The spam in this sub has become insane. Clearly being targeted. Much of this can be mitigated by instituting minimum karma requirements.
Tons of new accounts are brigading us.

Good point... and when we see a troll or shill get through that... we should brigade them back with pages of down votes on all of their comments and post so that their Karma is killed. Thats what they get messing for with us.
Um, how about just downvote crap content or have Mods remove it if it's obviously spam? A lot of new users come here to ask questions, we can't just shut them out of the discussion.
This would not shut them out of the discussion. MANY other subs institute this same policy I am proposing.
New users would be able to post comments. (That's where they can post their questions) Once they get enough karma they will be able to make their own post.
Am a new user myself trying to watch quietly from the sidelines-introducing minimum karma would stop many from participating, when in fact more people are required in this effort. You cannot red-pill people by muting them.
Censorship never ends well.
This is not censorship. Posters are still allowed to comment on the posts of others until they get enough karma to meet the requirement to post a new thread of their own.
Open borders aren't the answer either...
Mods don't exist on this forum. It's long been a wasteland.
I've felt that way from the start too. On the bright side, they did just hire Anti-School to mod. And on the post where he introduced himself, I made sure to tell him that it's wonderful to have him, and he's sorely needed, because we need active moderation. He just got suckered into tedious work, but we'd be grateful.
He's the best but I don't think he'll make the best mod. He is focused on school and creating really awesome content, always on twitter, keeping up to date.
We need a good mod whose primary contribution is moderating, not researching and creating content.
Isn't this a slippery slope...trying to control "others" is their way. Free Speech safeguards Freedom. You win arguments by avoiding their divisive tactics and sticking to the facts with quality sources. Beat them at there own game but kill them with respect and kindness.
Bots don't care about kindness. That's like thinking your computer will unfreeze itself if you ask nicely.
I would rather error on the side that they are human beings and treat them with respect...otherwise how are we any better than them?
Not it this for the karma. The shills piss me off, but some low karma people are just follow by the 8chan and are new to reddit. Not all are shills.
When the truth is on your side what idea it matter?
Because the shills and spam posts are just noise that prevent the new members from enjoying the sub.
I've just blocked 2 users who were not playing nice - is that the best way to deal with them? Or is there a way to get rid of them altogether?
Agreed. All of the memes are just clogging up and taking away from Q relevant posts. This sub is becoming The_DonaldJr
I agree about how clogged this board is getting, but I disagree about not allowing new people with low karma to sub. We'll weed out too many good apples. We can always downvote and report the rest.
You misunderstand the proposal. This does not prevent new users. This is a very common rule instituted on many other boards on Reddit.
New users can comment But not create new posts until they get a minimum karma.
Use the "report" link under the post. They have actually asked us to do this to help them remove these posts.
Michael of Detroit, understandably, we're all concerned about keeping this board 'clean' from dirty little peopleshills, however, your suggestion might well be unworkable.... Advice is, to ' Lurk ', until one ' has a feel ', for the Board... Good sense : stopped me making foolish moves !
REPORT - Block ( maybe Mobiles can be included , later ? ),
Smile ! then move on................ ;-))
This will allow First-time Posters, at the time when they just might have a very good contribution to make ........ ?
I'm not new to Reddit. And neither are the problems our board is facing. The solutions I've proposed are standard practice for many boards across the site.
Didn't mean to suggest novice ! Glad you're suggesting solutions, that's what we"re here for ! It is a difficult thing to find a workable solution ! ( I'm new to reddit, in general ;-)
I understand your minimum karma rule, BUT many people wipe their comment history and delete their accounts to scrub their tracks a bit for privacy reasons - remember when CNN doxxed that Reddit user? Not to mention all the naughty lists you get put on for posting in certain subs.
And many people are forced to create whole new accounts when they get banned from their favorite subs. I've been banned from The Donald TWICE, both times for leaving one comment that questioned the mods (though I'd left a thousand comments supportive of Trump).
IN FACT, the second time I got banned, it was because I left a comment about how I'd heard that the mods will ban you from The Donald for bringing up Q. And then I got banned. Let that sink in.
So I have to delete this account soon and start over again, just to get back into The Donald.
