I don't disagree with your statement anon but it is the lower and upper chambers that have the authority. Not the VP. As to whether either or both chambers adjourned to take up the objections? I don't know for a fact that they did. I am assuming that Pence, as the President of the Senate and presiding officer would be the one to direct the adjournment. I don't know that he did that either. But it is quite clear that it is both chambers that decide whether to acccept the contested electoral votes or not. Not the VP.

Anon, the law does not state that nor does the 12th Amendment. Having read through all of this shit, the Electoral Vote Count statute, the 12th Amendment, the Texas lawsuit, Louie Goemert's brief in support and John Eastman's lawsuit, no where is there any wording that gives the VP the authoirity to reject electoral votes.
