If Will's legal logic is correct, the raid was about trying to recover what was already returned. Once the derps had a chance to deduce which docs were missing, and likely returned, then they raided. Hoping that maybe they missed a doc or could get him on anything.
I'm saying the docs are advanced energy production, fusion maybe, even his uncle's Nikola Tesla docs. Hence, Q. There's a quiet rumble in the nuclear energy world for sure the last few months.
Here's where it's interesting. Skipping over the rational on the case, they're basically fucked, but they still want to punish him, except that even if it were illegal to do whatever he did with the documents, if publicly, he can keep up the kayfabe of not knowing he had them AND Will's theory is right, then he can justify the result that the info got out through is Uncle.
