Greetings anons
Just a brief message for now.
Becoming BO was unexpected so bear with me, please.
QRESEARCH has been through a lot. Still standing, despite everything. Congrats to all who remain – this is the core of the core.
QR is not the same board it was two years ago. Needs some restoration but not overnight. If anons have suggestions, post here, but concrete suggestions are best put in META (not baker meta), so it's all in one place. Shilly stuff will be deleted.

BOARD REPORTS. Caught up with them & recent anon ban appeals. Unbanned all anons banned "for no reason."

BVs REMOVED. Board logs showed that only one BV has been active in the last five weeks and all he did was ban for no reason. Don't think I have to explain why removed.

NEW BV's. All active participants on this board for years. Responsible anons who have proven their worth many times over.
Goal
Q asked in Oct 2020 asking us to clean up the ship.
This can and will be done. It will take time so plz be patient.
Unbans

How to Report Illegal Content like CP
This is pedo bear -
post is all over, especially hidden away in side threads.
''Please keep your eye out and do a Global Report if you see it.''
Could use many more "EYEZ ON" for CP like this. Otherwise can be used to shut down graphics permanently or even the entire site 8.
Any anons who have the time, you could do the board a HUGE favor simply by periodically checking the latest posts in open side threads.
HOW TO REPORT CP:

For reason, write "cp" or "dost"

Local or global volunteers will get the report and delete the post.

How to to get unbanned:
Send request in a post together with a screencap of the Ban notice, it has the info needed for releasing the IP hash. I don't know whether all requests will be honored but check it out.
Technical questions:
Post your comments or queries in the Tech Questions thread. BO Vim will monitor questions. He may be able to help with technical issues that don't really require 8kun admin-level assistance.
BO on signed-in baker's authority and responsibilities; also, avoid bake stealing
I got a shitload to do as BO, don't want to focus mostly on baker squabbles.
But seems to be that case that the signed in e-baker doesn't want to note, so another baker who's not signed in feels justified in stealing the bake - and got his baker locked by BV.
Have i got that right?
Here's what i'd say so far:

When bakers are signed in, they are signed in. That matters.

Some bakers like to notable, others do not. One reason is long bread with many notables, a situation we are trying remedy - see >>15449227

It is MUCH BETTER for bakers to notable - that is (or should be) the NORM, not the exception.
If there is a baker who will notable, it would be better is the baker who cannot or will not notable to HANDOFF to baker who WILL.
For obvious reasons: it is BEST for the BOARD.
AS BO, WOULD STRONGLY ENCOURAGE THIS COURSE OF ACTION.
Could become a policy, but needs discussion - in META thread.
RIGHT NOW, by tradition, signed in baker has authority.
if e-baker will not take notes, wny doesn't the baker who WILL notable simply volunteer to take notes? He may not like that, but it would be helpful.
CURRENT E-BAKER (gerbil?):
if you can't take notes and another baker can, if it's not oss, PLEASE HANDOFF.
We don't have a policy on this but probably need one.
Right now, am just asking for your cooperation to make this board function well.

Understand your frustration but if you try to steal the dough from the signed in baker, BVs will not allow it if present - because we need to follow the chain of custody for avoid more anarchy on this board.

Recommended Baking Protocols
For a long time, it's often been unclear WHO has the dough, if anyone. Easily fixed by baking protocols:
When there is an e-bake, e-baker is STILL PRESUMED TO BE THE BAKER
unless he says something like
Baker requires handoff
Ghosting @50
A baker steps up with
Can bake
followed by a formal handoff:
Handoff confirmed?(from ebaker)
Confirmed, i got the bread(from new baker
Acknowledged(from ebaker)
Then it's EASY for EVERYONE to see who has the bake.
These protocols work when used consistently.
Use protocols also for alerting anons when you must leave:
Baker requires handoff @400, any bakers in the house?
or
Baker seeks handoff next bread
That way, we are COVERED from bread to bread.
Always link to DOUGH post and NOTABLES updates.

Progress Report on Recent Updates
QR Past
QR has been in the hands of FastJack for almost 3 years.
At best, his leadership was benignly neglectful.
At worst, it has been diametrically opposed to the goals and values espoused by Q.
When OSS arrived after refplatformig, the two joined forces to kill the kitchen, which almost destroyed the QR board.
ALMOST- but not quite.
Because against all odds, anons refused to let this board die.
Despite the chaos, the bans, the attacks, and the incredibly crappy doughs, they carried on.
AND STILL CARRY ON.
Eventually, the level of incompetance became unsustainable -
FJ plain forget to check into the board for almost 3 weeks, all the BVs except OSS left, and all OSS did was ban anons on a whim.
That is how they lost "their" board.
QR Now
News admin has been in place for 12 days.
Had to scramble at first, because this situation was not anticipated.
But here is what has been done so far -

all bans made for no reason for the last 17 weeks have been lifted by 8kun admin

a board is being set up that will allow anons to request ban lists for earlier dates

the same board has a thread for bug fixes and other technical issues noticed by anons

the catalog has been cleaned and updated; BVs monitor daily

staff is monitoring bakes to help alert bakers to wrong breads numbers or split bakes
-
staff locks breads in favor of signed in baker, unless it is OSS
-
Staff has banned OSS from baking and made his notes subject to editing by anons/bakers
-
New threads are under development for newfags, new bakers, and diggers doing research
-
Working on an in-house pastebin/control C that is powerfull, secure and easy o uuse.

Anons alerted to heavy CP presence and asked to actively look for it and make global reports
QR Goals
Overall: to create a board that "neat and tidy" for Q
Whether or not Q returns to post, the board should be a place that supports the honors the work)

Promote greater anon awareness and responsibility

Support bakers and build a good working relationship with them

Work with agreegators like Qresear.ch so we know how to "feed" their sutsl

Ensure that CP is detected early and cleaned up right away

Develop policies (like content policies) that allow for the great possible freedom of expression but that also make is harder for for shills to attack w/impunity

Four major roles for admins:
1- keep board/breads neat and tidy
2 - provide resources or links to support the work
3 - to develops policies and rules of thumb that support out work
4 - to help anons to be more aware of what goes on here (situational awarenss)

Updated Quik Pic "How to Bake" Info
Most of the old Quik Pic series was made before deplatforming, when we were still using pastebin.com for pastes (now they censor, n/a).
Updated to include controlc.com and fullchan.net as pastbin alternatives.
Also info on how to deal with PER POST CAPTCHAS removed!!
