Federal Reserve Announces It Is Conducting Review Into Its Own Regulatory Failure of Silicon Valley Bank

 

The Federal Reserve on Monday announced Vice Chair for Supervision Michael S. Barr will lead a review of its regulatory failure of Silicon Valley Bank.

 

Silicon Valley Bank was in FDIC receivership on Friday after investors withdrew more than $40 billion in a run on the bank.

 

โ€œThe events surrounding Silicon Valley Bank demand a thorough, transparent, and swift review by the Federal Reserve,โ€ Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said in a statement.

 

โ€œThe Federal Reserve Board on Monday announced that Vice Chair for Supervision Michael S. Barr is leading a review of the supervision and regulation of Silicon Valley Bank, in light of its failure. The review will be publicly released by May 1.โ€ the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve announced Monday.

 

โ€œWe need to have humility, and conduct a careful and thorough review of how we supervised and regulated this firm, and what we should learn from this experience,โ€ said Vice Chair Barr.

"Interesting POSSIBLE side effect from Covid vaccine."

 

I am a podiatrist practicing in Maryland. I want to get this part out of the way first. I am a firm believer in the vaccines and boosters and have been vaxed and boosted myself (as have all my family members). I have argued repeatedly with my anti-vax friends about it. I also want to say that I realize this story is anecdotal, not proven by any studies, but I did find it quite interesting. I am curious as to whether any of you had heard any similar reactions.

 

I had a patient in today who is an otherwise healthy 45 yo male. He had the vaccine 4/21. Soon after he developed Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, gout and what he said were other auto-immune disorders. just now, after 2 years with a rheumatologist, is he getting these issues under control. He asked both his Rheumatologist and PCP if this could be related to the vaccine and he was told that each of them had seen it in others.

 

One of the reasons I though it was fascinating was my youngest child, who is 21 now, had significant food allergies as a child. In his first year, he was getting all the standard immunizations. On one visit, he was sick, so the pediatrician said they wouldn't do the immunizations that day, and they doubled up and did the scheduled ones for that day as well as the previous visits. Soon after, he developed allergies to eggs, dairy and nuts.

 

It does sometimes make you wonder if we are, at times, overloading our immune systems and they just kind of break out and create antibodies to damn near everything.

 

Again, I realize this is anecdotal, but I am curious if any of you know anyone else who had this reaction. This was the first I had heard of it. Maybe GOHOX or someone else can explain why these events would not be related.

Garcettiโ€™s nomination has been held up in the Senate for over 20 months in the wake of allegations he helped cover up a sexual assault during his time as Los Angelesโ€™ mayor. However, as the Senate is expected to take up Garcettiโ€™s nomination in the coming days, experts on Chinese influence and intelligence operations are raising red flags about the former mayorโ€™s ties to alleged CCP front groups.

 

Then-Mayor Garcetti met and headlined events with members of multiple alleged front groups serving the United Front Work Department (UFWD), a CCP agency which โ€œcoordinates and conducts influence operations,โ€ according to a report from the National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC). Furthermore, over the years, the Mayorโ€™s Fund for Los Angeles, which Garcetti created in 2014, received multiple donations from the foundation of business magnate Walter Wang and East West Bank, where Dominic Ng serves as president and CEO.

 

At the time of their donations, Wang, who runs American pipe manufacturer JM Eagle and is on the board of Taiwanโ€™s Formosa Chemicals, and Ng were listed as โ€œexecutive directorsโ€ of two groups China experts have identified as CCP influence and intelligence fronts โ€” the China Overseas Exchange Association (COEA) and the related China Overseas Friendship Association (COFA). The DCNF determined this by matching Wang and Ngโ€™s Chinese names with the alleged front groupsโ€™ archived rosters.

 

Multiple experts, such as former CIA officer Nicholas Eftimiades, recently told the DCNF that COEA and COFA, which merged in 2019, are UFWD front groups.

 

A 2013 archived version of COEAโ€™s website features several photos of both Wang and Ng meeting in Beijing with COEAโ€™s leadership as well as members of related organizations and the CCP, the DCNF found.

 

Garcetti, Wang and Ng did not respond to the DCNFโ€™s request for comment.

The former US president blames bank failures on Joe Bidenโ€™s economic policies

 

The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) was the fault of US President Joe Bidenโ€™s administration, Donald Trump has claimed, warning it could lead to a new Great Depression in the United States.

 

SVB, a major lender focused on tech and startups, which was the 16th largest US bank with over $200 billion in assets only a few months ago, imploded on Friday after what analysts called โ€œa classic case of bank run.โ€

 

Alarmed over the state of the bank, depositors rushed to withdraw funds, which saw SVBโ€™s shares crash and forced the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to shut the lender down.

 

โ€œWith what is happening to our economy, and with the proposals being made on the largest and dumbest tax increase in the history of the USA, times five,Joe Biden will go down as the Herbert Hoover of the modern age,โ€ Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

 

โ€œWe will have a Great Depression far bigger and more powerful than that of 1929,โ€ he continued. โ€œAs proof, the banks are already starting to collapse!!!โ€

 

A Trump spokesman later reiterated the claim, telling Business Insider that โ€œout of control Democrats and the Biden administration have continued to pathetically try to blame President Trump for their failures with desperate lies, such as the CCP spy balloons, the train derailment in East Palestine, and now the collapse of SVB.โ€

Meanwhile, former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has blamed a Trump-era banking law for the SVBโ€™s breakdown.

The failure of Silicon Valley Bank is a direct result of an absurd 2018 bank deregulation bill signed by Donald Trump that I strongly opposed,โ€ Sanders stated on Sunday, referring to the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, signed into law by Trump in 2018. (Sanders it was a bank that was absolutely badly run, that is not the former presidents fault.)

 

The legislation, which was the most significant change to US banking regulations since the 2010 Doddโ€“Frank Act, provided tailored regulatory relief. It exempted smaller banks from strict regulations and relaxed rules for big lenders. The asset threshold for โ€˜systematically important financial institutionsโ€™ was raised from $50 billion to $250 billion.

 

SVB ended 2022 with $209 billion in assets, which means it was no longer classified as a systematically important financial institution.
