Is there a consensus as to why Trump cycled certain people through being Director of the C_A?

Let's take a look at the timetables and the players involved here.

Gina Haspel- Deputy Director of the C_A 2/2/17 to 5/21/18 (1y3mo). Became acting Director to replace Pompeo for a month, and now actively holds the position.

For reference, most of the previous Deputy directors served for ~3 years. One exception being being David Cohen.

David Cohen- Appointed by Obama, did about 2 years before fired/resigned on 1/20/17. Previously was the Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (4y) and before that Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing (2y).

Who was also fired/resigned on 1/20/17? John Brennan.

Succeeded by Mike Pompeo, who did 1y3mo as well. [15] months.

Mike Pompeo- attorney and former Army officer. Was on the Kansas House of Representatives for 6y before being instated as Director 3 days after Brennan was fired.

Every other Director since 2005 had worked with some sort of intelliegence agency or committee before becoming Director. House of Reps to Director? Never happened before. [TRUST KANSAS]

Now he is Secretary of State.

Why have him assume leadership of the C_A before SoS?

How would that position help prepare him for his role?

President Trump met with one of the leading promoters of the "QAnon" conspiracy theory in the Oval Office on Thursday.

The Daily Beast first reported on Friday that YouTube conspiracy theorist Lionel Lebron was at the White House for an event and that during his visit he posed for photos with Trump in the Oval Office.

"There simply are no words to explicate this profound honor," Lebron wrote on Instagram while sharing a photo of him and Trump.

Lebron is a leading promoter of a fringe far-right conspiracy theory that, among other things, claims some Democratic lawmakers are part of a globalist pedophile cult.

One “QAnon” theory that has been popularized by the president is the claim that the “criminal deep state” is operating behind the scenes of the government.

The theories have been shared by notable figures on the right, including actress Roseanne Barr and InfoWars founder Alex Jones.

Lebron said he received a “special guided tour of the White House” before getting the opportunity to take pictures with Trump, according to The Daily Beast.

The news outlet noted that Lebron said in a video posted on YouTube that he did not speak with the president about the conspiracy theory.

“I think we all know he knows about it,” Lebron said in the video.

The White House and Lebron didn't respond to request for comment for the Beast's report.

Twitter CEO to Testify Before House Committee in September

Twitter Inc’s chief executive Jack Dorsey will appear before a US House of Representatives committee on September 5 to face the concerns about social media removing conservative-produced content.

Republican Representative Greg Walden (R-OR), the panel’s chairman, said in a statement issued Friday that he expects Dorsey to be “forthright and transparent” regarding the social media platform’s algorithms and content judgment calls.

Walden also said that the House Energy and Commerce Committee “intends to ask tough questions about how Twitter monitors and polices content," noting that “Twitter is an incredibly powerful platform that can change the national conversation in the time it takes a tweet to go viral”

The concerns were raised after US President Donald Trump, in a Friday tweet, accused social media companies of silencing “millions of people” thus censoring the unwanted opinions. He did not mention specific companies.

Trump also claimed that social media companies were “totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices.” That criticism came after large media companies Apple, Facebook and Google removed content posted by InfoWars host Alex Jones from their platforms. Democratic senators ask Pompeo for translator's notes from Trump-Putin meeting

Democratic senators are requesting translation notes and other materials related to Donald Trump's two-hour meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in July, saying the summit requires "urgent congressional oversight."

The request was made in a letter sent to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday by Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in which they, unsurprisingly, found a way to turn Moscow into the villain.

"Russian officials have taken advantage of the lack of communication by the White House to circulate their own, possibly false, readouts of what occurred in this private meeting," they wrote.

In addition to translation notes, the two are also seeking cable traffic, memos, and policy directives related to the meeting in Helsinki, which was only attended by the two leaders and translators from each side.

It's not the first time that Trump's translator has come in for the Democrats' anger surrounding the meeting with Putin. In July, congressional Republicans rejected Democratic calls to summon the translator, saying it would block future presidential diplomatic efforts.

“That would be the last time you ever have a foreign leader meet with a president of the US privately,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), himself a frequent critic of Trump, told Politico. “I can’t imagine how that would affect future presidents in terms of their ability to talk to foreign leaders.”

Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), chair of the Foreign Relations Committee and another Trump critic, said at the time that summoning the translator would set a bad precedent. “If we are going to start getting translator’s notes, I think we are moving to a precedent that – unless some crime has been committed – is unprecedented and just not appropriate,” he said.

Trump has faced widespread criticism over the meeting with Putin, which began before either leader even arrived in Helsinki. The US president's critics branded him "traitor-in-chief" and accused him of treason on Twitter, while claiming the meeting was an "unconditional surrender" to Putin, his so-called "puppet master."

Despite the ongoing criticism, the US president has remained steadfast, insisting that it's a good thing –not a bad thing – to have friendly relations with Russia and other countries. Following the meeting with Putin, Trump tweeted that "some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russia. They would rather go to war than see this. Burning Man Threatening to Sue Feds for Turning Festival into Unconstitutional Police

Burning Man organizers have written a letter threatening to sue the feds after they began to turn the event into a totalitarian police state.

As The Free Thought Project reported earlier this week, police from various agencies were more aggressive than ever with searches of Burning Man attendees who were on their way to the festival this year.

Police in the region told reporters that they have orders from the federal government to target cars that are on their way to Burning Man and search them for drugs.

Organizers of the festival have responded to these reports with a letter to federal officials threatening a lawsuit if the traffic stops continue.

The letter cited “improper and apparently unconstitutional behavior” on the behalf of multiple police agencies.

Adam Belsky, special counsel to the Burning Man organization, was the organizer who signed the letter.

“Many of the (traffic stop) tactics are attempts to intimidate and harass travelers who are doing nothing more than passing through the Reservation on a state-maintained highway. This is unacceptable and this behavior should not be tolerated by agency leaders nor the public,” Belsky wrote.

Organizers argue that there are many other safety risks that these stops are causing, and it could make it more difficult for them to get ice and other important supplies to where they need to be.

“Given the current situation and the likelihood that litigation will be necessary to remedy these violations, we request that the (Bureau of Indian Affairs), (Department of Interior) and (Bureau of Land Management) and any and all other governmental agencies involved preserve all evidence relation to the (traffic stops). It appears that the BIA agents are unconstitutionally targeting attendees of the Burning Man event in violation of their First Amendment rights of free expression and of freedom to assemble,” Belsky wrote.

BIA spokeswoman Nedra Darling claims that these stops have nothing to do with Burning Man and that the timing of these traffic stops are merely a coincidence. Darling said that this operating is targeted at drug trafficking on tribal lands, and that they are looking for opiates and crack coming into the reservations.

However, Pyramid Lake Police Department Lt. Michael Durham said that the operation is scheduled to continue through September 5th, two days after the end of Burning Man, so it does very much appear to be targeted at the festival.

This is one of the largest events in the state every single year, and there is an increasing police presence at the event every single year as well. It is very unlikely that the timing of this operation was any type of coincidence or mistake. They may very well be running an operation to find drugs on tribal lands, but they are also running an operation on Burners as well.

The Burning Man Festival has long been a target of the Feds, who are threatened by the counter-culture nature of the event and its attendees. Burners have even been labeled as terrorists by the feds, as it was revealed in a 2015 Freedom Of Information Act request that the FBI sent undercover agents to the festival under the pretense of gathering intelligence on terrorists.

The 16-page document released under duress by the FBI is still heavily censored — especially parts pertaining to high-tech police surveillance equipment used to “gather information.”

The fact that terrorism is used as an excuse for the surveillance is interesting, especially because the FBI notes in its report that the festival is a “cultural and artisan event, which promote[s] free expression by the participants.”

Apparently, art and free expression can now be equated with terrorism.

The FBI claims the surveillance program is necessary to fight the “war on terror.” The agency said that the operation was “critical in the light of the ongoing war on terrorism and the potential for additional acts of terrorism being committed in the United States.”

The FBI report additionally indicates that this operation could target drug users and sellers. “The greatest known threat in this event is crowd control issues and use of illegal drugs by participants,” the FBI report said.

Republicans turned down each of those 52 requests. If Democrats held the committee gavel, the subpoenas would be approved.

Vigorous use of the subpoena power, which was granted to Congress to oversee the executive branch, could bring real attention to the many stories of inept governance, malicious policy and outright corruption that seem to bubble up as brief controversies, only to sink under the flood of the president’s Twitter froth.

“If Democrats win the majority in November, we would finally do what Republicans have refused to do, and that is conduct independent, fact-based, and credible investigations of the Trump Administration to address issues like the security clearance process, conflicts of interest, the numerous attempts by Republicans to strip away healthcare from millions of Americans, postal service reforms, prescription drug pricing, and voting rights,” Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), the ranking Democrat on the oversight committee, said in a statement.

The 52 subpoena requests fell into three categories. First, Trump administration and Trump Organization corruption, conflicts of interest and violations of norms of good governance. Second, the committee’s core oversight functions, including agency reorganizations, the issuance of security clearances and the 2020 census. And third, overall issues of waste, fraud and abuse.

This is a list of subpoenas that would likely go out if Democrats win this fall.

"US Second Fleet has a storied history, and we will honor that legacy," Vice Adm. Andrew "Woody" Lewis, who took command of the fleet Friday, said during a ceremony marking the fleet's re-launch in Norfolk, Virginia.

Lewis said his goal was to "build a fleet that is ready to fight. Ready to fight so we don't have to."

"Second Fleet will enhance our capacity to maneuver and fight in the Atlantic, and as a result, help to maintain America's maritime superiority that will lead to security, influence, and prosperity for our nation," Adm. Richardson, the Chief of Naval Operations, said at the relaunch ceremony.

The fleet was originally established in the earliest days of the Cold War and was primarily tasked with supporting NATO in its stand-off with the Soviet Union.

It participated in some of that geopolitical conflict's most defining moments including the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis when Second Fleet ships helped enforce the quarantine that prevented Soviet ships from reaching the island.

But the fleet was disestablished in 2011 to save costs and amid reduced tensions with Moscow following the Obama administration's proposed "reset" with Russia.

However the US has become increasingly concerned with Russia's military activities including its naval presence in the Atlantic Ocean.

NATO and US officials have said that Russian naval activity, including the use of submarines, is at its highest levels since the end of the Cold War. Officials are concerned that Russian submarines could pose a threat to US attempts to reinforce Europe by sea should a conflict take place between NATO and Russia.

Russia also recently sent a spy ship up the east coast of the US, and Russian Vladimir President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia is seeking to develop an underwater nuclear-armed drone.

"Prompted in part by a resurgent Russia, the National Defense Strategy made clear that there are countries once again competing to define this era not in the interest of opportunity and equality for all, but on their very restrictive terms," Admiral John Richardson said.

"We're not looking for a fight, but the best way to avoid a fight is to have the most powerful and deadly and competitive Navy possible while strengthening our combined naval power in our alliances and expanding our maritime partnerships," Richardson added.
