White House Lawyers Tell Trump He’ll Spark a Mueller 2.0 if He Fires Wray

The White House Counsel’s office has advised President Trump against firing FBI Director Christopher Wray, warning of potential legal consequences for the move, NBC News reported.

 

Administration lawyers reportedly told the president the move would make explicit that he expected the personal loyalty of anyone appointed to the position, adding that it could create a ripple effect similar to the 2017 dismissal of former FBI Director James Comey, which led to the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller.

 

White House Counsel Pat Cipollone and other White House attorneys have also told the president the firing would likely be viewed as retaliation for Wray’s failure to announce investigations the president has called for into his political enemies, according to NBC News.

WASHINGTON β€” President Donald Trump has come so close to firing FBI Director Christopher Wray in recent months that the White House counsel’s office has warned him not to do so because it could put him in potential legal jeopardy, according to a senior administration official with direct knowledge of the discussion and a U.S. official familiar with the discussion.

 

White House lawyers β€œstrongly” advised Trump against firing another FBI director out of concern that doing so would risk creating the perception that a β€œloyalty test” was being imposed on a position that traditionally has maintained independence from the White House, according to the senior administration official.

 

The lawyers, led by White House counsel Pat Cipollone, specifically said that firing Wray could spark legal issues similar to those raised after Trump ousted James Comey as FBI director in 2017 in the midst of the Russia investigation, the officials said.

 

Their concern was that firing Wray could be seen as retaliation because the president has publicly pressured him to take specific actions on certain investigations β€” such as announcing a probe into President-elect Joe Biden’s son β€” and then expressed frustration that Wray has not followed his suggestions.

 

The White House declined to comment on the president’s current thinking about firing members of his administration. β€œIf the president doesn’t have confidence in someone he will let you know,” White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement. β€œWe have no personnel announcements at this time.”

The victims of sex trafficking operation Girls Do Pornclaim that Mindgeek, Pornhub's parent company, is responsible for upending their lives.

 

Forty victims of sex trafficking operation Girls Do Porn have filed a lawsuit against Mindgeek, Pornhub's parent company, for a litany of accusations, including knowingly benefiting from Girls Do Porn videos on Pornhub and failing to moderate the images circulating rampantly on its network of tube sites.

 

In total, the lawsuit is demanding more than $40 million in damagesβ€”at least $1 million per plaintiffβ€”as well as the money Mindgeek earned from hosting and promoting their videos and legal fees.

 

"As a proximate result of MindGeek’s knowing financial benefit and participation in GirlsDoPorn’s sex trafficking venture, Plaintiffs have suffered damages, including, but not limited to, severe emotional distress, significant trauma, attempted suicide, and social and familial ostracization," the complaint states.

 

Filed with the United States District Court for the Southern District of California on December 15 by attorneys Brian Holm and John O'Brien, the 43-page complaint details the suffering of these alleged victims of Girls Do Porn, and claims that each of the 40 plaintiffs became suicidal because of the harassment they endured when their videos spread non-consensually across the internet, including across Mindgeek's network of porn sites.

 

Girls Do Porn was a sex trafficking operation that forced and coerced dozens of women as young as 18 into sex on camera, and lied to them about where and how the videos would be distributed. The women were told by everyone involved, from cast and crew to the owner, that the videos would not appear online. After filming, their videos were uploaded to Girls Do Porn's own site, as well as Pornhub, where the Girls Do Porn monetized its videos as a Pornhub "content partner." Pornhub also promoted Girls Do Porn as a content partner even after women in Girls Do Porn videos came forward about abuse and sued it.

 

The complaint claims that as early as 2009, "and definitely by fall 2016," Mindgeek knew Girls Do Porn was coercing and intimidating models into having sex on camera. It also places much of the blame for the victims' harm on Mindgeek, presenting several claims from models themselves that Pornhub failed to take down videos, even when they reported the videos to Pornhub and pleaded with the company to remove them.

 

One of the Jane Doe plaintiffs alleges that she contacted Pornhub through its video takedown portal. "Im going to kill myself if this stays up here," she claims to have written in that portal. The news comes days after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said they would monitor recipients of Pfizer's vaccine but found "no known or expected causal relationship between the vaccine and Bell's palsy" on Dec. 11. "Post authorization safety and effectiveness studies will be critical as well. Specifically, surveillance for Bell's palsy could help determine any possible causal relationship," Sara Oliver, MD, an officer at the CDC, said during the agency's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) panel that made the announcement.

Canadian citizen indicted in Brownsville for sending powder-filled envelopes to local authorities

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – A Brownsville federal grand jury has indicted a Canadian woman for prohibitions with respect to biological weapons and making threats via interstate commerce, announced U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick along with Special Agent in Charge Christopher Combs of the FBI.

 

Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier aka Jane Ferrier, 53, is currently in custody in Washington, D.C., on separate, but similar charges. She is expected to make her initial appearance in Brownsville at a future date.

 

The grand jury returned the indictment yesterday charging Ferrier with eight counts each of prohibitions with respect to biological weapons and making threats via interstate commerce.

 

Between Sept. 14-21, Ferrier allegedly sent envelopes containing letters and a powdery substance to multiple local agencies. These included the El Valle Detention Facility, Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center, Brooks County Detention Center, Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Brooks County Sheriff’s Office and Mission Police Department, according to the charges.

 

The substance sent is alleged to be Ricin.

 

If convicted, Ferrier faces up to life for the biological weapons charges, while threats via interstate commerce carries a potential five-year sentence. Both convictions also carry a maximum $250,000 possible fine.

This is why I won’t yet act.

Unfortunately for me, the crisis has come either too late or too early. Our family has four young children, a single income, and a base of assets which could be easily lost but probably never replaced. We are maximally vulnerable to the sorts of attacks which collectivists bring against those who fight back.

 

Even so, if the fight were on, if the majority of Americans who this past election shows are opposed to creeping collectivism were on the march, I would risk it all to join them. As open struggle against collectivism, communism, authoritarianism, and globalism rises, both of these positions will weaken, and support for freedom will grow.

Today was historic. In a show of protest, Republican presidential electors in Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, and New Mexico cast procedural votes for Donald Trump. At the same time in those states, Democrat electors cast state-sanctioned electoral ballots for Joe Biden.

 

The GOP electors’ protest vote preserves President Trump’s ability to continue his legal battles and puts us on a path for what could be an epic showdown during a Joint Session of Congress next year.

 

First, a few basic facts: states will send their electoral ballots to Washington over the next few weeks. Congress must, through a Joint Session, certify those ballots and determine who won the election. Regardless of media reports, there is no β€œPresident-Elect” until the people’s representatives β€” the Congress β€” says so by certifying the winner.

 

The Joint Session of Congress begins with the President of the US Senate reading the states’ electors into the record.

 

Who is the President of the US Senate? Vice President Mike Pence.

 

Some legal scholars have argued that where there are disputes over electors, the vice president has the legal authority to read into the record that slate of electors, which he believes is true and correct.

 

On the other hand, different legal scholars have said the vice president has no such power and may only read the slate of electors transmitted to the Congress by state officials.

 

Which one of these positions is correct? We don’t have a definitive answer. The US Supreme Court has never needed to address the question, but Trump may force the issue in 2021.

 

The question of whether Vice President Mike Pence could read the GOP electors into the record is an open question of law. As it stands, it’s at least theoretically possible that he could.
