Kennedy who was otherwise close to Israel was furious with its ostensible nuclear weapons program, fearing that the Soviet Union could use it as leverage to maintain its influence in the Middle East.

Eshkol, caught off guard by the tone of the telegram, took seven weeks to assent, and the twice-yearly inspections continued until 1969 when President Richard Nixon ended them.

Also revealed in the trove of documents the NSA posted is the origin of Israel’s oft-repeated credo that it would not be the first to introduce nuclear weapons — a deliberately ambiguous statement that left Israel room to develop the weapons, but not arm them.

Shimon Peres, then the deputy defense minister who later would lead the country as prime minister for two stints and then become president, improvised the statement when he was surprised by Kennedy during a meeting Peres had scheduled with Kennedy’s adviser, Myer Feldman, who also functioned as the administration’s liaison to Israel and the U.S. Jewish community. Unbeknownst to Peres, Kennedy and Feldman had planned the “surprise” encounter.

According to a Hebrew-language Foreign Ministry of Israel account of the April 2 meeting, Kennedy asked Peres into the Oval Office for 30 minutes and questioned him on Israel’s nuclear capacity.

“You know that we follow very closely the discovery of any nuclear development in the region,” Kennedy said. “This could create a very dangerous situation. For this reason, we monitor your nuclear effort. What could you tell me about this?”

Peres improvised, “I can tell you most clearly that we will not introduce nuclear weapons to the region, and certainly we will not be the first.”

The whole point of the creation of nuclear weapons under the Manhattan Project was to destroy the “evil” Nazis who threatened the Rothschild economic stranglehold over Europe. Luckily for all Europeans, the Germans were defeated before the Jews could get their hands on any nukes, because Germany was the primary target for “the bomb”, not Japan, which had been making diplomatic overtures of surrender in early 1945.. Joe Rogan probably wasn’t hurting for money before he signed a massive deal to move his podcast to Spotify but his wealth definitely multiplied afterwards.

The UFC color commentator reportedly inked a deal worth $100 million to move both the audio and video version of his popular podcast to Spotify with exclusive rights starting later this year.

While Rogan hasn’t confirmed the exact figure Spotify shelled out to land his podcast, he almost sounded conflicted when asked about the gaudy amount of money he was just paid.

“Weirdly richer,” Rogan told the New York Times when asked how much wealth he gained from this deal. “Like it doesn’t register. Seems fake.

“It feels gross. Especially right now, when people can’t work.”

Rogan’s deal definitely came at an odd time when businesses all over the world are reporting record losses due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. While once thriving radio stations like KROQ in Los Angeles are seemingly on life support, Spotify’s podcast industry appears to be thriving.

After purchasing Bill Simmons’ Ringer website and its network of podcasts, the streaming giant then paid Rogan a whole lot of money to bring his show and its massive audience to Spotify.

The dividends are already paying off after Spotify added $1.7 billion to its market cap in just 23 minutes after the Rogan deal was announced.

Rogan certainly found his niche in podcasting where he’s been declared the uncrowned king. He’s built a loyal fanbase while booking all kinds of guests — presidential candidates such as Bernie Sanders sat opposite Rogan when that sort of thing was still allowed, and he’s constantly fielding questions about a pair of episodes he’s done with Elon Musk.

Rogan still dedicates a lot of his time to MMA where he does his popular “Fight Companion” podcasts alongside regular co-hosts such as retired UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub and grappling guru Eddie Bravo. Even when he was required to socially distance himself from other commentators, Rogan even showed up to serve as color commentator for UFC 249 and it doesn’t appear he’s going to be abandoning that job any time soon either.

While the Spotify deal obviously had something to do with money, Rogan also embraces the change in platform where he’s been promised free reign to talk about whatever he wants without fear of censorship.

It’s something he began to notice after seeing YouTube crack down on several publishers in recent years.

“What Twitter is and what YouTube is are way bigger than a social media company,” Rogan explained. “There is a real good argument that they should be like public utilities.

“What has made society better today than it was hundreds of years ago is not just our prosperity. It’s the evolution of ideas. Anything that wants to limit discussion is dangerous to the evolution of ideas.”

Censorship concerns aside, Rogan promises he will be just as authentic with a nine-figure broadcast deal as he was a few months ago when he was chopping it up with UFC Hall of Famer Rashad Evans or strawweight contender Angela Hill.

“Why would I sell out now?” Rogan said. “You sell out to get what you want.”

Barkai was convicted in 2011 of being part of an international child pornography distribution ring and later sentenced to 18 months behind bars. However, the punishment was reduced on appeal to six months of community service, a nine-month suspended sentence and a NIS 20,000 ($5,690) fine.

For over a year up to his conviction, but after he had already been charged, Barkai continued to practice at a Haifa clinic of the Meuhedet HMO after a Health Ministry disciplinary committee ruled that he could continue to see children as long as a parent or nurse was in the room.

The disciplinary committee went on to rule that despite the charges, Barkai did not pose a danger to children as he had not been accused of physical acts against minors. As a result, it ruled that the pediatrician’s license should only be stripped for two years, and by July 2013 Barkai got his license back….

However, senior officials in the Health Ministry have come to Barkai’s defense. In 2014, the Health Ministry’s senior vice president of Administration and Human Resources, Dov Passat, submitted a letter to the disciplinary committee asserting that there should be nothing preventing Barkai from applying for tenders for positions as a pediatrician. The letter was submitted by Barkai as an official position of the Health Ministry to the Petah Tivka Magistrate’s Court, which ruled in 2018 that he be granted an exemption from the ban on employing convicted sex offenders as he does not pose a risk to the public, even if he works as a pediatrician.

In late 2018, a medical board voted unanimously to award Barkai a position as medical supervisor at the Health Ministry’s student health services department in the northern district. The Civil Service Commission subsequently interfered and blocked the appointment, stating in a 2019 hearing that “while the job at hand does not require clinical care for children, its core is oversight of student services and some of its assignments take place on school grounds and during the school day… Taking into account the nature of the offenses of which Dr. Barkai was convicted, [granting him this position] can greatly damage the image of the Civil Service Commission and the public’s confidence in its institutions.” "

Simply put, Jews — especially Jews in Israel — do not treat pedophilia as a serious crime the way White Christian societies do. The pedophile is always given the benefit of the doubt with reduced prison sentences and cursory slaps on the wrist.
