US votes against UN resolution demanding Russia immediately withdraw its forces from Ukraine
Hungary and Israel also rejected the resolution
The United States on Monday voted against a European-backed United Nations resolution demanding Russia immediately withdraw its forces from Ukraine. The resolution was proposed on the third anniversary of Russia invading Ukraine.
In addition, the U.N. General Assembly did not approve a U.S.-backed resolution that urged an end to the war without mentioning Moscow’s aggression, according to the Associated Press.
Though the European resolution passed, it was with less support or Ukraine, considering 93 member states voting for it, compared to the 140 in previous votes.
Hungary and Israel also rejected the resolution.
In the past, the U.S. has voted in support of such a resolution, the wire service also reports.

Harvard poll undercuts Dem narratives, shows DOGE widely popular
A further 70% believe government spending is rife with waste and fraud, while 69% support ultimately cutting spending by $1 trillion.
Despite broadly circulating left-wing narratives that the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was causing a cataclysmic drop in support for President Donald Trump's administration, a recent Harvard CAPS/Harris poll has substantially undercut that assertion.
The survey, released Monday, showed Trump with a 50% approval rating, compared to a 43% disapproval figure. That number largely aligns with the RealClearPolitics polling average, which gives Trump a 49.3% approval rating and a 47.5% disapproval.
Eighty-three percent of voters expressed a preference for cutting government spending to raising taxes, while 77% supported a broad review of government spending. Sixty percent of voters, moreover, believe that DOGE is currently helping the government to make major cuts.
A further 70% believe government spending is rife with waste and fraud, while 69% support ultimately cutting spending by $1 trillion. Conversely, 58% do not want DOGE employees to have access to sensitive personal information.
Conducted Feb. 19-20, the survey questioned 2,443 registered voters.

House Judiciary subpoenas FBI for docs pertaining to bureau's alleged misconduct under Biden admin
Jordan accused the FBI of departing from its "public safety mission," under the Biden administration and Wray's leadership, and claimed it also "refused any real transparency or accountability for its actions."
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan on Monday subpoenaed the FBI for information and documents related to its investigation into alleged misconduct that occurred in the bureau during the Biden administration.
The committee previously subpoenaed the bureau for the documents during the 118th Congress, but Jordan claimed former FBI Director Christopher Wray failed to produce the necessary material.
Jordan accused the FBI of departing from its "public safety mission," under the Biden administration and Wray's leadership in a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel, and claimed it also "refused any real transparency or accountability for its actions."
"When President [Donald] Trump nominated you to serve as the Director of the FBI, he rightly called you an 'advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution' who will 'bring back Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity to the FBI,'" Jordan wrote. "During this critical time in the FBI’s history, when Americans deeply distrust the FBI, it is important that you succeed in restoring public confidence and creating much-needed transparency."
The chairman asked Patel to provide records related to the Biden administration's "insertion of federal law enforcement into local school board meetings," the Richmond field office's memorandum that labeled traditional Catholics as "violent extremists," and Wray's alleged "slow-walking" of the investigation into the January 6 pipe bombs.
He also asked for records and documents related to the FBI's alleged use of confidential human sources on January 6, and the administration's alleged collusion with technology companies to censor free speech, among others.
Jordan requested that all the information be turned over to Congress by March 17.

Secret Service agent who heroically jumped onto JFK’s car during assassination dies at 93
Hill is survived by his wife, his two sons, five grandchildren, and two step-grandsons. A private funeral will be held in Washington, D.C. at a later date.
Former Secret Service Agent Clint Hill, who famously jumped onto President John F. Kennedy's car during the 1963 assassination, died on Friday at the age of 93, his publisher announced Monday.
No cause of death has been announced, but Hill died at his home in Belvedere, California, according to his publisher Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, the Associated Press reported.
Hill, who was tasked with protecting former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy, heroically jumped on the back of the presidential limousine during the assassination, after he heard a gunshot go off in Dealey Plaza, and saw the president slump forward in his seat.
The former secret service agent, who was haunted by the events of the assassination for most of his life, was promoted for his actions and given Secret Service awards. But he resigned at the age of 43 at the urging of his doctors.
“If I had reacted just a little bit quicker. And I could have, I guess,” Hill told Mike Wallace on CBS’ 60 Minutes in 1975. "And I’ll live with that to my grave.”
Hill has repeatedly stated that he would have given his life for the president, and that if he had gotten to the president faster he could have taken the third bullet that ultimately killed Kennedy.
He has also been credited with saving Jacqueline Kennedy after helping her off the trunk of the limousine during the shooting and back into the vehicle. One former aide claimed that she would have likely fallen off the trunk without Hill, and been hit by other cars, per the New York Times.
The former Secret Service agent co-authored several books decades after the assassination, including “Mrs. Kennedy and Me” and “Five Presidents."
Hill is survived by his wife, his two sons, five grandchildren, and two step-grandsons. A private funeral will be held in Washington, D.C. at a later date.

So which is it?
Saw a video where Trump did NOT greet macron as a snub.
Then saw a video where Trump greeted macron at the door and shook his hand.
Now an article says a staffer greeted macron at the door.
Still confused.
ANOTHER big layoff for starbucks.
Starbucks to lay off 1,100 of corporate employees
Starbucks previously fired its employees and closed many stores in major cities.
ew Starbucks Chairman and CEO Brian Niccol announced Monday the national coffee shop chain will lay off 1,100 corporate employees worldwide amid declining profits.
Starbuck's net sales in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024 fell 3% to $9.1 billion.
Niccol made the announcement in a letter to Starbucks employees in which he also said he would announce who would lose their jobs by midday Tuesday.
Additionally, several hundred open and unfilled positions would be eliminated.
Niccol forewarned last month that corporate layoffs would be announced by early March.
“Our intent is to operate more efficiently, increase accountability, reduce complexity and drive better integration,” Niccol wrote.
According to the Associated Press, Starbucks has 16,000 corporate employees worldwide. The layoffs will not affect the roasting, warehouse and barista staff.
“Our size and structure can slow us down, with too many layers, managers of small teams and roles focused primarily on coordinating work,” Niccol wrote.
Starbuck was among the first to cash in on America's coffee and cafe craze but has struggled in recent years amid competition from other chains and independent shops and such challenges as customers' long waits in lines, too many drink-menu options, and an overcomplicated corporate system.
In addition, safety concern, particularly in the COVID-19 pandemic era, forced Starbucks to close shops in such big cities as Los Angeles, Seattle, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Portland, Oregon.
