#OTD, we celebrate the 127th birthday of Lt. Gen. Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller, the most decorated Marine in the history of the Corps—and the only Marine to receive five Navy Crosses, the nation's second-highest military honor.
Over a remarkable 37-year career—27 of those spent overseas or at sea—Chesty left his mark across battlefields and campaigns in China, Haiti, Nicaragua, WWII, and Korea.
As Marines continue to meet new challenges with the same fighting spirit, we remember Chesty’s timeless words:
“Old breed? New breed? There's not a damn bit of difference as long as it's the Marine breed.”
Chesty’s legacy lives on.
