Israeli police detain Jerusalem governor

Israeli police on Sunday detained Jerusalem Governor Adnan Ghaith, reports Anadolu Agency and local media outlets.

A video released by the Jerusalem-based Wadi Hilweh Information Center showed police forcefully detaining Ghaith from his home in Jerusalem’s neighborhood of Silwan.

Ghaith has been detained several times in recent months.

The reason behind the detention remains unclear and the Israeli police have yet to issue an official statement.

In February, Israeli occupation authorities banned Adnan Ghaith from entering the West Bank for six months and from communicating with the Palestinian Authority (PA), despite being the PA’s governor. He was previously arrested by Israeli forces in October 2019, and then again in November 2019.

Ghaith’s arrest comes two days after Israeli forces arrested Palestine’s Jerusalem Affairs Minister Fadi Al-Hadami on Friday for allegedly violating an Israeli ban on Palestinian political activities in occupied East Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Affairs Ministry said in a statement that Israeli police raided the minister’s house in the Silwan neighbourhood of Jerusalem and took him into custody.

PLO Executive Committee Hanan Ashrawi accused the Israeli occupation of undermining Palestinian efforts in the battle against coronavirus, referring to the Israeli escalation against Palestinian officials in Jerusalem, including the repeated detention of Jerusalem’s Minister Fadi Al-Hadami.

Jerusalem remains at the heart of the decades-long Mideast conflict, with Palestinians hoping that East Jerusalem – occupied by Israel since 1967 – might one day serve as the capital of a Palestinian state. International law continues to view East Jerusalem, along with the entire West Bank, as “occupied territories” and considers all Jewish settlement construction there as illegal.

Coronavirus: Ultra-orthodox Jews cough on Israeli police, calling them 'Nazis'

Videos circulating on social media show Ultra-Orthodox Jews in the Israeli town of Bnei Brak coughing on police and calling them “murderers” and “Nazis” amid efforts by the government to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Israeli police threw up metal barricades and roadblocks on Friday to enforce a lockdown on the town which has been badly affected by COVID-19.

One of the videos shows a boy, around 11-years-old, chanting “Nazis” and forcing a cough on everything around him. In the background a man is shown to be sneezing on another dressed in a police uniform.

Medical experts estimate that as many as 38 percent of Bnai Brak’s 200,000 residents are infected with coronavirus and that the town could soon account for as many as 30 percent of cases in Israel’s 8.7 million population.

The city has become a lightning rod for anger and frustration by some secular Israelis who allege insular Haredi communities — with disproportionately high numbers of confirmed cases — are undermining national efforts to contain the virus.

The pandemic also has threatened to upend deep-seated customs in the religious world, including blind obedience to religious leaders and the belief that religious studies and traditions take precedence over the rules of a modern state.

Emergency regulations approved by the cabinet late Thursday declared Bnei Brak, near Tel Aviv, a “restricted zone” due to its high rate of infections. The new designation allows authorities to tighten curbs on public movement.

Police units, wearing surgical masks and gloves, moved swiftly early on Friday to cordon off major intersections around the town and enforce the new rules.

“Bnei Brak is on lockdown, as of this morning, and police will prevent any movements in or out of the city,” police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

“People are only allowed in or out for medical reasons or medical support,” he added.

This is due to Bnai Brak’s population density, which Israeli officials say is almost 100 times higher than the national average. Many residents are poor and some have heeded rabbis who, distrusting the state, spurned anti-virus measures.

With the elderly especially prone to the illness, Israel’s military plans to evacuate 4,500 people aged 80 and above in the town, and place them in isolation in hostels requisitioned by the armed forces.

Israel has reported at least 34 deaths and close to 7,000 cases of coronavirus. Tight curbs have confined Israelis to their homes, forcing businesses to close and sending unemployment over 24 percent.

In the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday night extended a state of emergency for another month, starting April 4. The order was issued by a presidential decree last month after a coronavirus outbreak in Bethlehem which forced closure of the Church of the Nativity, the traditional birthplace of Jesus.

"The incident occurred in the settlement of Yelatma in the Ryazan Region. A man opened fire on his neighbors in a three-story building, five of them were killed," he said.

The police have detained a man born in 1988 who is suspected of killing five people in the settlement of Yelatma in Russia’s Ryazan Region.

The files on the shooting incident have been transferred to the Russian Investigative Committee, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry’s regional department told TASS on Sunday.

"On April 5 at around 10 pm, the police of Kasimovsky District received a message about a shooting incident in an apartment building. Police officers arrived at the scene promptly. A resident of that building born in 1988 was detained by police officers near that building where five bodies were found. According to preliminary data, those were four men and one woman," the press service said.

A gun was found in the man’s apartment. According to preliminary data, the cause of the crime could be domestic conflict.

Defense Ministry says first flight with 900,000 surgical masks and half a million protective suits will arrive Monday; additional shipments will include ventilators

Eleven airplanes containing millions of pieces of medical equipment, including ventilators, face masks and protective suits to contend with the coronavirus outbreak will arrive in Israel from China in the coming days, the Defense Ministry said Sunday.

The ministry said it coordinated the effort alongside the Foreign Ministry, El Al and Israel Chemicals.

The first plane, which was due to arrive Monday morning, contains 900,000 surgical masks, half a million protective suits and other medical gear. Additional protective equipment will be coming in the coming days, alongside several ventilators.

In Video: U.S.-led Coalition Air Drops Supplies For Its Troops In Syria’s Deir Ezzor

Late on April 3, the U.S.-led coalition air dropped logistic and military supplies for its troops in the eastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor.

The North Press Agency (NPA) released a video showing a U.S. C-130 cargo plane dropping the supplies from a low altitude. The supplies landed near the al-Omar oil fields in southeast Deir Ezzor, and were later distributed to coalition bases in the fields and in the nearby Conico gas factory.

The coalition usually ships supplies to its troops in northeast Syria through the Semalka border crossing with the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. However, the river crossing is currently unsafe due to floods. This explains why the coalition opted to air drop the supplies.

Earlier this week, dozens of trucks loaded with supplies for coalition troops entered northeast Syria through Semalka. The supplies were deployed in key coalition bases near the Rmelan oil fields in northern al-Hasakah and the area of al-Shaddadi in the southern countryside of the governorate.

The U.S.-led coalition presence in northeast Syria is limited to Deir Ezzor and al-Hasakah. Around 500 troops are now deployed in several bases in these two governorates in order to “guard” oil fields from ISIS.

Venezuelan President Maduro Orders Mobilisation of Artillery Amid Tensions With US

On Tuesday, Nicolas Maduro addressed the leaders of governments across the world to request their assistance amid US attempts to arrest him over accusations of drug trafficking, which he has slammed as "false" and not based on any evidence.

Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro tweeted on Saturday that he had “ordered the mobilisation of artillery [pieces]” in the country’s strategic areas in order to protect the security of ordinary Venezuelans.

“I denounce the existence of groups financed from Colombia and the US, which seek to undermine the stability of [our] homeland with violent actions”, he wrote on his Twitter page.

The remarks came after he said during a ministerial meeting in Caracas earlier on Saturday that these groups believe that “they can take advantage of the [coronavirus] pandemic and the quarantine to carry out terrorist actions and a coup”.

He added that he had announced the mobilisation of “the artillery pieces” within the framework of the ongoing 2020 Bolivarian Shield drills, which kicked off in mid-February, “to be prepared for the fight for peace”.

Trump Announces Anti-Narcotics Operation in the Caribbean

Maduro’s statement comes a few days after President Donald Trump announced that the US military would deploy naval vessels and aircraft to the Caribbean as part of an enhanced counter-narcotics operation.

“We must not let the drug cartels exploit the [COVID-19] pandemic to threaten American lives. In cooperation with the 22 partner nations US Southern Command will increase surveillance, disruption and seizures of drug shipments and provide additional support for eradication efforts which are going on right now at record pace”, Trump said.

India Bans All Exports of "Game-Changer" Hydroxycholoroquine to Treat Coronavirus – First Touted by President Trump

India is banning all exports of hydroxychloroquine for treating the coronavirus pandemic.

President Trump first touted the drug during a daily press conference and was widely mocked and ridiculed by the enemedia.

India banned all exports of hydroxychloroquine, a malaria drug that President Donald Trump has touted as a “game changer” in the fight against Covid-19.

Exports of the drug and its formulations are prohibited “without any exceptions” and with immediate effect, India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in an April 4 order on its website. The trade regulator had last month restricted overseas shipments of the drug, allowing only limited exceptions such as on humanitarian grounds and for meeting prior commitments.

At a press conference on Saturday, Trump said he spoke to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appealed for the release of shipments U.S. has already ordered. India is giving his request “serious consideration,” he said.

Then in the fourth paragraph of the article the Bloomberg author writes: there is no conclusive scientific evidence that hydroxychloroquine can treat the infection from the novel pathogen.

This is despite the fact that the FDA issued an emergency authorization for hydroxychloroquine to be prescribed to coronavirus patients.

Turkish Military Sets Three ‘Observation’ Posts Near Jihadist Stronghold In Syria’s Idlib

On April 5, the Turkish military established three new “observation” posts in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.

The new posts were established next to the towns of Baksariya, al-Z’ainiyah and Furaykah. The three towns are located in the countryside of Jisr al-Shughur in the northwestern part of Idlib.

Jisr al-Shughur is known to be a stronghold of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP). The Turkish military couldn’t have established these new posts without some sort of an understanding with these terrorist groups.

All three observation posts overlook the M4 highway, which links the port city of Lattakia with Aleppo city, the industrial hub of Syria.

Turkey committed to reopen the M4 under the March 5 agreement with Russia. However, the highway is still blocked by opposition supporters and radical militants, who organize protests there on a regular basis.

While the establishment of new posts on the M4 could help secure it, there is nothing indicating that Turkey is planning to do so. The Turkish military appear to be preparing for a new confrontation with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) once the March 5 agreement collapses.

Dem Rep Spreads Chinese Propaganda While Blaming Coronavirus Deaths on Trump

An Illinois Democrat who accused President Donald Trump of killing Americans by lying to the public about the coronavirus also spread pro-China misinformation about the deadly disease during a townhall with constituents.

As COVID-19 spreads across the nation, Rep. Sean Casten (D., Ill.) has repeatedly attempted to blame Trump and Republicans for the death toll, accusing them of spreading fatal misinformation about the pandemic. Casten himself, however, has misinformed the public about China's role in the pandemic. When one of his constituents asked about the early Chinese response to the outbreak at a March 21 electronic town hall, the congressman refused to talk about the regime's coverup of the virus. Instead, he incorrectly said that China had successfully isolated the outbreak in Wuhan.

"China, to their credit, once they realize they had a problem, shut down the entire province that this was in and they seem to have largely isolated the cases in China," Casten said. "We have missed that window in the United States."

In reality, however, China has failed to isolate the cases in the province of Wuhan, the origin of the illness. The virus has spread to nearly every part of the country, killing thousands in distant provinces such as Guangdong and Zhejiang. And while China's self-reported data indicate the worst has passed, reports of funeral homes overflowing with urns have led critics to believe that the regime is grossly underreporting the impact of the pandemic. One media report, for instance, estimates China's coronavirus deaths are in the tens of thousands, as opposed to the officially reported count of 3,308.

"A single mortuary in Wuhan reportedly ordered more urns in two days than the Chinese Communist Party has reported total deaths in the whole country," tweeted Sen. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) on March 29. "I'm sure you're shocked by evidence of Chinese lies."

During his townhall, a constituent asked Casten why China did not react sooner during the early days of the pandemic. In response, the Illinois congressman said the origin of the outbreak was irrelevant since "viruses don't know borders."

"The best estimate is that it did move into people from the wet market of China," Casten said. "But once that virus was out there, it's sort of trivial that it came from China."

In reality, China significantly exacerbated the coronavirus outbreak by initially downplaying its danger in state media outlets and punishing whistleblowers, doctors, and journalists who tried to collect accurate information about the disease. The delayed Chinese response to the outbreak—which only started in late January, more than a month since patient zero—has cost lives: One study found that if China started its response three weeks earlier, there would have been 95 percent fewer cases.

Casten's office did not respond to a request for comment.

Casten also asserted the United States shut down its pandemic response team in the National Security Council, a false claim repeated by many Democrats and mainstream media outlets. Trump merely consolidated several redundant teams, including those tasked with the pandemic response, into one office while retaining much of their original staff, according to Tim Morrison, who previously led the consolidated office.

Casten has frequently accused Trump and his Republican allies of disseminating misinformation about coronavirus. He went as far as to demand that media outlets refuse to broadcast the president's daily coronavirus press conferences, arguing that the briefings are "getting people killed."

"Media: stop spreading lies," he tweeted on March 27. "That includes the President's press conferences. They are getting people killed. I have constituents who are convinced this is a hoax and they need to go back to work. Take away his platform."

Has the Trump/Putin Thaw Finally Begun?

It’s becoming increasingly clear as the Coronapocalypse wreaks havoc on all of our lives that the relationship between China and the U.S. has changed, and not for the better. At every level of state actor we’ve seen a huge increase in the rhetorical hostility between the two nations.

From President Trump calling COVID-19 the “China Virus” to the Chinese officially accusing the U.S. of seeding the virus in Wuhan back in October, these interactions signal a big shift is underway. Alexander Mercouris of The Duran has been saying for months that the U.S. and China have been headed for a divorce. And that this divorce is one of Trump’s strategic goals.

He recently upgraded that divorce to that of a new Cold War and I have to agree with him. We’re seeing a sudden shift in anti-China coverage coming from CIA house organs like the New York Times and the Washington Post. Both sides are effectively accusing the other of engaging in bioweapons deployment and attack which is very serious when one considers the U.S.’s current nuclear posture.

I don’t want to alarm anyone with this statement, because the likelihood of anything like that happening are incredibly low. Instead I want you to consider what the purpose of such rhetoric is.

It’s an excuse to ratchet up the domestic propaganda as cover story for how and why both countries are getting very ready to “take their toys and go home.”

Against this backdrop of a fundamental shift in U.S./China relations I want to bring up the recent phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Because I feel this phone call highlights a number of significant changes to the landscape both domestically and internationally.

Here’s the first one. Putin and Trump talked and the U.S. press didn’t go into apoplexy. The absence of irresponsible histrionics by the likes of Rachel Maddow and Jake Tapper at CNN. Speaker Nancy Pelosi wasn’t rushing to a microphone denouncing Trump. Adam Schiff (remember him?) is AWOL.

You would think they would be trying to eviscerate Trump over talking with Putin at this moment in time. The talking points are ready made. “How can this president spend his time taking orders from his master Putin when there are thousands dying in New York?”

Because Trump secured a plane full of needed medical equipment from Putin. And these same people are the ones whose lives are now directly threatened by COVID-19. I guess we may have found the limit to their depravity, when their lives are in danger they will back off on the petty, divisive and toxic politics.

Maybe they’ll save it for the weekend talk show circuit, but the lack of coverage here even after Trump’s tweets about massive oil production cuts from Russia and Saudi Arabia is telling.

YouTube to suppress content spreading coronavirus 5G conspiracy theory

YouTube will reduce the amount of content spreading conspiracy theories about links between 5G technology and coronavirus that it recommends to users, it has said, as four more attacks were recorded on phone masts within 24 hours.

The online video company will actively remove videos that breach its policies, it said. But content that is simply conspiratorial about 5G mobile communications networks, without mentioning coronavirus, is still allowed on the site.

YouTube said those videos may be considered “borderline content” and subjected to suppression, including loss of advertising revenue and being removed from search results on the platform.

“We also have clear policies that prohibit videos promoting medically unsubstantiated methods to prevent the coronavirus in place of seeking medical treatment, and we quickly remove videos violating these policies when flagged to us,” a YouTube spokesperson said.

Davies says that Epstein impressed her with his connections to celebrities and high profile political figures. Davies also says that she flew on Epstein’s infamous private jet with former President Bill Clinton, along with actors Chris Tucker and Kevin Spacey in 2002. The specific details of this trip are unclear.

After years of promising one, Epstein finally secured an audition for Davies with a film studio connected with Harvey Weinstein. The audition was for a 2005 film called Feast in which Davies plays a character identified only as “Drunk Girl” on IMDb.

Davies’ attorney, Brad Edwards, explained, “Jeffrey Epstein introduced her to Harvey and that connection is what led to her getting that audition.”

Boris Johnson admitted to hospital for Covid-19 tests after coronavirus symptoms ‘persist’

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital for tests, as the symptoms of his coronavirus infection persist. Johnson is one of nearly 48,000 Britons to have caught the deadly virus.

“On the advice of his doctor, the Prime Minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests,” Downing Street said in a statement on Sunday evening. “This is a precautionary step,” the statement continued, “as the Prime Minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus ten days after testing positive for the virus.”

Johnson has worked from isolation since he was diagnosed with the illness, and described himself as “feeling better” on Friday. The PM has communicated with the public by video clips filmed on his phone, and looked visibly ill throughout the week. At a press conference shortly before Johnson was admitted to hospital, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the British leader was “Okay.”

Can 5G cause flu-like symptoms and can it be used to activate the Coronavirus?

Before we begin, let’s look at what 5G is. 5G is the fifth generation of cellular communications. 1G was deployed in the 1980’s and it was those old-school phones that only very wealthy people had. These phones were about 6” x 6” x 12”, plus or minus a few inches. Many of the people who used these phones a lot had a region in their brain the size of a walnut that had been literally cooked. 2G came after that. 3G is the old-school flip phones from the early 2000’s, then 4G and 4G LTE came along. 5G is the next generation of cellular communications that is rolling out worldwide. 4G LTE offers 10s of Megabits per second (Mbps) where as 5G offers 100s of Mbps and into the Gigabits per second (Gbps). What does this get you? You are now able to stream high-resolution video over your cellular network.

There are multiple variants of 5G being deployed around the world. 5G in China has the data encoded on a 28 GHz microwave carrier. 5G in Europe is supposed to operate on a 28 GHz carrier. Verizon wants to be like the rest of the world and operate at 28 GHz. The FCC recently auctioned off 37 GHz, 39 GHz and 47 GHz for use in 5G applications. AT&T wants to operate on 39 GHz. T-Mobile has launched their version of 5G on a 400 MHz carrier.

You are probably confused by all of this and there is solid engineering rationale behind all of this. Let’s start with a simple calculation, wavelength and what wavelength is for some common radiofrequency, microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies.

I am sure you are freaking out by now and saying, “OMG, how can I stop this from happening to me?” So, before we get started on the technical deep dive, let’s discuss a simple solution about how to stop this.

This is the one instance where we advocate using metal. You can get one of those handy-dandy dust masks that everyone is wearing and cover it with some kind of metalized cloth. Copper Compression Socks can be used for this purpose. A single layer of Copper Compression Sock material covering your mouth, nose and ears will greatly reduce the 28 GHz field and offer a lot of protection. Do not wrap the cloth around the back of your head. Creating a metalized cylinder offers the opportunity to create cavity resonances, and your head will happen to be in the middle of the resonator. This is bad and we want to avoid this. Use enough to be effective and no more. Brick walls, foliage, shrubs, forest, drywall, carbon-impregnated foam are all known to stop 28 GHz microwave fields dead in their tracks. Use everything to your advantage. The main thing is if you know where the 28 GHz antennas are, you want to keep something between yourself and it to the maximum extent possible. 28 GHz fields do not penetrate automotive glass very well and you are safe to drive by one. Make sure the windows are rolled up and you will be fine.

Lets’ start with the outside of the body and then we will move onto the mouth, nose, throat and lungs. Many of the 5G deployments are using Phased Array technology. This means you can focus a lot of power into a very small area and steer it to follow a person. You can also “track” multiple people at the same time. There are 2 microwave energy sources in this situation, the cell tower transmitter and your smartphone. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Standard C95.1-2005 states that a maximum Power Density of 10 milliWatts/ square centimeter is the maximum power density one should be exposed to. This is for 9 minutes for every 24 hours.

Now think about your cellphone. It contains a 500-milliwatt transmitter and we can assume it broadcasts out of an area that is approximately 1 cm x 3 cm area, meaning the power density is 166.67 mW/cm2. When your smartphone is against your head, the power density is 16 times higher than that recommended by the IEEE!!! Even if we assume the energy is divided equally among 5 sides of your smart phone, that is still 166.67 mW/cm2 / 5 = 33 mW / cm2 which is 3 times higher than that recommended by the IEEE. The IEEE Limit is the maximum exposure limit for a 9-minute total in a 24-hour period! If half of this is transmitted into your brain, which it is, it is still about 15 mW/ cm2 or 1.5 times the IEEE Limit! We haven’t done any real math, only rough calculations and we can see that smartphone use is not looking that safe, since it is going against the recommendations of the world’s most knowledgeable body of radiofrequency, microwave and millimeter wave communications.
