It was one of the most decisive moments in recent history for Fox News. And it has proven to be one of its most controversial.

There has been rampant speculation about who made the call, which Arizonans testify was made while voters were still in line in an extraordinarily tight race.

 

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey himself castigated the network for making the early call.

 

β€œIt’s far too early to call the election in Arizona,” Ducey wrote. β€œElection Day votes are not fully reported, and we haven’t even started to count early ballots dropped off at the polls. In AZ, we protected Election Day. Let’s count the votes β€” all the votes β€” before making declarations.”

 

Trump adviser Jason Miller also ripped the network over the call.

 

β€œFox News is a complete outlier in calling Arizona, and other media outlets should not follow suit,” Miller wrote. β€œThere are still 1M+ Election Day votes out there waiting to be counted – we pushed our people to vote on Election Day, but now Fox News is trying to invalidate their votes!”

 

β€œWe only need 61% of the outstanding, uncounted Election Day votes in Arizona to win. These votes are coming from β€œour counties,” and the 61% figure is very doable based on what our other Election Day votes are looking like,” he added. β€œFoxNews should retract their call immediately.”

 

Business Insider now reports that in Michael Wolff’s forthcoming book, Landslide there is a scene where Lachlan Murdoch got a call from Fox’s election desk about calling Arizona. The following is directly from the Business Insider report.

 

The book [notes] that the Murdochsβ€”who spearhead a vast right-wing media empireβ€”had β€œevery reason” to delay calling Arizona at the time, given Fox’s steadfast allegiance to Trump and the fact that no other network had made the call yet. β€œLachlan got his father on the phone to ask if he wanted to make the early call. His father, with signature grunt, assented, adding, β€˜Fβ€” him,’” Wolff wrote. The book [says] that Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer then called Trump’s lead social media strategist,Jason Miller, to let him know the network was going to call Arizona for Biden. β€œMiller involuntarily rose from his seat. β€˜What the fβ€”?’ he said out loud, looking around and seeing the still-merry and untroubled faces in the Map Room”…Wolff wrote. Hemmer reportedly replied: β€œThat’s what they’re doing. That’s what they’re going with.”

 

β€œWho?” Miller asked.

 

β€œThe election desk,” Hemmer said, adding that the network’s decision was going to be aired imminently. The decision to call Arizona for Biden was a pivotal moment on election night, indicating the Democrat was poised to win the traditionally Republican-leaning state and complicating Trump’s ability to declare an early victory in the overall race.

 

Rupert Murdoch thus personally made the decision to allow Fox News to call Arizona for Joe Biden in the 2020 election, according to the forthcoming book.

The state was competitive at the time of the call. Arizona had not voted for a Democratic president since Bill Clinton in 1996.

 

The fallout from the Arizona election is still ongoing, as an independent audit has provoked tremendous controversy. But at least Americans now know who ultimately made the call that Arizona went to Biden.

A weird thing happened right after the Nov. 3 election: nothing.

 

The nation was braced for chaos. Liberal groups had vowed to take to the streets, planning hundreds of protests across the country. Right-wing militias were girding for battle. In a poll before Election Day, 75% of Americans voiced concern about violence.

 

Instead, an eerie quiet descended. As President Trump refused to concede, the response was not mass action but crickets. When media organizations called the race for Joe Biden on Nov. 7, jubilation broke out instead, as people thronged cities across the U.S. to celebrate the democratic process that resulted in Trump’s ouster.

 

A second odd thing happened amid Trump’s attempts to reverse the result: corporate America turned on him. Hundreds of major business leaders, many of whom had backed Trump’s candidacy and supported his policies, called on him to concede. To the President, something felt amiss. β€œIt was all very, very strange,” Trump said on Dec. 2. β€œWithin days after the election, we witnessed an orchestrated effort to anoint the winner, even while many key states were still being counted.”

 

In a way, Trump was right.

 

There was a conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs. Both surprises were the result of an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans. The pact was formalized in a terse, little-noticed joint statement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AFL-CIO published on Election Day. Both sides would come to see it as a sort of implicit bargain–inspired by the summer’s massive, sometimes destructive racial-justice protests–in which the forces of labor came together with the forces of capital to keep the peace and oppose Trump’s assault on democracy.

 

The handshake between business and labor was just one component of a vast, cross-partisan campaign to protect the election–an extraordinary shadow effort dedicated not to winning the vote but to ensuring it would be free and fair, credible and uncorrupted. For more than a year, a loosely organized coalition of operatives scrambled to shore up America’s institutions as they came under simultaneous attack from a remorseless pandemic and an autocratically inclined President. Though much of this activity took place on the left, it was separate from the Biden campaign and crossed ideological lines, with crucial contributions by nonpartisan and conservative actors. The scenario the shadow campaigners were desperate to stop was not a Trump victory. It was an election so calamitous that no result could be discerned at all, a failure of the central act of democratic self-governance that has been a hallmark of America since its founding.

 

Their work touched every aspect of the election. They got states to change voting systems and laws and helped secure hundreds of millions in public and private funding. They fended off voter-suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers and got millions of people to vote by mail for the first time. They successfully pressured social media companies to take a harder line against disinformation and used data-driven strategies to fight viral smears. They executed national public-awareness campaigns that helped Americans understand how the vote count would unfold over days or weeks, preventing Trump’s conspiracy theories and false claims of victory from getting more traction. After Election Day, they monitored every pressure point to ensure that Trump could not overturn the result. β€œThe untold story of the election is the thousands of people of both parties who accomplished the triumph of American democracy at its very foundation,” says Norm Eisen, a prominent lawyer and former Obama Administration official who recruited Republicans and Democrats to the board of the Voter Protection Program…….

From 3,000 COVID-positive patients under his care, Zelenko identified 1,000 as β€œhigh risk” with whom his HCQ- and zinc-based medical intervention β€œreduced the death rate from 7.5 percent, to less than half a percent.”

β€œOut of the 600,000 dead Americans that we have, we could have prevented 510,000 from going to the hospital and dying.”

The real measure of Justice Amy Coney Barrett will come in the next year

 

The knee-jerk reaction to Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s first term was that she was less conservative than some had hoped and others had feared.

 

But those judgments are likely to be premature, because the real tests for Barrett will come over the next year, in her second term as a justice.

 

The 49-year-old Barrett, for example, was lampooned by Democrats as a threat to health care during her confirmation hearings last year, but then ruled against a challenge to the Affordable Care Act in this year’s term.

 

Barrett is likely to be a crucial and possibly a deciding vote on two huge cases on hot-button culture war issues: abortion and guns. How she rules on those cases will illustrate the kind of justice she is and will be, and could end up becoming an enormous part of her legacy and the court’s.

 

The abortion case is Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. At issue is a law passed by the Mississippi Legislature in 2018 that banned most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. A federal court found the law unconstitutional, because Supreme Court jurisprudence prohibits bans on abortion before a fetus is viable outside the womb, which is considered to be at around 24 weeks of pregnancy.

 

The Supreme Court could uphold the lower court’s ruling, but most observers think that’s unlikely. Some also believe it is unlikely to throw out Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that legalized abortion, and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the 1992 ruling that upheld a constitutional right to abortion.

 

The middle ground would be for the court to get rid of the viability threshold, allowing states to enact bans on most abortions prior to 24 weeks of pregnancy, but to replace it with a different standard.

 

This is where politics comes into play.

 

The three most conservative justices β€” Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch β€” are all considered likely to throw out Roe v. Wade if the opportunity were presented to them. The three liberal justices β€” Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor β€” would keep it in place. But the three others β€” Barrett, Chief Justice John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh β€” constitute a swing bloc of sorts that controls who gets a majority of votes.

This updated evidence shows over 10,300 people voted in a GA county they no longer lived in. These are illegal votes according to Georgia law and nearly Trump’s loss margin of 12,670 votes. This list is growing as more people update their GA voter registration file with their new address.

 

Under Georgia law residents must vote in the county where they live, unless they move within 30 days of the election. So if you moved in October 3rd 2020 or earlier, you were required to vote in the county of your new address. Mark Davis, the president of Data Productions, Inc. is an expert in voter data analytics and residency issues. The actor discusses the time he met Manson in his newly released memoir, Trejo.

 

According to Trejo, the encounter occurred in 1968, a year before the Manson Family murders.

 

In his memoir, Trejo doesn’t immediately reveal Manson’s identity, describing him first as β€œa greasy, dirty, scrawny white boy”.

 

Manson, he said, told Trejo and his cell mates that he could hypnotise them into thinking they were high on weed and heroin.

US Olympic swim star reveals he is not vaccinated

A U.S. Olympic swimming star announced Thursday that he's not vaccinated against the coronavirus.

 

Michael Andrew, who is slated to compete for the United States in multiple swimming events at the Tokyo Olympics, made the revelation Thursday during a Zoom with USA Today Sports.

 

"I am not fully vaccinated, I'm not vaccinated," Andrew, 22, said. "My reason behind it is, for one, it was kind of a last moment,I didn't want to put anything in my body that I didn't know how I would potentially react to. Each of the people I’ve profiled in my Gain-of-Function Hall of Shame series is complicit in the hunting and manipulation of bat coronaviruses that likely resulted in an industrial accident (or worse) causing SARS-CoV-2 to emerge in the vicinity of the Wuhan Institute of Virology in late 2019.

 

However, recent sleuthing suggests that, while they are indeed the likely suspects, they may also be a carefully chosen group of spokespersons and poster-scientists whose job it is to take the flak for this deadly mistake threatening the multi-billion-dollar emerging infectious disease industry and its gain-of-function research on potential pandemic pathogens.

 

Peter Daszak made news this week with an addendum to his infamous February 2020 Lancet letter. In the addendum, he finally listed his many conflicts of interests that compromised his roles as Wuhan Institute of Virology funder and collaborator, spokesperson for the anti-lab-leak-hypothesis camp, and COVID origins investigator.

 

What he failed to mention is his long-standing and ongoing relationship with Google.

continued - the plot to the minority report

In the short story, protagonist John Allison Anderton is the inventor of a new criminal justice system, dubbed Precrime. The system harnesses the telepathic powers of three mutant β€œprecogs” that have the ability to see the future and predict crimes before they occur. Would-be criminals are arrested up to a week before their crimes would have been committed, and sent to detention camps. The efficiency of the system has led to a dramatic decrease in felonies of over 99%, with only one murder taking place in the previous five years. Anderton acknowledges the inherent paradox of a system wherein criminals are arrested before a crime has been committed, which means that technically they are innocent of the crime they are arrested for; however, he does not seem at all bothered by the technicality. The story begins as aging Police Commissioner Anderton meets his eventual successor, Edward Witwer. While leading Witwer on a tour of the Precrime systems, Anderton checks the names of the most recently predicted criminals, and slips one of the cards into his pocket. It is revealed that Anderton’s own name has come up on the card, and it predicts that he will commit a murder.

 

Anderton is convinced that he is being framed by Witwer, who is after his job even though Anderton is not prepared to retire. He tells his young wife, Lisa, of the existence of the card, and plans to go on the run. A series of checks and balances ensures that there are two copies of every report generated by the precogs: one left in the hands of the police, and one delivered to the army, in order to stave off corruption. Thus, it is impossible for Anderton to access both copies of the report before they are seen. He must go into hiding in order to prove he was somehow framed, which he knows must be the case since he has never met his supposed victim, Leopold Kaplan.

While he is packing to flee, Anderton is removed from his apartment by men with guns, but instead of being taken back to police quarters, he is driven to meet a well-dressed elderly man. The man turns out to be Kaplan, who demands to know why Anderton would kill someone he doesn’t know. Anderton professes his innocence, but Kaplan decides to have him taken to the police anyway, as a safety precaution. As he is being transported back, a violent traffic accident organized by a mysterious man calling himself Fleming allows Anderton to escape. While hiding out, Anderton hears a news report about his case and is reminded of the existence of the minority report, which he decides he must access in order to prove his innocence. Occasionally, the precogs do not all predict the same outcome of future events, and when one has a report that conflicts with the other two, a record of the discrepancy is kept as the minority report. Anderton contacts his former co-worker Page to get into police headquarters unnoticed. His listens to the minority report, which reveals that Anderton would change his mind about murdering Kaplan once he saw his name on the ticket. Anderton makes a copy of the tape and is reluctantly helped out of the building by his wife.
