Look at OpenSSL. It was garbage, garbage code, garbage design, and despite "open source" no one went through it and said "holy fuck, this is pure garbage, why are all these open source projects using this shit?"
Even start with C/C++. That's a garbage language and responsible for tons of security issues. And it's still used. When a tool causes almost all users to break shit, the tool is garbage.
