Indeed. I voluntarily wore a mask when out in public, like I do every peak infectivity for flu season, as I have for the past several years. I got lots of strange looks.
I am no longer wearing a mask because the need has passed. However, I am now one of the few without a mask - and I get strange looks. The blind obedience of the sheep frightens me. I discussed with SpouseAnon that those who aren't buying the "directives" are few in number. We are outnumbered, and we are alone. All those sheep in their masks expect the "government" to "know best" and to "solve their problems".
The local big chain grocery store is now scanning DL for ETOH purchases now. When asked for ID to buy my bottle of wine for dinner, I gave them my dependent MIL ID. They tried to scan it and it didn't work. I pointed out my DOB on the "federal photo ID". The cashier tried to shame me into giving over my state DL so it could be scanned and she "wouldn't have to ask for a manager over ride". I refused. This is getting out of hand. Verifying age for an ETOH purchase is one thing, collecting key stats to compile in a database is another. No one else questioned it. No one else needed a "manager's over ride".
Of course, I am one of the few that absolutely refuses to go through the "porno scanner". I have paid for "TSA pre-check" and "Global Entry" access privileges, and the few times that they insist on pulling me out for special handling, I insist on the public grope and voice my opinion about the entire bullshit security theatre while they are doing it. While they are groping me and Granny, a bunch of non-native born Muslims have full access to the aircraft on the air side, and that's not a "security risk" apparently.
Stop going along to get along. It's the frog in the water syndrome. Incrementalism is how the totalitarians (whatever flavor) win.
