I guess the real question would be; why do muhjoos show up in the middle of the night when everyone has gone to sleep? What purpose do they serve spamming a board no one will pay attention to for hours? They don't even feel like they're here to convince anyone, just talk long enough to keep things going until the organic traffic starts again. Biden Administration Quietly Raised Amount of Ethanol Required in Gasoline from Ten Percent to Fifteen, Three Predictable Problems Will Surface Soon

 

Last Friday the Biden administration raised the mandatory amount of biofuel, specifically ethanol, that must be blended within the U.S. gasoline supply. The previous amount of 10% was raised to 15% by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This is likely to lead to two sets of bigger issues, less food and higher gas prices.

 

โ™ฆ First issue. โ€“ The Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) is a government mandate, passed in 2005 and expanded in 2007, that requires growing volumes of biofuels to be blended into U.S. transportation fuels like gasoline and diesel every year. Approximately 40 percent of corn grown in the U.S. is used for ethanol. Raising the amount of ethanol required in gasoline will result in the need for more biofuel (corn). With farming costs and outputs already under pressure this could be problematic.

 

โ™ฆ Second issue โ€“ The EPA enforces the biofuel standard by requiring refineries to submit purchase credits (known as Renewable Identification Numbers, or RINs) to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proving the purchases. This enforcement requirement sets up a system where the RIN credits are bought and sold by small refineries who do not have the infrastructure to do the blending process. They purchase second-hand RIN credits from parties that blended or imported biofuels directly. This sets up a secondary income stream, a trading market for the larger oil companies, refineries and importers.

 

The RIN credit trading platform is similar to what we might expect to see if the โ€˜Carbon Tradingโ€™ scheme was ever put into place. However, now that the biofuel requirements for blended gasoline have gone from 10% to 15%, the price of the RIN credits will likely jump. This will cost refineries billions in additional expenses,โ€ฆ. which will mean the cost of the gasoline from the refineries will increase,โ€ฆ.. which will mean the cost of the gasoline at the pump will go higher.

 

The EPA theory is that RIN credits should be expensive thereby forcing all oil refineries to invest in infrastructure that makes the blended fuel. All of the infrastructure from the refinery to the gas station would need to be modified to facilitate the new 15% RFS standard. Again, higher prices at the pumps as a result of oil companies and refineries needing to spend billions on upgrades. Which brings us to issue number three.

 

โ™ฆ Third Issue โ€“ โ€œEthanol is a valuable source of octane in finished gasoline, but it is chemically different than petroleum gasoline and cannot be used in concentrations above 10 percent in small engines โ€” like outboard boat motors, motorcycles, lawnmowers, generators or chain saws โ€” or in any cars made before 2001. Complicating matters further, most cars on the road today still arenโ€™t warrantied to run on gasoline with more than 10 percent ethanol. Retail stations also must have compatible infrastructure in order to sell gasoline with higher ethanol blends.โ€ This issue is known within the industry as โ€œThe Blend Wall.โ€

 

The net result of Joe Bidenโ€™s EPA raising the mandatory amount of biofuel that must be present in the U.S. gas supply is this:

(1) Less food as more corn is needed for ethanol.

(2) Higher prices for finished and blended gasoline.

(3) Vehicle engines breaking down at a much higher rate.

 

The predictable Biden outcome is the absolute worst scenario for the middle-class.

"Michael Avenatti, former attorney for adult actress Stormy Daniels, pleaded guilty to five criminal counts on Thursday in federal court.

 

During his Santa Ana, California, court hearing, the anti-Trump lawyer pleaded guilty to four charges of wire fraud related to defrauding clients, Fox News reported.

 

He also admitted to obstructing and impeding the Internal Revenue Service from collecting up to $5 million in unpaid taxes.

 

Although he was suspended by the California State Bar, Avenatti represented himself. He was unable to reach a deal with the prosecution before now, but Fox reported that he ultimately "decided to change his plea in an effort to hold himself accountable and avoid any further embarrassment to his family."

 

Avenatti offered to plead guilty to the charges last month.

 

He was already sentenced in June to four years in prison for defrauding Daniels.

 

Avenatti faces up to 83 years in prison for the crimes to which he pleaded guilty on Thursday.

 

Federal prosecutors are expected to announce next week whether they plan on pursuing 31 additional criminal charges against Avenatti.

 

If the government does not bring additional charges against the attorney, his sentencing is expected to be in mid-September.

 

Regardless, he will be forced to pay more than $1 million in fines and about $14 million in restitution, Fox reported. "

Cartel gunmen murdered two Jesuit priests who tried to protect another man from being killed in the Mexican border state of Chihuahua. The gunmen then stole the priestsโ€™ bodies.

 

The murder took place on Monday evening in Cerocahui, Chihuahua. According to the Jesuit Order in Mexico, a victim was running away from gunmen and sought refuge in a church. The two priests tried to intervene, but the gunmen killed all three.

Police Kill Intruder Trying to Forcefully Enter Alabama Elementary School

 

Police on Thursday fatally shot a man trying to forcefully enter an elementary school in Gadsen, Alabama.

 

The potential intruder went to several locked doors trying to get into Walnut Park Elementary School before police shot him dead, according to Gadsen City Schools Superintendent Tony Reddick.

 

And Joe Biden is opposed to โ€œhardening schoolsโ€ in the aftermath of the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

 

Republicans have pitched measures to beef up security at schools such as single point of entry, fencing, metal detectors and armed security.

 

Joe Biden and the Democrats are pushing back on the security proposals because their goal is to ban guns.

 

Responding police officers engaged the intruder before shooting him dead.

 

No children were harmed.

 

The identity of the intruder has not been released at the time of this publication.

A person who was trying to enter an Alabama elementary school where a summer program was being held was shot to death by a police officer Thursday morning, authorities said.

 

Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton told The Gadsden Times that a police officer from nearby Rainbow City was working as a school resource officer and encountered the person, got involved in an altercation and called for backup, Horton said. At least one other officer responded and the person was shot to death.

 

No students were hurt, sheriffโ€™s officials said. โ€œAll kids are outโ€ of the building, Reddick said, and most didnโ€™t even realize something had happened.

 

โ€œWe donโ€™t know the potential of what could have happened had those two officers not responded the way they did, so we very much commend them for that,โ€ Reddick said.

 

Authorities didnโ€™t immediately release the identity of the person who was killed or any details about the altercation, including whether the person who died was armed or why they might have been trying to get into the school.

Utah County: 120 Come Forward with Information in โ€˜Ritualistic Child Sexual Abuseโ€™ Investigation

 

An investigation into โ€œritualistic child sexual abuseโ€ has continued to turn heads after 120 victims and those who know victims have come forward, a Utah sheriff reported. A local prosecutor was reportedly named in the probe during a May 31 press conference, though the sheriffโ€™s office has not released names of potential victims or suspects.

 

The Utah County Sheriffโ€™s Department has asked for assistance in the investigation from the FBI, which it has received. โ€œItโ€™s common practice for the FBI to offer assistance, when requested, to our law enforcement partners. We are assisting, and so I will defer to the lead agency, which is the Utah County Sheriffโ€™s Office,โ€ said FBI spokeswoman Sandra Barker.

 

โ€œI donโ€™t know the exact number, but it is now over 120 people who have contacted us. [Of that number], I am sure. There are likely more than 120 at this point,โ€ Sgt. Spencer Cannon told The Epoch Times.

 

The 120 figure is comprised of both victims and people who know victims, Cannon said.

 

According to the department, the alleged abuse took place between 1990 and 2010. The Utah County Sheriffโ€™s office previously announced the investigation โ€” which has been underway since April 2021 โ€” in a May 31 press release.

 

The department detailed its investigation into โ€œritualistic sexual abuse and child sex traffickingโ€ in Utahโ€™s second largest county. In addition, law enforcement uncovered similar instances in neighboring Juab County and Sanpete County during the same period.

 

Utah County Attorney David Leavitt was reportedly among those named in the probe.

 

Leavitt has denied the allegations and described one of the alleged victims as โ€œtragically mentally illโ€ after the May 31 press release. โ€œI learned that my wife and I were part of those allegations, allegedly that we were guilty of cannibalizing young children, and murdering young children,โ€ Leavitt said before denying the allegations.

 

The prosecutor has also criticized the handling of the investigation by Sheriff Mike Smith and has accused him of conducting a politically motivated โ€œwitch huntโ€ in an election year.

 

โ€œMr. Leavitt named himself,โ€ Cannon, who did not confirm or deny any names, told The Epoch Times. โ€œWhat I will say, however, is that the case Mr. Leavitt referred to is not the case we began investigating in April 2021. He implies otherwise, but he is wrong,โ€ Cannon said.

 

Another suspect is a therapist previously charged with a series of sex crimes against young female family members, according to Adam Herbets of Fox 13. Police said they had a taped confession, but the Utah County Attorneyโ€™s Office dismissed the charges.

 

The investigation is currently ongoing.

According to online court records, the case was dismissed without prejudice, meaning prosecutors can still refilethe charges. When questioned Friday about the effort to locate the old records, a spokesperson for Leavittโ€™s office said he was traveling and could not immediately provide answers.

โ€œIf Mr. [โ€ฆ] is convicted of these charges, he will never see the light of day,โ€ said Michael Esplin. โ€œI mean, these are โ€“ heโ€™ll be there for the rest of his life in prison.โ€

 

During a hearing in March 2014, Sturgill moved to dismiss the charges, with a plan to possibly refile the case in the future.

 

Neither attorney shared concerns during the hearing that the allegations were outlandish or unbelievable.Instead, they pointed to the several-years delay in reporting by the alleged victim, and difficulty in obtaining records.

 

โ€œThereโ€™s a lot more that needs to be done with this case, and itโ€™s just not coming together,โ€ Sturgill said. โ€œIโ€™m getting resistance from DCFSโ€ฆ and then thereโ€™s other medical records that weโ€™re having some trouble gathering. A lot of itโ€™s due to just the age of this case. Itโ€™s an extremely delayed disclosure.โ€

 

Esplin sought โ€“ unsuccessfully โ€“ to have the case permanently dismissed, citing similar challenges that he believed would prevent his client from having a fair trial.

 

โ€œWitnesses have passed away, records have been shredded, just because of the nature of the length of the time thatโ€™s gone on,โ€ he said. โ€œI donโ€™t believe this case will ever be ready to be tried.โ€

 

Why the case was never refiled and what will happen with it now are questions that remain unanswered, but the sheriff says the current investigation has expanded beyond one case.

 

โ€œWe have new victims coming forward,โ€ he said.

 

The man once charged in the case has recently filed to have the court records expunged. The Attorney Generalโ€™s Office has filed an objection to the expungement request, saying, โ€œThe petitioner is currently the subject of an on-going criminal investigation by four law enforcement agencies into the same conduct which was the basis of the 1999 arrest.โ€

 

The Utah County Attorneyโ€™s Office has also filed an objection.

 

Smith has said the current investigation will continue, regardless of whether the 2012 case is expunged.

The QAnon conspiracy theory, which first surfaced in October 2017, falsely purports that former President Donald Trump was fighting a hidden war against a cabal of Satanist pedophiles in Hollywood and the Democratic Party. Believers in the conspiracy theory's outlandish claims continue to be part of the political landscape, which could have serious ramifications as the midterm elections draw closer.

 

The nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute a nonprofit that researches the intersection of religion, culture and public policy released a study in February showing that nearly 16% of Americans believe the core QAnon conspiracy.

 

"QAnon has evolved from a movement centered around Trump leading a secret military intelligence operation to save the world, into a movement that not only doesn't need Trump but doesn't even need the iconography it developed over the past four years," said Mike Rothschild, conspiracy researcher and author of The Storm Is Upon Us, which provides a history of the QAnon conspiracy theory.

 

Conspiracy theories can be dangerous and even deadly as seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, with vaccine misinformation playing a role in some people succumbing to the virus. Despite being repeatedly debunked, belief in the QAnon conspiracy continues to infect areas of politics beyond Trump. So far this year, aspects of the conspiracy have seeped into protests, a Supreme Court hearing and legislation.

 

"Its mythology of secret pedophile rings suppressed cures and technology, massive corruption and fraud propelling a [purportedly] decrepit Joe Biden into office, and COVID being a hoax, have infected every aspect of mainstream conservative politics and culture," Rothschild added.

โ€œAt the moment, the Western nations are actively betting on the continued war,โ€ Peskov told the TV show โ€˜Moscow. Kremlin. Putin.โ€™ on Russiaโ€™s Rossiya 1 channel. The position of the Western nations โ€“led by Washingtonโ€“ leads to a situation where they โ€œallow Ukrainians neither to think nor talk about or discuss peace,โ€ the Russian presidentโ€™s spokesman added.

Moscow and Kiev started peace talks just four days after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine in late February. The sides have held several rounds in person in Belarus and then continued the talks via a video link. In late March, the delegations from Russia and Ukraine met once again in Istanbul.

 

 

The discussions have since stopped since the Ukrainian side has insisted on returning to the table only when it is in a "stronger bargaining position." In April, Putin accused Kiev of stymieing the process. Peskov stated at the time that Russia had sent a draft agreement to Ukraine and was waiting for a response.

 

 

In June, Ukraineโ€™s top negotiator David Arakhamia suggested that Kiev believes it could achieve this โ€œfavorable positionโ€ by late August after it conducts โ€œcounteroffensive operations in certain areas.โ€

 

 

On February 24, Russia moved soldiers into Ukraine due to Kiev's failure to fulfill the Minsk agreements, which were intended to grant Donetsk and Lugansk special status within the Ukrainian state.

A short history of the morning-after pill in the United States

When Barack Obama was elected president of the United States at the end of 2008, many of his voters thought that they were going to change many things, among them issues related with womenโ€™s rights.

 

One of the areas where this expectation was highest was that of emergency contraception, i.e. in the use of the so-called โ€œmorning-after pillโ€, which as we know, can be used to prevented unwanted pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse.

 

The use of this pill was proposed in the United States in 1999, under the name Plan B. At that time, the pill could only be dispensed with a medical prescription. Essentially, Plan B consists of the administration of two 0.75 mg levonorgestrel pills, although later, in 2009, the go-ahead was given to administer it in a single 1.5 mg dose.

 

Its use is authorised for a period of up to 72 hours after sexual intercourse, although it is most effective the sooner the drug is taken, normally within the first 24 hours.

 

There has been intense controversy since then in American society regarding its effectiveness and safety, especially its mechanism of action, as many of the supporters of its use declared that it acted solely through a contraceptive mechanism, i.e. by impeding the production of a new living human being, while others, among whom we find ourselves, believe that together with this contraceptive mechanism, it can also act by an anti-implantation mechanism, i.e. by preventing the implantation of an already produced embryo in its motherโ€™s womb. The ethical judgement that its use merits will depend largely by which of these mechanisms it acts, hence the controversy.

 

In 2001, at the request of the Center for Reproductive Rights, made up of a group of American lawyers and various civic associations (which brought together more than 70 medical and civil institutions), a petition was made to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the morning-after pill to be issued freely in pharmacies without a prescription. The Bush administration opposed this petition, stating that it required further research on the safety and efficacy of the pill, which meant that being able to issue it freely in pharmacies was delayed for over three years. This decision sparked intense political controversy between the Bush administration and various senators, especially Democrats, among whom Hillary Rodham Clinton had a major role. Finally, in 2006, the FDA approved the distribution of the morning-after pill without prescription, but only for women aged 18 years old or over.

 

When President Obama took over the American government on 20th January 2009, the Democratic administration publically stated that it did not want to interfere with the scientific evidence that appeared to support the medical effectiveness and safety of the morning-after pill, which led many of the defenders of this pill to think that a favourable decision would be taken with respect to its distribution without a prescription for women under 16 years old as well. Nevertheless, the FDA took nearly 3 years to make a decision in this respect, since it was not until December 2011 that it authorised the free distribution of the pill in pharmacies to all women, based on the fact that, in its opinion, the pill was safe and effective.

 

However, the Minister for Health in the Obama Government, Kathleen Sebelius, did not follow the FDA recommendations, and defended the decision that the morning-after pill not be dispensed pharmacies without a prescription to women under 17 years, which unleashed intense controversy among various feminist institutions and other civic associations.

 

Recently, one of these associations, the Center for Reproductive Rights reopened the case; the result was that, 14 months later, on 12th April this year (2013), a federal judge ruled that the morning-after pill could be dispensed without a prescription to all women, irrespective of age.

 

Thus, since Plan B was launched in the United States until this latest decision (to make the morning-after pill available without prescription), 12 years have passed.

 

The long period of time that has been required to take, in our opinion, such a negative decision, has its foundation in the ethical issues arising from the use of a drug in which the mechanism of action is anti-implantation, i.e. abortive, in some circumstances; according to our estimates, this is approximately 50% of the time or more, which constitutes a serious ethical difficulty for many individuals and various groups in the United States.
