the lives of ‘illegitimate’ children; in fact, they appear to have significantly reduced their prospects of survival,” the report said, adding that the women and children “should not have been in the institutions” at all.

There have been dozens of stories of mothers desperate to find their lost children, One of them, Philomena Lee, wrote a book that was made into the 2013 film Philomena that garnered four Oscar nominations. It told Mrs. Lee’s story of her search for her son who nuns convinced her to give up and then sold to rich Americans, and the difficulties she had in tracking him.

She eventually discovered that he had died before she was able to reconnect with him.

There will be a reckoning of some kind for what happened to these women and children. The government has said it will apologize. Meanwhile, the Catholic church has remained silent on the entire matter.

The report starts closing this ugly chapter in Irish history. But the book is far from finished and to this day there are thousands of women who need to know where their children are and what’s happened to them.

This level of incompetence and arrogance cannot be possible… unless you add the 'blackmail and control' element into the mix.

If our politicians are blackmailed and controlled, the treaty signed is void in my opinion.

Fisheries minister didn’t read Brexit bill because she was “organising the local nativity trail”

Fisheries minister Victoria Prentis has confessed to not reading the post-Brexit trade deal with Brussels when it was agreed because she was too busy organising the local nativity trail.

Appearing in front of the Lords EU environment subcommittee as the UK fishing industry is plunged into disarray Prentis admitted to letting festive cheer get in the way of her scrutinising the deal on Christmas Eve.

Asked if her jaw had dropped when she saw the deal with the EU she said: “No, the agreement came when we were all very busy on Christmas Eve, in my case organising the local nativity trail.

“We had been waiting and waiting, it looked like it was coming for probably four days before it actually arrived.

“I, for one, had gone through, as I’m sure members of this committee had, a gamut of emotions over those four days.”

Scottish seafood left to rot

The comments came as significant amounts of Scottish seafood was left to rot as exports were tangled in Brexit bureaucracy.

Industry groups have warned that a “perfect storm” of factors has led to long delays before lorries carrying fresh seafood can leave Scotland – partly down to the paperwork now required to send goods to Europe.

Under post-Brexit rules, vets must sign off on consignments and provide an export health certificate – which is needed for wild fish and farmed salmon since Britain left the EU customs union last week.

The Scottish Seafood Association said exports to the EU are being hindered by “red tape” delays in Scotland and France.

Unbelievable

The SNP’s Brexit spokesperson, Philippa Whitford, said: “Due to Brexit-induced bureaucracy, Scotland’s fishing communities are already experiencing severe disruption and cannot get their produce to their customers in the EU market on time.

“For the Tory government’s fisheries minister to then admit that she did not even bother to read the details of the damaging deal because she was too busy is unbelievable and makes her position untenable.”

Irish Health Dept forced to admit in court CV 19 virus doesn't exist

Here is a video from 12/27/2020. A court in Ireland refused to provide evidence of isolate (laboratory isolate) of the Sars-cov-2 virus. Specifically, the court acknowledged that it had no evidence that the virus had ever been isolated (purified from other biomaterial) by anyone in a laboratory. In other words, the court stated that it has no evidence of the existence of a scientifically obtained strain of this virus.

websitethatredditremovesstartswithBITandrhymeswithPARACHUTE /video/LjCLRqJpxlXK/

In addition to refusing to provide scientific evidence for the existence of the sars-cov-2 virus, the court also failed to provide the scientific justification for the mandatory wearing of masks, social distancing, and, of course, vaccination.

In the second half of the video, very reasonable questions are asked:

  • what kind of vaccine (or preventive drugs) can we even talk about when there is no causative virus of the "disease"?

  • what kind of "coronavirus" mutations are we constantly being told about by the so-called "scientists", if there is no virus isolate?

And many others.

Of course, the global financial capital does not care about all this and will continue to force its narrative as if nothing had happened. In November WHO officials were still shamelessly appealing to the statements of the Chinese authorities (dated 07.01.2020) about the alleged isolation of a new virus, as well as to the WHO statistics concerning 60 million "confirmed cases" and more than 1.4 million deaths "from covid" as proof of the "existance of the Sars-Cov-2". https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-pandemic-idUSKBN2862DL .

In other words, WHO officials are only referencing the media and themselves…

They got tangled up in their own lies. For example, back in mid July, in a COVID-19 diagnostic instruction published on their official website, on p. 39 it was explicitly stated that they were testing PCR on some surrogate/simulation of the sars-cov-2 virus. Because they simply didn't have the real virus in their laboratory in Atlanta, one of the largest in the USA. How is that possible? How is that possible that they are ordering to clean driveways and public places, presumably because virus is everywhere, yet they don't have it in their largest labs? Well, the answer is simple and I think you know it already.

Urgent recall issued on hand sanitiser being sold in the UK as analysis reveals gel contains 'highly toxic banned substance' that can lead to BLINDNESS if ingested

The Trading Standards has issued a recall for two hand sanitiser gels

One gel called 'lbcccndc Instant Hand Sanitiser' was found to contain methanol

Methanol can cause a range of side effects if ingested, including blindness

The other gel, Yucky Hands, was recalled after tests showed it did not contain sufficient levels of ethanol to kill germs, such as the Covid-19 virusSince the coronavirus pandemic kicked off last year, hand sanitisers have become staple items in most people's bags.

But a new report has warned that some hand sanitiser products available to purchase online may be unsafe to use.

Trading Standards has issued a recall for two hand sanitiser gels being sold on Amazon and eBay, which were found to pose serious health risks to the public.Worryingly, one of the gels was found to contain 37 per cent methanol - a highly toxic banned substance that if ingested, can lead to blindness and death.

Methanol is currently on The Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfumery Association's list of banned ingredients allowed in any hand sanitisers in the UK.

The gel, which was sold in the UK on AliBaba and Ebay, was found to contain 37 per cent methanol - a toxic alcohol that is used industrially as a solvent, pesticide, and alternative fuel source.

According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), methanol can can cause a range of nasty side effects if ingested.

The CDC said: 'Methanol's toxicity is due to its metabolic products. The by-products of methanol metabolism cause an accumulation of acid in the blood (metabolic acidosis), blindness, and death.'

Methanol is on the UK's list of banned ingredients for hand sanitisers, and has been call 'unacceptable' by the FDA.

The FDA said: 'Methanol is not an acceptable ingredient for hand sanitisers and must not be used due to its toxic effects. FDA’s investigation of methanol in certain hand sanitisers is ongoing. The agency will provide additional information as it becomes available.'

Ibcccndc Instant Hand Sanitiser was also found to contain insufficient levels of ethanol (7 per cent) to kill germs, such as the Covid-19 virus.

Meanwhile, the second hand gel to be recalled was called Yucky Hands, despite the fact that its US-based producer, YuckyGroup, claimed the gel was 'FDA & WHO approved'.

While this hand sanitiser did not contain methanol, an analysis revealed that it only contained an alcohol volume of 42.3 per cent, which is considered insufficient to effectively kill viruses.

Natalie Hitchins, Head of Home Products and Services at Which?, said: 'It's really worrying that hand sanitisers that at best fail to protect and at worst could cause serious harm to someone's health continue to be found readily available on online marketplaces.

Scotland Extends Virus Lockdown Until at Least Mid-February

By Rodney Jefferson

January 19, 2021, 9:52 AM EST

Scotland extended its lockdown until at least the middle of February as the rate of coronavirus infections puts severe pressure on the health service.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the current restrictions, including the closure of schools and non-essential stores, will be reviewed again on Feb. 2. She told the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh that it’s still unclear whether a phased return of school children can be announced then.

“Our reluctant judgment is that community transmission is too high and is likely to remain so,” she said.

The Scottish government, which has control over health policy, put much of the country into lockdown after Christmas along with the rest of the U.K. as a new strain of Covid-19 spread rapidly. It has also shut borders to non-essential travel and all arrivals must quarantine.

ase numbers have stabilized and even declined in some areas, which shows the lockdown is having an impact, Sturgeon said. But just under 2,000 people are in hospital, 30% more than the last peak in April.

Sturgeon defended the rollout of a vaccine program after criticism over supply in some areas and promised that in three months time, 3 million people will have received their first dose of the vaccine. The rest of Scotland’s 5.5 million people will receive theirs “as quickly as supplies allow.”

“This phase is on a downward trajectory, but we need to be realistic that it’s because we are staying at home,” she said.

{Excuse me, but what areas exactly have this huge pressure of cases and why are no Field Hospitals being set up or other measures taken?}

Nicola Sturgeon admits Covid vaccine wastage in Scotland following rollout

Claire Anderson

23 Jan 2021

Nicola Sturgeon explained that there is an assumption up to five percent of the Covid vaccine could be wasted as the supply chain is disrupted. She went on to reveal that one percent of the vaccine in Scotland has been wasted. Speaking in Scottish Parliament, Jackie Baillie MSP asked: "Last week the Government published the COVID-19 deployment plan which allowed for five percent of Covid vaccines to be wasted.

"Can I ask the First Minister, can she tell us how many doses of vaccine have been wasted since rollout began?"

Ms Sturgeon replied: "There is an international standard on wasted assumptions on a programme of this scale.

"Five percent is a planning assumption; what it is there to do is just make sure we're factoring in the possibility of some large scale breakdown in the supply chain.

"A big freezer might malfunction or something else happens that disrupts a siginficant supply.

"There is not five percent wasted in practice."

"The wastage rate is around one percent and there are huge efforts to get that even lower."

It comes as Ms Sturgeon said future generations will learn lessons which will emerge from the Government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

The First Minister insisted that as Scotland and other countries remain in the grip of the "crisis", her Government is focused for now on dealing with it.

But she also stressed the importance of learning from what has happened in the 10 months since coronavirus arrived in Scotland last March.

The Scottish Government has come under fire over some of the decisions it has made - such as transferring elderly patients from hospital to care homes in the early part of the pandemic without first testing them for Covid.

"We've got things wrong, and I have tried never to shy away from this," Ms Sturgeon said on Friday.

"Some of that will be relatively small things in the grand scheme of things, some of that might be bigger."

Having the buns in expanded form and notables for each bread at the end as a "final" post before going into a new bake should help.

In a way, having 8kun get twonky to where I baked this one earlier than I wanted and anons came over from General while that board was fighting the baker there was good for the efforts here. Scotland to publish vaccine supply data amid EU row with AstraZeneca

By Reuters Staff

LONDON (Reuters) - Scotland will publish COVID-19 detailed vaccine supply data next week even though the British government has so far refused to do so amid a row between the European Union and drug companies such as AstraZeneca over delayed deliveries.

Europe’s fight to secure vaccines intensified on Thursday when the EU warned drug companies that it would use all legal means or even block exports unless they agreed to deliver shots as promised.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, fielding questions about the pace of the vaccine rollout, said that vaccine supply data would be published from next week even though the British government had demanded it not publish such data.

“I think we’ll just go back to publishing the actual supply figures from next week, so that we all have transparency around that,” Sturgeon told the Scottish parliament on Thursday.

The EU’s contract with AstraZeneca for its COVID-19 vaccine contains binding orders, EU Commision Head Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday, demanding a plausible explanation from the drugmaker for delivery hold-ups.

Stop endless referendum talk, UK PM Johnson tells Scotland

By Andrew MacAskill, Guy Faulconbridge

LONDON (Reuters) - Prime Minister Boris Johnson told Scottish nationalists on Thursday to stop talking “endlessly” about a new independence referendum, saying most people wanted to see Britain “bouncing back more strongly together” after the COVID-19 pandemic eases.

On a trip to Scotland to try to stem growing support for another referendum, Johnson opted for a blunt message, saying independence supporters had their chance in 2014 in a vote they had agreed at the time was “a once-in-a-generation event”.

The bonds that tie England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland together in a $3 trillion economy have been severely strained by both Britain’s exit from the European Union and Johnson’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

Opinion surveys indicate a majority of Scots would now favour breaking apart the 314-year-old union between England and Scotland.

But Johnson, whose unpopularity runs deep in Scotland according to opinion polls, suggested he was sticking to his position of not approving another referendum, which the Scottish National Party needs to hold a legal vote.

“I don’t think that the right thing to do is to talk endlessly about another referendum when I think what the people of the country and the people of Scotland want in particular is to fight this pandemic,” Johnson said at a laboratory just outside Edinburgh.

“I don’t see the advantage of getting lost in pointless constitutional wrangling when after all we had a referendum not so very long ago,” he said.

Nicola Sturgeon to be ousted as Scotland's First Minister this year - bookies slash odds

Simon Osborne

31 January 2021

The SNP leader has come under fire for her handling of the coronavirus vaccination programme in Scotland amid allegations she has become too focused on securing a second independence referendum after local elections in May. She was also heavily criticised for appearing to side with the EU over the vaccines row by threatening to publish commercially sensitive data about the amount of doses being shipped into the UK.

And she was accused of hypocrisy when she claimed Boris Johnson's recent visits to Glasgow and Livingstone could be in breach of his own "stay at home" coronavirus rules.

One critic tweeted: "Should the Conservatives tweet Nicola Sturgeon's daily trip from Glasgow to Edinburgh?

"Sickening that the SNP are using a global pandemic for political point scoring."

Another said: "Nicola Sturgeon commutes between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The SNP, hypocrisy at every turn."

And in a post directed at Ms Sturgeon, another critic tweeted: "Do you realise how petty you come across?"

Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Apati said the odds on her remaining in office for the rest of 2021 had now been cut.

He said: "Having been a 9/4 shot earlier this morning, the bookies have since trimmed odds to just 2/1 on Sturgeon being replaced before the year is out.

"As things stand it's Angus Robertson who heads the betting to be the next First Minister at 4/1, ahead of Joanna Cherry and Kate Forbes (both 6/1).

"It's looking increasingly likely Nicola Sturgeon won't be the Scottish First Minister by the time the year is over, if the latest odds are anything to go by."

Scotland is ready to run the May elections, despite the pandemic

14 January 2021

Important Scottish parliament elections are scheduled for May 2021 and the expectation is that the Scottish National Party will emerge as the biggest party, potentially even with enough votes to form a majority government, after ruling as a minority since 2016.

Also, Scotland is in good shape to hold these elections. Electoral administrators and policymakers have been planning in depth for COVID-19 mitigations for May’s elections since at least mid-2020.

The Scottish parliament has the power to legislate on electoral law for Scottish parliament and local elections. At the end of December, it passed the Scottish General Election (Coronavirus) Bill. This provides for a range of contingencies to allow the elections to proceed. Crucially, this was passed on a cross-party basis, with 117 votes for and none against. Scotland was also unique among the UK’s four electoral jurisdictions in allowing a few council byelections to be held late in 2020, so Scottish electoral administrators have some experience of conducting elections under COVID-19 circumstances. This situation contrasts with the renewed debate in England, where no such cross-party legislation has yet been developed.

How elections will work

The contingency legislation for the Scottish elections contains various measures to make voting possible within the confines of coronavirus rules.

To minimise traffic at polling stations, for example, more people will be encouraged to vote by post. Pre-pandemic, rates of postal voting had already been on the increase – up from 11.2% in 2007 to 18% in 2016. Levels of postal voting under pandemic conditions are expected to be around 40%, but the legislation makes it possible for the vote to be held entirely by post, if that’s necessary.

Postal voting is logistically complex. It takes time to register voters for it and to implement the various security measures that legislation rightly provides for. The Scottish government is providing extra funding to electoral registration officers to ensure they have the resources to process increased numbers of postal votes. If the vote does have to be fully postal, the elections will need to be postponed for six months.

The legislation allows for additional contingencies should the pandemic worsen. There has been discussion about extending voting over several days to help with social distancing. This was put into place in Queensland, Australia and is often recommended. It would be logistically challenging and may necessitate a delayed election. Provision has been made for this in the Scottish General Election (Coronavirus) Act, allowing ministers to extend voting on the recommendation of the Electoral Management Board. The expectation remains that the election will be held over one day.

Provision has also been made should MSPs need to delay returning to parliament to choose a first minister because of the pandemic. Regardless of any potential postponement, the elections have to be held by November 5 2021.

Making it happen

A widespread public education campaign will be key to ensuring the May 2021 Scottish parliament elections are a success. This should focus on the need to register early for postal votes. Often voters leave this to close to the deadline. Doing so in 2021 could lead to considerable pressure on electoral administrators. It could also lead to voters missing the deadline. This could mean that they have to attend polling stations, increasing the risk of spreading coronavirus. This postal vote campaign needs to start now. It needs to use all available channels of communication.

There needs also to be clear communication to the media, to voters and political parties that counts will take longer. Results are unlikely to be available overnight.

Communicating what to expect in polling stations will also be important. Voters will find social distancing in place, where appropriate, with one-way systems and possible limits on numbers in polling stations. There will be regular sanitisation and an expectation that voters will wear face coverings. In recent years, there has been a conspiracy theory and movement against pencils in polling booths (using #UsePens on social media), suggesting that pencil marks are insecure and might be changed. In 2021, voters may actually have to take their own instead of using a shared pencil, or single-use pens or pencils may have to be provided.

At least 36 people develop blood disorder and a doctor DIES after receiving Pfizer or Moderna COVID vaccines - as experts probe potential link between shots and the rare condition

At least 36 cases of thrombocytopenia after COVID-19 vaccination have been reported in the US

One person, a previously healthy Miami doctor aged 56, died of the blood disorder which causes platelet counts to drop, preventing blood from clotting

Thrombocytopenia has occurred after other shots, but it is exceedingly rare and not yet clear whether vaccines could cause it

At least 36 people have developed a rare, life-threatening blood disorder, called thrombocytopenia, after receiving either of the two COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the US.

One of them, Miami obstetrician Dr Gregory Michael, died after thrombocytopenia caused his platelets to drop to virtually zero. He was just 56 and died of a brain hemorrhage just 16 days after receiving Pfizer's shot.

And doctors ordered Luz Legaspi, 72, not to leave her bed for over a week, for fear a bump, bruise, fall or other minor injury could lead to a similar hemorrhage and prove fatal for her.

Thrombocytopenia has been seen after other vaccines as well, and experts suspect that the shot does act as a trigger in some way - they just don't know why yet.

But so far, the platelet-suppressing condition appears exceedingly rare - affecting just 36 people out of 43 million doses administered in the US - and scientists theorize that only a small fraction of the population may have some predisposition that could lead vaccines to trigger the blood disorder.

Of 15 people included in a forthcoming study, only one had a recent history of low platelet counts, and there were no clear common threads that predict who might be the very few to develop thrombocytopenia after vaccination.

But with the exception of Dr Michael, all others so far have recovered after treatment.

CDC Exposed: Inflated Covid Deaths By 1600% Throughout The Election, “Violated Multiple Federal Laws” Peer-Reviewed Study Finds…State, Local Governments Must Act

100 Percent Fed Up reports – Throughout the election, Donald Trump was battered by CCP Virus statistics in order to hurt the American economy and his political campaign. We know that it was shamelessly wielded as a political weapon to prevent President Trump and his supporters from rallying as Antifa and Black Lives Matter burned progressive poor and minority neighborhoods to the ground throughout the entire year. Now that Biden has been installed into the office of president, he promises to increase Covid lockdown measures and extend them further into your ability to travel and force unscientific mask-wearing for at least 100 days.

But, a new peer reviewed study has been released that finds the CDC numbers to be so wildly unsupported as to be pure propaganda that is based on wholly unscientific practices that were needlessly created on-the-spot.

The National File Reports

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stands accused of violating federal law by inflating Coronavirus fatality numbers, according to stunning information obtained by NATIONAL FILE.

CDC illegally inflated the COVID fatality number by at least 1,600 percent as the 2020 presidential election played out, according to a study published by the Public Health Initiative of the Institute for Pure and Applied Knowledge. The study, “COVID-19 Data Collection, Comorbidity & Federal Law: A Historical Retrospective,” was authored by Henry Ealy, Michael McEvoy, Daniel Chong, John Nowicki , Monica Sava, Sandeep Gupta, David White, James Jordan , Daniel Simon, and Paul Anderson.”

The study is 25 pages long with over 100 citations. However, the main main points can be summarized.

A major point is that testing inaccuracies and unreliability combined with unscientific procedures and methods resulted in demonstrably massive false-positive spikes:

“The CDC is now legally requiring red-blooded Americans to wear face masks on all public transportation as globalists try to push the concept of “double-masking” on the populace. Since the election, the World Health Organization admits that PCR tests are not totally reliable on the first try and a second test might be needed. This corresponds with CDC’s quiet admission that it blended viral and antibody test results for its case numbers and that people can test positive on an antibody test if they have antibodies from a family of viruses that cause the common cold. Hospitals in Florida had so many accuracy complications that Orlando Health had to admit that its 9.4 percent positivity rate got recorded at 98 percent. (READ: The TRUTH About Fauci and Gates And NIH Owning A Stake in the Vaccine).”

There are also profound legal implications raised by the study that need to be dealt with in courts around the country if America is to ever be free again. The data you have been spoonfed by the CDC for a year raises serious legal issues. Much like the 2020 election, massive changes in rules for reporting and collecting data were instituted exclusively for Covid which resulted in a 1600% inflated number of fatalities:

“The groundbreaking peer-reviewed research…asserts that the CDC willfully violated multiple federal laws including the Information Quality Act, Paperwork Reduction Act, and Administrative Procedures Act at minimum. (Publishing Journal – Institute for Pure and Applied Knowledge / Public Health Policy Initiative) Most notably, the CDC illegally enacted new rules for data collection and reporting exclusively for COVID-19 that resulted in a 1,600% inflation of current COVID-19 fatality totals,” the watchdog group All Concerned Citizens declared in a statement provided to NATIONAL FILE, referring to the Institute for Pure and Applied Knowledge study.

“The research demonstrates that the CDC failed to apply for mandatory federal oversight and failed to open a mandatory period for public scientific comment in both instances as is required by federal law before enacting new rules for data collection and reporting. The CDC is required to be in full compliance with all federal laws even during emergency situations. The research asserts that CDC willfully compromised the accuracy and integrity of all COVID-19 case and fatality data from the onset of this crisis in order to fraudulently inflate case and fatality data,” stated All Concerned Citizens.”

Farage: We Are Fast Becoming a Police State

Brexit leader Nigel Farage has criticised Health Secretary Matt Hancock for being “drunk on his own power” after introducing a law making it a criminal offence to lie about having travelled from a coronavirus ‘red list’ nation, which could result in ten years in prison.

The health secretary announced the new measures on Tuesday, putting the potential sentence on a par with prison terms handed out for serious crimes such as poisoning or making threats to kill.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage reacted to the remarkable development in Britain’s coronavirus strategy, saying: “The Coronavirus Act allows ministers to take the most draconian decisions without due process or a vote in parliament. It is a threat to civil liberties.”

— Nigel Farage (@Nigel_Farage) February 10, 2021

Mr Farage reminded Britons during a YouTube broadcast on Wednesday that he had warned the government was “taking far too much power” and eroding Britons’ liberties for several months, but that “all of this went a step too far” following Hancock’s “diktat”, saying the health minister had become “completely drunk on his own power”.

“We are fast becoming a police state,” Mr Farage later remarked.

Former Supreme Court Justice Jonathan Sumption had also warned that government ministers’ ability to force through new measures and police expanded powers to enforce it made Britain increasingly look like a “police state”.

Farage further criticised the government’s hypocritical approach to border control, where that while last year “they couldn’t care less about our borders” and allowed 18 million people to arrived unchecked in the three months up to the first lockdown, Britons are now ordered to quarantine in hotels for ten days if they have come from any of the dozens of “red list” nations at a cost of £1,750 per person for accommodation, travel, and testing.

— Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) February 11, 2021

He also remarked on the complete lack of parity in treatment between legal arrivals — threatened with costly hotel confinement or arrest — and illegal aliens who continue to arrive across the English Channel to be put up at taxpayers’ expense.

“There is one exception to all of this: if you come into the UK illegally by dinghy across the English Channel on the next calm day, the fact that you’ve got no documentation, the fact you’ve not had a PCR coronavirus test in the previous three days, none of that will matter. You will still get put into a hotel. The difference is: nobody will charge you £1,700 for the privilege.

“If ever there was a moment to start dealing with illegal immigration, surely it’s now. If we’re going to get tough with our borders, is this not the moment to say, ‘We will not accept people coming criminally into the United Kingdom and posing a massive coronavirus risk’?” he said.

The Reform UK leader also said that while he could understand the government providing documentary proof of vaccination so that Britons could use it to enter foreign countries demanding it, “what I don’t want, is for us to finish up with people in the street being stopped asked to produce their papers to prove they’ve been vaccinated. With this government as out of control as it is as we’ve seen in the last 24 hours, I think any of these things are possible.”

“This is about our liberties. This is about our freedoms. The more power central government takes, the more difficult it is to get those freedoms back,” he warned.

No Kneeling: Scotland and Wales Players All Remain Standing Before Rugby Game

Players for Scotland and Wales all remained standing ahead of their Six Nations rugby match on Saturday, defying uproar over many players not kneeling to Black Lives Matter at the earlier Scotland vs England fixture.

While players for England — with some notable exceptions — decided to “take a knee” for Black Lives Matter before facing off against the Scots team in their home stadium, only a handful of Scottish players followed suit.

The Scots went on to heft the Calcutta Cup after soundly defeating the English team — their first win over their much larger neighbour on English soil since 1983 — but the fact they had largely shunned the kneeling to BLM which has become ritual in many sports, and in particular football, before the game triggered a woke backlash.

“#AsOne is the message from Scottish Rugby. But the players don’t seem to be ‘as one’ in their stance against racism,” sniped Sky Sports News editor Anthony Joseph.

“It’s less about ‘they should kneel’ and more about ‘why wouldn’t they?’” he added, despite the fact that athletes’ decision to knee — or not — is supposed to be a personal one, and a subject for interrogation.

Rather than buckle under the pressure, however, the Scots’ stance on kneeling appears to have hardened following the outcry, with none of the players for their team or the Welsh national team kneeling ahead of their own Six Nations clash.

Putting this here to help with a dig on SERCO

SCOTLAND NORTHLINK FERRIES OPERATED BY SERCO

Currently the NorthLink fleet consists of:

MV Hamnavoe, on the Pentland Firth route, 112 m long

MV Hjaltland and MV Hrossey, sister ships, on the Aberdeen to Lerwick via Kirkwall route, 125 m long both in service since 2002

MS Hildasay and MS Helliar, sister ships, used for freight and livestock to Orkney and Shetland, sailing from Aberdeen.

Scottish Government agency Transport Scotland purchased all of the ferries used by Northlink during the 2018-19 financial year. They will be managed by Scottish Government corporation Caledonian Maritime Assets.[18]

Former fleet consists of:

MV Hascosay and MV Clare, formerly used for freight and livestock to Orkney and Shetland, sailing from Aberdeen. They were sold in 2010 and 2011 both replaced by both MS Hildasay and MS Helliar.

Ferries on the Aberdeen route have onboard cinemas and occasional live entertainment.

In Scotland, Serco has operated the NorthLink Ferries ferry service since July 2012.[29] In September 2018 it commenced operating a bicycle-sharing system under contract to Transport for Edinburgh.[30]

Serco Group plc is a British company with headquarters based in Hook, Hampshire, England.[3] Serco manages over 500 contracts worldwide. The company employs over 50,000 people.[3] Serco operates in the following sectors of public service provision: Health, Transport, Justice, Immigration, Defence, and Citizens Services. Serco primarily derives income as a contractor from the provision of government services.[3]

It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. The majority of Serco's turnover is generated from UK operations, but the company also operates in Continental Europe, the Middle East, the Asia Pacific region and North America.

In July 2019, a fine of £19.2m was imposed on Serco for fraud and false accounting over its electronic tagging service for the Ministry of Justice. The company was also ordered to pay the Serious Fraud Office's investigative costs of £3.7 million.[4] The company has also been accused of an extensive cover-up over sexual abuse of immigrants at Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre in Bedfordshire,[5] and, together with its consortium partners, failing to develop a strategy for managing Higher Active radioactive Waste at the Atomic Weapons Establishment.[5]

Alex Salmond will not appear before MSPs on Wednesday

(23 Feb 2021)

Alex Salmond will not give evidence on Wednesday to the inquiry into how the Scottish government handled complaints against him.

A Scottish Parliament spokesperson said the former first minister had told the committee he would not be attending.

He has now offered to appear before MSPs on Friday.

The move came after the parliament withdrew and then republished a revised version of one of Mr Salmond's submissions to the inquiry.

The Crown Office had raised "grave concerns" about its publication.

Mr Salmond's lawyers had described the parliament's decision as a "significant surprise and concern" which could have "a material bearing on whether he was able to attend the evidence session on Wednesday.

Salmond alleges 'malicious' attempt to damage him

Sturgeon challenges Salmond over 'conspiracy' claims

What is the Salmond and Sturgeon row all about?

The committee now plans to meet in private "to discuss the implications of Mr Salmond's response and the next steps for its work".

Mr Salmond's submission included claims that there had been a "complete breakdown of the necessary barriers which should exist between government, political party and the prosecution authorities".

The former first minister alleged there was "a deliberate, prolonged, malicious and concerted effort amongst a range of individuals within the Scottish government and the SNP to damage my reputation, even to the extent of having me imprisoned".

The people named by Mr Salmond in his submissions include Nicola Sturgeon's husband Peter Murrell, who is the chief executive of the SNP, and Ms Sturgeon's chief of staff, Liz Lloyd.

Mr Salmond has also accused Ms Sturgeon, who succeeded him as first minister and SNP leader, of misleading parliament and breaching the ministerial code.

Ms Sturgeon has denied the allegations and told BBC Scotland that there was "not a shred of evidence" to back up his claims of a conspiracy.

The inquiry committee has been examining what went wrong with the government's internal investigation into sexual harassment complaints against Mr Salmond that were made by two female civil servants.

The government had to pay legal expenses of more than £500,000 to Mr Salmond after it admitted it had acted unlawfully during the investigation.

Mr Salmond was later cleared of 13 charges of sexual assault against a total of nine women after a High Court trial last year.

The former first minister had been expected to appear before the inquiry on 9 February, but this was cancelled when the committee voted, along party lines, not to publish one of his written submissions.

Mr Salmond insisted he could not live up to an oath to "tell the whole truth" without being able to refer to this document.

After a legal clarification, the committee referred the matter to the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body which concluded that "on balance" it would be possible for the document to be published.

The submission was finally published on Monday evening, but it prompted the Crown Office to raise "grave concerns".

The parliament later removed one of the documents and republished the submission in another form, which in turn led to Mr Salmond announcing he could not appear at the evidence session scheduled for Wednesday.

Part One

This is Alex Salmond’s submission to the Hamilton Inquiry, in which he accuses First Minister Nicola Sturgeon of misleading parliament and breaching the ministerial code.

Introduction

  1. This is a submission to James Hamilton at his repeated request to assist in his examination of possible breaches of the Ministerial Code by the First Minister.

  1. I have also shared this submission with the Parliamentary Committee as it is relevant to Phase Four of their Inquiry into complaints handling by Civil Servants, Government Ministers and Special Advisers.

  1. The Whatsapp messages between myself and the First Minister were provided to the Parliamentary Committee by the First Minister and published by them. Therefore, I do not enclose them here, save for the inclusion of the message of 13th July 2018 in unredacted form referred to below. (Appendix A)

The Terms of Reference

  1. Mr Hamilton wrote to me on 8th September, 29th October, 16th November, 4th and 19th December. I replied on 6th and 17th October, 23rd November and 23rd December. I finally agreed under some protest to make this submission.

The reason for my concern is that the remit drawn up for Mr Hamilton focuses on whether the First Minister intervened in a civil service process. As I have pointed out to Mr Hamilton, I know of no provisions in the Ministerial Code which makes it improper for a First Minister to so intervene.

  1. To the contrary, intervention by the First Minister in an apparently unlawful process (subsequently confirmed by the Court of Session) would not constitute a breach precisely because the First Minister is under a duty in clause 2.30 of the Ministerial Code to avoid such illegality on the part of the Government she leads.

  1. Further, to suggest intervention was a breach would be to ignore and contradict the express reliance of the procedure on the position of the First Minister as the leader of the party to which the former minister was a member in order to administer some unspecified sanction.

  1. It will accordingly be a significant surprise if any breach of the Ministerial Code is found when the terms of reference have been tightly drafted by the Deputy First Minister to focus on that aspect of the First Minister’s conduct.

  1. By contrast, I have information which suggests other related breaches of the Ministerial Code which should properly be examined by Mr Hamilton. I have asked that he undertake that investigation. I have drawn his attention to the apparent parliamentary assurance from the First Minister on 29th October 2020 that there was no restriction on Mr Hamilton preventing him from doing so.

  1. Mr Hamilton has failed to give me a clear response as to whether these related matters relevant to the Ministerial Code, but outwith the specific remit, are going to be considered. However, in his letter of 4th December he did indicate that he was inclined to the view that such matters could be considered and will take into account arguments for their inclusion. It is on that basis I make this submission.

  1. In doing so, I would note that it does not serve the public interest if the independent process of examination of the Ministerial Code (which I introduced as First Minister) is predetermined, or seen to be predetermined, by a restrictive remit given by the Deputy First Minister.

  1. A restricted investigation would not achieve its purpose of genuine independent determination and would undermine confidence in what has been a useful innovation in public accountability.

  1. I would accordingly urge Mr Hamilton to embrace the independence of his role and the express assurance given to the Scottish Parliament by the First Minister that he is free to expand the original remit drafted by the Deputy First Minister and to address each of the matters contained in this submission.

Breaches of the Ministerial Code.

  1. Beyond the terms of the remit set for Mr Hamilton by the Deputy First Minister, there are other aspects of the conduct of the First Minister which, in my submission, require scrutiny and determination in relation to breaches of the Ministerial Code.

  1. I was contacted by phone on or around 9 March 2018 and further the following week by Geoff Aberdein, my former Chief of Staff. The purpose of the contact was to tell me about meetings he had held with the First Minister’s Chief of Staff, Liz Lloyd, at her request.

  1. In the second of these meetings she had informed him that she was aware of two complaints concerning me under a new complaints process introduced to include former Ministers. She named one of the complainers to him. At that stage I did not know the identity of the other complainer.

  1. On receipt of the letter from the Permanent Secretary first informing me of complaints on 7th March 2018 I had secured Levy and McRae as my solicitors and Duncan Hamilton, Advocate and Ronnie Clancy QC as my counsel.

>>13034821

Part Two

  1. Even at this early stage we had identified that there were a range of serious deficiencies in the procedure. There was no public or parliamentary record of it ever being adopted. In addition it contained many aspects of both procedural unfairness and substantive illegality.

There was an obvious and immediate question over the respect to which the Scottish Government even had jurisdiction to consider the complaints. In relation to former Ministers (in contrast to current Ministers) it offered no opportunity for mediation. The complaints procedure of which I was familiar (‘Fairness at Work’) was based on the legislative foundation of the Ministerial Code in which the First Minister was the final decision maker.

I wished to bring all of these matters to the attention of the First Minister. I did not know at that stage the degree of knowledge and involvement in the policy on the part of both the First Minister and her Chief of Staff.

  1. Mr Aberdein had been asked by Ms Lloyd to be her contact with me and they jointly arranged a meeting with the First Minister in the Scottish Parliament on 29th March 2018. This meeting was for the purpose of discussing the complaints and thereafter arranging a direct meeting between myself and the First Minister.

There was never the slightest doubt what the meeting was about. Any suggestion by the First Minister to the Scottish Parliament (Official Report, 8th October 2020) that the meeting was ‘fleeting or opportunistic’ is simply untrue.

It was agreed on the 29th March 2018 at the meeting in the Scottish Parliament attended by Mr Aberdein and the First Minister [REDACTED] that the meeting between myself and the First Minister would take place on 2nd April at her home near Glasgow. Self-evidently only the First Minister could issue that invitation to her private home.

  1. In attendance at the meeting on 2nd April 2018 were Mr Aberdein, Mr Hamilton, Ms Lloyd and myself. The First Minister and I met privately and then there was a general discussion with all five of us. My purpose was to alert the First Minister to the illegality of the process (not being aware at that time of her involvement in it) and to seek an intervention from the First Minister to secure a mediation process to resolve the complaints.

  1. I was well aware that under the Ministerial Code the First Minister should notify the civil service of the discussion and believed that this would be the point at which she would make her views known. The First Minister assured us that she would make such an intervention at an appropriate stage.

  1. On 23rd April 2018, I phoned the First Minister by arrangement on WhatsApp to say that a formal offer of mediation was being made via my solicitor to the Permanent Secretary that day. In the event, this offer was declined by the Permanent Secretary, even before it was put to the complainers.

  1. By the end of May, it was becoming clear that the substantial arguments my legal team were making in correspondence against the legality of the procedure were not having any impact with the Permanent Secretary. My legal team advised that it was impossible properly to defend myself against the complaints under such a flawed procedure. They advised that a petition for Judicial Review would have excellent prospects of success given the Government were acting unlawfully.

However I was extremely reluctant to sue the Government I once led. I wanted to avoid the damage both to the Scottish Government and the SNP which would inevitably result. To avoid such a drastic step, I resolved to let the First Minister see the draft petition for Judicial Review. As a lawyer, and as First Minister, I assumed that she would see the legal jeopardy into which the government was drifting. I therefore sought a further meeting.

  1. On 1st June 2018 the First Minister sent me a message which was the opposite of the assurance she had given on the 2nd April 2018 suggesting instead that she had always said that intervention was “not the right thing to do”.

That was both untrue and disturbing. On 3rd June 2018 I sent her a message on the implications for the Government in losing a Judicial Review and pointing to her obligation (under the Ministerial Code) to ensure that her administration was acting lawfully and (under the Scotland Act) to ensure that their actions were compliant with the European Convention.

  1. The First Minister and I met in Aberdeen on 7th June 2018 when I asked her to look at the draft Judicial Review Petition. She did briefly but made it clear she was now disinclined to make any intervention.

Part Three

  1. My desire to avoid damaging and expensive litigation remained. My legal team thereafter offered arbitration as an alternative to putting the matter before the Court of Session. That proposal was designed to offer a quick and relatively inexpensive means of demonstrating the illegality of the procedure in a process which guaranteed the confidentiality of the complainers.

It would also have demonstrated the illegality of the process in a forum which would be much less damaging to the Scottish Government than the subsequent public declaration of illegality.

I was prepared at that time to engage fully with the procedure in the event my legal advice was incorrect. In the event, of course, it was robust. I explained the advantages of such an approach to the First Minister in a Whatsapp message of 5th July 2018.

  1. (REDACTED)

  1. On 18th July 2018 the First Minister phoned me at 13.05 to say that arbitration had been rejected and suggested that this was on the advice of the Law Officers. She urged me to submit a substantive rebuttal of the specific complaints against me, suggested that the general complaints already answered were of little consequence and would be dismissed, and then assured me that my submission would be judged fairly.

She told me I would receive a letter from the Permanent Secretary offering me further time to submit such a rebuttal which duly arrived later that day. As it turned out the rebuttal once submitted was given only cursory examination by the Investigating Officer in the course of a single day and she had already submitted her final report to the Permanent Secretary.

My view is now that it was believed that my submission of a rebuttal would weaken the case for Judicial Review (my involvement in rebutting the substance of the complaints being seen to cure the procedural unfairness) and that the First Minister’s phone call of 18th July 2018 and the Permanent Secretary’s letter of the same date suggesting that it was in my “interests” to submit a substantive response was designed to achieve that.

  1. In terms of the meetings with me, the only breaches of the Ministerial Code are the failure to inform civil servants timeously of the nature of the meetings.

  1. My view is that the First Minister should have informed the Permanent Secretary of the legal risks they were running and ensured a proper examination of the legal position and satisfied herself that her Government were acting lawfully.

  1. Further once the Judicial Review had commenced, and at the very latest by October 31st 2018 the Government and the First Minister knew of legal advice from external counsel (the First Minister consulted with counsel on 13th November) that on the balance of probability they would lose the Judicial Review and be found to have acted unlawfully.

Despite this the legal action was continued until early January 2019 and was only conceded after both Government external counsel threatened to resign from the case which they considered to be unstateable. This, on any reading, is contrary to section 2.30 of the Ministerial Code.

  1. Most seriously, Parliament has been repeatedly misled on a number of occasions about the nature of the meeting of 2nd April 2018.

  1. The First Minister told Parliament (see Official Report of 8th,10th & 17th January 2019) that she first learned of the complaints against me when I visited her home on 2nd April 2018. That is untrue and is a breach of the Ministerial Code.

The evidence from Mr Aberdein that he personally discussed the existence of the complaints, and summarised the substance of the complaints, with the First Minister in a pre arranged meeting in Parliament on 29th March 2018 arranged for that specific purpose cannot be reconciled with the position of the First Minister to Parliament.

The fact that Mr Aberdein learned of these complaints in early March 2018 from the Chief of Staff to the First Minister who thereafter arranged for the meeting between Mr Aberdein and the First Minister on 29th March to discuss them, is supported by his sharing that information contemporaneously with myself, Kevin Pringle and Duncan Hamilton, Advocate.

Part Four

  1. In her written submission to the Committee, the First Minister has subsequently admitted to that meeting on 29th March 2018, claiming to have previously ‘forgotten’ about it. That is, with respect, untenable.

The pre-arranged meeting in the Scottish Parliament of 29th March 2018 was “forgotten” about because acknowledging it would have rendered ridiculous the claim made by the First Minister in Parliament that it had been believed that the meeting on 2nd April was on SNP Party business (Official Report 8th & 10th January 2019) and thus held at her private residence.

In reality all participants in that meeting were fully aware of what the meeting was about and why it had been arranged. The meeting took place with a shared understanding of the issues for discussion – the complaints made and the Scottish Government procedure which had been launched.

The First Minister’s claim that it was ever thought to be about anything other than the complaints made against me is wholly false.

The failure to account for the meeting on 29th March 2018 when making a statement to Parliament, and thereafter failing to correct that false representation, is a further breach of the Ministerial Code.

Further, the repeated representation to the Parliament of the meeting on the 2nd April 2018 as being a ‘party’ meeting because it proceeded in ignorance of the complaints is false and manifestly untrue. The meeting on 2nd April 2018 was arranged as a direct consequence of the prior meeting about the complaints held in the Scottish Parliament on 29th March 2018.

  1. The First Minister additionally informed Parliament (Official Report 10th January 2018) that ‘I did not know how the Scottish Government was dealing with the complaint, I did not know how the Scottish Government intended to deal with the complaint and I did not make any effort to find out how the Scottish Government was dealing with the complaint or to intervene in how the Scottish Government was dealing with the complaint.’

I would contrast that position with the factual position at paragraphs 20 and 27 above. The First Minister’s position on this is simply untrue. She did initially offer to intervene, in the presence of all those at the First Minister’s house on the 2nd April 2018.

Moreover, she did engage in following the process of the complaint and indeed reported the status of that process to me personally.

  1. I also believe it should be investigated further in terms of the Ministerial Code, whether the criminal leak of part of the contents of the Permanent Secretary’s Decision report to the Daily Record was sourced from the First Minister’s Office.

We now know from a statement made by the Daily Record editor that they received a document. I enclose at Appendix B the summary of the ICO review of the complaint which explains the criminal nature of the leak and the identification of 23 possible staff sources of the leak given that the Prosecutor has “sympathy with the hypothesis that the leak came from an employee of the Scottish Government”.

My reasoning is as follows. The leak did not come from me, or anyone representing me. In fact I sought interdict to prevent publication and damage to my reputation. The leak is very unlikely indeed to have come from either of the two complainers.

The Chief Constable, correctly, refused to accept a copy of the report when it was offered to Police Scotland on August 21st 2018 by the Crown Agent. It cannot, therefore have leaked from Police Scotland.

Scottish Government officials had not leaked the fact of an investigation from January when it started.

The only additional group of people to have received such a document, or summary of such a document, in the week prior to publication in the Daily Record was the First Minister’s Office as indicated in paragraph 4.8 of the ICO Prosecutor’s Report. In that office, the document would be accessed by the First Minister and her Special Advisers.

I would be happy to offer further information on this submission.

Belgium gave pharmacists 15 million TOXIC Covid facemasks that can cause pneumonia, health chiefs fear

Health concerns over 15 million masks provided to pharmacists in Belgium

The masks contain silver and titanium dioxide which could prove harmful

Sciensano has responded by saying its too early to draw any conclusions

Health chiefs in Belgium are concerned that 15 million fabric masks given to pharmacists may be toxic and cause pneumonia.

According to a preliminary report carried out by Sciensano, the Belgian Institute for Public Health, the masks contain nanoparticles of silver and titanium dioxide that when inhaled could damage the respiratory tract.

The face masks were made in Asia by Luxembourg-based company Avrox.

Two toxicologists warned that those who wear the masks could develop pneumonia, according to a report in Dutch-language newspaper HLN.

The nanoparticles of silver and titanium dioxide are used to whiten the fabric of the face masks.

'Sooner or later you can ingest these nanoparticles, especially if the mask is washed and worn regularly.

'They can easily end up in the lungs and blood,' toxicologist Alfred Bernard said.

Sciensano released a press statement after the results of the report were leaked, saying that they should be interpreted with caution as it was only the 'first phase' of the study.

'These are the first results of the first phase of a study and it is important to interpret them with caution.

'Based on the current data, it cannot be determined whether these nanoparticles actually come out of the masks and to what extent the users are exposed to them.'

UK looks set to embrace World Economic Forum's idea of immunity passports

The system they said would never happen appears to be arriving soon.

“Don’t forget your passport,” the World Economic Forum recently tweeted - promoting the idea of people having to show documentation to enter gyms, restaurants, and bars.

One country that likes the sound of the idea is the United Kingdom.

UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson hinted that Brits might require vaccine passports domestically, to access public venues such as pubs and theaters. The UK government has previously adamantly denied it was working on the so-called vaccine passports.

France considers slowing vaccine rollout for hospital staff, with many unable to work following jab

2-22-21

In the university hospital of Brest in Brittany, during the first week of the vaccine rollout, 20 to 25 percent of the recipients of the vaccine had to stop work because of influenza symptoms including bad headaches, high fever and sore muscles

Analysis:

February 22, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – The AstraZeneca experimental COVID-19 vaccine currently being given to health workers in France has caused so many side-effects that the French vaccination task force (Conseil d’orientation de la stratégie vaccinale) has recommended “a staggering of the vaccination schedule for people working in the same care unit” as well as “the systematic intake of paracetamol just before the injection and in the two following days.”…..

“The older a person is, the slower the immune system’s response to the vaccine, so by default, older people develop fewer side effects from the vaccine because their immune system reacts too weakly,” explained Eric Billy. Inversely, he said, younger people have a “very reactive immune system, and it’s rather reassuring that there are these kinds of side effects, it shows that there is an immune response.” If the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine, for example, were in turn administered to much younger people than at present, the side effects would also probably be more intense than those currently seen, he argued: “It’s not as if 10 percent of vaccinations were followed by hospitalization.” He simply recommended staggering administration of the vaccine in order to avoid practical issues.

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy found guilty of corruption and sentenced to one year in prison

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was found guilty of corruption and influence peddling by a Paris court Monday and was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence. Sarkozy served as president from 2007 to 2012 and was convicted over attempts to illegally obtain information from a senior magistrate regarding a lawsuit involving the former leader. The 66-year-old politician was told he would be entitled to request being detained in-home with an electronic bracelet.

Last year, Sarkozy denied any allegations against him during a 10-day trial over his charges. He stands as the first former president in France's modern history to have gone to trial for corruption. Sarkozy will endure an additional trial later this month, with 13 others, facing charges of illegal financing his 2012 presidential campaign. Sarkozy's conservative party is suspected by prosecutors of spending 42.8 million euros ($50.7 million) to finance his campaign, reportedly nearly twice the authorized spending amount. A separate investigation opened accuses the former president of taking millions from the late-Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi to finance his 2007 campaign. He was detained by police over the matter in 2018.

Chinese envoy defends ‘panda huggers’ and blames media over ‘totally ridiculous’ concerns

WILL GLASGOW - MARCH 2, 2021

A senior Chinese diplomat in Canberra has blamed the Australian media and “totally ridiculous” security concerns for the breakdown in Australia’s relationship with China.

Addressing an audience of business people at a Chinese Lunar New Year dinner, China’s deputy head of mission Wang Xining said the rising power would remember who was on its side during the bilateral dispute.

“History will prove that it is wise and visionary to be China’s friends,” said Minister Xining in the first lengthy address given by China’s embassy in Canberra since he spoke at the National Press Club six months ago

Mr Wang also delivered a warning to those “people in Australia [who] choose to make enemies to sustain a living”.

“Those who deliberately vilify China and sabotage the friendship between our two countries … will be [cast] aside in history,” he said.

“Their children will be ashamed of mentioning their names,” he said, according to a transcript of the speech posted on the Embassy’s website.

The combative speech – given on Thursday night at Ruby Chinese, a restaurant in Dickson that was once owned by the father of movie star Jackie Chan – is the latest public intervention by China’s Canberra embassy since the already strained bilateral relationship spiralled to historic depths last April after the Morrison government called for an inquiry into the origins of the coronavirus without forewarning their Chinese counterparts.

Weeks after Foreign Minister Marise Payne first called for the inquiry on the ABC’s Insiders show, China’s ambassador Cheng Jingye gave an interview in which he warned of a boycott of Australian beef, wine and universities.

‘Rift will hurt millions’

In late August — by which time Beijing had imposed a crippling 80 per cent tariff on Australian barley exports to China, suspended multiple beef abattoirs and threatened huge tariffs for Australian wine – Minister Wang gave a relatively conciliatory speech about the frayed relationship, which he compared to marriage.

“While a rift between husband and wife hurts one family, a rift between two countries will hurt millions,” he said in August.

The next day, the Morrison government revealed legislation that allowed the federal government to rescind Victoria’s Belt and Road deal.

In November, diplomats at China’s embassy in Canberra circulated a list of 14 grievances with Australia, which included restrictions on Chinese investment, the ban on Huawei’s involvement in the 5G network and investigations into foreign interference.

By the end of 2020, more than $20b of annual Australian exports to China — over 10 per cent of the total — had been banned or interfered.

Minister Wang’s latest speech — titled “It Is So Difficult to be China‘s Friends in Australia Today” — was given at a dinner held by the ACT branch of the Australian China Business Council.

The Chinese diplomat said many of the business association’s members understood his country better than most Australians.

“Maybe you don’t fully agree with our model of governance and administration, but at least you respect and understand the reason behind our development path and model of governance.”

Media blamed for bad sentiment

Minister Wang said much of the bad sentiment in Australia towards China was the media’s fault.

“If these people are immersed by those negative portraits of China by the major media outlets and brainwashed by the vulgarised and simplified political slogans, how would they understand China and agree with your assessment and impression of China.”

He said it was now a “really difficult time to be China’s friend in Australia”.

“Currently, the friends of China are given a nickname ‘panda-hugger’. It used to be a word of appreciation but now it carries derogatory meanings. It seems that being friendly to China, to be a friend of China becomes a sin and mistake in Australia.”

In addition to the media, Minister Wang said the bilateral relationship had been undermined by the suspicions of “a small number of people”, who he did not name.

“The excuse for such suspicion is China’s threats to Australian sovereignty and security, which is totally ridiculous. Because up to today no one single case has been substantiated or supported by evidence,” he said.

“And based on my observation, most of those people are siphoning off Australia’s financial coffer, and they squander on the cornucopia which is the hard-won product of the majority of Australian labour force.”

“When these people were barking loud, our friends had to bite the bullet,” he added.
