Donald Trump Signs Law to End Rape Kit Testing Backlog

 

Presently, at least 100,000 rape kits are untested in the U.S. and are likely to remain so without adequate funding to test DNA in a timely fashion.

The Debbie Smith Reauthorization Act of 2019, named in honor of a 1989 rape victim whose evidence went untested until 1994, will help fund DNA test training as well as education programs. The law will also fund the Sexual Assault Forensic Exam Grant Program.

“This legislation authorizes the Department of Justice to provide resources to State and local law enforcement to help make sure that criminals are brought to justice. We know that DNA is much more likely than fingerprints to result in the identification of a criminal, yet thousands of rape kits currently sit untested in labs and on police storage shelves across the Nation,” White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.

Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf on Tuesday requested a review of how recent state laws allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain driving licenses will affect enforcement efforts.

According to The Associated Press, Wolf sent a memo to agencies including U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Coast Guard, and the Transportation Security Administration regarding the new law, formerly known as The Driver’s License Access and Privacy Act.

In it, he requested a study on how it will affect the Department of Homeland Security’s activities into immigration, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and counterterrorism.

According to his memo, obtained by The Associated Press, Wolf said that the department must be “prepared to deal with and counter these impacts as we protect the homeland.”

He also asked each agency take account of what Department of Motor Vehicles information is already available, how it is used in daily operations, and what the security consequences could be without the DMV data.

In December 2019, New York became the 13th state to allow illegal individuals to apply for and obtain a driver’s license from the Department of Motor Vehicles under the bill commonly commonly referred to as The Green Light Law.

It means that individuals aged 16 or older will be able to apply for a standard license, including those who have never been issued a Social Security Number.

However, applicants must show a combination of documents that prove their name, date of birth, and New York State residency, which include a foreign passport, a U.S. Municipal ID Card with photo, and a foreign birth certificate.

Other states to have authorized the law include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Vermont, and Washington.

Does William Barr Have the Guts

When asked if William Barr has the guts to do what needs to be done, a semi-famous conservative Twitter pundit answered that Barr has the guts, but what he lacks is prosecutable crimes.

 

Wait, what?

 

If this seems like utter nonsense to you, you are not alone. It is nonsense until you consider that successful prosecution also requires an unbiased jury willing to convict. The point might have been that Barr lacks a D.C. jury pool that would be eager to impugn swamp creatures with the same zeal demonstrated for the prosecution of Roger Stone. This is a particularly tough pill to swallow for the sober masses who are watching our nation be systematically imperiled by Democrats and the media.

 

The recent I.G. report on FISA abuse was just another in a very long line of disappointing indicators that equal justice may never be restored to our nation. But just when you are ready to sell the house and move to mountains of Utah, William Barr makes bold public statements that stop the music like the scratch of a needle on an L.P. record. Is this guy Barr for real? Is he ready to face the hellfire that will be unleashed if he takes real steps to hold coup conspirators accountable? It's looking increasingly likely that he is for real, but what remains to be seen how far he is willing to go. Both he and prosecutor John Durham made courageous statements in contrast to Horowitz's predictable softball conclusions. At the same time, it feels as though we are getting our hopes up again. So where is this thing headed, and when will things start to happen?

 

The first question to be answered is exactly how far Barr needs to take it. If you ask MAGA country, they're calling for heads up to and including Obama's. This is doubtful and certainly not prudent because the political and systemic repercussions would be devastating and permanently destabilizing for the USA.

 

For a simple example, suppose that Barr approved prosecution all the way up to former attorney general Loretta Lynch. Based upon that precedent, what would stop a future attorney general from pursuing a political prosecution of the retired William Barr down the road? Care must be taken to avoid the precedent of high-level political war. Otherwise, we'll morph into a banana republic in less than a generation.

 

Ultimately, justice needs to be done, so a compromise must be made. The most prudent course would be to prosecute up to a high enough level that sends a clear message to the subordinates of future leaders: follow corrupt orders at your own peril. This is likely the best way to disarm and deter the next corrupt administration without creating a constitutional crisis. The likes of Comey, McCabe, Rosenstein, Power, and so on understand this. There's no doubt they are living in fear and uncertainty. Law-abiding Americans should take minor solace in the notion that they are suffering with fear right now as a result of their crimes.

 

The next question is timing. Suppose Comey gets indicted in spring 2020. CNN, MSNBC, and the rest of the corrupt mainstream media would start a 24-7 propaganda campaign that would look a lot like the Russia collusion narrative. However, this time, it would be louder and more desperate, and it would center on how a corrupt Donald Trump has weaponized the DOJ to go after his political enemies. The fact that Democrats and the MSM have already accused Trump of using the "awesome powers of government to punish political enemies" highlights an unmistakable Alinsky-esque pattern that has become prominent since 2016, which is — whatever you are guilty of, blame it on the other side.

 

This leftist tactic has become the signature calling card for the Democratic Party. After three-plus years of coordinated coup attacks from the "resistance," imagine the nerve of accusing Trump of what they were doing all along.

 

The incessant hypocrisy demonstrated by the left and Democrats is staggering. Hypocrisy aside, the new media campaign would undoubtedly fire up calls for more articles of impeachment from the House — and not just for Trump, but for Barr as well. You can bet on the choreography of the outrage machine. And you can also bet that this campaign would not stop until election day 2020. Would such a media campaign do damage to Trump's re-election bid? It is quite possible. Independent swing voters are a fickle and malleable bunch

It’s not like this guy pretended to be a friend and then went bad on them. They knew. And they let him in, giving him lots of clout back home from which he was able to draw new terrorist resources, since terrorism was what he did.

Mr. al-Amiri served as a commander of the Revolutionary Guard’s Badr Corps, a battalion that was tasked with operations in Iraq. He remained active in the Badr Corps during the late 1980s and 1990s, when he was working on resistance efforts against Saddam Hussein’s regime in Iraq.

 

The FBI linked the Revolutionary Guard to the attack on the Khobar Towers in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, on June 25, 1996. Nineteen U.S. servicemen were killed by a bomb blast at the towers, which were housing American military personnel.

 

“As a senior leader, [Mr. al-Amiri] would have to have known about Khobar, and he would know Gen. [Ahmad] Sherifi, who was the IRGC general that conducted the operation,” Mr. Freeh said.

 

He added that the “FBI would love to sit down and talk to him, show him photographs and ask him questions” about the fugitives named in the Khobar Towers indictment.

Al-Amiri got invited the White House as the Iraqi government’s “transport minister” after he fought on the side of Iran in the horrendous Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s, continued work with the Iran Revolutionary Guards, got more practice with terrorism in Kuwait in 2008, according to this credible-looking Middle Eastern source on Twitter:

That this terrorist got an invitation so cheaply could only have sent the message to his ilk that the U.S. was weak. And now we have the embassy attack.

 

So now we have Rhodes desperately trying to spin the matter, studiously avoiding the topic of that al-Amiri invitation, something Rhodes himself probably extended to the terrorist with full knowledge of the kind of things al-Amiri had made a career of. Rhodes, if you read his memoirs, and I did, had a taste for making personal contact with the world’s gamiest players, blissfully unaware of how naive and arrogant he came off in his written account. I’d bet money Rhodes was the one who invited al-Amiri in to take a look around the Oval office and have a seat on the Blue Room furniture.

Parsi participated as a co-panelist at a forum of Iran scholars hosted by U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) on May 28, 2008 in Minneapolis. According to Ellison, the group’s purpose was to “promote dialogue on pressing issues.” Ellison has consistently voted against U.S. economic and other sanctions on Iran for its suspected nuclear weapons program.

Judge in Hunter Biden's Arkansas paternity case abruptly recuses himself

The circuit court judge overseeing Hunter Biden's paternity case, Don McSpadden, recused himself without reason on Tuesday, just days after a private investigation firm sought to intercede in the case.

 

D&A Investigations, based in Florida, filed a "Notice of Fraud and Counterfeiting and Production of Evidence" with the court on Dec. 23, claiming Hunter Biden "established bank and financial accounts with Morgan Stanley et al" for Burisma Holdings – where he served as a former board member – to satisfy a "money laundering scheme."

 

McSpadden had the request stricken from the record on grounds that it violated state procedural rules, which required the intervening party to raise a claim that shared a "question of law or fact in common" with the existing case. Biden's legal team had told the court that D&A's filing was riddled with falsehoods and clearly procedurally improper.

 

In another court filing from Dec. 27, D&A claimed it had provided attorneys for Lunden Alexis Roberts, the plaintiff, "access to [Hunter Biden's] bank account records" that show proof of "fraud and counterfeiting." D&A sought to be officially added as a party to the case, in an effort to support Roberts' claim and provide proof of Biden's alleged criminal activity.

 

McSpadden recused himself before he could rule on the second motion.

 

Roberts' attorney, Brent M. Langdon, was not seeking D&A's assistance and called its efforts "a scheme by a non-party simply to make scandalous allegations," the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

 

In the recusal document, obtained by The Gazette, McSpadden didn't provide specific details about his departure, and only deferred to the "Administrative Plan of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit."

 

According to the administrative plan, the case will now go to Circuit Judge Holly Meyer.

 

McSpadden reportedly ordered all income records from Biden and Roberts over the past five years. He also ordered that the financial information be kept under seal and only be available to the attorneys involved in the case.

 

DNA tests allegedly confirmed, "with scientific certainty," that Hunter Biden was the biological father of Roberts' baby, according to court documents filed in November.

 

A separate motion said Hunter Biden will not be contesting paternity in the case, The Gazette reported.

Standing up to the PC Bullies

 

America has become a land of institutional cowards. I don’t mean you, average joe, dragging your aching body out of bed in the morning, facing brutal traffic or dreadful weather, to get on with the job of keeping America running. That takes guts. I don’t mean you, our guardians against mayhem - military or first responders - defending the community. You put your lives on the line every day. I do mean the far too many leaders of our institutions and businesses who haven’t the courage to do what’s right. Cowards, these privileged leaders are….

 

Girls bully passive-aggressively. They go after feelings. They act to shame their victims. The Left has discovered how to effectively employ this feminine tactic. In its most basic form it is political correctness. PC started on the left as a satire. It soon morphed into an enforceable injunction to avoid emotionally hurting people. Feelings must be protected at all cost.

 

Feelings are entirely a subjective phenomenon. The tactical genius of the Left has been to establish the pretense that feelings are objective and are therefore the responsibility of all. This is in accord with Marxist theory that society as a whole is responsible for individual behavior. This gives the left a potent weapon: nothing must be done to upset the feelings of an emotionally fragile individual. Microagressions are forbidden.

 

We now have something fundamentally new to politics: The victim has become the master. This is a complete inversion of normal affairs. We have arrived at the point where any disturbed individual can hold hostage the whole society.

 

We see this inversion in many different arenas. But it is most noticeable in the increasing ascendance of the effeminate LGBT community. LGBT is a very small fraction of society. Yet, with the sponsorship of the Left, a militant faction of that community has bullied its way into political and social dominance. That new oppressive dominance upends the stability of our society.

 

Recently, the very smallest subset of the LGBT community – the self-defined transgender people – have completely taken over parts of public policy. It is bizarre that men can compete in women’s athletics and reap all the awards. Yet now it is so, enforced in some places by law. It is bizarre that men must carry maternity insurance. It is bizarre that tampons must be available in men’s bathrooms. These are examples of the profound societal distortions that result from an attempt to protect the feelings of a tiny number of mentally disturbed individuals.

 

OK so what do we do with bullies? In the school yard the effective tactic for a boy is to beat the crap out of the bully. Girls are different, girls use social exclusion. They freeze a bully out. Unlike the Left we can’t use violence, so the boys’ solution is a non-starter. That doesn’t matter since the essence of political correctness is feminine in nature. The right tactic is to shame the bullies into oblivion.

 

That is already happening. We have chosen a president who laughs at the silliness of the Left and its social inversions. Trump shows the way. He long ago learned that bullies are also cowards. Continuing down his path will soon enough upend topsy-turvy political correctness: Resist with laughter. Resist with the truth. Be patient, the tide has already turned. Keep in mind that when things get really bad people get fed up. When people are sufficiently fed up they change things for the better. That’s called democracy

Saudi Arabia last month issued a de facto ban on child marriages throughout the kingdom.

Justice Minister and President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Dr. Walid bin Mohammed al Samaani, issued an order to the courts that any marriage application for an individual under the age of 18 must be referred to a special court to ensure their safety and determine whether or not it is in their best interest, according to The National.

The move is in accordance with the Child Protection Law, which stipulates that “before the conclusion of the marriage contract, it is necessary to ensure that a person marrying under the age of 18 will not be harmed, whether male or female.”

It states that individuals who conclude marriage contracts that violate the rules will also be held accountable and will be referred to the ministry and necessary legal action will be taken.

Saudi Arabia has undergone a string of social reform initiatives aimed at modernizing the kingdom and improving the rights of women and children since Mohammad Bin Salman became crown prince two years ago.

“It draws more eyes,” Roy Davis—a QAnon promoter known to believers as “Captain Roy” and the co-author of an Amazon chart-topping book pushing the conspiracy theory—told The Daily Beast.

The sum gives Trump a fundraising edge over a host of Democrats battling for their party’s nomination, with the first contest to be held in Iowa in little more than a month. The Democratic nominee will face Trump in the November election.

 

The Trump campaign begins the 2020 re-election year with cash on hand of $102.7 million, the official told Reuters, an amount that will help his bid to compete in more states beyond those that carried him to his improbable victory in 2016.

 

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said the campaign felt that Trump’s strong fundraising was a direct result of his decision to keep his campaign apparatus alive after taking office in January 2017.

 

He filed for re-election shortly after assuming office, allowing the campaign to keep functioning, a break from the tradition of winding it down after the election.

 

The $46 million for the fourth quarter was the amount raised only by the Trump re-election campaign. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence typically headline fundraising events that benefit both the campaign and the Republican National Committee.

 

The amount raised by the RNC for the fourth quarter of 2019 is expected to be released soon.

Health Insurance Mandate Takes Effect in RI Despite Federal Courts Striking Down the Provision

 

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI/AP) — Rhode Island residents must now have health insurance or face a penalty on their taxes.

 

The state’s taxation division released a list of tax changes taking effect Wednesday, including the new health insurance mandate.

 

Residents who do not have minimum essential coverage in 2020, and do not qualify for an exemption, will face a penalty next year when filing a state tax return for 2020.

 

“What this penalty and mandate are about is making sure everyone stays covered, you never know when you’re going to need health insurance,” HealthSource RI’s Lindsay Lang said.

 

A federal appeals court ruling this month struck down the Affordable Care Act’s requirement that people have health insurance.

 

Rhode Island enacted the requirement and penalty in the state.

 

Open enrollment is closed for 2020, but Lang said there are many circumstances where residents may qualify for special enrollment.

The former New York City mayor went on to clarify that — if were up to him — he would flip the case he called “an illegal coup” and instead try it as a one of racketeering against the Democrats he alleges participated in corruption in Ukraine. That theory remains unproven.

 

“I don’t know if anybody would have the courage to give me the case, but, if you give me the case, I will prosecute it as a racketeering case, which I kind of invented anyway,” Giuliani added.

 

When Phillips asked Giuliani about his December trip to Ukraine, at the height of the impeachment process, Giuliani declined to speak about the specifics of his findings yet, but alleged “the corruption in Ukraine is vast.”

 

“We should call it Ukrainian-American corruption,” he added, without providing specifics.

 

Trump and his supporters have espoused the theory that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 U.S. election on behalf of Hillary Clinton. Witnesses who testified during the impeachment hearings dismissed this notion and said, in fact, that Russia, which carried out an extensive interference campaign in 2016, would want U.S. leadership to believe this line.

 

After returning from his latest trip to Ukraine, Giuliani claimed to have evidence to exonerate Trump and incriminate his political rivals, including former Vice President Joe Biden, his son, Hunter and other Democrats. Giuliani told reporters Tuesday night he would wait to share his findings until he identifies “the proper forum to do it” — be it an impeachment trial or not.

 

The allegations against the Bidens remain unproven.

 

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who first called on Giuliani to share his findings from his Ukraine trip with the Senate Judiciary Committee in late December, also urged Giuliani to “make sure it’s not Russian propaganda.”

 

Giuliani has been at the center of the impeachment proceedings and would be a key witness for Democrats, many of whom allege the president’s attorney carried out a shadow foreign policy in Ukraine. Giuliani, however, is currently not expected to take an active role in the president’s defense team for the pending Senate trial.

I think it's a slick video with excellent pictures and media clips . . . all taken out of context and used by the narrator to create a conspiracy theory docu-drama that weaves together a disjointed version of facts that are woven together in an effort to create a theory that has no basis in reality.

In the summer, crime goes up. In the summer, ice cream sales go up. Therefore, increased ice cream sales causes increased crime. Correlation is not causation, yet this person wants you to begin believing in a vast worldwide conspiracy of control and manipulation that, in my humble opinion, borders on mental instability if not outright lunacy.

One fact that consistently runs through these types of whack-job theories is that they are explained through the eyes of an American without any context for the views and priorities of other nations, other social orders, or other people and their experiences.

While I agree that one should always be prepared for the unexpected and ready to live "off-the-grid" should a nationwide calamity occur, I don't believe the government, military, intelligence community, law enforcement, or other hidden forces exist in coordination to control national or worldwide events. There are too many other explanations and facts that do not measure up to reality.

The most popular of these far-flung conspiracies and theories is that 9/11 did not actually occur and that the Twin Towers were taken down by explosives and the Pentagon was actually hit by a large bomb not an airliner. Those who believe in this crap are among the cruelest human beings alive and should be treated accordingly - with disdain and disregard for their stupidity. They will be the ones in an emergency whose cruelty to others will shine through in acts of evil and self-centered anger.

I would advise you to stay away from this group and those who follow or adhere to its tenets. They are delusional at best, unhinged at worst, but definitely a danger to themselves and others. Stay armed and well prepared for they will be the ones to watch should society begin to crumble
