What does the New Testament say about capital punishment?

There is no place in the New Testament that specifically says that capital punishment is right or wrong. However, there are verses that seem to touch on the subject and support it. Let's take a look at them with their context.

 

Romans 13:1-4, "Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2 Therefore he who resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same; 4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices evil."

Acts 25:10-11, "But Paul said, β€œI am standing before Caesar’s ο»Ώο»Ώtribunal, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you also very well know. 11 β€œIf, then, I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die; but if none of those things is true of which these men accuse me, no one can hand me over to them. I ο»Ώο»Ώappeal to Caesar.”

In regards to Romans 13:1-4, the Christian is clearly taught to be in subjection to the governing authorities. This is a provision for harmony. Though a government may be oppressive, to the preaching of the gospel governments are changed. But, as we look at verse four we see the comment that the governing authority "bear(s) the sword" and that it is "an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices evil." The question is what is meant by "bear the sword." Let's take a look at some commentaries.

 

The sword is a symbol of the power delegated to governing authorities to enforce acceptable social conduct.ο»Ώο»Ώ Here we have the biblical basis for the use of force by government for the maintenance of law and order. The power to punish has been delegated by God to those who rule.ο»Ώ1

"(though β€œthe sword” might possibly be understood as only the familiar symbol of power, yet the mention of it may be taken to imply the apostle’s recognition of the legitimacy of capital punishment, such as he also expressed distinctly,"2

So, It seems rather clear that the idea of capital punishment is sufficiently included in the phrase "where the sword." After all, the sword is most definitely an instrument of discipline and in the Roman culture, it killed. Let's turn our attention to Acts 25:10-11.

 

"The charges were serious enough to demand a death penalty. If the accusations were true, Paul said, he was willing to die."3

"The right of appeal to the supreme power, in case of life and death, was secured by an ancient law to every Roman citizen, and continued under the empire."4

"Done something for which I deserve the death penalty may be rendered as β€œdone something which should cause me to be killed” or β€œβ€¦for which I should be punished by being killed.” The following clause, do not ask to escape it, may accordingly be rendered as β€œdo not ask not to be killed” or β€œdo not ask to escape death.”5

Paul does not deny the right of the state to execute people. Instead of denouncing capital punishment, Paul assumes its validity and appeals to Caesar as was the right of Roman citizens when a crime worthy of death and then levied.

 

Conclusion

It seemed clear that New Testament does not denounce the idea of capital punishment but instead assumes the right of the state to use it.

Just imagine for a second that you're the treasurer or CFO of a mid-sized corporation, and your looking for somewhere to park money where you can earn a decent return without taking too much risk. One of the Credit Suisse corporate bankers comes to you one day with an idea. They call it "supply-chain financing".

 

The new strategy is essentially just another tool to help companies more "flexibility" in managing their short-term financing needs. It's a fool-proof idea, the banker explains, because even if the companies default, there are all kinds of insurance policies and other safeguards in place to help make the lenders whole. So you invest. A few years later, your banker calls with some bad news. Four of the 10 companies to which the fund was most heavily exposed imploded, and are likely headed for liquidation. It could be years before the lenders are made whole - if ever - and you and your fellow unlucky investors are simply along for the ride, but you can probably kiss that money goodbye. Several months later, you open the FT, only to discover that many of the other investors in the fund, as well as the advisor managing the fund, were all financially linked to the companies in which the fund was investing. The circular flow of money from the funds to the companies' suppliers means that, for these other investors, any losses stemming from loan defaults have already been offset, since they're basically paying themselves...with your money.

 

Well, that appears to be what happened to some investors who weren't too happy when they found out that several Credit Suisse 'supply chain finance' funds were essentially part of an elaborate shell game orchestrated by SoftBank to help inflate the value of Vision Fund portfolio companies by making them look more financially healthy than they actually were.

 

SoftBank effectively used these Credit Suisse funds - which were administered by Greensill Capital, an investment firm that, bizarrely, received a $1.5 billion slug of cash from VF. Aside from being run by an Aussie "paper billionaire" and advised by former Tory PM David Cameron, it's not clear exactly what Greensill is supposed to be doing with all that money. But the company has managed to find itself enmeshed in all sorts of skullduggery uncovered by the intrepid reporters at the FT. Four of the CS's supply chain finance funds' top investments were tied to Vision Fund portfolio companies. investors (well, the investors who aren't SoftBank) have pulled $1.5 billion from the Greensill-managed Credit Suisse funds as several of Greensill's investments went sideways. Another interesting thing about Greensill: former British PM David Cameron is a paid advisor.

 

But now, the firm has hit upon a new strategy that just might revive the sagging fortunes of the SoftBank-backed lender.

 

'Clients have withdrawn more than $1.5bn from these supply-chain finance funds this year, after a string of Greensill Capital’s clients defaulted on their debts in high-profile corporate collapses and accounting scandals, such as former FTSE 100 company NMC Health. Credit Suisse has told investors that a group of insurers and Greensill itself are covering losses in the funds. Australian financier Lex Greensill founded the company in 2011 and cemented his status as a paper billionaire last year when SoftBank’s Vision Fund invested $1.5bn into his eponymous firm. Greensill Capital specialises in supply-chain finance, where businesses borrow money to pay their suppliers. This week the British Business Bank approved Greensill to provide so-called β€œinvoice finance” through the UK’s Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loan scheme. β€œMaking sure capital reaches the real economy, where it is needed most, is integral to Britain’s broader economic recovery,” Mr Greensill said of the decision.

 

There's nothing like extracting rents from government capital intended for the "real economy" to help keep a small, politically connected lender afloat.

Why FBI Relied on Crowdstrike Examination of DNC Server after Alleged Russian Hack

β€œThe FBI never requested access to the DNC’s computer servers,” wrote DNC deputy communications director Eric Walker. According to an unnamed intelligence official, no U.S. intelligence agency ever did its own forensic analysis on the hacked servers. FBI and Homeland Security relied on analysis by third-party security firm CrowdStrike, which investigated the breach for the DNC. [1]

 

Even that narrative is questionable. β€œ[Former] FBI Director James Comey and [former] Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson both testified to Congress about the DNC’s reluctance to cooperate in a case the Democrats nonetheless relentlessly hyped as tantamount to an act of war.” A week before Comey’s testimony, the DNC even blamed the FBI for having never requested access. Yet an unnamed senior FBI official contradicted the DNC the very next day, telling The Hill that β€œThe FBI repeatedly stressed to DNC officials the necessity of obtaining direct access to servers and data, only to be rebuffed… This left the FBI no choice but to rely upon a third party for information.” [2]

 

In hindsight, isn’t it obvious that the whole procedure was highly irregular, especially in light of the extreme sensitivity of the β€œRussian election interference” allegation? Who directed the FBI to disregard procedure and not insist on doing a proper forensic exam of the DNC serverβ€”especially if the alleged β€œRussian hacking” was going to serve as a pretext to derail Donald Trump’s legitimate presidency?

 

The hacking of the DNC server is what initiated the entire Trump/Russia hoax. How can we trust the DNC or Obama administration officialsβ€”contradicting each other’s statementsβ€”on such a significant matter? Let's review the events. [4]

In testimony to the House Intelligence Committee, the DNC IT Director, Yared Tamene Wolde-Yohannes, stated that in September 2015, a [name-redacted] FBI agent first alerted him to potential nefarious activity on the DNC network. [6, p.7] However the DNC technology team could not detect the nefarious activity. That FBI agent contacted the DNC numerous times between then and December 2015 to report continued signs of suspicious activity. The agent said his information came from other operatives in the Intelligence Community. [6, p.12]

The FBI eventually asked the DNC for 15 GB of metadata from the DNC servers, which was to be turned over on 4/29/16. [6, p.24] But on 4/28/16, the DNC’s information technology team discovered a cyberattack on their servers.

On 5/1/16 the DNC, through their law firm Perkins-Coie, hired CrowdStrike, a private contractor, to examine the server. From that time onward, CrowdStrike took over all communications with the FBI on behalf of the DNC. [6, p.32]

In response to questioning over Seth Rich, Tamene stated that the DNC found no unusual or unauthorized access by DNC personnel, but admitted that CrowdStrike was involved in the process of analysis [6, p.35] (Under contract to the DNC, did Crowdstrike in effect serve as a paid advocate to exonerate DNC personnel or advance a predetermined outcome?)

Predictably, CrowdStrike concluded that the Russians were responsible.

In mid-June, WikiLeaks announced they were in possession of emails damaging to Clinton. They did not say how they obtained the emails, but denied that Russia provided them.

In a perplexing β€œcoincidence”, Shawn Henry admitted that Crowdstrike had provided some β€œintelligence services to the FBI as part of a contract” in the past. [5, - p.74]. A search for CrowdStrike’s government contracts reveals a contract with the FBI from 7/8/2015 to 7/7/2016. [7] So while remediating the DNC network and advocating for the DNC in contacts with the FBI, CrowdStrike simultaneously had a contract with the FBI. The period

when the FBI agent originally advised Director Tamene of β€˜potential nefarious activity’ on the DNC network was concurrent with CrowdStrike providing intelligence to the FBI. Which unnamed Intelligence Community source was notifying the FBI agent of nefarious activity on the DNC serversβ€”could it have been CrowdStrike itself? Shouldn't the [name-redacted] FBI Agent be called to testify?

In a further β€œcoincidence”, IT Director Tamene’s legal counsel for the House Intelligence Committee testimony was Marc Elias of Perkins-Coieβ€”the same law firm that technically hired CrowdStrike to work for the DNC. (Doesn't Perkins-Coie's representation of the DNC and CrowdStrike appear to be a conflict of interest?) But back to the timeline…

The DNC refused to allow the FBI or Homeland Security anywhere near their server. In violation of every investigative norm, the FBI accepted CrowdStrike’s unverified redacted report, and passed it on to Mueller’s special counsel. In fact, the FBI never even saw the full report, but used it as a primary source to blame Russia anyway! [3]

The New York Times wrote an article supporting the DNC version of the story. Then Comey’s FBI leaked information to bolster this narrative, and the Times ran a second story. The DNC version of events got repeated so frequently and passionately that it became accepted as true.

 

In this way, through the knowing collusion of many individuals, criticism regarding the content of Hillary's emails was deflected, and the seeds were sown for a false narrative that Russians wanted to bolster Trump’s election changes.

In Congressional testimony, CrowdStrike’s CEO Shaun Henry could not state unequivocally that Russians hacked the DNC server or exfiltrated data from it. β€œThere are times when we can see data exfiltrated, and we can say conclusively. But in this case it appears it was set up to be exfiltrated, but we just don’t have the evidence that says it actually left.” [5] Yet upon this thinnest of predicates was based a circa-$32-million special counsel that failed to find wrongdoing by the President, an impeachment proceeding that concluded no wrongdoing by the President, and a relentless media narrative that for 3.5 years has attempted to unseat a duly-elected President.

 

Bottom line: While we do know that the 2016 Clinton Campaign and DNC paid for the discredited Steele Dossier, we still don’t know what data the DNC server held that the DNC hoped to hide from the FBIβ€”data which remains hidden to this day. We don’t know exactly what acts of wrongdoing the Obama administration hoped to conceal from their employers, the American people. However, we do know that everyone in Mr. Obama’s cabinet used private Gmail addresses for surreptitious email communication, to knowingly evade federal records retention laws. We do know that the Steele dossier (which the FBI certified to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) as reliable, and upon which the Court relied in granting warrants that legitimized spying on candidate and President Donald Trump) contained nothing more than rumors and innuendo, and had been discredited by the FBI itself. After the FBI’s stunning malfeasance was revealed, FISC Chief Judge Boasberg censured the FBI, suggesting that prior cases might be overturned due to the FBI's pattern of lacking candor. We do know that when the Crossfire Razor investigation regarding Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn was about to be closed for lack of evidence, the FBI’s Peter Strzok overrode agency decisions and insisted it remain open so they could frame Trump’s incoming National Security Advisor, Flynn.

 

Four years later, unanswered questions still abound. We must continue pressing for answers to unravel the bizarre and inexplicable behavior of the DNC, the FBI, and the Obama administration.

Stanley McChrystal β€” who has made no secret of the fact that he’s partnered with an organization called Defeat Disinfo, which is a Democratic SuperPAC, and they want you to think they are defeating disinformation, but actually what they’re doing is propagating it, and they don’t even hide it,” Logan added.

 

In the interview, Logan delivered one final warning.

 

Logan explained that these former military officers waging information warfare against the President would not leave the election results to chance.

 

β€œWhat [intelligence sources] see is an information warfare campaign that is designed to set the stage to ensure that the election delivers the results that they want, if they wait that long . . . what they’re doing is creating the problem, civil unrest, civil disturbance, in which they can be the solution,” Logan concluded.

Anyone else connect the transgender SCOTUS ruling to the cabal transgenders? Maybe a way to rile everyone up when they start firing transgender Deep State members? Retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal is advising the political action committee, which is being led by Curtis Hougland, who runs the New York-based technology firm Main Street One that wages information wars online.

 

β€œPresident Donald Trump is the largest amplifier of disinformation in the United States,” Mr. Hougland said in a recent statement announcing the PAC’s launch. β€œPeople are dying as a result of his political agenda. Defeat Disinfo will protect the American people by coordinating emotional topical, visual, and personal narratives in response to the president’s disinformation through Election Day.”

Mr. Hougland previously worked with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to fight terrorist propaganda overseas.

 

DARPA said the anti-Trump PAC’s online strategy isn’t the product of government-sponsored technology.

Press reports touted the technology at issue in Mr. Hougland’s work with DARPA as foundational to his new anti-Trump political agenda, which DARPA disputed.

 

First, the group will map the president’s tweets spreading β€œdisinformation on issues such as COVID-19.” Next, the group said it will identify β€œdigital narratives” that prove most effective in combating Mr. Trump’s agenda. Last, the group will seek to amplify its counternarratives through a network of online influencers, including several who are paid.

β€œUnlike Russians and the Republican Right, Defeat Disinfo will not use bots or sock puppets, falsify media, utilize models, or make up information,” the group said. β€œInstead, the organization will rely on real stories from real people.”
