Statement by Anthony S. Fauci, M.D.

 

August 22, 2022

 

I am announcing today that I will be stepping down from the positions of Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and Chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, as well as the position of Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden. I will be leaving these positions in December of this year to pursue the next chapter of my career.

 

It has been the honor of a lifetime to have led the NIAID, an extraordinary institution, for so many years and through so many scientific and public health challenges. I am very proud of our many accomplishments. I have worked with – and learned from – countless talented and dedicated people in my own laboratory, at NIAID, at NIH and beyond. To them I express my abiding respect and gratitude.

 

Over the past 38 years as NIAID Director, I have had the enormous privilege of serving under and advising seven Presidents of the United States, beginning with President Ronald Reagan, on newly emerging and re-emerging infectious disease threats including HIV/AIDS, West Nile virus, the anthrax attacks, pandemic influenza, various bird influenza threats, Ebola and Zika, among others, and, of course, most recently the COVID-19 pandemic. I am particularly proud to have served as the Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden since the very first day of his administration.

 

While I am moving on from my current positions, I am not retiring. After more than 50 years of government service, I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field. I want to use what I have learned as NIAID Director to continue to advance science and public health and to inspire and mentor the next generation of scientific leaders as they help prepare the world to face future infectious disease threats.

 

Over the coming months, I will continue to put my full effort, passion and commitment into my current responsibilities, as well as help prepare the Institute for a leadership transition. NIH is served by some of the most talented scientists in the world, and I have no doubt that I am leaving this work in very capable hands.

 

Thanks to the power of science and investments in research and innovation, the world has been able to fight deadly diseases and help save lives around the globe. I am proud to have been part of this important work and look forward to helping to continue to do so in the future.

Russia releases video of suspected Moscow car bomber

 

Footage shows the Ukrainian citizen entering the country and leaving it after assassinating Darya Dugina

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has made public a video of Ukrainian national Natalya Vovk, identified as the prime suspected in Saturday’s car bombing that killed journalist Darya Dugina in Moscow. The footage published Monday shows Vovk and her teenage daughter entering Russia, inside the building where Dugina lived, and leaving the country in haste.

 

Vovk, 43, was named by the FSB on Monday as the prime suspect in the assassination of Dugina. The Ukrainian national arrived in Russia on July 23, using Donetsk People’s Republic license plates to avoid scrutiny. While in Moscow, she swapped the plates on her Mini Cooper to those of Kazakhstan, a friendly former Soviet republic. On Sunday, after the bombing, Vovk drove to Estonia with Ukrainian plates, the FSB said.

 

Photos of the different license plates were included as part of the video presentation.

 

Authorities also said Vovk may have used her teenage daughter as cover, to move around Russia more easily. She rented an apartment in the same building where Dugina lived, and was captured on the doorway camera.

 

A photo ID of Vovk in the uniform of the Ukraine’s National Guard was published in April on the Russian internet, as part of a doxx of neo-Nazi “Azov” regiment members. It lists her surname as Shaban – the surname her daughter used when entering Russia, according to the FSB.

 

Dugina, 30, was killed on Saturday evening after attending a conservative family festival near Moscow with her father, philosopher Aleksandr Dugin. Vovk allegedly planted an improvised explosive device under the Toyota SUV that belonged to Dugin, who may have been her intended target.

Denis Rodman plans Russia trip to secure Griner release

 

Dennis Rodman is planning a trip to Russia in order to attempt secure the release of fellow basketball star Brittney Griner.

 

The former NBA player told NBC News he "got permission" to travel and hopes to fly out within days. "I'm trying to go this week," he said.

 

Rodman's plan comes despite the US State Department strongly discouraging Americans from entering Russia.

 

That said, the US government couldn't secure the release of Griner, an American citizen, since she was arrested at a Moscow airport on 17 February.

 

Griner, who played for Russian side Yekaterinburg during the WNBA off-season, was detained after cannabis-infused vape cartridges were found in her luggage.

 

Since Cannabis oil is illegal in Russia, Griner was convicted of drug possession and trafficking. She was sentenced to nine years behind bars after she pleaded guilty to the charges.

 

On the other hand, Biden claims the Russian court's sentencing of US basketball star Brittney Griner to nine years in prison was "unacceptable."

 

The US President reiterated that he would "work tirelessly and pursue every possible avenue" to repatriate Griner and another detained American in Russia, Paul Whelan.

 

Negotiations are reportedly underway to swap the two for Russians incarcerated in the United States.

Zelensky warns against putting neo-Nazis on trial

 

Russia will “cut itself off” from talks if Azov fighters are prosecuted in Donbass, Ukrainian president insists

There will be no more peace talks with Russia if captured Ukrainian Neo-Nazis are subjected to a “show trial,” the country's President Vladimir Zelensky has claimed.

 

The authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have previously said that they are planning tribunals for suspected war crimes committed by Ukrainian troops, including members of the Azov Battalion, whose ranks include fighters with openly nationalist and neo-Nazi views.

 

“If this despicable show trial takes place… This will be the line beyond which any negotiations are impossible. Russia will cut itself off from any negotiations,” Zelensky said in a video address early Monday, adding that such a trial would be a violation of international law.

 

Zelensky’s statement comes after photos appeared on social media allegedly showing large cages being installed on the stage of the Mariupol Philharmonic. Ukraine’s military intelligence service, the GUR, said that the cells will be used to house Ukrainian troops captured by Russian and Donbass forces during the siege of the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol. They were largely drawn from the Azov Battalion.

 

DPR head Denis Pushilin told TASS this month that “active preparations” for the proceedings were underway. “The first tribunal will most likely be held in Mariupol. It will be organized by the end of summer,” he said.

 

The peace talks between Russia and Ukraine have been stalled since spring.

North Korea plans to ‘deal a blow’ to Biden – Seoul’s ex-spy chief

 

Pyongyang wants to carry out a nuclear missile test in the run-up to the US midterm elections, South Korea’s former top spy has claimed

Pyongyang will time its next nuclear missile test to come ahead of the upcoming US midterm elections, Park Jie-won, the former head of South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS), has claimed.

 

“They are going to do it in order to demonstrate a threat that [their] missile can fly to the US, carrying a miniaturized and lighter warhead, and to deal a blow to the Joe Biden administration ahead of the midterm election,”Park, who led the NIS between 2020 and May 2022, told KBS Radio on Monday.

 

Park added that “there will be some kind of North Korean provocations during the US-South Korea military exercises that start today.”

 

“Kim Jong-un is not going to overlook it as if nothing happened,” he said.

 

The US and South Korea kicked off the 11-day Ulchi Freedom Shield field exercise on Monday. Pyongyang routinely protests such joint drills, which it considers a security threat.

US President Joe Biden, it seems, has effectively decided to sacrifice the Arabs, their interests, demands and fears in order to appease Iran.

By dropping the two demands, "Biden has practically decided to acquiesce to Iran and its entire terrorist expansion project in the Arab region," the influential newspaper editor argued.

 

"This is a dangerous development. The issue is not whether the agreement is signed or not. This is no longer important. The issue is that the Biden administration made its choice between Iran and the Arab countries in this way. The matter is not limited to these concessions made by Biden; there is something more dangerous than this: Biden has completely abandoned the Arabs, allies and non-allies alike."

Israeli spyware company NSO Group lays off 100, CEO steps down

 

NSO Group, an Israeli spyware firm, is laying off 100 of its 750 employees. In addition, NSO CEO Shalev Hulio, one of the firm's three cofounders, will step down from his position to deal with convincing the US authorities to remove NSO from the Department of Commerce blacklist and to find a buyer for the spyware firm.

This is not the first time that Hulio has stepped down as CEO. The Israeli government also urged the Biden administration that before punishing NSO, it should have explained explicitly what needed to be remedied and given the corporation an opportunity to make the modifications.

 

NSO recruited two legal firms in the US to work on the blacklist problem independently of the Israeli government.

 

The attorneys filed an appeal with the Department of Commerce and requested a hearing, which has yet to take place.

New cancer treatment offers hope to patients out of options

 

A newly discovered cancer treatment can stop the disease from advancing in patients who are resistant to immunotherapy.

 

Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that employs the immune system to target and kill cancer cells. It can save lives when other treatment choices, such as surgery, radiotherapy, or chemotherapy, have failed. Treatment cannot, however, benefit all patients, and some tumors can adapt to resist it.

 

Oncologists in the United Kingdom have discovered that combining immunotherapy with guadecitabine, a novel investigational medicine, can reverse cancer's resistance to immunotherapy. They discovered that patients who were anticipated to die after exhausted all therapy options lived far longer.

 

The combination of immunotherapy medicine pembrolizumab and next-generation DNA hypomethylating agent guadecitabine slowed the progression of cancer in more than a third of patients enrolled in the early phase 1 trial. The findings were published in the Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer.

 

The combination could become an effective weapon against different forms of cancer, experts revealed at the Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden NHS foundation trust.

 

Patients in the trial, from the Royal Marsden and University College London hospital, included those with lung, breast, prostate, and bowel cancer.

 

Treatment

 

The study used pembrolizumab and guadecitabine to treat 34 cancer patients, 30 of whom had their tumors analyzed for immune activity and cancer growth. Every three weeks for three years, they had an injection of guadecitabine for four days in a row – and pembrolizumab on the first of those days.

 

Pembrolizumab is an immune checkpoint inhibitor drug that has already proved successful in treating a range of cancers, including lung and skin cancers. However, tumors can develop resistance to it and some patients who initially benefit will eventually get sicker.

 

The study lead, Anna Minchom, a clinical scientist at the Institute of Cancer Research and a consultant medical oncologist at the Royal Marsden, said: “Immunotherapy has shown amazing promise in cancer care over the last decade, but it doesn’t work well in all cancers and cancers can often become resistant. This combination might be a way to target their cancer even after it has stopped responding to immunotherapy.”

 

Guadecitabine may help overcome this resistance, doctors, researchers and scientists involved in the trial have discovered.

 

37% record no tumor progression

 

The tumor stopped progressing in 37% of the 30 patients whose cancer activity was studied, during 24 weeks or more. Prior to the experiment, three-fifths of the cohort (60%) were resistant to immunotherapy. Almost four in ten (39%) did not become ill as a result of the drug combination.

 

The new treatment could help lung cancer patients. Of those resistant to immunotherapy, half had their disease controlled for 24 weeks or more.

 

A patient from Dorset, Alison Sowden, was diagnosed with lung cancer four years ago and was told she had a year to live, but then received pembrolizumab for three years. She is now free of cancer.

 

“I know there is a chance that my cancer may come back and develop resistance to treatment, so it is reassuring to know research efforts aiming to reverse cancer’s resistance to immunotherapy are under way,” she said.

 

“I hope this new experimental drug combination will eventually make it to the clinic and help people who have developed resistance to pembrolizumab.”

India and Russia are holding discussions regarding the possibility of mutually accepting the national RuPay and Mir payment systems, according to the Deccan Herald, adding that ATMs in India and Russia could soon accept Mir cards, likely also clearing the way for the Indian RuPay payment system.

 

A source knowledgeable of the topic divulged that mutual acceptance of the Mir and RuPay banking cards were brought up during a visit between India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, and Ministry o Industry and Trade Denis Manturov. The meeting took place from August 17 to 18.

 

In July, the deputy chair of Russia's Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, called for switching to new payment methods, for instance using national currencies, such as the Russian ruble, the Chinese yuan, the Indian rupee, without ruling out creating a new reserve currency for BRICS members.

 

Launched in 2017, Mir is a Russian banking system, meaning both "peace" and "world" in the language. With the West's current isolation measures of Russia, Iran, Cuba, and other countries from the SWIFT banking system, friendlier alternatives have been on the rise in a bid to combat the West's economic hegemony and aggression.

 

Last week, the Iranian finance ministry's banking and insurance department said that Iran could join Mir payment system within months of when talks between Tehran and Moscow reach a conclusion. This, according to Qorban Eskandari, the department's head, could be in the very near future.

 

South Korea and Turkey, in addition, have also joined Mir, and several former Soviet republics benefit from its services. The United Arab Emirates and India may also join Mir in the future.

 

Last February, Russian banks were excluded from the SWIFT interbank payment system by the decision of the European Commission and its allies. The maneuver was intended to hit the country's banking network and its access to funds via SWIFT, which is pivotal for the smooth transaction of money worldwide.

Fauci, 81, will also vacate his position as President Biden’s chief medical adviser.

“While I am moving on from my current positions, I am not retiring,” the infectious disease expert said in a statement released by the National Institutes of Health. “After more than 50 years of government service, I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field.”

The Hatch Act of 1939, An Act to Prevent Pernicious Political Activities, is a United States federal law. Its main provision prohibits civil service employees in the executive branch of the federal government,[3] except the president and vice president,[4] from engaging in some forms of political activity. Widespread allegations that local Democratic Party politicians used employees of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the congressional elections of 1938 provided the immediate impetus for the passage of the Hatch Act. Criticism centered on swing states such as Kentucky,[6] Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. In Pennsylvania, Republicans and dissident Democrats publicized evidence that Democratic politicians were consulted on the appointment of WPA administrators and case workers and that they used WPA jobs to gain unfair political advantage.[7] In 1938, a series of newspaper articles exposed WPA patronage, and political contributions in return for employment, prompting an investigation by the Senate Campaign Expenditures Committee, headed by Sen. Morris Sheppard, a Texas Democrat.

 

The 1939 Act forbids the intimidation or bribery of voters and restricts political campaign activities by federal employees. It prohibits using any public funds designated for relief or public works for electoral purposes. It forbids officials paid with federal funds from using promises of jobs, promotion, financial assistance, contracts, or any other benefit to coerce campaign contributions or political support. It provides that persons below the policy-making level in the executive branch of the federal government must not only refrain from political practices that would be illegal for any citizen, but must abstain from "any active part" in political campaigns, using this language to specify those who are exempt:[10]

 

(i) an employee paid from an appropriation for the Executive Office of the President; or

Applicability to U.S. uniformed service personnel

The Hatch Act does not apply to military members of the uniformed services of the United States, although it does apply to Department of Defense civil servants, as well as Department of Homeland Security civil servants in direct support of the United States Coast Guard. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces are subject to Department of Defense Directive 1344.10 (DoDD 1344.10), Political Activities by Members of the Armed Forces, and the spirit and intent of that directive is effectively the same as that of the Hatch Act for Federal civil servants.

The Illinois Commerce Commission approved a plan for ComEd to issue a $38 million rebate to customers in the wake of a bribery scheme that has seen numerous high-profile indictments, including that of former House Speaker Mike Madigan, but some activists say that the rebate is far too small a penalty.

The ICC approved the rebate during its regularly-scheduled meeting on Wednesday. A $31 million rebate will be issued by the company directly to consumers to help pay off costs associated with the highly-publicized bribery scheme, while another $7 million rebate will be awarded to consumers through a “federal regulatory process,” according to the ICC.

ComEd also was required to pay a $200 million fine to the government as part of a deferred prosecution agreement in connection with the scheme.

“The quality and value of ComEd’s service to our customers is arguably the best in the nation, but we recognize that delivering excellent performance and value for the dollar is not enough, and we are equally dedicated to earning and maintaining our customers’ trust,” the utility said in a statement.

While it is unclear when the rebates will be issued, likely as a credit on the bill of customers, the rebate amount would average out to around $5 per customer.

The euro briefly dipped below parity against the strong dollar on Monday and was trading at five-week lows, driven down by fears that a three-day stoppage in European gas supply later this month may deepen an energy crisis.

Additionally, the report outlined that “The sealed materials in the Yad Ya’ari archive deal mainly with 1948 and involve the Arab villages of Tantura, Al-Dawayima and Deir Yassin, and elected officials. These include documents in Polish from the late 1940s and early ‘50s that were not authorized for publication and belong to Israel Barzilai, who was health minister and leader of the Mapam party.”

 

Adding that, "Those who stood behind the operation [concealing archives] are members of the MALMAB (responsible for security within the security establishment), a secret agency whose work and budget are secret."

 

The investigation revealed, according to the newspaper, that the members of the apparatus “worked without any legal authority, even in some cases they hid documents that the military censorship authority had previously allowed to be published, and sometimes even transferred them to document vaults whose contents were made public.”

 

After the revelations, Haaretz wrote that the chair of the subcommittee, which deals with issues pertaining to the Security Ministry and its units, MK Michal Rozen, “convened meetings to discuss the matter over the past year.” The media outlet added that during these meetings "it came to light that government representatives did indeed go to archives and lock away documents that were not classified, documents that the ministry’s security department has no authority to conceal."

 

According to information made public by Haaretz, Rozen and the chair of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Ram Ben-Barak did request that the archives be made public. In a statement to the Israeli media outlet, they said that “The ministry never had the legal authority to lock away the documents. […] Portions of our history cannot be concealed just because it’s unpleasant to reveal them. The public has a right to know our past with full transparency.”

 

Furthermore, the Israeli report showed that the request of the officials was, in fact, denied by those in charge. The report read:

 

“[Security] Ministry officials were vehemently opposed to the demand of Rozin and the chair of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Ram Ben-Barak, to disclose the documents. A compromise was finally reached, proposed by MK Eitan Ginzburg, that the [government] archivist would send a letter to archives asking them to check whether the concealed documents could be published, in coordination with the [government] archive.”

 

Israeli government archivist Ruti Abromovich, according to Haaretz, sent a letter to a reduced chain of public archives asking them to submit records from the period of the regime's establishment that were kept locked away in vaults per MALMAB's orders for review by the Government Archives.

 

According to the report, Yaacov Lozowick, the government archivist from 2011-18, argued that “the authority to classify documents, including in the army archive, lies solely with the State Archives and not other archives, whether public or private,” adding that “the fact that the letter was only sent to a few archives raises questions because he believes the Defense Ministry examined hundreds of archives.”

 

The Haaretz report concluded that if "Israel" admitted in the sessions "that the documents were hidden without authority, why did it not insist on their immediate disclosure? A state legislative audit of the Maryland lottery found that the same eight people are winning over and over, and since 2020, these individuals have won the lottery 2,305 times with winnings totaling $4.5 million.

And these numbers are only from prizes over $600 because the state does not collect personal information on prizes under this amount.

Of course, we're talking about the state-level games here, not national games like Powerball, but it's definitely suspicious. Plus, there seems to be an art in Maryland of hiding one's identity behind giant checks, probably to keep family and friends from finding out about the winners' good fortune, but now it's looking like it could be to keep lottery fanatics and the authorities from catching on to the repeat wins too.

The audit also revealed that the State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency had some irregular practices: their systems did not use two-factor identification and they were also not cross-referencing winners' identifications.

The audit came up because there was an allegation of nepotism in the agency, and it did in fact turn out that the agency had favored contracting and violated ethics laws. The report only suggests that this issue was related to salary and contracts, not that nepotism was involved in the suspicious winnings.

Obviously Maryland citizens are upset about the news. Christine Moore of Catonsville said,

The eight people involved are currently being investigated.

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Many players of Maryland's lottery games are chilled by the findings of a recent audit which reveals that the same people are winning Maryland's top lottery prizes over and over again.

The state legislative audit of Maryland's Lottery Agency revealed that, in a one-year period, eight players had won top lottery prizes 200 or more times.

In the state's Pick 4 game, where the odds of winning are one-in-10,000, auditors found one player had claimed the game's $5,000 top prize, 79-times in one year.

"I want to know how did they cheat and do it because you have so many people who haven't won once," said Christine Moore, a regular lottery player in Catonsville.

A recent audit of Pennsylvania's lottery found that 17 players had won top lottery prizes in that state 50 or more times.

"This has nothing to do with lottery products, they are completely secure," said Pennsylvania's Auditor General Tim DeFoor.

"We are talking about whether or not the person claiming the winning prize is doing something they shouldn't," DeFoor said.

Exclusive: Iranian father reveals painful abuse in Abu Ghraib prison

 

"I was visiting [the Shrine of] Imam Hussain, and I have no political affiliation - what did I do? What was my crime for them to violate, torture, and destroy me?" said Mohammed Belandian, an Iranian torture survivor of Abu Ghraib, who still relives his pain 19 years later. "I wake up terrified every night."

 

With an aura laden in anxiety, trembling hands, and a face perspiring in sweat and perpetual disappointment which has brewed over the course of almost two decades, Belandian, an Iranian national, narrates a gut-wrenching tale, in an exclusive Al Mayadeen interview, about the period of time that changed his life forever. The interview was conducted by Al Mayadeen correspondent in Tehran Bissan Tarraf.

 

Belandian, who worked a routine job of dyeing carpets, was arrested by US forces and taken to Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, simply for the fact that he was Iranian. The Abu Ghraib torture prison is one of the US’ most flagrant and notorious violation scandals which had affected the lives of many innocent Iraqis.

 

In the interview, with visibly troubled body language and distressed health conditions, Belandian begins recollecting: "In 2003, I traveled to Iraq to visit the holy shrines in Karbala and Najaf; my last visit was to the city of Kadhimiya. One night, I went out for dinner, during which I started hearing gunshots. The restaurant owner told me not to go anywhere, but I had no understanding of the Arabic language – I thought he was telling me to exit immediately."

 

Upon making his way out, a dismayed Belandian was met by the US Army patrolling the streets of Baghdad: "One policeman asked me: 'Where are you from?' I told him, 'I’m Iranian.'"

 

And thus, Belandian found himself in Abu Ghraib; what was once supposed to be a spiritual visit to holy shrines turned into almost two years of terrorist accusations, torture, and abuse.

 

Belandian was falsely accused of bombing the Baghdad Hotel. In prison, he appealed to his captors, frantically telling them where he was at the time of the bombing, and that he had nothing to do with it – to no avail.

 

A digit, rather than a soul

Under racist premises and an erroneous accusation and sentence, Belandian was thrown into Washington’s hell-hole of a prison, becoming one of many victims of US occupation and aggression. The prisoners were dehumanized in every way possible.

 

The prisoners had no names - they were identified by numbers instead, he revealed: “After giving me the number, they put it in my hand like a bracelet. They told us it should stay in your hands." Immediately ascribing into a mere digit rather than a soul, Belandian wore his number for a year and 7 months.

 

Speaking to Tarraf, the former prisoner revealed the torture methods he had endured and witnessed. Clearly distressed and troubled, Belandian speaks of his trauma, seeming to relive it over and over again – this time facing a camera.

 

Tarraf notes that she has cried watching American-directed Hollywood films, but this is a different kind of feature, a horror-film-turned-reality. She observed that he was very much tense, and angry, sitting with his fists clenched throughout the interview, where he spoke of what many are afraid to speak of.

 

False hopes, military dogs, evil laughter and bearing the prick

In the interview, Belandian narrated how the soldiers tortured him with hope at times, making false promises to release him eventually only to be met with disappointment and endless agony. This was continuously followed by nothing but more torture.

 

At times, the American soldiers would strip him of his clothing, baring him, offering him as a meal to the dogs: This is literal and unexaggerated.

 

"A black dog bit my leg, gouging out my flesh… While the blonde dog did not leave me. The American soldier threatened me that if I block the dog, he would kill me.”

 

As the dog approached Belandian, instilling terror and fear in his wake, Belandian’s nervous system shut down and he fainted, after which they sent over an American woman who, in all laughter and pleasure, shamelessly inflicted pain by stitching his leg with no anesthetic.

 

Pointing to an image during the interview of an American woman with her thumbs up beside his wounded body, he said: “At that time, they sent me an American woman. She started stitching my leg with needles without anesthetic, laughing and saying to me: You bear the pain."

 

This wouldn't mark the first time American soldiers laugh as they torture… or even murder.

Describing the systemic use of rape as a torture method in the women's cells, Belandian said: “At the opposite end of my cell, there was a solitary confinement cell for women. I could hear their screams and their voices begging the soldiers to stop raping them.”

 

Belandian recounted when a US soldier threatened him that if he does not take all his clothes off, he would shoot him: “One night, I heard dogs coming from all the cells… Suddenly they opened the door of my cell and the US soldier forced me out and asked me to take off my clothes. When I took some time to do it, he aimed his weapon at me and said to me furiously: Take off your clothes…"

 

Tarraf had a myriad of questions about rape, an excruciating torture method cemented and affirmed by numerous testimonies of Abu Ghraib survivors. However, Belandian was speaking in front of his wife and two daughters, and thus the correspondent refrained from raising such a question.

 

She said, “In his eyes, I felt there was something missing: There was someone looking for safety, someone who wanted to tell the whole world: America has violated me.”

 

The correspondent also noted that Belandian’s complexion was flushed red, only to learn that he suffers from respiratory problems due to cold flashes he sustained during detention.

Abu Ghraib, today, is called the Baghdad Central Prison, and it is located in the city of Abu Ghraib, 32 km from Baghdad. The detention facility is notoriously known for Washington's and the international coalition’s use and abuse.

Background: The presence of SV40 in monkey cell cultures used in the preparation of the polio vaccine from 1955 through 1961 is well documented. Investigations have consistently demonstrated the oncogenic behavior of SV40 in animal models. Early epidemiologic studies were inadequate in demonstrating an increase in cancer incidence associated with contaminated vaccine. Materials and methods: Using data from SEER, we analyzed the incidence of brain tumors, bone tumors, and mesotheliomas from 1973-1993 and the possible relationship of these tumors with the administration of the SV40 contaminated vaccine.

 

Results: Our analysis indicates increased rates of ependymomas (37%), osteogenic sarcomas (26%), other bone tumors (34%) and mesothelioma (90%) among those in the exposed as compared to the unexposed birth cohort.

 

Conclusions: These data suggest that there may be an increased incidence of certain cancers among the 98 million persons exposed to contaminated polio vaccine in the U.S.; further investigations are clearly justified.

The same newspaper pointed out that the continuous Israeli escalations in the West Bank have angered the Egyptians.

According to the German news outlet NTV, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz claimed that his focus is aimed at “ensuring that there is no escalation of the war,” following the comments of retired Bundeswehr general Klaus Wittmann who accused him of a lack of “leadership” and of appearing intimidated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

 

This weekend, Scholz emphasized during a traditional ‘open-doors day’ that Germany is currently “in the process of supplying the most modern and efficient equipment,” referring to recent multiple deliveries of self-propelled ‘Gepard’ anti-aircraft guns and PzH 2000 howitzers.

Half of the German population has expressed its opposition to delivering heavy arms to Ukraine, per a poll conducted by the German Institute for New Social Answers. Berlin vowed in June to send Kiev one Iris-T unit for free, but Ukraine requested at least a dozen of the most advanced air-defense systems and has offered to purchase the rest directly from the manufacturer, even as Germany’s armed forces reportedly do not have a sufficient supply of those for themselves. According to previous reports, Kiev is anticipated to receive the first supply no earlier than November.

 

Germany also affirmed a Cobra artillery radar to Ukraine last month, reportedly due for delivery in September. According to German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, Kiev has already signed the contract for the materials and troops should be starting training for “this highly complex system.”

 

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Germany has joined the frenzy of Western sanctions against Russia, with its most recent one coming into effect last month, and supplied Ukrainian forces with a significant amount of weapons. Scholz has however faced criticism in Germany over supposedly not doing enough to support Ukraine from both his fellow coalition members, including Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, as well as the ex-Ukrainian ambassador to Berlin, Andrey Melnyk, who even labeled Scholz an “offended liverwurst” over his refusal to visit Kiev in May.

The group of former prosecutors said the only reason Trump hasn't been charged is because he's president.

 

A group of more than 800 former federal prosecutors signed a letter saying they believe the only thing that saved Trump from being indicted on "multiple felony charges for obstruction of justice" is the fact that he's president.

 

The letter contradicts Attorney General William Barr's absurd determination that the actions special counsel Robert Mueller laid out in his report do not amount to obstruction because, as Barr put it, the president has the right to shut down an investigation he believes is unfair and would hamper his administration.

 

In the letter, published on Monday, the group of prosecutors who served under both Democratic and Republican presidents wrote: "Each of us believes that the conduct of President Trump described in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report would, in the case of any other person not covered by the Office of Legal Counsel policy against indicting a sitting President, result in multiple felony charges for obstruction of justice."

 

The former federal prosecutors — many of whom had high-ranking titles, including a former inspector general of the Department of Justice, a former deputy attorney general and a former deputy assistant attorney general — go on to lay out the multiple instances of obstruction of justice they believe would warrant indictments.

UK dock workers' union threatens further strikes

 

A trade union warned on Monday of future strikes at the UK's largest container port if pay demands are not satisfied, threatening to disrupt the supply chain further.

 

Workers at the Felixstowe port in southeastern England launched an eight-day strike over salaries on Sunday, in the latest industrial action as decades-high inflation intensifies in the country's cost-of-living crisis.

 

They claim that the wage offer they got does not keep up with inflation, which has risen above 10% and involves a one-time lump sum payment.

 

"If we don't achieve what we're trying to achieve, there will be more strikes," Robert Morton, national officer for the Unite union, told Sky News.

 

"We've been asking for a minimum of the rate of inflation," Morton said. Nearly 2,000 unionized employees at the port in eastern England, including crane drivers, machine operators, and stevedores, are involved in the first strike at Felixstowe since 1989.

 

It comes amid a wave of strikes over salary and working conditions across the UK, with railway workers the most recent to go on strike on Thursday and Saturday this week.

 

The walkout follows Covid and post-Brexit workforce constraints that have already impacted the UK supply chain. Morton acknowledged that additional strikes at Felixstowe would mean "the supply chain will be severely disrupted" while saying the strike will end as soon as the port agrees to meet for negotiations.

 

The Port of Felixstowe said in a statement Friday that it was "disappointed" the walkout had gone ahead and called its offer of salary increases of on average eight percent "fair". It said it "regrets the impact this action will have on UK supply chains".

 

UK postal workers on strike

 

Two weeks ago, Royal Mail workers voted to begin a four-day strike to protest against low salaries, the Communication Workers Union (CWU) representing the interests of employees said. 97.6% have voted to go on strike, the Union said.

 

The workers are striking against low paid wages amid the rising inflation, whereas the CEO is paid £750,000 a year and took a £140,000 bonus a few weeks ago and shareholders received dividends worth £400 million.

 

After failed attempts of negotiating an offer that involved a 5.5% pay increase, the CWU tweeted that the Royal Mail is lying about their pay "offer".

 

This comes in light of a falling British economy, as a result of the energy crisis.

 

A research note published by Christopher Dembik, head of macro analysis at Saxo Bank, showed that the UK is "more and more looking like an emerging market country," according to a CNBC report. The expert cited a number of key signs as causes for this decline in the economy, including political unrest, trade interruptions, an energy crisis, and sharply rising inflation.

 

Dembik said that “What Brexit has not done by itself, Brexit coupled with Covid and high inflation have succeeded in doing,” adding that “The UK economy is crushed.”

Former President Trump said FBI agents and other agency employees are "furious" at the bureau's leadership following the raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

[WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jan. 10, 2022] Project Veritas has obtained startling never-before-seen documents regarding the origins of COVID-19, gain of function research, vaccines, potential treatments which have been suppressed, and the government’s effort to conceal all of this.

 

The documents in question stem from a report at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, better known as DARPA, which were hidden in a top secret shared drive.

 

DARPA is an agency under the U.S. Department of Defense in charge of facilitating research in technology with potential military applications.

 

Project Veritas has obtained a separate report to the Inspector General of the Department of Defense written by U.S. Marine Corp Major, Joseph Murphy, a former DARPA Fellow.

 

The report states that EcoHealth Alliance approached DARPA in March 2018, seeking funding to conduct gain of function research of bat borne coronaviruses. The proposal, named Project Defuse, was rejected by DARPA over safety concerns and the notion that it violates the basis gain of function research moratorium.

 

According to the documents, NIAID, under the direction of Dr. Fauci, went ahead with the research in Wuhan, China and at several sites across the U.S.

 

Dr. Fauci has repeatedly maintained, under oath, that the NIH and NIAID have not been involved in gain of function research with the EcoHealth Alliance program. But according to the documents obtained by Project Veritas which outline why EcoHealth Alliance’s proposal was rejected, DARPA certainly classified the research as gain of function.

 

“The proposal does not mention or assess potential risks of Gain of Function (GoF) research,” a direct quote from the DARPA rejection letter.

 

Major Murphy’s report goes on to detail great concern over the COVID-19 gain of function program, the concealment of documents, the suppression of potential curatives, like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, and the mRNA vaccines.

 

Project Veritas reached out to DARPA for comment regarding the hidden documents and spoke with the Chief of Communications, Jared Adams, who said, “It doesn’t sound normal to me,” when asked about the way the documents were shrouded in secrecy. “If something resides in a classified setting, then it should be appropriately marked,” Adams said. “I’m not at all familiar with unmarked documents that reside in a classified space, no.”

 

In a video breaking this story published on Monday night, Project Veritas CEO, James O’Keefe, asked a foundational question to DARPA:

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid told French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday that “Israel” opposes a return to the Iran nuclear deal and will not be bound by it if one is reached.

Earlier today, Axios reported that tensions are mounting in the relation between the Israeli occupation and the United States amid reported progress in efforts to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran nuclear deal.

 

White House officials have been trying to reassure their Israeli counterparts that there have been no new concessions to Iran, Axios said citing US officials.

 

However, senior Israeli officials said Thursday that the Israeli occupation Prime Minister Yair Lapid told the White House that the EU draft goes beyond the 2015 deal and crosses the Biden administration’s own red lines.

 

Axios cited one Israeli official as saying, "We are not reassured. We are very concerned." But Lapid has no intention of going against Biden over the Iranian nuclear deal, said the news website.

 

"Our policy is not to reach a public confrontation with the US like the one that has taken place in 2015. We will not ruin the relationship with the Biden administration like Netanyahu did with Obama," a senior Israeli official indicated.

 

It is noteworthy that Israeli national security advisor Eyal Hulata will meet with his American counterpart Jake Sullivan in Washington next Tuesday, as Israeli officials expect more tough discussions.

 

In 2015, Iran signed the JCPOA with the P5+1 group of countries (the United States, China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom - plus Germany) and the European Union.

 

It required Iran to scale back its nuclear program and severely downgrade its uranium reserves in exchange for sanctions relief, including lifting the arms embargo five years after the deal's adoption.

 

However, in 2018, the US, under Trump, abandoned its conciliatory stance on Iran, withdrawing from the JCPOA and implementing hardline policies against Tehran. In April 2021, the parties to the agreement began negotiations to restore the nuclear deal in Vienna.

The Israeli occupation said on Monday that any "attack" by Hezbollah on the Karish offshore platform could spark war after the Lebanese party warned to "sever" the occupation's hands if it infringes on Lebanon's rights and natural resources.

 

The warning from the Israeli occupation Security Minister Benny Gantz comes amid lengthy indirect US-mediated negotiations between Lebanon and "Israel" to settle a dispute over their maritime border.

 

Tensions spiked in June when a production vessel chartered by the Israeli occupation arrived near the Karish offshore gas field, which Lebanon says is within contested waters.

 

On July 2, the Lebanese Resistance movement Hezbollah launched three unarmed UAVs of various sizes toward the disputed region of the Karish gas field on a reconnaissance mission. The mission was completed and the message was delivered.

 

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned on August 9 that "the hand that reaches for any of this wealth will be severed."

 

Asked if any attack by Hezbollah against the Karish platform could lead to war, Gantz claimed, "Yes, that could trigger a reaction."

 

"Leading to several days of fighting and to a military campaign. We are strong and prepared for this scenario, but we don't want it," the Israeli Minister told 103 FM radio station.

 

Gantz said extraction from the gas field would begin "when it is ready to produce," insisting on "Israel's" illegal claims to Karish.

 

"Israel is both ready to protect its assets and ready to reach a deal with the Lebanese government, via American mediation, on the Sidon deposit," he claimed in reference to another gas field known in Lebanon as Qana.

 

The Israeli Minister said, "I believe that in the future, there will be two gas platforms. One on our side, one on theirs. And I hope that we do not have to go through another round of confrontations before then."

 

Gantz's remarks come as Israeli media reported on Sunday that "Israel" is worried that Hezbollah would carry out another "provocation" before the possible signing of an indirect maritime border agreement between "Israel" and Lebanon.

 

However, the media failed to present any information regarding what kind of "provocation security officials believe Hezbollah will carry out."

 

On Friday, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah underlined that "If Lebanon does not obtain the rights demanded by the Lebanese state, we are heading toward an escalation whether or not the (Iranian) nuclear agreement is signed."

 

It is noteworthy that on Saturday, a Lebanese official source confirmed that Lebanon and "Israel" are close to reaching an agreement on the demarcation of the maritime borders.

 

In a statement to Sputnik, the source said, "We are very close to reaching an agreement on the demarcation of the maritime border with Israel, and we have been informed that the answer the US mediator Amos Hochstein will carry from the Israeli side in response to the Lebanese proposal is positive, and he will soon return to Beirut."

 

The source added that "the border demarcation issue will be concluded in September."

Russia releases video of suspected Moscow car bomber

 

Footage shows the Ukrainian citizen entering the country and leaving it after assassinating Darya Dugina

 

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has made public a video of Ukrainian national Natalya Vovk, identified as the prime suspect in Saturday’s car bombing that killed journalist Darya Dugina in Moscow. The footage published Monday shows Vovk and her teenage daughter entering Russia, inside the building where Dugina lived, and leaving the country in haste.

 

Vovk, 43, was named by the FSB on Monday as the prime suspect in the assassination of Dugina. The Ukrainian national arrived in Russia on July 23, using Donetsk People’s Republic license plates to avoid scrutiny. While in Moscow, she swapped the plates on her Mini Cooper to those of Kazakhstan, a friendly former Soviet republic. On Sunday, after the bombing, Vovk drove to Estonia with Ukrainian plates, the FSB said.

 

Photos of the different license plates were included as part of the video presentation.

 

The authorities also said Vovk may have used her teenage daughter as cover to move around Russia more easily. She rented an apartment in the same building where Dugina lived, and was captured on the doorway camera.

 

A photo ID of Vovk in the uniform of Ukraine’s National Guard was published in April on the Russian internet, as part of a dox of neo-Nazi Azov regiment members. It lists her surname as Shaban – the surname her daughter used when entering Russia, according to the FSB. Ukraine previously claimed it was not involved in the assassination.

 

Dugina, 29, was killed on Saturday evening after attending a conservative family festival near Moscow with her father, philosopher Aleksandr Dugin. Vovk allegedly planted an improvised explosive device under the Toyota SUV that belonged to Dugin, who may have been her intended target.

Fauci Stepping Down In December

 

Dr. Anthony Fauci announced on Monday that he will be stepping down from his positions as director of NIAID and Chief of the NIAID laboratory of immunoregulation.

 

The 81-year-old Fauci leave government service in December after more than 50 years.

 

He will also be stepping down from his position of chief medical adviser to President Biden.

 

"I am moving from my current positions, I am not retiring," Fauci said in a statement.

 

In a Sunday evening interview, Fauci said he was "not retiring in the classic sense," and would devote himself to a (undoubtedly profitable) circuit of traveling, writing and encouraging young people to enter government service.

 

"So long as I’m healthy, which I am, and I’m energetic, which I am, and I’m passionate, which I am, I want to do some things outside of the realm of the federal government," he told the NY Times. He's also got a memoir in the works.

 

While he has been working on a memoir, Dr. Fauci said he did not yet have a publisher. In an interview last year, he said he was precluded from contracting with a publisher while he was still employed by the government.

 

In a Monday statement, President Biden thanked Fauci, who he called a "dedicated public servant and a steady hand with wisdom and insight," adding "Because of Dr. Fauci’s many contributions to public health, lives here in the United States and around the world have been saved."

 

News of Fauci's retirement comes as the US Covid response comes under harsh scrutiny from GOP lawmakers, who have vowed to ramp up probes if they regain the house and/or Senate in November's Midterm elections.

The judge last Thursday ordered the Justice Department to unseal only a portion of the probable cause affidavit.

Judge Reinhart gave the DOJ an “opportunity to propose redaction.”

 

The government has until Thursday, August 25 at noon to file under seal a submission “addressing possible redactions and providing any additional evidence or legal argument that the Government believes relevant to the pending Motions to Unseal.”

 

Reinhart said he will review the redactions and make changes if necessary.

 

The judge also said the media outlets who are parties to the lawsuit can appeal his ruling, Fox News reported.

FBI Field Office Chief During Botched Whitmer Plot Was Moved to the District That Covers Mar-a-Lago

D’Antuono was the head of the FBI’s Detroit field office as the bureau was investigating a supposed kidnapping attempt against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

 

As Just the News notes, trial testimony alleges the “plot” wasn’t just investigated but instigated by the FBI, with the jury hearing that the bureau’s informants gave drugs to those who were eventually charged in the plot before recording their conversations and sometimes outnumbered “plotters” during meetings.

 

Closing arguments in the case of two men on trial for the Whitmer “plot” are scheduled to begin Monday. Even if the government gets a conviction, however, the entire endeavor smacks of entrapment. You’d think a man with that kind of record would get shipped out to some nice, remote FBI field office with a filing job to keep him busy until he collects his pension.

 

Instead, he’s currently the assistant director in charge of the Washington field office — which means he’s also the guy who’s in charge of the office that’s investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol incursion and which is responsible for raiding former President Donald Trump’s estate at Mar-a-Lago earlier this month, according to Just the News.

 

From the FBI’s perspective, this is the worst time to remind America of this fact. On Thursday, the prosecution rested in the retrial of Barry Croft, Jr. and Adam Fox, two of the men charged in the supposed plot to kidnap Whitmer.

 

The two men have already been tried once, but a mistrial was declared in April after a jury couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict in their cases. Two others accused in the case were acquitted after their defense attorneys argued they’d been targeted for entrapment by the bureau.

 

Last week included dramatic testimony from FBI informant Dan Chappel, Just the News noted. Known as “Big Dan,” Chappel is a U.S. Postal Service delivery truck driver who was put in touch with the FBI by a police officer after Chappel shared his concerns regarding a pro-Second Amendment Facebook group.

 

Chappel testified that he offered Fox a credit card from the FBI with a $5,000 limit to purchase firearms and ammunition and rent hotel rooms, according to Just the News. He did this despite the fact that Fox was then unemployed and basically homeless, living in the basement of a vacuum-cleaner repair shop that didn’t have running water. Fox refused the credit card, however, according to Just the News.

 

As for Chappel himself, evidence the defense submitted showed he took home $60,000 in pay for seven months work with the bureau, according to Just the News. The benefits also included a smart watch, a computer worth more than $3,000 and new tires.

 

Chappel also brought the group of “plotters” together in the first place, according to Just the News, and testified that the FBI allowed protesters to storm the state capitol in Lansing during an anti-lockdown protest in April of 2020.

 

Confirmation of this can be seen in texts from Chappel’s FBI handler, who praised him for “bringing people together.”

WEF Pushes Chip Implants for Children, Comparing Them to Eyeglasses and Hearing Aids

 

WEF suggests there are ways to "ethically make these amazing technologies a part of our lives."

 

The latest highly controversial technology/policy that the World Economic Forum (WEF) has set out to normalize is the idea of implanting tracking chips into humans.

 

It wasn’t that long ago that those speculating on a future where this is happening would get dismissed as conspiracy theorists, but now the world elites’ most vocal outlet is predicting that chip implants will eventually become just a commodity.

 

And the WEF makes a case that implanting chips into children could be viewed by parents as a “solid, rational” move. All of this crops up in a blog post on the organization’s website dedicated to the future of augmented reality (AR), and what is referred to as “an augmented society.”

 

Like in many of WEF’s other takes on the future of various types of technology, the emphasis is put on inserting the “right,” i.e., its own “vision” in the direction these should be developing, with the inevitable mention of undefined society stakeholders who will hold the key to the ethics issue of it all.

 

The WEF is talking up the allegedly broad usefulness of AR going forward in fields such as healthcare, education, and professional settings, with the underpinning notion of providing guidelines as to how to “ethically” regulate this vast potential power – and therefore, when all’s said and done, control it.

 

The WEF calls AR and similar tech transformative – but in need of “the right support, vision, and audacity.”

 

Once again it isn’t at all clear why “audacity” is thrown in, unless it is a euphemism to sell some pretty outrageous “visions” that the WEF is expressing, such as replacing drugs with brain implants that will manipulate the body with electrical pulses, and pairing all sorts of chips put into humans through surgery, with sensors one might find in a chair.

 

And so, with the human and the chair “seamlessly integrated,” the quality of life across the board shoots up, the Davos-based group promises.

 

“As scary as chip implants may sound, they form part of a natural evolution that wearables once underwent. Hearing aids or glasses no longer carry a stigma,” the blog post reads. “They are accessories and are even considered a fashion item. Likewise, implants will evolve into a commodity.”

 

But critics of these trends say their opposition has nothing to do with “stigmas” – rather with serious concerns about civil rights, privacy, and the very concept of human autonomy.

Former Pakistan PM Charged Under Terrorism Act for ‘Threatening’ Judge, Police Officers: Reports

 

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been charged under the country’s terrorism act for allegedly “threatening” police officers and a female magistrate in his rally speech on Saturday, according to local reports.

 

A first information report (FIR) was filed against Khan on Sunday, stating that he “terrorized and threatened” additional sessions judge Zeba Chaudhry and police officers during a public rally in Islamabad.

 

Magistrate Ali Javed filed the FIR at the Margalla Police Station of Islamabad under section 7 of the anti-terrorism act, local news agency Geo TV reported. It remains unclear whether Khan was subject to an arrest warrant.

 

The FIR was filed in connection with Khan’s statement on Saturday that he would file charges against two police officials and Chaudhry for the alleged “gruesome torture” of his adviser Shahbaz Gill, who was arrested last week for sedition charges.

 

Khan blamed Chaudhry for approving Gill’s two-day detention, accusing the government of trying to intimidate his party “by torturing Gill.”

Live Speech Banned

 

Pakistan’s electronic media watchdog has banned satellite television channels from broadcasting Khan’s live speeches, citing what it called “hate speech” against state institutions.

 

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) said that Khan has been “continuously alleging state institutions by leveling baseless accusations” and spreading hatred through his speeches.

 

“All the licensees were directed to refrain from telecasting any content in any manner (either recorded or produced under its banner or aired during a live speech or press talk) against state institutions,” PEMRA stated in a video carried by Geo TV.

 

Soon after the television ban, Khan’s party vowed to go live on “500+ YouTube and Facebook channels.”

 

However, many Pakistani users reported problems in accessing YouTube on Sunday, just as Khan was about to address a gathering in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.

A senior staffer for Democratic New York Rep. Jerry Nadler has violated federal law in the past several years for providing legal services to the congressman’s campaign and leadership PAC, Americans for Public Trust, a watchdog, alleged in an ethics complaint Monday obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Senior staff are barred from being paid through a role involving a “fiduciary relationship, including the practice of law,” according to federal law.

“House ethics rules make this simple prohibition abundantly clear: senior staffers cannot be paid to be campaign attorneys,” Caitlin Sutherland, executive director of Americans for Public Trust, told the DCNF. “But Nadler’s team has done exactly that.”

 

A top staffer for Democratic New York Rep. Jerry Nadler has been violating federal law by providing legal services to the congressman’s campaign and leadership PAC, a watchdog alleged in an ethics complaint Monday obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

 

Robert Gottheim is the district director for Nadler’s office and between 2019 and 2021 he received hundreds of thousands in pay to qualify as a “senior staffer.” However, the fact that Gottheim has also been paid for legal services by Nadler’s campaign and PAC is illegal since senior staff are barred from being paid through a role involving a “fiduciary relationship, including the practice of law,” Americans for Public Trust, a watchdog group, alleged in a complaint to the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE).

 

“House ethics rules make this simple prohibition abundantly clear: senior staffers cannot be paid to be campaign attorneys,” Caitlin Sutherland, executive director of Americans for Public Trust, told the DCNF. “But Nadler’s team has done exactly that.”

Fire Consumes Mexican Border City Church Days After Another Pastor Threatened

 

A suspicious fire consumed a church in a Mexican border city over the weekend after Gulf Cartel gunmen threatened another pastor in the same city.

 

The fire occurred in Miguel Aleman at the Las Americas Christian Center.

 

Firefighters rushed to the church to put out the flames, however, most of the building sustained heavy damage. The pastor’s family was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation and minor injuries.

 

“The sinister (fire) was a little strong, I think a little more so because everything in the church room was quite affected,” said Pastor Lucio Humberto Villanueva in Spanish. “Also because of the smoke, the electricity cables were burned, the walls of the church — both the temple and the floors. They burst. It was too hot.”

 

In an interview with Breitbart Texas, Villanueva revealed that he had been ministering in Miguel Aleman for six years and this is the first time he faced any security issues. Even though Miguel Aleman has a strong presence by cartel members, Villanueva said he has never had any issues with the criminal elements at his welcoming church.

 

Authorities have not determined if the case was arson, however, the fire comes days after another pastor in the same city was carjacked and threatened by cartel gunmen. Miguel Aleman has seen a rise in violence as the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas seeks turf in the region. The struggles have led to an increase in Gulf Cartel gunmen trying to violently hold control.

Facebook Fact-Check Censors Factual Claim IRS Is Arming Agents To Use Deadly Force

 

Facebook has deployed one of its infamous ‘fact checkers’ to suggest that the completely accurate claim that the IRS is seeking to arm more agents to use deadly force was “partly false information.”

 

Earlier this month, an IRS job posting was uncovered that announced the agency was looking to hire people who are ready to kill.

 

The job ad listed one of the “major duties” of IRS agents to be able to “carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force, if necessary.”

 

The IRS subsequently deleted the job posting after it stoked controversy, but then a 2021 IRS annual report also came to light which showed heavily armed agents simulating an assault on a suburban home as part of their training.

 

When the Heritage Foundation and Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) posted about the issue on Facebook, the Big Tech giant, relying on a ‘fact check’ carried out by Lead Stories, slapped a warning label on posts that said they constituted “partly false information.”

 

Fact checks have the effect of basically blacklisting content on Facebook, burying it in the algorithm and preventing large numbers of people from viewing the content.

Former President Barack Obama will host a fundraiser for his former Attorney General Eric Holder’s redistricting committee on August 30th, in a major step forward for Democrats in the midterms.

 

The fundraiser for Holder’s National Democratic Redistricting Committee will feature a dinner and a discussion about democracy, supporting legal efforts to help Democrats in the 2022 midterm elections, according to Politico’s Playbook. The event will take place at Martha’s Vineyard.

 

Holder spoke about his group’s midterm efforts in a recent interview with Sirius/XM host Joe Madison.

 

He spoke about a pressing need to draft a group of polling workers in every state to combat Republicans and that his group was focusing on the problem.

 

Holder also warned that teams of Republicans working to prevent voter fraud in the midterm election would “muck up the process” and “intimidate people,” which he argued was a “threat” to democracy.

 

“The iteration of this Republican Party just ain’t that into democracy,” he said, warning that Republican efforts to secure elections would try to “guarantee themselves a positive result” in future elections.

 

Holder said his committee was working on drafting teams of election monitors and polling workers in every state to fight Republicans and called for volunteers.

 

“In the absence of some kind of countermeasures by those of us who favor democracy, they will take our democracy from us,” he said.

 

Holder also spoke about the midterm elections at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival.

 

“If we want to be at the place where we need to be, it’s up to this generation at this time to make sure these changes occur. We have that capacity,” he said. “The cavalry is not coming. We are the cavalry.”

NYT Op-Ed: Throw out the ‘Broken Constitution’ and ‘Reclaim America’

 

The “broken” and “famously undemocratic” U.S. Constitution “stands in the way” of “real” freedom and democracy, according to a New York Times op-ed by two Ivy League law professors.

 

The pair issued a call to “radically alter the basic rules of the game” by no longer requiring us to “justify our politics by the Constitution.”

 

A Friday New York Times essay, titled “The Constitution Is Broken and Should Not Be Reclaimed,” and penned by law professors Ryan D. Doerfler of Harvard and Samuel Moyn of Yale, claims when liberals “lose in the Supreme Court” they often blame justices for misreading the Constitution, yet in reality, “struggling over the Constitution has proved a dead end.”

 

“The real need is not to reclaim the Constitution, as many would have it, but instead to reclaim America from constitutionalism,” the authors assert, as they attack the “some centuries-old text.”

 

The essay also claims that constitutions, and “especially the broken one we have now,” direct us to the past, something that “aids the right” which tends to stick “with what it claims to be the original meaning of the past.”

 

Though liberals have attempted to “reclaim” the Constitution for half a century, the essay claims they have “agonizingly little to show for it” while calling to “radically alter the basic rules of the game.”

 

The authors also criticize progressives for attempts to “regain ownership of our founding charter,” mistakenly attributing the problem to the Supreme Court’s “hijacking” of the Constitution rather than the charter itself.

 

“[E]ven when progressives concede that the Constitution is at the root of our situation, typically the call is for some new constitutionalism,” they write.

 

Calling the current Constitution “inadequate” and “famously undemocratic,” the authors wonder why progressives bother to “justify our politics by the Constitution or by calls for some renovated constitutional tradition.”

 

“It would be far better if liberal legislators could simply make a case for abortion and labor rights on their own merits without having to bother with the Constitution,” they add.

TONY Blair was listed in Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘little black contacts book’ alongside a series of Britain’s richest and most powerful people, it has been claimed today.

 

The former Prime Minister was one of 301 British names and featured alongside Sir Richard Branson, Sir Mick Jagger, Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. Epstein was found dead in his cell in a Manhattan jail where he was being held without bail awaiting trial for allegedly abusing dozens of underage girls as young as 14 in New York and Florida.

 

The 66-year-old, who denied the charges, was found at 6.30am on Saturday morning, according to a statement from the Department of Justice. Officials said he had hanged himself.

 

He was facing up to 45 years behind bars on federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges.

 

Epstein had built up an astonishing list of more than 1,000 phone numbers and email addresses for hundreds of famous names from both sides of the Atlantic.

 

There is no suggestion the names listed in the “little black book” - which is now in the hands of the FBI - were involved in any wrongdoing or even met Epstein.

 

The contacts also included celebrities such as Simon Le Bon, the late Sir David Frost, supermodel Naomi Campbell, socialite Tamara Beckwith, Jonathan Dimbleby, Loyd Grossman and numerous lords and ladies.

 

Mr Blair is recorded once in the book while former cabinet minister Peter Mandelson has 10 entries, including one marked “direct line” one for “home” and another for “country home”.

 

There are 16 numbers for Prince Andrew, including a mobile number, one marked “Palace ex-directory”, one for Balmoral, the Queen’s Scottish residence, where the Prince invited Epstein, and one marked “Sand”, for Sandringham.

 

Epstein also recorded 18 numbers for Prince Andrew’s former wife Sarah Ferguson, who accepted£15,000 from the paedophile to help pay debts.

Corporate Media Mostly Mum as US Strikes Kill at Least 20 in Somalia

 

"This is a completely under-the-radar news story, one that was curiously absent from the headlines in all of the major newspapers this morning," wrote one expert after the latest U.S. strike on Somalia.

 

Conflict monitors on Friday drew attention to a series of U.S. airstrikes in Somalia in recent months, attacks that have received relatively little attention in the American corporate media despite having reportedly killed more than 20 people.

 

"Bottom line, it's been a long time since the United States was not bombing Somalia."

 

"If you were unaware that we were bombing Somalia, don't feel bad, this is a completely under-the-radar news story, one that was curiously absent from the headlines in all of the major newspapers this morning," wrote Kelley Beaucar Vlahos, a senior adviser at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft.

 

On Wednesday, Antiwar.com's Dave DeCamp reported that U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) launched its second strike on Somalia in a week. AFRICOM said its initial assessment found the attack, which occurred in Beledweyne and killed 13 fighters belonging to the al-Qaeda-linked Somali militant group al-Shabaab, and that no civilians were harmed.

 

AFRICOM also said it killed four al-Shabaab members in three separate airstrikes near Beledweyne on August 9, two fighters in a joint U.S.-Somali operation near Labi Kus on July 17, and five militants in a June 3 bombing outside Beer Xani.

 

All of these strikes have taken place since U.S. President Joe Biden approved the redeployment of hundreds of special forces troops to Somalia in May, reversing a drawdown from the war-ravaged nation implemented during the administration of former President Donald Trump.

 

DeCamp noted that Trump's withdrawal from Somalia merely "repositioned troops in neighboring Djibouti and Kenya, allowing the drone war to continue. But Biden has launched significantly fewer strikes in Somalia compared to his predecessor."

 

According to data from the U.K.-based monitor group Airwars, U.S. forces have bombed Somalia at least 16 times during Biden's tenure, killing between 465 and 545 suspected militants. On March 13, a joint U.S. drone and Somali airstrike killed a staggering 200 alleged militants.

 

Airwars identified civilian casualties in just one of the attacks during Biden's presidency, a June 2021 strike attributed to either U.S. or Kenyan forces, which have been battling al-Shabaab since 2011. The attack on the southern town of Ceel Cadde killed Sahro Adan Warsame and seriously injured five of her children, according to local media reports.

 

Since 2007, the U.S. military has carried out 260 actions in Somalia. While the Pentagon only admits to killing five civilians and wounding 11 others in a campaign it claims killed as many as 3,010 militants, Airwars estimates that 78-153 civilians, including 20-23 children, have died in U.S. attacks.

 

"Bottom line, it’s been a long time since the United States was not bombing Somalia," wrote Vlahos. "This comes after a particularly bloody period during the [so-called War on Terror] in which the CIA was using the country to detain and torture terror suspects from across North Africa."

 

"Whether this has ultimately been a good thing for the country or for the broader security of the region, one need only to look at the continued instability and impoverishment of the people," she added, "and of course, the persistent presence of al-Shabaab itself."

US Hypocrisy and Israeli Crimes

 

Many people were surprised and outraged when US President Biden recently fist bumped Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. After all, as a candidate, Biden pledged to make the Saudi kingdom a pariah since the Crown Prince had been directly linked to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

 

In contrast, consider the relative lack of outrage to Biden’s statement after the latest criminal Israeli attack on Gaza that began on August 5th. This air bombardment by Israel, a nuclear power with one of the world’s strongest militaries and the occupier of Palestinian land, was against a mostly defenseless people. During this attack, 49 Palestinians, including 17 children, were killed and 360 Palestinians including 151 children were wounded. In contrast, reports suggest that 13 Israelis had minor injuries. Biden said: “My support for Israel’s security is long-standing and unwavering – including its right to defend itself against attacks. … I commend Prime Minister Yair Lapid and his government’s steady leadership throughout the crisis.”

 

Biden’s comment ignores reality. Israel wasn’t attacked, but it had attacked Gaza. Palestinians responded to the attack by Israel. In addition, note the large number of Palestinian children who were killed or wounded. This Israeli war crime clearly did not spare Palestinian civilians. This is the leadership that Biden and many other politicians commended. Wow – this says a lot! Even worse, Biden doesn’t seem to think Palestinians have a right to defend themselves against Israel’s state terrorism.

 

Besides the immeasurable human cost of the Israeli attack, the damage Israel did to Palestinian infrastructure and housing makes life in Gaza ever more difficult. Just as in numerous previous horrific and devastating Israeli attacks, there is no talk of Israel paying reparations for the widespread devastation it inflicted on Gaza. Rebuilding is difficult given that Israel has maintained, with US and Egyptian support, an illegal siege on Gaza since 2007.

 

The US corporate-dominated media plays a role in enabling these Israeli crimes by its biased coverage. For example, it downplays the fact that Israel is an apartheid state. The US media also fails to consistently point out that Israel is occupying Palestinian land in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. There are well over 600,000 Israeli settlers living illegally on Palestinian land in the West Bank. The media doesn’t stress that Israel routinely violates international law, particularly the 1949 Geneva Conventions on occupation, with impunity. The media also seldom mentions that the US has cast over 40 vetoes of UN Security Council resolutions regarding problematic Israeli behavior. These vetoes or threats of vetoes by the US enable Israel to escape accountability.

 

In addition, given how the US praises Ukrainians who resist the Russian military in Ukraine, it is appalling to see the US commending Israel even though it has been occupying Palestinian land for decades. Ukrainians who resist Russian forces are touted as heroes in the US corporate media whereas Palestinians who legitimately resist cruel and illegal Israeli policies are called terrorists. As this latest attack shows, Palestinians who are simply trying to live their lives are killed with impunity for the killers due to the US preventing any sanctions against Israel.

Special Counsel Durham's lead prosecutor withdraws from next up Danchenko case

 

Assistant special counsel Andrew DeFilippis led the prosecution of former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann in May.

 

Special Counsel John Durham's lead prosecutor has withdrawn from the case of Igor Danchenko, a source for the Christopher Steele dossier, less than two months before the trial is scheduled to begin.

 

The filing to withdraw was submitted late Sunday by Assistant Special Counsel Andrew DeFilippis, The Washington Times reported.

 

There are no other details offered in the filing, and the Justice Department has yet to respond to a request for comment.

 

Durham was appointed in 2020 by the Justice Department to be a special counsel to investigate the federal government's probe into alleged collusion between Russia and the 2016 Trump presidential campaign.

 

The investigation includes learning about the origins of the now-discredited Steele, created to try to find dirt on then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

 

DeFilippis didn't immediately respond Monday to a request for comment from Just the News.

 

In May, DeFilippis led the prosecution of former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann, whom a Washington, D.C., jury found not guilty this summer of lying to the FBI about the alleged Trump-Russia collusion.

 

DeFilippis was also a top prosecutor in the special counsel's case against former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who pleaded guilty to doctoring an email that was used to justify a surveillance warrant targeting former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

 

Danchenko's trial is scheduled to start Oct. 16. He was charged last fall for repeatedly lying to the FBI about compiling information for the dossier. Danchenko has pleaded not guilty.

Biden Regime Targets Red States, Religious Voters In Latest Push To Normalize Unpopular Abortion Radicalism

While the Associated Press demands Republicans defend why they are pro-life, the Biden administration is plotting to target states that have implemented common-sense abortion restrictions that a majority of U.S. voters and at least half of Democrats support.

 

Despite voters’ deeply negative feelings about taxpayer-funded abortion until birth, the Biden-Harris White House is partnering with radical abortion groups such as NARAL to weaponize executive agencies against pro-life states and double down on its pro-abortion propaganda.

 

As Reuters reported, these frequent strategy meetings often attract thousands of participantswho want to advance President Joe Biden’s goal to make abortion a selling point in the upcoming midterm elections.

 

The idea, according to sources quoted in the Reuters report, is “to be much more disciplined and consistent in messaging to break through to the everyday American.” But the lengths to which the Biden administration is going to prevent states and voters from exercising their right to restrict the killing of life in the womb is not on par with how “the everyday American” feels.

 

Mere weeks after issuing an executive order that would force taxpayers to fund abortion on demand until birth in states that cater to abortion tourists, the White House wants to twist existing federal laws such as the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act and the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to force unlimited abortions — even mail-order ones — in all 50 states.

 

To execute that agenda, the Biden administration plans to sic the Department of Justice on red, pro-life states such as Idaho, which is already under scrutiny by Attorney General Merrick Garland for allowing the prosecution of doctors who perform abortions without first establishing that they were “necessary to prevent the death of the pregnant woman” or the result of an “act of rape or incest.”

 

The White House also plans to partner with Democrats and activists to ensure that out-of-state activism and deceptive advertising, like the kind used to prevent Kansans from amending the state constitution to clarify that it does not guarantee “a right to abortion,” is implemented in all of the upcoming abortion-themed ballot-measure battles.

 

“The White House plans to replicate the success in Kansas, said the sources. It is closely tracking similar ballot initiatives in California, Kentucky, Michigan, and Vermont and gubernatorial races like Michigan’s, where abortion has become a central issue, sources said,” according to the Reuters report.

 

In addition to trying to sway the outcomes of key abortion votes, the White House is scheming to brainwash men, women, and people of faith with “research” detailing the “physical and mental harms women face if they’re denied access to abortion.” That includes claiming that the medical costs associated with pregnancy and birth alone are enough to justify the barbaric practice.

 

Manipulating the facts about abortion and promoting it as a normalized practice even in the third trimester far exceeds what the majority of Americans support when it comes to ending unborn life, and by all measures, it is not a winning talking point with voters. Yet Biden, whose approval ratings are abysmal, and vulnerable Senate Democrats have shifted their focus away from inflation and voters’ top priorities to abortion.

In recent months there has been an increased concern about Covid injections amongst Virgin Australia staff, for example, the effects on fertility and pregnancy. So, at the end of last month, Virgin Australia invited “medical specialists” to “reassure” staff that the “vaccines” were completely safe for all stages of pregnancy and breastfeeding.

 

CEO Jayne Hrdlicka invited several doctors to present information and to answer any questions staff may have. The online presentations were streamed live on a Facebook group as well as on the company’s intranet used by employees. All Virgin Australia staff were invited to attend. Virgin titled the series of presentations, to convince staff that “vaccines” are safe and effective, ‘The Covid Information Series’.

 

Included in Virgin’s Covid Information Series were presentations made by Dr. Nick Coatsworth, Dr. Anthony Byrne, Dr. Debra Kennedy and Dr Natalie Gray, copies of which have been leaked to The Exposé by an anonymous source.

 

The many concerns brought by staff were represented during the question-and-answer segments – particularly in Dr. Natalie Gray’s session. Concerns raised included issues around mRNA technology, AstraZeneca blood clotting deaths, thousands of reported adverse events and a lack of long-term data on fertility concerns. One of the three company doctors was pregnant with her first baby and happily took her shots while pregnant and strongly encouraged others to do so.

 

The repeated message throughout the presentations was the vaccine is SAFE AND EFFECTIVE.

 

Below is a clip from Dr. Gray’s session tweeted by Aussie Freedom Flyers in which she told airline staff:

 

“There have been no additional side effects found in pregnant women compared to non-pregnant women. So, the vaccine is safe and effective. So, my advice would be: please, if you are pregnant or intending to be pregnant, be reassured that it is entirely safe in pregnancy … There is no indication that there is any impact on fertility, either planning to become pregnant now or down the track. We also know that side effects of vaccines only go for about eight weeks.”

 

Many staff members bought the “safe and effective” narrative and wholeheartedly believed if you weren’t prepared to take the vaccine – then aviation was not the right industry for you. An ideology famously announced by Qantas CEO Alan Joyce who in August 2021 told ABC’s News Breakfast: “people that are just unwilling to take the vaccine, we think aviation is not the industry for them.”

 

However, there were several staff who have suffered or knew someone who have suffered adverse reactions to the injections. Dozens of cabin crew were complaining of adverse effects impacting their menstrual cycles. Although Virgin kept the intranet site open for discussion, on the issue of the vaccination policy, Jayne Hrdlicka closed down the comments on the Facebook group due to significant pushback from those watching the presentations live.

Israel Raids Palestinian Civil Society

 

The targeted groups were documenting Israeli war crimes in Palestine and collaborating with investigations into Israel’s actions, including the probe by the International Criminal Court, Tanupriya Singh reports.

 

In a further escalation of Israel’s ongoing campaign of repression, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) ransacked and shut down the offices of seven leading Palestinian civil society and human rights organizations in the occupied West Bank on Thursday.

 

The early morning raids targeted Al Haq, prisoner advocacy group Addameer, Bisan Center for Human Rights, Defense for Children International-Palestine (DCI-P), Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) and Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees (UPWC).

 

The six organizations have been under constant threat ever since Israel designated them as “terrorist” organizations in 2021. The seventh target was the Union of Health Work Committees, which Israel declared “unlawful” in 2020 and whose offices it shut down in 2021.

 

Following Thursday morning’s raids, the organizations issued statements detailing how the IOF had broken down the doors of their offices, confiscated materials, welded and sealed their doors shut with iron sheets, and left behind a military order.

 

Addameer stated that the notice declared the organization “forcibly closed” on account of “security in the region and to combat the infrastructure of terrorism.”
