Well as a collective on earth c is valid. In space and wave speed of light will be relative to other. A light wave at a different angle from another the relative speed between them at 180 degrees moving apart will still be c - from our perspective.
As for if it yields Mandelbrot i think it does or something similar with scale shifts but have not proven it yet.

If I had a program that could put a transparent of projection of a geometric image onto a irregular frame I can test if the Lie 8 group projected onto the hopf sphere does show the Mandelbrot or not.
